Chapter 1 - The Fair
Danny Fenton and his friends Sam Manson and Tucker Foley were having a fun time at the fair. They played many of the games that were there and rode almost all the rides. Tucker went to go get some meat shish kabobs and some vegetable ones for Sam.
Sam meanwhile dragged Danny twardes one of the stalls that had people selling things that were hand made and other items. Sam pulled Danny in front of one of the stalls Madam Badazita's Mystical Oddities that had many priceless items on display. One of the items caught Sam's eye. An old wooden hexagonal box with a beautiful green design on the top. Sam tugged at Danny and pointed out the box to him.
Danny was not really that interested in old jewelry he felt Sam tug at his arm point to one of the items. He asked Madam Badazita if he could have a closer look at the item. Madam Badazita reached over and grabbed the box and put it in front of Danny and Sam. Danny had a better look at the box; the wood he could tell was very dark wood almost black with a golden hinge in the back. But what really caught Danny's eye was the green on the top and around the box. Danny had an unusual feeling to buy the box Danny did not know why but he could feel it drawing him closer to it.
"How much is this box?" he asked Madam Badazita.
She looked up to stare at the young man in front of her then at the box in front of him. "Well" she said softly looking at the box and thinking about its history. "You can have that box free on one condition" she told him holding a finger at him.
Danny looked worried "what do you have in mind Madam Badazita" he asked. She smiled "I want you to know the history behind this box before you consider having it". Danny nodded and noted that Sam was no longer there with him.
Madam Badazita patted the seat next to her wanting him to sit down while she told him the box's history. "This box was one of the positions of one of the original discovery team that found King Tut's tomb" Madam Badazita told Danny. Danny himself was surprised at the discovery of the origin of the box. "Many believe that there was a curse placed on the tomb that if anyone entered they would die in mysterious ways" she continued the story. "But I know that you don't believe in that sort of thing because of you parents' odd interests" she told Danny.
Danny nodded that Madam Badazita knew of his parents obsessiveness over ghosts. Everyone in town knew about the strange Fenton household. "Madam Badazita, why are you telling me this?" he asked. She smiled "I saw you reaction when you looked at the box" she answered. "Your expression told me that you seemed drawn to the box" Madam Badazita whispered the last part to Danny.
"Well it's almost closing time you better get home and you can have the box no need to pay for it" she told him. Danny thanked Madam Badazita and grabbed the box and put it in his pants pocket and looked for his friends.
After he said goodbye to Sam and Tucker and told them that he would see them tomorrow. Danny went inside his house and had dinner with his sister Jazz sense both of their parents were down in the lab working on the "Fenton Portal" as his dad called it. The portal was one of their parents' biggest dreams to build sense they built a smaller version in their college days.
"So" Danny started "Mom and dad are down working in the lab again tonight?" he asked his sister. Jazz nodded as she read a book on psychology as Danny ate dinner. " I don't know why they are building that silly thing anyway" Jazz told her brother "there is no such thing as ghosts or the ghost world whatever dad called it". "Well I think dad called it the ghost zone" Danny replied to his sister. Jazz looked at her little brother and sighed "if that is what it is called okay".
Danny finished his dinner and put his dirty dish in the sink and rinsed it. "I'm going to bed Jazz," he told her. "Okay Danny" she replied. Danny went up to his room on the second floor. Danny went into his room and grabbed a pair of pajamas and as he started to take off his clothes he felt something hit his leg his hand reached into his pocket and pulled out the box he had gotten from Madam Badazita at the fair.
Danny sat on the edge of his bed and looked more closely at the box in his hands. The wood the box was made of was smooth to the touch and the intricate design on the top looked closely like an ancient Chinese design. What got his attention was a neon green band that kept the box sealed from ever being opened. "Why are you making me feel like you're calling me?" he asked no one in particular. Danny put the box on his nightstand and finished getting ready for bed and went to sleep.
