Chapter 2 - The Ghost Portal
Danny woke up to a typical Saturday morning feeling refreshed. He got dressed and was about to leave when he stopped and he had the same feeling from yesterday. Danny turned to look at his nightstand to the box. He made up his mind and grabbed the box and put it in his pocket and went downstairs for breakfast. Jazz was already there reading another book on psychology. Danny went to one of the cupboards grabbing a bowl and cereal for breakfast.
Danny sat next to his sister and the doorbell rang. He got up and opened the door to see his friends Sam and Tucker. "Well, can we go see the lab?" asked Sam "yea Danny" piped up Tucker. "Okay but I'll make sure that my parents are not down in the lab" replied Danny.
The three made their way down to the lab to see it empty. "Okay guys my parents are not here" Danny called. Sam and Tucker explored the lab while Danny looked out for his parents. "Hey Danny is this the portal you're dad told us all about?" asked Sam as she looked at the octagonal shape hole in the wall. "Yea that is the ghost portal" replied Danny. "Does it work?" asked Tucker now looking at the portal. Danny looked at it then looked at his friends "no" he answered.
The three stayed down in the lab for several minutes. "What do you think is on the other side?" asked Sam. Danny looked at her as he held a white and black hazmat suit. "I don't know but it would be really cool to find out" he replied looking at the portal. Danny looked down at the hazmat suit in his hands and started to put it on. Once he had it on Sam stopped him and removed his dad's face off his chest telling him "you're not walking around with that on your chest".
Danny started going in the hole while feeling the wall he did not see the On and Off buttons. He accidentally pressed the On button as the machine turned on a green light came on in front of Danny startling him. All of a sudden electricity started to surge through Danny's body with ectoplasm.
Unknown to Danny the box in his pocket had started to glow the band on the box sealing it melted off and started to glow more brightly. The light that the box was producing started to make a shield around Danny not before having the smallest amount of ectoplasm fuzed to his DNA.
Danny felt like shock wouldn't end. He screamed in pain for how long he did not know. All of a sudden the pain lessened enough for him to get out. Danny stumbled out of the portal and collapsed on the floor. He could feel someone trying to help him up. "Danny" the voice sounded so far away.
Sam and Tucker knew something was wrong when they heard the portal started up all of a sudden with Danny still inside. They both tried to get Danny out of the portal but they were met with a bright green light. Then they heard a blood curdling scream coming from inside the portal. Sam and Tucker screamed when Danny came out barely conscious.
"Danny!" cried Sam as she kneeled down next to him. Danny looked at her with unfocused eyes. "Danny, you need to get up, your parents might come down here after the loud sounds that came from the portal" Sam told him. "Tucker is the stairway clear," Sam called. "Yea the way is clear for now we need to get Danny to his room before his parents or Jazz come down and see him" said Tucker.
Tucker helped Sam get Danny up the stairs and through the kitchen and living room up the stairs and in Danny's room. They got Danny on his bed so he could rest. Sam went to get some cold water and a washcloth while Tucker got Danny out of the hazmat suit. Tucker emptied Danny's pockets pulling out the box that Danny bout from the fair and put it on Danny's nightstand.
Both Sam and Tucker breathed a sigh of relief when Danny came to a few minutes after the accident. He told them he was fine that they could go home and that he would see them Monday at school. Sam and Tucker weren't sure but agreed they told him goodbye and left.
Danny looked around his room for a while before he laid his eyes on the box on his nightstand. He sat up and reached over and grabbed the box. He looked over the box to his surprise to see the seal was gone. Danny breathed in slowly as he prepared to open the box.
There was a bright neon green light as Danny opened the box. He could faintly see something fly out and hover in front of him. The light dissipated to see some kind of creature floating in front of him. The creature started to stretch and yawned then looked at Danny with bright glowing green eyes. "Hi there"
