Hi Guys here with another chapter.

Barry hand shook as he witnessed his friend leading an army. It took everything he had not to give away their position. Wally meanwhile scowled as he noticed his fellow speedsters agitation.

"Calm down, they're going to spot us." Wally whispered while gritting his teeth. The elder speedster took three deep breaths. Calming his nerves. At least to the best of his abilities. These past few days just kept getting weirder. Barry wondered how deep this rabbit hole was going to go. "What's wrong, do you know that guy?" Barry was going to answer truthfully. However it didn't seem like a good idea to everything up at that moment.

"No. He just looks a lot like someone I know." Barry answered.

"Well you better snap out of it. That's not the same guy!"

"Yeah, not the same guy." Barry's face flung down in despair. Seeing Goku like this reminded him of all the people that weren't here. Hal, Victor, Krillin. He had hoped that at least some of them were out there. Maybe a few managed to find some shelter and wait out this nightmare. Though the likelihood was they were all dead... or worse. Right now though Barry couldn't focus on that, he had a mission that needed to be complete. "Atom do you copy?"

"I'm here Flash." The shrinking hero replied.

"We've got bogey's entering the building. How long until you're done?"

"Still two minutes until completion!" Barry looked back watching his friend enter the building. Bits of dust soared upwards as Barry kept kicking the ground at super speed. In situations like this, one second to a speedster felt like an eternity. He trusted Bulma to get the job done, but something didn't sit well with him. This seemed too easy. How could Bulma infiltrate the compound so easily? Unless...

"It's a trap!" Barry scrambled to reach the radio. "Atom it's a trap, get out of there!" However the radio only played static. Wally looked on with concern.

"Calm down, maybe you're just being paranoid." Wally tried to reassure his comrade. Though he had no luck on his side.

"No, I trust my gut on this one." Barry argued. The speedster once again picked up the radio, this time though he changed the frequency. "Arrow, Batman, do you copy?"

"We're here." Oliver announced.

"Get back to the ship and rendezvous with us! Atom is walking into a trap." Without saying anything else the Scarlet Speedster threw his radio towards Wally. "I'm heading in." Wally was about to try and persuade Barry to think this through. Though before he could even get a chance to, the elder speedster was gone. Something that slightly annoyed him.

.

Barry continued on his mission. He checked each room, one after another coming up short. His patience was growing ever thinner. Bulma was in trouble. Despite not being Bulma he knew, Barry had to save her. Too many people had died and he couldn't let someone else perish, especially a friend. Each room was a dead end, until the speedster found his destination. The hero burst through the door. Not much caring much for stealth anymore.

"Bulma I'm here to..." The hero of Central city could only stare as he noticed Goku, Nappa and three guards all knocked out on the ground. "Wait how did you?"

"Went small, then hit them with knockout gas when they weren't looking." Bulma explained. "Now That you're here, I do have a favour to ask. Please carry purple rain here, onto the ship?" She referred to Goku. Barry looked at her, clearly troubled. "We've got some anti Ki handcuffs on the ship, he won't be going anywhere!" A huge weight suddenly lifted from Barry's shoulders. That was until he heaved the very muscular Goku onto his back. The Saiyan's weighted armour meant that Barry could hardly move his body. Though with super speed that wasn't too big an issue.

"Are we done?"

"Yeah, virus inserted. We can now listen into their communications." Barry though still has a concern.

"Hang on, wouldn't they know we've been here?"

"Once we've gone the virus will make it look like we've failed. They might do a clean up to be safe. But it's nothing my code can't overcome. Now if you'd please." The two started to sneak towards the door. "Wait you didn't alert the enemy to our presence right?"

"As an old cowboy once said. Have some god damn faith!" Barry would regret those words however. The door flew open, with dozens of Saiyan soldiers entering the room. Bulma scowled, staring into her compatriots eyes. "And of course after he says that everything goes wrong." The first guard ran and tried to strike at Barry. Though his fist never reached its intended target. Bulma had intercepted it, then proceeded to hurl him across the room. The Scarlet Speedster felt trapped as he was unable to fight while carrying Goku.

"Just go!" Bulma was screaming at the top of her lungs.

"What about you?" Barry had to start dodging some incoming attacks.

"I'll be fine!"

"No! There's no way that you'll make it out." Bulma now started to get mad.

"God damnit Flash, this isn't about me! Get him on the ship and head back to base!" Barry looked over to his friend. Surprisingly there was no fear on her face, only determination. It was almost inspiring. Barry then looked once again at the Saiyan's. And with one deep breath, he made his decision. The speedster ran out the door, not looking back. Tears started to swell as he made it back to Wally and the others. Who had managed to reach them during the fighting. Barry dropped Goku on the plane floor, as Batman put on a pair of handcuffs.

"Where's Atom?" Oliver asked. Barry didn't respond, though Oliver knew what that meant. The plane fell silent for a few seconds. Even Wally seemed to be visually upset.

"Atom knew the risks. We need to move... or her sacrifice will have been in vain." Batman ordered. Any other time the Scarlet Speedster would have screamed at him for treating his friend like that. However after what had just happened, he couldn't. Oliver though knew how close the two were. He looked over to see Batman press the engine start button.

"Bats... You forgot to put the key in." Oliver informed him, with sadness in his voice. The Wayne looked down and turned the key. Clenching his fist afterward. Even if he wouldn't admit it, Barry could tell what the Caped Crusader was thinking. The engines roared into life, filling the reticent cockpit. Barry sat opposite Wally and Oliver, while Goku remained chained down. The speedster couldn't even look the other two in the eye.

"It wasn't your fault." Wally piped up. Though it didn't make the hero of Central City feel any better.

"I should have trusted her. Instead I rushed in and tripped the alarms. What part of that isn't my fault?" He asked.

"Bulma sacrificed herself to get you and him out of there!" Oliver tried to comfort Barry.

"Why make that kind of sacrifice though? We only met yesterday!" Barry sat back in his seat, unable to keep Bulma out of his mind.

"It's fate." Barry looked at the archer, confused. "Before we were constantly losing. We were losing more people every day. About a week before we met I... I lost my wife Dinah." The speedster wanted to comfort him, tell him everything was going to be alright... but he couldn't. Every second that ticked past meant their doom approached faster. "She was a meta. And they slaughtered her right in front of my eyes. That was the day I lost myself. Well until a man with super speed, claiming to be from a world where there's no fighting. Barry your presence has given us more than you realise. You've given us hope."

The speedster didn't know what to say. So he turned away from his colleagues, facing the window. As Barry watched the clouds float by he couldn't help but wonder. Did he deserved to be looked up to? So far all he had done was fail. Maybe a failure was all he ever was.

.

When the team returned to base, Barry went straight to his mothers office. She understood his pain and agreed to leave him alone. The hero of Central city had completed some difficult tasks since gaining his powers. From taking on street thugs to meta humans and even aliens. However what he was about to do was probably the hardest he'd ever done. His hands dripped in sweat, one after another dripping on the floor. After a few deep breaths Barry picked up the radio.

"Thawne, are you there?" Barry asked, not receiving a reply. "Thawne just answer me!" The hero's anger started to swell, however after taking a deep breath he relaxed. "I just want to talk." After a few seconds Barry finally received an answer.

"Well this is a surprise." Thawne chuckled. "I never thought you of all people would have wanted to chat with me. So what's on your mind Barry?"

"Before me. Before our feud. Why did you look up to me?"

"You mean why did I look up to the Flash?"

"Yes."

"It's a long story."

"I have time."

"Very well. When I was younger, life wasn't too kind to me. I wasn't the strongest, nor smartest kid. But at least my parents were proud of me. That was until they were gunned down by a couple of teenagers... Who decided it was O.K to rob a bank." Barry could hear the pain in his nemesis voice. "Then I discovered the Flash. Central City's first hero. Who like me, lost his parents too. I visited the Flash museum and was instantly hooked. I think though the thing that captivated me the most however was his personality. That never give up attitude, trying to befriend everyone he met. At least that was what I read about. All of it turned out to be lies."

"I don't understand, you say I ruined your life... but how? You were the one who committed all those crimes. I never forced you to kill my mother."

"That's exactly what you did!" Barry was taken aback, curious as to what he was talking about. "Do you know how people found out about my future crimes? You told them!"

"What are you talking about?"

"You leave a little safe that can only be opened after five hundred years. In it you revealed my identity. You could have easily told everyone during your era. But you decided to wait until I was at the height of heroism. So you could send me crashing back down." Barry was speechless. Did he really do that? If what Thawne said was true, that wasn't just revealing the truth. That was purposely making Eobard Thawne suffer.

"It's not too late. Reverse what you did to the timeline and we can stop this cycle. You can get to be a hero and my mother stays alive." Barry honestly felt sick asking his mother's killer for help. Yet here he was.

"I'm sorry Barry. There might have been a time where I had taken that offer. But too much has happened and I don't think either of us is willing to forgive the other. Next time we meet Barry, one of us will die." And with that final threat Thawne was gone. Barry sat down in his mothers chair, utterly defeated. It seemed the speedster was stuck in a small room. And the walls were all closing in.

Thanks again!
