Hi guys, so here's the long-awaited next chapter in my story. It is officially the longest wait for a chapter I have ever done, so sorry about that. Anyway let us begin.

.

So many things were racing through Krillin's mind. Cell was on the move, and at blistering speed. And while he knew Piccolo was okay. He was unaware of Barry, Victor or the three androids. He hoped they were all alright. And then there was Eighteen. No matter how hard he tried, Krillin couldn't stop thinking about her. There was something about her that made him feel... special. He couldn't explain it.

Still, his head suddenly returned to reality as he noticed a ship approaching in the distance. And since it wasn't shaped like a bat, it could only be one person. The dwarf stopped and waved as the ship door opened. Bulma appeared before him.

"Good to see you Krillin." Bulma exclaimed, handing him the remote. "Listen up; I had to cut a few corners to get it ready on time. So it only has a range of five meters." Krillin looked up in horror.

"Five meters? How am I supposed to get that close without being seen?" He bluntly responded.

"I don't know; I'm sure you can figure it out."

"I had to volunteer for this. Where is Goku, Vegeta or Trunks when you need them." Bulma paused.

"Trunks? What are you talking about?" Curiosity taking over.

"You didn't know? That boy from the future is Trunks." Bulma's heart skipped a beat. She turned to her baby in the back. Then back to Krillin. That young man was her son.

"Where is he?" The urgency in Bulma's voice being ever more present.

"On the lookout. Probably doing some sort of training with Vegeta." Without another word, Bulma closed the hatch as she flew off towards the lookout. Krillin scowled. Irritated, she didn't even get to say goodbye. Still, he had the detonator; now he just had to find the androids.

.

Eighteen found herself stuck on another deserted island. And while it wasn't ideal, it certainly beat being hunted by Cell. Eighteen lay Sixteen on the ground, by a tree. Eighteen had been raised to believe that only the strongest could decide the outcome. And for a day she and Seventeen had reached that peak. Only to soon be brought back down to reality. If there was one thing, she took from these events. It was the fact that life was cruel. Sixteen meanwhile looked to the sky.

"The birds... are restless." Sixteen softly spoke.

"Well, we did just invade their home." Eighteen responded. It was only now that they stopped running that Seventeen's death had indeed sunk in. Tears started to roll down her cheeks. Eighteen fell to her knees. It had always been the two of them, for better or worse. They were always striving toward more power and respect. And now for the first time in her life, she had no purpose. Without Seventeen, what would she do? "I'm alone."

"You don't have to be." Eighteen looked up at the broken android, feeling just a small sense of relief.

"You're right. I have you."

"I wasn't referring to me." Eighteen's small ray of hope soon vanished. "Without Gero to fix this unit, I will not be able to remain operational beyond tomorrow." Eighteen froze up, viciously shaking her head.

"No, I refuse to accept that!"

"Enough!" Sixteens voice bellowed, shocking the woman into silence. As they stared at each other, the ginger android returned his the volume of his voice to an average level. "We do not have time to spare. You must leave me and find the Justice League. Only they can protect you."

"Are you kidding me? They'd throw me in jail and throw away the key!"

"You were not the one to terminate Gero; therefore, your incarceration is unlikely. I believe they are referred to as 'good people'." Eighteen gritted her teeth in anger, unable to believe what Sixteen was saying.

"Good... people? You seriously believe there's such a thing as good people?" Sixteen looked on, not knowing how much anger had built up inside Eighteen. "There's no such thing! The human race is greedy, selfish individuals who'll step over anyone to obtain power. In this world, people only ever look out for themselves. Humans only ever help when it benefits them! Otherwise, they sit idly by and let others face their problems! That is the truth behind humanity, but what would you know?" You're just a machine!" Eighteen turned around, ready to walk away. Until Sixteen said something unexpected.

"You're assessment is correct. This unit is simply an android. It has metal for bones and oil instead of blood. My brain is a chip, comprised of ones and zeroes. It has no desires, just simple instructions to carry out. But I have watched humanity through the Justice League. I have seen parents fight to protect their child at all costs. I have witnessed friendships blossom, and relationships evoked. And I have seen a man sacrifice his life to protect someone he just met. My conclusion is that each human is unique, and some are what you would consider 'good'." Eighteen almost broke down.

"Sixteen." Her voice was barely making any noise.

"You have suffered throughout your life, only having experienced the worst of people. That is why you believe humanity's hubris, is a part of them all. But I have watched these humans, and I know they have the capacity for what you consider... 'good'." Eighteen sat next to Sixteen, grabbing his hand.

"Your wrong about one thing. You are so much more than just ones and zeros. You're family." Sixteen responded by giving off a small smile. Soon though, their familial moment was interrupted by a vengeful Cell.

"Eighteen!" Despite being several hundred feet in the air, Cell's screams could be heard. "I know you're around here! Come on out!"

.

Diana sat on the lookout; she had never known time to move so slowly. Her nerves only seemed to increase with every second that went by. She had lost the chance to be with one son. But perhaps she could make up with another. Mr Popo stood by the door, knowing time was almost up. Hal was speaking to Goku and Gohan, getting them up to speed. Diana didn't care; however, her thoughts only dwelled on her son. Damian noticed this and joined her.

"Tell me about my son." Diana timidly asked.

"Trunks... well. It's complicated. That guy was one of the most selfless people I've ever met. He was a skilled swordsman... and a good friend. Growing up, Trunks was idealistic. When people gave up, he was always there to pick them back up. Despite losing his mo... Bulma Briefs. And for the longest time, nothing changed. Then he went away for a bit, and..." The teen gulped, he never forgot what Trunks was like when he returned from his mission.

"What happened?" Damian hesitated with his response. This was probably a story Trunks should tell himself.

"Trunks began training with... someone, and when the androids killed him... I think that was one death too many."

"Was I there?" Damian didn't respond, though Diana knew what that meant. Her son had fought, suffered and bled for humanity. While she indulged herself atop Mount Olympus. The young man noticed how much she self-loathed herself.

"My grandfather did a lot of terrible things in his life. And it took the literal end of the world for him to see how misguided he was. No wonder Batman hates him." The two both chuckled. "He found redemption in saving so many lives. You want to make things, right? Then restart your mission of helping people. Trunks has lost his faith in others, so show him you can be trusted." Those words hit Diana, it wasn't just her friends and family she let down, but the entirety of man's world.

"Thank you, Damian." The two smiled at one another, neither noticing the boy wonder overhearing their conversations. Just then a familiar Capsule Corp ship approached the platform. The wind was blowing away everyone on the platform. The door creaked open and out stepped Bulma. She held baby Trunks in one hand, and a container in the other. The two women glared at each other. Everyone could sense the animosity except for Goku, who skipped over to the box without a care in the world.

"Hey Bulma, is that Saiyan armour?" The fighter asked though he revived no reply. "Hey Bulma, you listening." Gohan instantly tugged on his fathers' gi.

"Dad, not the time," Gohan warned him from interfering more. Bulma's gaze burned bright. All the men took a step back, not willing to mess with her. Yet Diana stood firm, unwilling to back down.

"What are you doing here?" Bulma demanded an explanation.

"I came to see my son!" Diana firmly responded. Bulma took several steps forward.

"I told you to stay away from him!"

"You told me to stay away from the Trunks in your arms. And I respected your wishes!"

"I told you to stay away from Trunks!" Gohan almost took a step forward. He didn't want any more arguments. Hal though stopped him, shaking his head.

"Don't you think he's old enough to make his own decisions?"

"That boy has suffered more than anyone his age should ever have to. He doesn't need you back in his life!" Bulma looked like she was about to pick a fight until Gohan and Dick stepped in between them.

"Easy, Bulma. Let's not do anything you might regret." Gohan pleaded with her to stop. However, neither woman would let up.

"He needs for you to leave him alone!" Bulma cried out.

"He needs an explanation!" Diana fired back.

"He needs to decide for himself!" A voice yelled from the side. Both women gradually turned their heads, where they saw Trunks angrily stood. Behind him, Vegeta proudly looked on. He was instantly making his way towards the armour Bulma bought. After glaring at both women, Trunks followed his father. Not a single word was spoken. Diana took a deep breath and a step forward. Taking the initiative and becoming the first to speak up.

"Trunks... I..." Diana could only stutter those two words before her son turned around. The anger was building up.

"Save it! I know who you are! And I know what you did!" Diana expected those words. Nevertheless, it still hurt to hear. Diana wasn't ready to give up. She bit her lip and took a step forward.

"What I did was unforgivable!" Everyone looked shocked at Diana, shouting towards her son. "It's true that I abandoned you. And I realise that you have absolutely no reason to forgive me. Still, I want to try and make it up to you. I want to be your mother." Trunks glared at her, showing no hint of a positive outlook.

"If you had just abandoned me, I might have forgiven you. But you knew the Androids were attacking and still left, that I will never forgive! You are not my mother." That last sentence was said with a ton of venom. Diana could do nothing to sway him. The feeling of powerlessness sept over once again. Only this time she didn't have death, or a friend to help her. She could only watch it unfold. Still, Trunks wasn't finished. His attention turned towards Bulma, Gohan and Dick. "And all of you are no better! Did none of you think to tell me the truth?"

"What did we do?" Dick protested against Trunk's tirade. Yet the time traveller refused to back down.

"In the future, all three of you had the opportunity to tell me the truth. And yet none of you did." Trunks turned away, his hostility at the boiling point, though he stopped when Damian grabbed his arm.

"Trunks, buddy, don't you think you're too hard on them?" Domain attempted to reason with him. "We just didn't wanna hurt you." Trunks froze up. He gazed into his friend's eyes.

"We?" The blue-haired swordsman questioned his friend, who was taken aback. "Did you know about this?" Damian took a step back, at a loss for words.

"Trunks I..."

"Did you know?" The blue-haired teen's voice became full of bitterness.

"My mother found out through that video we found at Capsule Corp. She told me right before we left." Trunks took a step back, unable to speak. This wasn't just a lie; it was a betrayal. The atmosphere somehow managed to plummet even further. Nobody could crack a smile, except Vegeta. Who found this whole conversation hilarious.

"What did I tell you, boy. Other people will just disappoint you." The prince proudly exclaimed. "Now if you'll excuse me. I have an android to kill." Vegeta turned and flew off.

"I'm going after him." Trunks informed the group as he walked away. Just before he left, Trunks stopped though he didn't turn around. "Why is it that he is the only one capable of telling me the truth?" With that final question said, Trunks flew off after his dad. Everyone was silent; they all kept asking themselves the same question. Did Trunks have a point?

.

So how was it? A return to form? Let me know!
