Later during lunch, Carl is eating with Lola, Winston, Roxanne, and Alfred. They are soon joined by Jane who approaches Carl.
"Hey, Carlie," Jane greets him flirtatiously.
"Uh… hola, Jane."
"Can I sit next to you?"
"Uh…" Carl looked both ways, and luckily Adelaide was not around. "Sure. You can sit here."
"Thanks." Jane sits down next to him on his right side. "So… what do you want to talk about?"
"Well… why don't you start?"
"Okay. Well… you know about the Princess and her Prince Charming pageant next week, right?"
Carl almost spits his milk. "What?! There's gonna be a princess and prince pageant?!"
"Yep," says Winston. "Lola and I already signed up! Oh, and we'll be getting a new judge in the club. Guy by the name of uh… Stanley! Only hassle is I don't know his last name."
"Are you talking about the new kid?" wondered Carl.
"I believe so."
"Stanley," said Jane. "He's an interesting kid. He must be into pageants if he's a pageant judge."
All of a sudden, a familiar voice calls out, "Oh Carl!"
Carl instantly goes from being interested in the pageant to feeling shocked and then nervous. He recognizes that voice, and he fears the inevitable. "Oh no…" He is on the verge of freaking out.
Then, Adelaide shows up carrying her own plate of lunch and sits next to Carl on his left side. Jane flashes her rival a dirty look and says, "Oh look who's here. It's Miss Steal Yo Man."
"Well well well." Adelaide greets her enemy with a cold stare of her own and says back, "If it isn't Miss Hey Look At Me I'm A Human Blimp."
"Hey look! It's Miss I Love Beating The Boy I Claim To Love To Death In A Karate Match."
"You do that, too!" Adelaide finally loses it.
"At least I go easy on him!"
Oh no! It's starting! Carl says mentally, bracing himself for another war between Jane and Adelaide.
"You call crushing him under your big fat weight going easy on him?"
"Ohhhhhhhhhh!" Lola, Winston, Roxanne, and Alfred exclaim after Adelaide had just roasted Jane.
Jane's eye twitches at her weight-shaming remark. "How dare you, you skinny skeleton?" Her hand clutches into a fist.
"Yeah!" A voice suddenly calls out. "I think she looks fine with that big fat weight of hers."
Jane and the others turn around to see it was Stanley the new kid who said that sort-of compliment. "Stanley?"
"You… umm… think so?" Jane is a bit flattered by his compliment, her anger fading away as a result.
Realizing what he said, Stanley grew nervous and said, "Uh… ummmmmmm… gotta go!" and dashed off.
"Uh, okay…" Jane is rather confused by Stanley's strange behavior. "Now where was I?" She turns back around to face Adelaide. "Oh!" She grabs Carl's right arm. "Nobody is going to take my Carl! Understand?!"
Adelaide grabs Carl's left arm. "Correction: nobody's going to take MY Carl! Do YOU understand?!"
Both girls start pulling Carl, causing him stress and pain. "Yoink!" He ducks and gets out of his hoodie, running away in his undershirt. Jane and Adelaide continue pulling his hoodie until realizing he is gone. "Huh?"
Carl runs across the hallway frantically searching for somewhere to hide. Upon turning a corner, he spots his locker. He quickly turns the combination lock and opens it. He enters it and shuts the locker.
"How am I gonna get out of this one?!" He asked himself in a panic. "Think, Carl! Think!" Just then, he sights Beau rolling Isabelle along the hallway. "Loteria!"
He immediately bursts out of his locker, scaring the two kids in the process.
"What's the big idea?!" Beau gets upset. "Bursting out of the locker and scaring us like that!"
"Sorry about that," Carl apologized.
"What were you doing in there, anyway?" asked Isabelle.
"Hiding from two girls who want to go out with me! That's what!"
"Oh. That."
"And let me guess, it did not go so well," Beau assumes.
"Ya think?!"
"You know, I was once in the middle of choosing between two crushes myself," the wheelchair-bound girl mentioned.
"Tell me more!" Carl begins shaking Isabelle in a frantic manner. "I. Am. DESPERATE!"
"Okay! Okay!" She pries his hands off herself. "Shortly after beginning my first year at this school, I once had a crush on Lola, but I also have a crush on Beau."
"And how did you choose?!"
"Well, to be honest, I didn't exactly choose. Lola was already in a relationship with Winston, so obviously I ended up dating Beau."
Carl groans in disappointment. "Aw! That was no help at all! Adelaide and Jane aren't in a relationship with-" He suddenly stops himself, realizing he has an idea. "Hey! I know! I can hook up Adelaide or Jane with someone else! That way, I don't have to choose!"
He faces Isabelle again. "Isabelle, you're a genius!" He tries to kiss Isabelle's cheek, much to her discomfort, until he is interrupted by Beau clearing his throat, not appreciating that another boy is trying to kiss his girlfriend. "Oh, right." He backs away from her and then runs off.
"Sometimes, I wonder how that boy managed to attract two girls with that creepy behavior," comments Isabelle.
"I wonder the same," says Beau.
