The steady mechanical whine that started when ever one his patients' status had changed jarred Hank from the book he was reading. Glancing at the board figuring it was one of the children that had been brought in earlier responding finally to their treatment, he gasped when he saw the light for her room was on. Forgetting all about his other patients Hank ran down the hall as fast as he could hoping he hadn't lost her this time. He let out a sigh of relief when he saw she was still laying peacefully on the bed, her chest rise slowly showing she was still clinging to life. He walked around the room trying to figure out what had changed about her, to cause the alarm to go off.

"My stars and garters' he whispered when he realized the device that picked up her brain function was now actually picking something up. "Everyone said you were brain dead," he stated flipping on the lights and reading the print out walking over to her bed.

"You are still here, can you hear me, can you communicate?" Hank asked not really expecting an answer was he sat back down by her bed, holding her hand gently in his.

"You don't have to respond, I know you know I'm here." He picked up the print out again reading them just to make sure, to double check, to proof what he had never stopped believing.

"I knew you could make it, you are too strong for death to take you, that's one of the multitudes of things I love about you,"
