"Well you see," Hector begins, "as a kid, I was like you. Scheming, but not too good at getting a girl, until I met Rosa."

The flashback starts decades ago with a young Hector sweeping the floor of his family's convenience store at his hometown of Toluca, Estado de México, Mexico. It was peaceful and quiet, aside from Hector whistling the El Chavo Del Ocho theme, until a young Rosa ran into the shop after some kids had teased her.

"Hola!" Hector greeted her. "¡Bienvenidos a la tienda de mi familia! ¿Cómo puedo ayudarte?" He then hears her sobbing and notices tears rolling down her cheeks. "Hey, what's wrong?"

"All the kids have been making fun of my eyes!" Rosa cried. "It's not my fault they look like dots!" She points to the dots which are her eyes.

"Well, I see nothing wrong with them," Hector comments after taking a look at her dot eyes. "Heck, I think they're beautiful!"

"You… you really think so?" Rosa was a bit flattered.

Hector nods his head.

Rosa is very flattered. "Why thank you! No one has ever complimented my eyes before! It really means a lot to me!"

"So, do you like cooking?"

"Yes I do!"

Back in the present, Carl interrupts his grandfather's narration by asking, "Uh… when are you gonna get to the triangle part?"

"Actually, I already got to that part," replies Hector.

"Well, where is the other girl? Or is it a boy? Or some non-binary person?"

Back during the flashback, another pretty Hispanic girl wearing a traditional Mexican dress enters the store. "Hola, Héctor," she greets him.

He notices her and blushes. "Oh. Hey, Esmeralda. How's it uh… going?"

Esmeralda then looks at Rosa with a smirk on her face. "And hello to you, Doña dot eyes."

Tears form in Rosa's eyes again, and then she runs out of the store crying.

In disbelief, Hector says to Esmeralda, "What was that about?"

"Didn't you see, Héctor? That girl has dots for eyes. I mean, who has dots for eyes? She's a freak."

Hector clutches his fists in anger as he listens to Esmeralda trash talk Rosa. "So?!" He snaps. "That doesn't mean you have to make fun of her like that!"

"What are you gonna do? Hit me?" Esmeralda asks, noticing his fists.

"Better. I'm going to end our friendship!"

Esmeralda drops her jaw in utter shock. Tears soon follow. "N-no. You can't do that! What did I do wrong?!"

"You insulted a pretty dot-eyed woman!"

"So you'd rather be with a freak than a pretty girl like me?! For once I thought you were a cool man! I even gained a crush on you! I guess I was wrong!" She runs out of the store crying.

Back in the present, Hector wraps up this portion of his story. "I never saw her again," he concludes.

"But what about my abuela?" Carl asked. "What happened to her?"

"I was at my parents' house weeping like crazy until I heard a knock at the door," Rosa starts narrating.

Back to the flashback, the young Rosa is in her bedroom laying on her bed crying on her pillow. Suddenly, there is a knock on her door.

"¡GO AWAY, MAMÁ Y PAPÁ!" she screamed.

"It's me, Héctor."

"Héctor?" Rosa eases her crying. She did not expect to hear his voice in her own home.

"Is it okay if I come in?" he asks.

"Sí." Rosa walks over to her door and opens it. Hector comes in.

"Hey uh…" he starts speaking, "sorry about Esmeralda."

"Why do people always make fun of my eyes?!" Rosa resumes crying.

"I have no idea," Hector responds.

"Maybe they're right! I am a freak!"

"No you're not!" Hector insists. "You're a lovely cactus flower!"

"There's no point in lying to me to make me feel better. I know I'm a freak! Everyone says so!"

Then, to her surprise Hector embraces her. "Well, I don't think you are," he says to her.

"You really mean it?" Rosa genuinely asks, easing her weeping.

"Sí," was his response, and with that he gave her a kiss, causing her to blush.

The flashback finally concludes.

"Woah! Increible!" Carl exclaims. "A little gross, but still!"

"See? You can't give up on women. Give them another chance," Hector tells him.

"Well…" Carl thinks for a moment, and after doing so he gives his answer, "okay!"
