When they landed they got off the plane and went and got Rosie's checked luggage and headed to where Hunter was waiting.
Rosie hugged him first. Hunter hugging her tight.
Hunter and Dave hugged afterwards. Hunter picked up Rosie's bag and the three of them went out to the car and started for home.
"How was your trip?" Hunter asked
"It was pretty good. Sad the last couple days but otherwise it was great." Rosie said
"You stayed out of trouble and listened to your grandfather?" Hunter asked
"Yes." Rosie said. "There was one incident where I though I might be in trouble, but I wasn't."
"Oh?" Hunter asked
Rosie told him about what happened with the stupid boy. Hunter nodded. "Glad you were able to defend yourself."
"Me too." Rosie said
"Now. There is a couple things we need to talk about." Dave said
"Oh?" Rosie said
"Firstly. The key. I saw you leave it on the table." Dave said
"That was a key to the garage door." Rosie said. "I know you told me to leave it, but I knew I would need it for something one day."
Dave nodded.
"I have left it with grandpa now." Rosie said
"Okay." Dave said. "Good."
"What's the second thing?" Rosie asked
"You made me a promise. That you would tell your grandfather about your anorexia. But you never did. He only knew because I told him."
Rosie let out a breath. "Sorry."
"Why did you make a promise you weren't going to keep?" Hunter asked
"When I made that promise I was really indenting to tell him. I just got worried about judgement." Rosie said
"Did you struggle at all with it while you were there?" Hunter asked
"A bit yes." Rosie said
"Grandpa tells me you two had a good talk about it?" Dave asked
"Yeah. I see things really differently now…" She said
"In a good way?" Hunter asked
"Kinda. Its hard to explain." Rosie said
"Okay." Hunter said with a small smile
"Oh. And you remember when Rosie threw the ball in the house that broke the lamp?" Dave asked
"Yes." Hunter said while Rosie groaned.
"She wasn't the one who threw the ball. She took the blame. One of the other girls were worried about being in trouble with me for the first time since you weren't home. Convinced Rosie to take the blame." Dave said
"She didn't ask me to at all. I just decided to when she was worried." Rosie said
"Who?" Hunter asked looking in the rear-view mirror at Rosie.
"Callie…" Rosie said "But dad promised she wouldn't be punished for it."
Hunter looked at Dave.
"I did…" Dave said. "But also said that we would talk to her about it."
Hunter nodded
"It was the only way I would tell him who it was. And because even when you commit a crime there is a statute of limitation on getting in trouble for it." Rosie said quickly being able to tell Hunter was upset.
Hunter shook his head.
"Don't be angry with dad…" Rosie said
Hunter smiled abit. "I'm not."
"Yes you are…." Rosie said softly.
They pulled in at home. Hunter got out and opened the back door where Rosie was. Rosie looked up at him.
"I'm not angry with dad. Okay?" Hunter said looking at her in the eyes.
Rosie nodded abit.
"Promise." He said.
Rosie smiled abit.
Hunter hugged her. "Don't cover for your sisters anymore."
"I wont. Promise." Rosie said
"Okay." He said letting her go. Rosie grabbed her bag inside.
"So your not angry with me?" Dave asked coming around the car.
Hunter sighed. "Not angry no. Don't like that you made that promise without talking to me though."
"I'm sorry." Dave said
"Its okay. I get it. But she told you she had covered for one of her sisters?" Hunter asked
"No. It came up in conversation with her grandfather. I guess Bianca used to cover for Beatrice. Every time. And Kele had no idea for many years. Kele often wonders if that is why Beatrice though she was untouchable when it came to taking Rosie." Dave said. "When it came up he could tell by the look on Rosie's face that she had done the same. So he asked her how many times she had done it. She told him once. He told me about this, and I brought it up to her."
Hunter nodded. "Okay."
"We will talk to Callie." Dave said
"Yes. We will." Hunter said
"And I wont make decisions regarding the girls like this without you again." Dave said
"Thank you." Hunter said. Dave grabbed his bag, and they went inside.
When Rosie got inside she was tackle hugged by some of her sisters and hugged them all. She pet Sascha who was jumping around her feet kissing his head.
She hadn't noticed when the pulled-up Nolan's car was there. So when she saw him standing there she was surprised.
"Told you I'd be here." Nolan said
Rosie hugged him tight. Nolan wrapped his arms around her and hugged her tight holding her.
"I've missed these hugs." Rosie said
"You can have one anytime you want." He said
Rosie smiled and let him go. Nolan let her go he took her bag to her room. Rosie went with him.
"How was your trip?" He asked
"It was pretty good. Sad the last couple days." She said sitting on her bed and Sascha jumped up with her nuzzling her.
Rosie chuckled and pet him all over. "Missed you too boy."
"How was the thing for your mom?" Nolan asked
"It was sad but amazing at the same time. I learned something about the beliefs of my native american side. And I believe it too. Because of it I got to hear my mom's voice. And I'm sure. Because it was the same voice that I heard in home videos my grandfather has." She said
Nolan smiled and nodded. "You heard it? Like she said something to you?"
"Yes. She helped me be able to let go what was done to me by Beatrice and Darrell. I actually even went to the prisons and told them I forgive them and am moving on." Rosie said. "I even had a conversation with Beatrice. I think was sincere."
"Wow. That is great. I'm happy for you." Nolan said
Rosie smiled and nodded. "How was your week?"
"It was okay. Finished getting ready to go back to school." He said
"Good. Yeah. Have to get into that mindset again." Rosie said
Nolan nodded.
"Have you heard anything about what is going on with Sierra?" Rosie asked
"Yeah. She is going to juvenal court." Nolan said
"Okay." Rosie said
"She has asked Cass if she could convince you to go talk to her. Cass told me since she knows your really pissed at her still. I told her that I would let you know what was said and let you decide what you would do." Nolan said
Rosie nodded. "I am furious with Cass. I don't care what Sierra did. Who her father is should not be held against her and to make that treat."
"Yeah. None of us are really happy with Cass for that." Nolan said
"It doesn't seem like something she would do either." Rosie said
Nolan took a breath.
"Or do I not really know Cass?" Rosie asked
"You know Cass. You just don't know what she used to be like." Nolan said
"Oh?" Rosie asked
"Cass used to be actually really mean. I don't know if you have picked up on it, but her mom is like that. She is kind to Cass's friends and the people she likes but otherwise not really. I once saw her yelling at a barista because the coffee cup was warm. Not hot enough to burn her hand or anything. Just warm." Nolan said. "Cass. Used to be like that but one day something changed. We think she was involved with someone who knocked some sense into her, but she denied being involved with anyone. That's when she started to be really kind. Stood up for those who were being bullied. It was like a switch had been flipped and it happened in the matter of like forty-eight hours." Nolan continued. "But holding peoples secrets over their head…. Very much what the old Cass would do."
Rosie was surprised. She never would have guessed. "I mean I have seen her mom get a little snippy before, but I figured she was just having a bad day or something…"
"Believe it or not I think Cass has had a good effect on her mom." Nolan said
"I cant believe that her dad would let her mom be like that." Rosie said
"He is kind of a pushover. Sweet man but his wife runs that house." Nolan said
Rosie nodded. "I can see that. But if Cass is doing this again. Someone needs to talk to her…"
"I agree. We all agree. And we think the person that will have the biggest effect on her. Is you." Nolan said
"Why me?" Rosie asked
"Come on Roe. You know why." Nolan said
"She still has feelings?" Rosie asked surprised.
"Yes." Nolan said. "Big time."
Rosie sighed and shook her head. "We really need to find her a partner."
Nolan chuckled. "I think if we could all get past what Sierra did to you her and Cass might have a chance."
"Are you all holding onto the anger because of me?" Rosie asked
"None of us like what she did to you. We aren't going to forgive her unless you do." Nolan said
Rosie took out her phone and texted Cass. 'Come over. We need to talk.'
"Okay. I'm going to talk to Cass. Than maybe I will talk to Sierra. If she genuinely apologizes for what she did I might be able to forgive the telling my story but not the fire." Rosie said
"Roe. You do know that she didn't really know what she was doing right?" Nolan asked
"What do you mean?" Rosie asked
"She has Schizophrenia. She was diagnosed just a few months ago. But its genetic. She has been showing signs for years." Nolan said
"Oh…" Rosie said, "How do you know she was diagnosed?"
"Cass told me." Nolan said.
"This isn't being made up?" Rosie asked
"No. It makes sense. You have to realize we have been friends with Sierra for a very long time. Only reason none of us picked up on who her father was because she has her stepfather's last name. He is her dad and she never told us anything different. But we all saw things that seemed different about Sierra we just kind of shrugged it off as just who she is. But I guess it has gotten really bad. And she has been being really destructive. She has been medicated but I guess she has been having a hard time with them. And she wasn't on them the night she set the fire." Nolan said
"Fuck. You know the fact that none of you told me this…" Rosie said
"Most of us just found out this week. Cass has kept a lot under wraps for awhile." Nolan said, "I don't know if she ever really stopped talking to Sierra."
"I did actually." Cass said. She was standing in Rosie's door. "Till she sent me proof of her diagnosis. And begged me to forgive her and be her friend again. I was cautions but I did talk to her."
Rosie nodded
"I'm going to go. Let you two talk." Nolan said. He gave Rosie a hug. Rosie hugged him.
He squeezed Cass's shoulder as he passed and left.
"Close the door and sit." Rosie said
Cass did so. "Why do I feel like I'm about to get a lecture?"
"Because you are." Rosie said
Cass nodded. "How much has Nolan told you?"
"god. I hope its everything." Rosie said
Cass nodded.
"He told me how you used to be. And how something must have happened to cause you to change in a two-day period." Rosie said. "He told me what everyone thought was the reason. But I want to hear the truth. From you."
Cass let out a breath. "My grandfather passed away. My mom's dad. And he had always told me I couldn't be like she was. My mom has always been really nasty to people who aren't her friends. And her mother was like that too. My grandfather would come down hard on my mom for it and apparently it helped. But when he caught me doing it. He came down hard on me for it too. My parents. I love them. And I think if my dad had more of a backbone he would be stricter with me, but my mom doesn't let him. You know I get to have a pretty laxed lifestyle. When I went to that party and hadn't told them. Was the only time my dad has ever really put his foot down and grounded me ignoring my mother's protests. So we knew my grandfather was sick and dying. The last thing he told me was that he wanted me to be kinder. And stand up for those who were being bullied. I took that to heart."
Rosie nodded. "Wow. I'm sorry you lost your grandfather. I couldn't image and I don't know mine the way I guess you knew yours."
"Thanks." Cass said
"So. I hate to have to do this to you but how do you think he would feel if he knew you had held Sierra's secret over her head?" Rosie asked
Cass teared up and looked away. "He would not be happy with me."
Rosie hugged her. Cass hugged her back.
"Cass. Who you are now. The kind person. That's the reason you are one of my best friends. You need to not go back to who you were. Because its not you. You are kind. I know you are." Rosie said
Cass nodded. "I know. I'm not going to do that anymore."
"Okay. So not going to hold Matt's secret against him anymore either?" Rosie asked
Cass nodded. "Its done. I'll keep it for life."
Rosie nodded and smiled. "Good."
"Nolan also told me there might still be feelings?" Rosie asked
Cass sighed. "Yeah."
Rosie nodded.
"I know there is no chance. And that's okay." Cass said
"Never say never." Rosie said looking down.
"Wait. What?" Cass asked
"Nothing. Nevermind." Rosie said
"Not a chance." Cass said.
Rosie sighed. "I don't know. I think I'm just still reeling from the break up with Nolan."
"You're confused. I get it." Cass said putting a hand on hers.
Rosie looked up.
"I'm not about to be a rebound." Cass said
Rosie chuckled. "Sorry. Didn't mean to laugh. That's just what I told Nolan before we started dating."
Cass smiled. "I know. And I don't think he was as into the guy he was with as you were with him."
Rosie nodded. "I don't want to start something with anyone right now anyways."
Cass nodded. "Lets give it time. If you decide you are into trying something when you are ready. We can talk about it than."
"Deal." Rosie said, "But have you apologized to Sierra?"
"I have. She forgave me. You ready to forgive her?" Cass asked
"For spreading my story. I think I can yes. The fire. Although I know the reasons. I don't know." Rosie said. "She could have destroyed my home."
"I know. And she realizes that now. If you want to talk to her. You still have her number?" Cass asked
Rosie looked through her phone's contacts. "Yes." She said when she found it.
"Okay. Good." Cass said "Now. How was Cali?"
Rosie started to tell her everything that happened. She noticed that Cass was staring at her lips. Rosie took a breath and looked away. "Cass…"
"What?" Cass asked
"Stop it. You are not making this easy." Rosie said
"What?" Cass asked again.
"I see where you are staring." Rosie said
"Oh…Shit…Sorry." Cass said
Rosie got up from the bed.
"Rose. Wait I'm sorry. Really." Cass said. Getting up from the bed. "I can go though." She said not wanting to make Rosie uncomfortable. She went to go.
"Cass wait." Rosie said gently putting a hand on her arm. Cass stopped and looked at her. And it was as if some outer force took control of both of them because in the next moment their lips collided and the door to Rosie's room opened.
"Oh! Sorry!" Maddy said closing the door slowly.
Rosie and Cass pushed away from each other. "Crap!" Rosie said going out after Maddy. "Maddy. Wait." Rosie said
She ran down the stairs after her and slipped going down a few steps on her butt yelping as she landed hard on the floor at the bottom.
Cass was coming out of the bedroom and saw it happen like it was in slow motion. Thankfully Maddy was already out of the way and didn't get knocked down as well.
Dave and Hunter came running when they heard the bangs and the yelp.
"Ouch. Fuck." Rosie said
"What happened?" Dave asked
Rosie was trying to catch her breath.
"She slipped on the stairs…" Cass said.
"Ouch. How?" Hunter asked
Rosie and Maddy exchanged looks.
Dave looked at Maddy. "What happened?"
"Dad. Don't ask her." Rosie said
Dave looked at Rosie.
"I was running down the stairs." Rosie said
"Why?" Dave asked
"She was running after me…" Maddy said
"Why?" Hunter asked
"I went into her room without knocking…" Maddy said
"Okay. You shouldn't have done that." Hunter said
"But why were you running after her?" Dave asked
"I needed to stop her and talk to her about what she saw…" Rosie said
"What did she see?" Dave asked
Rosie looked at Cass who had come down the stairs at this point. "I-I'm going to go."
"Cass. No wait." Rosie said
"No. Its okay. Just call me later." Cass said leaving.
Rosie groaned and put her face in her hands.
Dave looked at Maddy. "What did you see?"
Maddy shook her head saying she wasn't telling.
"Maddison." Hunter said.
"Maddy its okay. You can tell them…" Rosie said
"I saw Rosie and Cass…. kissing." Maddy said
"Um. What?" Hunter asked
Rosie's face was still in her hands.
"Maddy. Are you hurt at all?" Dave asked
"No." Maddy said
"Than you can go play." Dave said
"Do not tell anyone what you saw." Hunter said
Maddy went.
"Are you hurt?" Dave asked Rosie.
"I don't know." Rosie said
"Lets get you up." Hunter said
Dave and Hunter helped Rosie to her feet. Rosie walked over to the couch in the family room.
"My butt hurts but otherwise I'm okay." Rosie said sitting down.
"You probably bruised your tailbone." Hunter said
Rosie nodded
"Are you and Cass involved?" Dave asked
"No." Rosie said shaking her head. "I screwed up. I'm just so messed up from everything with Nolan. And found out she still has feelings and I thought I might have feelings and I told her, and one thing led to another, and the kiss happened. It was weird. Definitely no feelings…"
"Oh boy." Hunter said
"I'm so stupid." Rosie said
"No your not." Dave and Hunter both said.
"You are a teenage girl who is trying to find her way and whose heart is trying to heal and your hormones are all out of wack and you didn't think things through, and it happened." Hunter said
"But what if that made Cass's feelings even stronger and than I end up breaking her heart." Rosie said
"That might be the case." Dave said. "But you also cant let her think that there is feelings and lead her on."
Rosie nodded.
"You sure you're not hurt?" Dave asked
"Well I'm certainly starting to feel sore." Rosie said
Hunter went and got her an icepack and brought it to her. Rosie put in on her lower back.
"Should we take her to the hospital get an x-ray make sure she hasn't broken anything?" Hunter asked
"No!" Rosie said
"Okay." Dave said. "Breathe."
Rosie took a breath.
Hunter bend so he was at eye level with her. "If you have broken your tailbone its important to know."
"Its not broken." Rosie said
"Bambina. You don't know that. You might not be able to really know with an x-ray." Dave said
"No." Rosie said softly
"How about if we talk to the doctor and one of us go to the x-ray with you?" Hunter asked
Rosie smiled. "Good luck with that."
"I can be very persuasive when it comes to my girls." Hunter said
"I almost want to say yes because I want to see this." Rosie said
Dave chuckled.
Hunter took a breath. "Rose. You need an x-ray. We are going."
"He is right Rosie." Dave said, "You know when you got the piece of glass in your foot, and I told you that when it comes to your health I will use my dad card to get you to do what you need to?"
Rosie sighed and nodded
"Well. I have one of those too. And we are both using it." Hunter said
Rosie huffed.
"Lets go." Hunter said sternly.
Rosie sighed and got up.
"You okay with me taking you?" Hunter asked
"I don't want to go. So who takes me isn't my concern." Rosie said
Hunter looked at Dave.
"Take her." Dave told Hunter.
Hunter went with her, and they went to the hospital. They were quiet till Hunter decided to break the ice.
"Was that your first kiss with a girl?" Hunter asked
Rosie groaned. "Yes."
"I'm sorry we don't need to talk about it." Hunter said
"No. Its okay." Rosie said. "Yes. It was my first kiss with a girl. You know that I don't identify as straight right?"
"Actually I didn't." Hunter said
"I figured dad told you." Rosie said. "I'm pansexual."
Hunter nodded. "How long has Cass had a crush?"
"Since pretty early on in the friendship I think." Rosie said
"And how long have you thought you might?" Hunter asked
"Less than two hours…" Rosie said
"Ooh." Hunter said trying to keep his facial expression from showing what he thought about that.
"I know it was really dumb to kiss her." Rosie said
"Why don't you call her? We are going to be stuck in traffic for a bit." Hunter said
"Not with you here." Rosie said
"Why? I wont say anything." Hunter said "The longer you wait the harder it will be. For the both of you."
"Not happening." She said, "Now why is their traffic?"
Hunter turned on the news. And there was a report of a fire at the school.
Rosie took out her phone and called Cass.
"Hey…" Cass said
"Cass. There is a fire at the school. Is Sierra in jail awaiting trial?" Rosie asked
"No. But she is on house arrest. With an ankle monitor." Cass said
"Okay. Good." Rosie said.
"Rose…" Cass said
Rosie sighed. "I'm in the car on the way to the hospital with Hunter."
"Oh. You're not alone." Cass said
"No." Rosie said
"Well we can talk later than." Cass said.
"Cass." Rosie said
"We can talk later." Cass said before hanging up.
They eventually drove past the highschool which they could see a part off was on fire and being fought by the fire department.
Rosie shook her head.
"Probably something electrical." Hunter said
"Maybe." Rosie said. "But don't think we can go back to school in two days…"
"We will see." Hunter said.
They got to the hospital.
They got into a room and waited a bit till Dr. Harmon came in. "Miss Rossi. You hurt your tailbone?" He asked
"Hi Dr. Harmon. Yes. -I don't think its broken but my dads played the 'dad card' and here I am." Rosie said
Dr. Harmon chuckled. "That dad card comes in handy doesn't it?" He said to Hunter.
"It does. Especially when its with a stubborn teenager." Hunter said
Dr. Harmon checked out her lower back. "Well. Its swelling. X-ray and ultrasound. And MRI"
"Cant you just tell by feeling that area?" Rosie asked
"No." Dr. Harmon said
"She has had issues with getting MRI's in the past. She had a bad experience, and she always ends up needing to be sedated. What are the chances I could go with her?" Hunter asked
"I see in her file a note about that. But its completely against protocol." Dr Harmon said
"Than I'm not doing it." Rosie said
"Rose. Yes you are." Hunter said he looked back at the doctor. "And protocol has never been broken?"
Dr. Harmon sighed. "I have never no."
"Come on. Father to father. Cant an exception be made?" Hunter asked
Dr Harmon took a breath. "I get you want to protect your daughter. But I assure you what happened to her will not happen here."
"I'm not saying I think it will but it's a PTSD response. Doesn't matter. She doesn't know the techs. Doesn't trust them. You are a doctor you know how PTSD works." Hunter said
"I do. And yes I know she could still have a panic attack." Dr. Harmon said
"So isn't it better to just stretch the rules a little and avoiding having to sedate a sixteen-year-old?" Hunter asked
"If I made an exception for you I would have to for everyone to has PTSD with MRI's and such." Dr. Harmon said
Rosie took a breath. "Its okay papa… I'll go myself."
Hunter looked at her. She hadn't called him that before. "You sure sweetie?"
"Yes…" Rosie said sadly.
"I'll make sure the tech's and transport people know you have had some trouble. They will take good care of you." Dr. Harmon said
Rosie nodded.
"Should we also get blood work?" Dr. Harmon asked.
"What for?" Rosie asked
"Well. I see in your file that you are in treatment for anorexia. Its protocol." Dr. Harmon said
Rosie rolled her eyes. "I think I'm starting to hate that word."
"Rosie. Do not roll your eyes." Hunter said
Rosie took a breath. "If you must blood work is fine. I have nothing to hide."
"Ooh. I'm glad to hear that." Orrick said coming into the room.
"Orrick. What are you doing here?" Rosie said
"Well." Dr. Harmon said.
"Someone told him because its protocol." Rosie said rolling her eyes again.
"Rosie Bianca. Roll your eyes again and there will be consequences." Hunter said
Rosie bit her lip and looked down.
"What you here for exactly?" Orrick asked
"Slipped going down the stairs. Hurt my tailbone. Getting an x-ray ultrasound and MRI." Rosie said
"Oh. I see." Orrick said. "I can take her down with transport person." Orrick said "She hasn't had the best experiences in the past."
Dr. Harmon nodded. "Will that help?"
Rosie nodded. "Definitely."
"That's fine." Dr. Harmon said "Lets get blood work done first." He said
A nurse came in and took her blood and it was taken for testing.
Dr. Harmon called for a transport person and she and Orrick took Rosie down.
"So. You just got back from Cali. How was it?" Orrick asked
"Good. A little sad the last couple days." Rosie said
"How come?" Orrick asked
Rosie explained what had happened.
"Well. You got some answers and closure. That's good right?" Orrick asked
"It is. And than I came home and possibly fucked up my friendship with Cass." Rosie said
Orrick shook his head. "What happened?" He asked
Rosie told him.
"Ah. Rosie. No. That's.." Orrick said
"I know. Stupid." Rosie said
"No. Not stupid." Orrick said. "Just thought with your heart not your brain. It happens." He said
"Thankfully don't think I will have to face her for a few extra days. Because as we passed the highschool there was a small fire. Doubt we will be going back in a couple days." Rosie said
"So you are just going to run from your problems?" Orrick asked
"Well. No. Just take a few extra days to figure out how to deal with them." Rosie said
"You are running Rosie and that isn't the right way." Orrick said.
She was taken into the x-ray room. Orrick stayed in the room with the tech. "I'm here Rosie." He said through the intercom.
"Just breathe. You are going to be okay." He said. All the tests were done.
She started to have some anxiety and breathing got heavy.
"Hey. Rose. I'm here. You're doing great. Just a few more minutes." Orrick said, "You have seen picture of your mom?" He asked through the intercom
"Yes." Rosie said
"What did she look like?" Orrick asked
"Well. When she was my age she looked like me. But darker. She was fully native american. I'm just half." Rosie said
"Well. You are definitely darker than your dad, so you have some of it." Orrick said
"You think so?" Rosie asked she was calming down.
"I do." Orrick said
Rosie smiled.
"You must look like your cousin." He said
"Some. But looking at old pictures of me compared to pictures of her when we were babies we used to look a lot more alike." Rosie said. "I think she looks more like her father… But darker than me. So the native comes out in her more than me. Because she's half like me."
"Very cool." Orrick said. "Guess what?"
"What?" She asked
"Tests are done." Orrick said
She was let out of the machine and the trip back to the room started.
"You did good kid." He said
Rosie smiled. "Thanks to you."
He shrugged. "Just talked to you."
They got back to the room. "She did great." Orrick said
Hunter smiled. "Good job."
Rosie smiled.
A nurse came in and handed Orrick a file. "Her bloodwork."
"Okay. Thanks." He said taking it.
"Are you allowed to look at them?" Hunter asked
"Yes. She gets the blood work because of the anorexia I'd get the results regardless." He said. He looked at Rosie.
"I'm going to give you a chance before I open this. I'm expecting them to be pretty close to the last blood test a couple months ago. Any chance that they could be different?" Orrick asked
Rosie shook her head. "I've had a couple bad days, but you know about them. I don't know if that will affect the numbers.
"No. It shouldn't." Orrick said. He opened it and looked it over. Tilted his head. "Your calcium and Iron are a little high."
"High?" Rosie asked
"Yes. Not crazy high. But higher than the average." He said
"What does that mean?" Hunter asked
"Well. I think the doctor should see this. He is better to determine." Orrick said
"Does it mean I can go off the supplements?" Rosie asked
"Not my call to make." Orrick said. "But otherwise it all looks good. I'm impressed."
Rosie smiled.
"I'm proud of you." Hunter said
Her smiled got bigger.
The doctor came back in the room. Orrick handed him the bloodwork. "Her calcium and iron are abit high."
The doctor looked it over and nodded. "Okay. You take supplements for both of those. You haven't raised the dosages?"
"No. Same since I started them." Rosie said
The doctor nodded. "Follow up with your family doctor. You will need to get some more blood work to determine if it was just a fluke." He said. He took out the x-rays. "Nothing is broken. Just likely bruised. You will be sore for awhile. Ice as you need it. Massage therapy can also help." He said
"Okay." Rosie said
"I will see you in session in a few days." Orrick said.
"Okay. Thank you." Rosie said
"Of course." Orrick said before he said bye to Hunter and leaving.
"Will get you discharged." The doctor said
Paperwork was done. Rosie changed back into her clothes and went with Hunter.
Rosie looked at her phone and had texts and checked the schools website. "school board acted fast. School is being delayed opening for two weeks." Rosie said
"Okay." Hunter said
She had texts from Cass. She sighed and texted back. 'I'm fine. Nothing broken.'
Before she texted Emily.
'Hey. So. School is being delayed opening for two weeks. Any chance I could get you to convince my dad to let me come see you for a week of it. I need some space from people around here.' she knew she was running but she didn't care. She missed Emily and London was far from home and she could use it as an excuse to turn off her phone and avoid people.
'Oh. why the delay?' Emily said
'Small fire. They need the time to repair. No one was hurt.' Rosie sent
Emily called Dave.
"Emily. Hello." Dave said
"So. I hear that school is being delayed opening because of a small fire?" She asked
"Yes. Just structural damages. Should be fixed in the two weeks." Dave said
"I want Rosie to come visit. And since you got me in trouble with Aaron telling him I smoke. I think you owe me." She said
Dave laughed. "You got yourself caught by Rosie. And than left a pack of cigarettes here. For the second time. You wanted to get caught."
"You think I wanted to have a two-hour lecture from Aaron?" Emily asked
"Well. Maybe not quite that, but you wanted to get caught." Dave said. "Emily you are not careless. You wouldn't leave a pack of cigarettes here twice. Especially after my daughter told you I found the first one and assumed it was one of her friends."
Emily sighed.
"Am I wrong?" Dave asked
"Maybe subconsciously." Emily said
"So. I owe you nothing." Dave said
"Oh. Come on let her come. It will be good for her. I miss her." Emily said, "And when your other girls are sixteen I will have them here too."
"I never said I wouldn't let her go. Let me talk to Hunter." Dave said
"Okay." Emily said.
Hunter and Rosie came into the house. "I will talk to him and let you know."
"Sounds good." Emily said. They said bye and hung up.
He looked at Rosie. "So?"
"Not broken. Got bloodwork done and my calcium and iron were a little high. Need to follow up with the family doctor." Rosie said
"Okay. Did you get to go in with her?" He asked Hunter.
"No. Dr. Harmon was being a hard ass." Rosie said
"But Orrick had been notified since he is treating her, and its protocol and he was able to. And she didn't need to be sedated." Hunter said
"Glad to hear it. Don't be rude. He was going his job." Dave said
"Sorry." She said
"Go. Rest." Dave said
Rosie went.
Dave looked at Hunter. "Emily was told. I'm guessing by Rosie. I think the two of them have schemed. But told that school is postponed opening. Emily has been telling me for weeks that we need to book for Rosie to go visit. This might be the best opportunity. What do you think?"
"Well. She is doing really well right now. And you are probably right." Hunter said, "I'm okay with it."
"She did also say when the other girls are sixteen she will invited them as well." Dave said
Hunter smiled. "Your family has been so quick to accept the girls."
Dave smiled. "Of course they have."
"We should get her into the doctor before she goes to figure out her blood work." Dave said
"Already booked herself an appointment for Monday afternoon. And you will be emailed the bloodwork req. She plans to get it done tomorrow." Hunter said
"She is covering her bases." Dave said
Hunter chuckled. "Probably."
Dave and Hunter went to talk to her. They knocked on her door
"Yes?" Rosie said
Hunter and Dave went in. She was laying down with an ice pack on her lower back
"You have a question for us?" Dave asked
Rosie tilted her head.
"Emily called me." Dave said
"Oh. What about?" Rosie asked biting her lip
"You don't know?" Hunter asked
"Well… I might." Rosie said
"So do you have a question for us?" Dave asked
"Emily has invited me to go to London. With school being opened in two weeks because of the fire. Can I please go?" Rosie asked
Dave smiled. "Yes. As long as everything with your bloodwork can be figured out you can go. For a week."
"Thank you!" Rosie said hugging her dad.
"And as long as your back heals enough. And don't be lying to us about it to go." Hunter said
"Okay." Rosie said with a smile hugging Hunter. "Thank you."
The rest of the day was uneventful. Rosie went to bed early. She was exhausted.
