The next few days were spent avoiding her friends. Cass had told someone what happened and now the whole friend group knew. Rosie was pissed and she was ignoring everyone. She was so glad she was getting out of the country. She knew when Orrick found out why she was postponing her session knowing she wanted to run away from it all he was going to be pissed but right now she didn't care. Her heart was completely broken. She knew that kissing Cass had been the worst thing she could do for her friendship. She hadn't told her dad and Hunter what was going on. And no, none of her friends were saying they were angry with her. Just that they heard what happened with Cass. But they had to be upset with her right. Especially Nolan. She didn't tell any of her friends that she was going to London.
She had her blood work done and had her doctors appointment. Turned out that it had just been a fluke, so she was still on the supplements, but she was okay with that. She was packing the day before she was leaving. Hayley knocked on her opened door.
Rosie looked up. "Hey."
Hayley came in and closed the door. "You know when I got invited to the party that made me part of the group. I got some texts."
Rosie sighed. "What did they say?"
"Well. Nolan said he's worried. That you have been ignoring all of the group." Hayley said
"Did they tell you anything of why I might be?" Rosie asked
"No." Hayley said.
Rosie let out a breath.
"But an eight-year-old told me something…" Hayley said
"Shit." Rosie said. "Do you all know?"
"Well… I don't think Scarlet and Kara know…" Hayley said
"But Callie, Mackenzie, and you. And obviously Maddy." Rosie said
"Yeah." Hayley said
"Don't tell dad and papa they know until I leave." Rosie said
"You're running?" Hayley asked
"I swear to god you tell them before I leave I will tell them you have been talking to a guy." Rosie said
"Wait, You know?" Hayley asked
"Yes I do." Rosie said
"Okay. I'll wait till you are gone." Hayley said
"Thank you." Rosie said
"I'm worry about you Rose." Hayley said
"I'm okay. Just need sometime to think." Rosie said
Hayley nodded. "Okay."

The next day Rosie was taken to the airport.
"You behave." Dave said
"I will. Promise." Rosie said
"You have your credit card?" Dave asked
"Yes." Rosie said
"Passport?" Dave asked
"Yes" Rosie said
"Your medications?" Dave asked
"Yes." Rosie said
"The british cash I gave you just in case?" He asked
"Yes." Rosie said
"Okay." Dave said
They got to the airport and went to where security was.
"You are becoming quite the traveler." He said
"I love it." Rosie said with a smile.
"You get in any trouble you will not be traveling alone till you are eighteen." He said
Rosie smiled. "I'll be good."
"Make sure Emily calls me when you get there." Dave said
"Will do." Rosie said. "Dad."
"Yes?" Dave said
"I will be okay." Rosie said
Dave hugged her.
Rosie hugged him.
"Okay. Go." He said
Rosie went through security grabbed herself a drink and sat down and texted her friends.
'I know I made a big mistake in kissing Cass. I wasn't thinking with my brain. I know that I likely hurt Cass and Nolan. I'm really sorry. I need some time to think and be away from everything going on. The fact that the school isn't opening for two weeks provides me with an opportunity to do so. I'm going to London to visit Emily. I will not have a working phone. When I get back I will be ready to listen to whatever you want to say to me. I'll be back on the 11th
Cass and Nolan. I am really, really sorry. I didn't mean to hurt either of you. I love you both.'
She pressed send before she could chicken out and turned off her phone.
She got on the flight and flew to England. Sleeping on the plane. When she got to London Emily was waiting for her. She hugged her tight. "You have no idea how good it is to see you." She said in tears.
Emily hugged her tight. "Hey are you okay?"
"No." Rosie said.
Emily just held her till she broke the hug.
"Come on. Lets go. We can talk." Emily said
They went out to Emily's car. "Oh call my dad first."
Emily did so.
Dave answered. "Hello."
"Hi Dave. She is here and safe." Emily said
"Put it on speaker." Dave said
Emily did.
"Rosie Bianca Rossi. Did you go to London to run from your problems?" Dave asked
Rosie groaned.
"And you made Hayley wait to tell us you have been avoiding your friends till after you left?" Dave asked
"Yea…" Rosie said. "Dad. I'm sorry. I'm just so overwhelmed. I needed space." Rosie said
"Rosie. Running from your problems. Scares me. Its reckless…" Dave said
"Yeah well I have ADHD it comes with the territory." Rosie said
"You also have anorexia. And it comes with that and that's what scares me." Dave said
"Dad my bloodwork numbers have been great. I haven't even attempted to skip a meal. I told you grandpa and I talked. I wasn't kidding about seeing thing differently." Rosie said
"Orrick called. To find out when you rescheduled your appointment. He told you not to run away from your problems." Dave said
"Yes. And I'm sure I'm going to hear about that when I get back." Rosie said
"Wait. When you told me you needed to get away. I didn't realize it was running from your problems." Emily said
Rosie smiled innocently at Emily.
"Wait. I know you had been telling me for months that you wanted her to come visit, but you never told me that you were pushing for it now because she told you she needed to get away." Dave said
"I assumed you knew." Emily said
"Rosie. Give me one good reason I shouldn't have Emily put you on a flight back home right now." Dave said
"Daddy no. You don't get it. You're a guy. And you don't get girl things. I love you and I love Hunter, but I needed a woman to talk to. And I cant be there right now. You know what happened. You know what I am dealing with." Rosie said
"I never said you couldn't talk to Emily. You could have called her. And I didn't have a problem with you going to see her but you manipulated the offer to make it so you could run from your problems. I let you go on this trip alone because you have shown me that you are mature and responsible enough that I could trust you." Dave said
"Daddy. I'm sorry." Rosie said softly.
Dave sighed.
"Dave. I'm not trying to over step your parenting. And if you want me to get her on the next flight back home I will do it. But I will talk to her. I'm not happy she left out some details either. But the invite was sincere." Emily said
Dave sighed and talked to Hunter.
"Okay. She can stay. But Rosie I can promise you that when you get back there will be a very long conversation." Dave said. "And Hunter and I are disappointed."
"Yes daddy. Sorry. Sorry papa…" She said softly
Dave saw the look on Hunter's face. He was caving but Dave shook his head.
"We love you Rosie." Dave said
"Love you both too." Rosie said
"If she causes you any trouble you let us know." Dave told Emily.
"Will do." Emily said they said their goodbyes and hung up.
"Emily. I'm sorry." Rosie said. "I wasn't really trying to manipulate you. You invited me and I needed to get a way I just thought it would line up well…"
Emily nodded. "I don't know if I can tell if you are lying."
"Apparently I have a tell. I don't know it, but my dad does. You can ask him. I'm not lying." Rosie said
Emily nodded. "Okay. But you left out some information. So what is going on?"
"Well. I'm still hurting from everything that happened with Nolan. And I found out that Cass still has feelings. Well probably not anymore cause I hurt her. But in my heart being broken I thought for like a minute that I might have feelings for Cass, and I told her that. But also told her that I don't know it its real or just confused and that seemed to be okay. But than. There was a moment. Where we locked eyes and…. We kissed. We both went for it. It wasn't me alone. But Maddy decided she needed to come talk to me or something and didn't knock. She opened the door and saw us kissing. And we both pushed each other away and I ran after Maddy who went to leave because she knew she saw something she wasn't supposed to. And I ended up slipping on the stairs and of course that caused dad and papa to come running and Cass to leave without us being able to talk about it…." Rosie said
"And you haven't talked to her since?" Emily asked
"Not really…. And she must have told someone in the group because everyone knows and has been texting me…." Rosie said
Emily sighed. "Wow. Have your friends been saying they are angry with you?"
"No. Just saying the know what happened and stuff." Rosie said
Emily nodded. "So you kissed. I'm taking it that it wasn't spark worthy?"
"Nope. Felt like kissing my sister or something…" Rosie said
Emily nodded "You sure Cass didn't feel the same way?"
"I don't know…" Rosie said
Emily nodded. "Okay. Well I don't appreciate that you left out that you were running from your problems."
Rosie nodded. "I really am sorry. And I'm sorry I got you busted for the smoking."
"I'm not upset with you about that." Emily said "I let that happen."
"Uncle Aaron pissed at you?" Rosie asked
"He was. Yes." Emily said. "Threated to come here and kick my ass."
Rosie giggled. "I'm sure you would have loved to see him."
"Yes I would have. I got the lecture anyways. At least if he was here I could have hugged him." Emily said
"And used your feminine charm to get him to forget about it?" Rosie asked
Emily shook her head with a smile. "Not talking to you about that."
"Why not?" Rosie asked
"Because you are sixteen." Emily said
"You think I don't know you two are having sex?" Rosie asked
"I didn't think you would be thinking about that." Emily said
"Sex is a normal part of a lot of healthy relationships." Rosie said with a shrug
"Did you and Nolan?" Emily asked
"No." Rosie said. "But doesn't mean our friends haven't."
"True." Emily said she pulled into the parking lot of her building.
The two got out and Rosie grabbed her bag, and they went inside. Emily showed her to the guest room.
"You still angry with me?" Rosie asked
"No." Emily said. "But you are going to contact Cass and talk to her."
Rosie sighed. "My phone doesn't work out here…"
"You can use my laptop and video chat." Emily said
Rosie groaned. "Do I have to do it now?"
"No. You can rest now. I'm sure you'd like to shower and nap?" Emily asked
Rosie nodded. "Yes."
Emily got her some towels and Rosie went and took a shower. Afterwards crashing as her body was feeling overly exhausted.
/\/\/\/\
When she woke up it was early morning. She got up and went into the kitchen and found herself some water. She knew Emily wouldn't mind if she helped herself. She took out the book she bought and sat down and started to read.
Emily came out of her room a couple hours later. "Morning."
"Morning." Rosie said.
"Hungry?" Emily asked
"Yes." Rosie said
Emily made them both breakfast. They were eating and her phone went off. She looked it was her boss.
She answered. "I'm off this week. What's up?"
Emily listened. "I have my sixteen-year-old niece here from the states. I'm not leaving her alone."
"Emily. Its okay." Rosie said
Emily held her hand up. "Just need me to sign some paperwork? Fine. I will be there later today."
Emily listened some more. "See you than." She hung up
"Sorry didn't mean to interrupt." Rosie said
"No. Its okay. When we go into town later I'll stop by the office wont take me more than half an hour." Emily said
"Okay." Rosie said with a smile.
They cleaned up from breakfast and both went and got dressed for the day and went out to do some shopping. When they ended by her office building they went inside and went to Emily's office.
"Sit. There are some drinks in the mini fridge. Help yourself. We will get lunch after." Emily said
"Okay." Rosie said sitting down dropping the excessive amounts of bags she had.
Emily went to find her boss to get the paperwork.
Rosie got herself some Dr. Pepper from in the fridge and sat down. A young man came into her office. "Hello?" he said. He had a british accent and was kinda cute.
"Hi." Rosie said. "You looking for Agent Prentiss? She should be back shortly"
"Well. I was but I think you seem much more interesting." He said
Rosie rolled her eyes.
"Okay. That was a really bad pick-up line attempt. Sorry. I am Charles." He said
Rosie smiled. "I'm Rosie." She said
"How do you know Agent Prentiss?" He asked
"She's my aunt. Sorta." Rosie said
"Sort of?" He asked
"She worked with my dad when she lived in the states. And the whole team that works there are who I call my family. So I call her my aunt." Rosie said, "How do you know her?"
"Ah. She arrested me." Charles said
"I'm sorry what?" Rosie asked
"Case of mistaken identity." Charles said
Rosie chuckled. "Oh. I'm not going to let her live that one down."
Charles chuckled. "So you are from the states. How long you here for?"
"A week. Got in last night." Rosie said
"And already putting a dent in a credit card?" He asked pointing to the bags
Rosie smirked. "Two. My own and Agent Prentiss's."
Charles chuckled.
Emily came into the room. "Charles. What are you doing in my office?"
"I was looking for you. You have my ID still." He said
"Right." Emily said opening the bottom drawer of her desk and taking out an envelope and handing it to him. "You haven't been hitting on my niece have you?" she asked
"No Ma'am." He said.
"He tried." Rosie said. "And failed."
Charles chuckled. "Okay. Yes. She is correct. Maybe I can rectify that. I could take you out to dinner." He asked Rosie out.
"No." Emily said
Charles nodded. "Okay. I get it. I will go."
Rosie smirked. "It was nice meeting you Charles."
Charles came over and shook her hand putting a piece of paper in it without Emily seeing. Rosie took the paper and slipped it in her pocket. She would look at it later.
Charles left the office.
"Can I ask why you didn't let me answer?" Rosie asked
"I figured it was easier for you. I know you are still mending a broken heart. If you answer wasn't going to be no it should have been. This way you got to save face." Emily said. "I can be the bad guy."
"One dinner does not constitute dating. It was a chance at a nice meal. I might have said yes." Rosie said
"Well. To bad. I'm not going to let you. Besides he is trouble." Emily said
"Ah. Okay. Got it. Dropping it." Rosie said
"Thank you." Emily said. "Now. Lets go get lunch." She said getting up and grabbing some of the bags. Rosie grabbed the rest and the two went and found a place to get lunch.
While they were waiting for their food. Rosie looked at Emily. "What kind of trouble is Charles?"
"Rosie. You said you'd drop it." Emily said
"I said I'd drop the dinner with him. But he told me that you arrested him, but it was a case of mistaken identity." Rosie said
"More case of he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. This time. He has been in trouble. Not the first time I run into him." Emily said
Rosie nodded she wanted more but wasn't going to push it.
"Drugs, drinking, in with the wrong people." Emily said
Rosie nodded. "Okay. Not the kind of person I'd want to hang around with."
"Glad to hear that. You're a good kid." Emily said
Rosie smiled and nodded. Their food came and they ate. Emily got up to go to the bathroom before the cheque came and when it did Rosie paid it. Her dad had told her not to let Emily pay for everything and this was a chance to keep that promise.
Emily came back to the table just in time for her to see her finish paying and shook her head. "I was going to pay."
"Yeah. Well I did." Rosie said with a smirk.
Emily chuckled and shook her head. "You got that line from your dad."
"Yup." Rosie said
The two got up and walked back to Emily's place they hung out at her place.
"You ready to try video chatting Cass?" Emily asked after they had been home for awhile.
"No…" Rosie said
"You cant avoid it forever." Emily said
"Can I just sent a message on facebook or something?" Rosie asked
"Is that fair to Cass?" Emily asked
Rosie sighed. "Okay. But not today."
"If not today than tomorrow." Emily said
"Okay." Rosie said they talked about girl stuff and made dinner and watched some movies. A truly good girls day. They stayed up late going to bed after two.
/\/\/\/\/
Rosie woke up the next morning around 11. She went into the kitchen there was a note.
Rose,
Sorry, had to go into the office. I left you cash meet me at the office for lunch at 2. Take a cab. Just get to any street and there will be one you can flag down. Here is the address to give them.
Em
Rosie went and got herself dressed and decided to walk to the building. She remembered how to get there and would save Emily some money. She left with plenty of time to get to the building. She got there about ten minutes early and was taken up to Emily's office.
"Hey. No problem getting a cab than." Emily said
"Actually I remembered how to walk here. And it's a beautiful day." She said before handing her the cash.
Emily chuckled. "Fair enough."
Her boss came into the room. "Can I speak to you? Its urgent."
Emily got up and went with him. Rosie watched the conversation but couldn't tell what they were saying. Emily came back into her office. "You ready? Lets go."
Rosie got up and went with her. "You didn't need to stay?"
"No. He's lucky I came in at all today. I'm supposed to be off." Emily said
Rosie chuckled.
They went and found some lunch.
"Can I ask what it was about?" Rosie asked
"You can ask. But I cant tell you." Emily said
Rosie nodded. "Fair enough."
They finished eating. Emily's phone was going off every five minutes with a text.
"Emily. Look I get it if you need to go to the office. I can go do a tour of Buckingham palace that I wanted to do last time but couldn't." Rosie said.
Emily took a breath. "Will your dad be pissed I left you alone?"
"Call and ask." Rosie said
Emily called Dave and verified that it would be okay. Dave was fine with it. He understood sometimes thing happened and he knew Emily wouldn't be leaving her over night.
Emily handed her the cash. "If you need a cab or something. And you have my address right?" Rosie said her address out loud.
"Okay." Emily said. "Have fun. Stay safe."
Rosie smiled and nodded. She went and went to the palace and got a ticket for a tour. She was taking the tour when the cute british guy from Emily's office came up next to her. "apparently great minds think alike." He said
Rosie looked up and took a breath, "Hi Charles." She said
"Where is your aunt?" He asked
"Working. Something came up." Rosie said
"Ah. So you are alone in a city you don't know." Charles said
"I know it well enough to do this tour and get back to my aunt's" Rosie said
"What if I could show you some things that only locals know?" He asked
"Pretty sure you were told no when it came to taking me out." Rosie said with a smirk
"Ah yes. But as you said she is not here." Charles said
Rosie chuckled and shook her head. "No she is not. But I feel like if I agreed she would show up and drag me back to her place by the ear and put me on the first plane home."
"Ah. So you are interested?" He asked
"I never said that." Rosie said with a smile. Her brain was screaming at her that this was a bad idea to just say no and walk away. But this boy as so cute and he had a fucking British accent. And every girl was supposed to fall for a bad boy at least once right?
"Well are you?" Charles asked
"I'm enjoying this tour." Rosie said
"Well how about after that? Just for an hour or so?" Charles asked. "I will make sure you get back to your aunt's and she will not know." He said
Rosie took a breath and didn't answer just continued the tour.
When the tour finished Charles was still there. "So what do you say?" He asked
"Where are you going to take me? And is it walking distance?" She asked
"Walking distance yes. Location. A surprise." He said
"No. I need to know the place." She said
"Okay." He told her the name of a place and told her where it was.
Rosie nodded. "Okay." They left the palace together and started the walk. She had a lot of fun, and he bought her some fries. She smiled at the calling them 'chips' it sounded better in a british accent. Eventually they started back to Buckingham palace.
"One more place I want to show you." He said
"Okay." Rosie said with a smile. He seemed like such a nice guy. Maybe the things Emily said where in his past. Maybe he had changed. He took her to a secluded place. It had started to spit rain a bit "What is this?" she asked
"Place I have taken a girl or two before." He said.
"Okay. Um. No." Rosie said walking back the way they came.
He grabbed her arm and pulled her into a little building. It was dusty and smelled musty. "Charles. No." Rosie said trying to pull away. He pushed her up against the wall pinning her arms above her head and forcing a kiss on her. Rosie kneed him hard in the groin and bit his lip hard. He yelped and backed away. Rosie took the opportunity to run. She ran out of the building and out to the street. She was in tears. She ran until she found a pay booth. She took out some change from her pocket and put it in the phone and dialed Emily's number.
"Agent Prentiss." She said answering the number she didn't know.
"Emily." Rosie said sobbing
"Rosie. What's wrong?" She asked
"I-I was at the palace and Charles showed up and he offered to show me around to some little know places. I know you said no but it was all walking distance and public, so I didn't see the harm. Till he took me to this secluded place. And he forceable kissed me. I got away but I don't know where I am anymore." She said sobbing.
"Okay. You calling me from a phone booth?" Emily asked getting up.
"Yes." Rosie said.
"Look around. What do you see?" Emily asked as she headed out tapping a couple of her co-workers to come with her.
"Um. Some buildings. Oh I see a restaurant." And said what is was called.
"There are a few of those. What else is around?" Emily asked
Rosie sobbed. "Emily I don't know. I'm scared he is going to find me."
"Rosie. I need you to breathe. I am coming but I need to know more." Emily said
Rosie took a breath and looked around. "I see some apartment buildings. What looked the commercial office buildings."
"Do you see numbers?" Emily asked
It had started pouring rain at this point and she couldn't see anything. "No. I cant see anything like that with the rain." Rosie sobbed out.
"Okay. I am coming and I have a few other agents coming too. Going to go to the different places you could be. They will show you a badge and use the codeword bubbles. If you don't see a badge and don't give you the codeword do not go with them." Emily said. They had been looking for Charles all day. He was who Emily had to go back to the office to deal with. And she knew he had connections to people who could hurt Rosie if they found her.
"Okay." Rosie said. "Emily. I'm so, so sorry." She sobbed out
"I know sweet girl. Its going to be okay." Emily said going to the location she thought was the right one. She got there but it wasn't the right one. Another agent found her.
"Rosie Rossi?" He asked showing her the badge.
"What's the word?" she asked shakily
"Bubbles." He said
Rosie opened up the phone booth and went with him to a car. He got her a blanket and wrapped it around her as she was freezing. He called Emily.
"Prentiss." She said
"Got her. She's okay." He said
"Oh thank god." Emily said
"Want me to bring her back to the office or to your place?" He asked
"The office." Emily said
Everyone went to the office and Rosie was brought into the building Emily was coming in at the same time. Rosie went to her and hugged her sobbing.
Emily hugged her. "Hey. Its okay. You're okay. Everything will be okay" she said
Rosie calmed down some and Emily took her up to her office sitting her down and sitting down on the table in front of her couch.
"Look at me." Emily said to her.
Rosie looked up at her.
"Did he hurt you?" Emily asked
"Not really. My wrist a bit when he slammed my hands into the wall above my head." She said
"Let me see." Emily said
Rosie showed her the wrist that hurt a little.
"Looks a little swollen but nothing serious." Emily said. She went to the first aid kit in her office and got a tensor bandage and sat back down and wrapped her wrist.
"You're going to send me home aren't you?" Rosie asked
"I don't know." Emily said.
"Emily. I'm really sorry." She said
"I know. I know you didn't expect it to turn out this way. I know he's cute and has the accent." Emily said with a sigh
Rosie looked down. "Stupid accent."
Emily smiled abit. "It is a very nice accent. However I told you that he as not good news."
"I know. I just thought. We were walking everywhere he wanted to show me, and it was all public… Till the end. And as soon as I realized it wasn't public I tried to leave." Rosie said
"I get that. I do. But Rosie. You know I'm all for teenagers dating, having fun. If I didn't think you would be in danger I wouldn't have had an issue with it." Emily said
Rosie nodded.
"And regardless of that. You knew that I said no. Even if I was being unfair. You are my responsibility. You knew you were doing what you weren't supposed to." Emily said
"Yes ma'am." Rosie said
"You want to know why I had to work this afternoon?" Emily asked
Rosie looked at her and nodded abit.
"To find Charles. He murdered someone last night." Emily said
"What?!" Rosie said
"There is video. It was him. No question." Emily said
"Oh my god…" Rosie said
"He could have done a lot worse than he did to you." Emily said
Rosie nodded. "I wont ever do something like this again."
Emily nodded. "You know we have to call your dad."
Rosie groaned.
"I don't want to hear any arguments about it." Emily said
"Yes ma'am." Rosie said
Emily took out her phone and called Dave on speaker.
"Emily. Hello. She's staying out of trouble I hope." Dave said
"Well. I will start by saying. She is okay. She is with me and not hurt. You're on speaker." Emily said
"Okay." Dave said. "But something happened."
"Yes." Emily said
"Rosie. What happened?" Dave asked
"Yesterday when we were out Emily had to stop by the office to sign some paperwork. This guy. I think he's about my age. Came into her office while I was waiting for her to finish. We talked abit. He flirted. Badly but he seemed sweet. Emily came into the office and gave him what he needed from her. He asked me out for dinner. Emily said no. And later told me that he was bad news." Rosie said
"Bad news? How bad?" Dave asked
"Drug, alcohol, in with the gangs. He upgraded his crime to murder last night. He is why I had to work today. I didn't tell Rosie that part. Because I assumed by our conversation I didn't need to worry about it." Emily said
"Okay. Rosie go on I know there is more." Dave said
"I went to Buckingham palace today. And he happened to be there. He flirted and asked me if he could show me some locally known places. I did hesitate for awhile. But he. He wore me down… They were all walking distance and in public places. Till the last place. He took me to this abandoned shack, and I went to leave because I no longer felt safe. He grabbed me pulled me into the shack. He forcibly kissed me while slamming me into the wall and my hands above my head. I kneed him. Bit his lip hard and ran. It was starting to rain, and we had gone to far away from any area I knew. So I found a phone booth and called Emily." Rosie said
"With her descriptions of where she was I went with a few of the agents I work with to try and find her. She was found and we are at my office now." Emily said, "Her wrist is a little swollen but otherwise she is okay."
"Okay." Dave said "How did he know where you were today?" Dave asked
"I don't know. I guessed at the time it was a coincidence." Rosie said
Emily took a breath. "What are you wearing that you were wearing yesterday?"
"Um. My jacket. And I had my purse." Rosie said she took off her coat and handed it and her purse to Emily. Emily check it all over finding the paper in her pocket and raised and eyebrow. "This is a phone number, and it says Charles."
"He gave me his number yesterday when you weren't looking. I did not call him." Rosie said
Emily nodded. "Okay." She kept looking till she found the bug. "Found the bug." Emily said
Dave sighed.
"Dave. I am so sorry. I had no idea." Emily said
"I know Emily. She disobeyed you. And he took advantage of her." Dave said
"I'm sorry." Rosie said.
"What do you want me to do about this?" Emily asked
"Have you got the guy?" Dave asked
"There is a full-fledged man hunt going on. He picked the wrong person to mess with." Emily said "No one messes with bubbles." Emily said
"That's gonna stick isn't it.." Rosie said
"Already has." Emily said with a smile
Rosie let out a breath. "Dad. Please say something."
"I'm not sure what to say. I'm glad you are okay. I know that he manipulated you. But you knew you weren't allowed with him. Period. Correct?" He asked
"Yes." Rosie said sighing
"Excuse me?" he said not liking the tone.
"Yes sir." She said quickly
"Emily do you want to send her home?" Dave asked
"I know that I want to hand her, her butt but that's all I really know at the moment. I'm just. She was with a murderer. He had his hands on her." Emily said
"Yeah. That feeling. It comes when you love a child, and they do something so uncharacteristically stupid. And yes Rosie. What you did today was stupid." Dave said
"Yes sir." Rosie said
"You're terrified because she could have lost her life today by disobeying you." Dave said
"Yup." Emily said.
Emily noticed commotion out side her office. She looked up. "Oh my god. He is here. In cuffs. We got him."
Dave let out a sigh of relief. "But if he has ties to gangs?"
"He will talk." Emily said
Rosie got up and looked at him. He saw her. Rosie went to go say something to him.
"Rosie. Stop. No. You do not go out there." Emily said
Rosie took a breath.
"Rosie. Do not make me spank you right here." Emily said sternly
Rosie went and sat back down on the couch and put her head in her hands sobbing.
Emily sighed and sat next to Rosie and wrapped her arms around her.
Rosie sobbed into her.
"Dave I need you to tell me what you want me to do." Emily said.
"Rosie. I need you to calm down a little so we can talk before I decide." Dave said
Rosie calmed down. "Okay."
"Do you want to stay for the rest of the week or come home?" Dave asked
"I don't know…" Rosie said looking down. "Emily is really angry with me."
"Yes, I am." Emily said. "But I don't think I'm any angrier than your dad is, or papa will be when he finds out."
"She's got that right." Dave said.
"But I am more disappointed." Emily said
Rosie let out a breath. "Not better."
"No. Its not. But it's the truth." Emily said
"Emily. Can you handle this the way it needs to be?" Dave asked
"Yes." Emily said.
"And you don't want to send her home?" Dave asked
"No. There is going to be a lot of conversations I would like to have with her over the next few days." Emily said
"She can stay. But I can promise you Rosie. If you do anything else that you shouldn't. I do not care how Emily handles it you will be spanked here too. Am I clear?" Dave asked
"Yes sir. Crystal clear." Rosie said
"Okay." Dave said. "Rosie. I love you."
"I love you to daddy." Rosie said.
"Keep me updated." Dave said
"I will." Emily said before they said goodbye and hung up.
Rosie looked at Emily. "If he followed me today. He put that tracker on yesterday. Meaning your place?"
"High security. If that tracker is connected to any of his little friends they wont get in." Emily said
Rosie nodded. "Okay."
"And you will not be out of my sight for the rest of this trip." Emily said
"Understood." Rosie said
"Come on. Lets get home. Its been along day." Emily said
"Okay." Rosie said getting up and going with her.
When then got back to her place Emily made sure the place was secure before looking at her.
"Okay. Get some sleep. We will talk in the morning." Emily said
Rosie nodded abit and looked so sad as she started for the bedroom
"Hey Rosie." Emily said
Rosie looked at her. "Yes?"
"You know that this doesn't change that I love you right?" Emily said
Rosie looked down and shrugged.
Emily went over to her and wrapped her in hug. "Sweetheart I know that you are going to make mistakes. Do things you shouldn't do. Doesn't mean that I don't love you when you do."
Rosie hugged the older woman and sobbed.
Emily held her. "Its going to be okay."
Rosie sobbed for a good ten minutes till she was out of tears.
Emily held her to the bedroom. "Get some sleep."
Rosie nodded and changed when Emily left the room before crawling into the bed and feeling asleep cuddling her elephant.
/\/\/\
The next morning Rosie woke up and looked at the clock on the bedside table. It was just after nine. She sighed and rolled onto her back. She replayed everything that had happened the day before. It had gone really well. Till it didn't. He had been really nice to her till it was like something changed. But she realized it had all been part of his plan to get her to trust him and get her alone where he would have hurt her if she didn't get away. She wasn't sure if he would have raped her. Maybe killed her. She couldn't believe she had willing put herself in that situation. Again… She trusted someone she shouldn't have. Someone had led her into a false sense of security. Again. She groaned. If Nolan ever spoke to her again after everything that happened with Cass he was going to be so annoyed with her. Why did she care so much though? Yes he was her friend. But so were the others. Why did she worry more about his reaction? Yes they had been really close…she sighed. It was because in spite of everything. She still loved him so much.
She sat up slowly and stretched. She removed the tensor bandage from her wrist and rotated her wrist. It was okay. Didn't hurt anymore. She slipped on her slippers before she went into the kitchen. Emily was on the phone.
"I don't care what he claims. You saw her. We all saw her. She was a mess." Emily said to the person on the phone.
Rosie cleared her throat a bit letting Emily know she was there. It didn't take a generous to figure out what she was talking about.
Emily turned to look at her. "She's awake. I have to go. Use your brain. You know he is lying." She said before she hung up.
"He claiming I wanted it?" Rosie asked when she was off the phone
Emily sighed. "Yes."
"Thank you for defending me." Rosie said
"I know you wouldn't make that up. Of course I will have your back." Emily said
Rosie smiled abit.
"Tensor bandage fall off?" Emily asked
"Took it off. Wrist doesn't hurt anymore." Rosie said
Emily made a face and went over to her and touched a bruise on her face.
"Did he hit you?" Emily asked
Rosie flinched abit and shook her head. She went and looked in a mirror. "I don't know. Um. Maybe when he shoved me into the wall my face hit something?"
Emily nodded. "Come I need to take a picture for the evidence."
Rosie went with her, and Emily took a picture and sent it to one of her partners with the explanation.
"Okay. You hungry?" Emily asked
"A little." Rosie said
Emily made them both some breakfast. And they both ate.
Emily noticed her taking her medication. "What is that for again?"
"ADHD. And calcium and iron supplements." Rosie said
Emily nodded. "They help?"
"Yes. I forgot my ADHD meds. One day. Didn't end well. And the calcium and iron. I have gone off them before and just a week made a difference in my numbers." Rosie said
Emily nodded. "Didn't end well?"
"I'm sure someone told you about the fire next door?" Rosie asked
"Yes. You took the car when you were very upset after being told to wait." Emily said
"Not something I would have done if I had really been properly medicated. One day makes a difference." Rosie said
Emily nodded. "Helps your brain make the right decision."
"Helps my brain function a little more like a neurotypical person. Reckless behaviours is just part of what someone with ADHD can struggle with." Rosie said before she let out a sigh.
"What?" Emily asked
"I think I forgot them yesterday…." Rosie said
Emily sighed.
"Its not an excuse. I'm not trying to make an excuse just to be clear." Rosie said
Emily nodded. "You sure you forgot?"
"I think so. I cant be sure. Its hard to remember when you are used to taking it everyday. But being in a new environment." Rosie said
"I was with you for breakfast the first day. I don't think you took them than." Emily said
Rosie nodded abit. "I might not have."
"Rosie. That's not good." Emily said
"I know…" Rosie said.
"Well. You took them now. Nothing we can do about the last two days. Tell your dad. And I will help you remember the rest of the time you are here." Emily said
Rosie nodded. "Okay."
They finished eating and cleaned up.
"Come. We have a lot to talk about." Emily said
Rosie let out a breath and went with her to the bedroom.
Emily sat on a chair that was in the room. Rosie sat on the bed and crossed her leg and looked down and her hands.
"You need to look at me." Emily said
Rosie looked up.
"I know that this situation didn't end as you expected. I know you would never have gone with him if you though it would end the way it did. I know you are dealing with a lot at home. With your friends. With Nolan. With everything with your family in California. And spreading your mom's ashes." Emily started
Rosie nodded abit
"And I know that you have been putting on a face pretending that you are completely okay with six new sisters and a new parent into the home. And I know you love them. And love that your dad is happy but its okay for the changes to be hard for you. And you need to be honest with your dad about it." Emily said
Rosie looked down. 'Shit' she though. No one had picked up on that till now.
"Rosie. Look at me." Emily said
Rosie looked back up.
"And I know that you forgot you medication and based on everything you have told me and what I know from what your dad has said. That yes it can explain some reckless behaviour. But not ignoring my clear no about spending time with that boy." Emily said
"Yes ma'am." Rosie said
"You and I have never had any problems." Emily said
"Emily its okay. I know I messed up. I know there are consequences. I trust you completely. It was only a matter of time." Rosie said
Emily nodded. "Okay. I'm glad to know you trust me." She moved to the bed next to Rosie. She helped her over her lap and pushed down her pajama shorts.
"I'm really disappointed that you did the complete opposite of what I told you and I hope that we never have to have this conversation again." She said before she started to spank.
It didn't take long for Rosie to start crying. The guilt she felt had been eating at her and as much as she hated being spanked it always did help her feel better and she knew at the end there was a clean slate with the person and the situation. Which was why for the most part she didn't squirm when she was being spanked. After twenty smacks Emily knew it was enough. The girl had known what she did wrong, and this was just to make sure the lesson was stuck in her brain.
When she was done she helped Rosie to sitting next to her again and wrapped her in a hug and let her sob into her.
Rosie sobbed for a few minutes before slowly calming down.
She pulled apart and Emily took her chin in her hands. "Slate is clean. You are forgiven."
Rosie nodded.
Emily hugged her again.
Rosie hugged her tight.
They broke the hug.
"Now. I know I said today you needed to call your friends. You up for it?" Emily asked
"I wont ever be ready for it…" Rosie said
"Well than just do it. You will feel better after." Emily said
Rosie nodded.
Emily gave her one final hugged before leaving the room to go to her own. That had been the hardest thing she ever had to do. She sat on her bed and let out a breath before calling Aaron.
"Emily. Hey." He said
"Aaron." Emily said
"What's wrong?" Aaron asked
"Have you heard about what happened with Rosie?" Emily asked
"No. Haven't talked to Dave yet today though." Aaron said
"Well. I'll let him tell you. She's fine. But I just had to spank her." Emily said
"Oh. That's a first for you isn't it?" Aaron asked
"Yeah. First time having to do that with anyone." Emily said
"Its not easy. But if you felt you -had to. Than she did something pretty bad. You are definitely easier going than most of us." Aaron said
"Oh. It was bad." Emily said
"She fight the punishment?" Aaron said
"Not at all." Emily said
"Than she knew she deserved it." Aaron said
"You've had to spank her before right?" Emily asked
"Just once." Aaron said.
"I hope that I never have to do that again." Emily said
"No good parent. Or person responsible for a child wants to do that. We do it because sometimes it is necessary. Rosie is a good kid, but she makes mistakes. And its our job as her family to make sure she learns that when she messes up that there are consequences. You see every day what happens when kids don't get proper consequences. So the occasionally spanking is preferred than having to visit her in prison right?" Aaron asked
"Or having to visit her grave." Emily said
Aaron looked up from his desk where Dave was standing in the door.
"Well Emily if whatever she did put her at risk of an early grave than you did the right thing." Aaron said
"Put it on speaker." Dave said
Aaron did so. "Em. You're on speaker Dave is here."
"Hi Dave." Emily said
"Emily. Do not feel bad for having to spank her. She deliberately disobeyed you. And yes if she didn't get away we both know I could be planning her funeral right now. Her having a sore butt for a day or two is minimal." Dave said
Emily sighed. "Okay, You're right. Oh should let you know. I'm on top of it now but I think she wasn't thinking very clearly. I don't think she took her medication the last couple days. She did this morning." Emily said
"Well. That does explain some of it. But not disobeying you." Dave said
"I know. Even she said when she realized that it wasn't an excuse." Emily said
"Glad to know she realizes that. That's a big step." Dave said
"I'm going to let you two go. I'm sure Dave wants to vent about his daughters bad choices." Emily said
"Stupid choices." Dave said. "And yes. Talk to you later Emily."
Aaron nodded. "Okay. Emily. I will talk to you later."
"Okay. Bye Aaron. Bye Dave." Emily said hanging up
Dave sat down and told Aaron everything that had happened.
Meanwhile Rosie had made the bed and got dressed in the comfiest clothes she had brought and brushed her hair putting it up in a messy bun before going out to the living room with her laptop.
Emily got dressed as well and picked up her room before going out to the living room. "You think your friends will be up yet?"
"No." Rosie said. "Not for another hour or two."
Emily nodded. She dug into a basket under her coffee table and pulled out a notebook and flipped till she found the page she was looking for. "This is the internet information."
"Thank you." Rosie said taking the notebook and logging into Emily's internet.
"I'm debating covering up the bruise on my face." Rosie said
"Not ready to tell your friends what happened?" Emily asked
"Most of them I have no issues telling. Nolan though." Rosie said
Emily nodded. "He's going to be angry?"
"Well. Considering how annoyed he was with me after I put myself in a similar situation with the neighbour. And we hadn't been dating yet. We have dated and honestly I think we both still want to be together. So if Nolan doesn't hate me for what I did to Cass, and he asks. Yeah. He is going to be upset I put myself in that situation." Rosie said And will also mean admitting I was spending time with another guy…"
"Okay. Well. Yes. He has the right to be upset you put yourself in danger. But. You are allowed to move on. And would you have even considered that a date or just hanging out?" Emily asked
"I think he thought it was a date." Rosie said
"But did you?" Emily asked
"No." Rosie said
"So. Even if you and Nolan were still together. You are allowed to spend time with other boys when you are dating. And Nolan knows that you are not just into guys. Has he ever had an issue with you hanging out with anyone?"
"No." Rosie said
"So you didn't do anything wrong with hanging out with another guy outside of the fact that I told you no. But that is over with now. So. Let it go." Emily said
Rosie nodded and smiled.
Her skype started to ring. She looked at it and sighed.
"Who?" Emily asked
"Cass." Rosie said
"Answer it." Emily said before leaving the room
Rosie answered it. "Hi."
"Rosie. I'm so sorry." Cass said
"You're sorry? I'm the one who should be sorry." Rosie said
"I'm the one who kissed you." Cass said
"Well. No. We both went for it… But I didn't think it through. I was just hurting and didn't think." Rosie said
"So. You have been avoiding me because you think you did something wrong?" Cass asked
"Yes." Rosie said
"Rosie!" Cass said. "Idiot!"
Rosie scowled. "Hey!"
"I'm sorry. But Rose. You are my best friend. Even if you had been the one to kiss me we both know… There was nothing. No spark." Cass said
Rosie let out a breath. "Oh fucking thank god you felt that too."
Cass laughed. "Was… just weird."
"Like kissing a sister." Rosie said
"Yes." Cass said.
"You're not lying to me to save face and make me feel better?" Rosie asked
"No. Promise." Cass said
"Jesus fuck." Rosie said
"What happened to your face? You get in a fight with the kings guard?" Cass asked with a smirk
Rosie laughed. "I wish that was all it was."
"Oh shit. What did you do?" Cass asked
"Cass. Its bad. I'm lucky to be sitting her in one piece right now." Rosie said
"Jesus Rose. Tell me what happened." Cass said
Rosie did so.
When she was done Cass was shaking her head.
"Please don't be disappointed. Its going to be bad enough when I tell Nolan." Rosie said
Cass sighed. "Well. Yeah. He's going to be pissed. I'm pretty sure if you were still together it would be worse."
"I don't know if it will be. I think we are both feeling the same thing. We both just want to be back to what we were." Rosie said
"Than go back to that." Cass said
"I don't know if he's going to want to now…" Rosie said
"Why? Because he's going to be upset that you put yourself in that situation?" Cass asked
"That. And well. I guess if you have told people you were the one who messed up they aren't upset with me? But they will be when they find out I'm the one who fucked up." Rosie said
"Well. No one was really upset with me. So I doubt they would be with you. But Rose we both wanted to do that. Its no ones fault. Neither of us should feel bad." Cass said.
Rosie nodded. "Okay. Deal."
"Now. Call Nolan. And the others because they might be more upset that you have been avoiding us. And we all know you took off to London to run away from your problems." Cass said
Rosie sighed. "Wouldn't happen to know that because of a sister of mine?"
"Yup." Cass said
"Going to kick her ass." Rosie said
"I will say Nolan isn't happy you did that." Cass said
Rosie scrunched up her face. "How pissed?"
"He said that you are the most stubborn person he has ever met." Cass said
"Okay." Rosie said
"You're on video chat. Emily around?" Cass asked
"Yes." Rosie said
"Don't think you want me to say what he said he wanted to do." Cass said
Rosie raised an eyebrow.
"I think he has found great interest in a certain book series." Cass said smirking
"What series is that?" Rosie asked
"Come on. The guys have been talking about wanting to read it for years, but their parents would be livid." Cass said
Rosie's jaw dropped. "Fucking hell if he thinks that would ever happen."
Cass laughed. "Have you read it?"
"NO! My dad wont let me read his books you think I would even be able to bring those into the house?!" Rosie asked
"Well some of the guys have done it somehow." Cass said
"I'm good. Don't need to read those books." Rosie said, "Have you read them?"
"No. But I can. My mom bought them to read. Told me I could if I wanted to." Cass said
Rosie nodded. "Okay."
Emily came into the room. "Sorry. I don't want to make this awkward for either of you. But I need to speak up. Just to be very clear. Those books are -not a good example of that kind of relationship. If either of you ever want to try that. I don't need to know. But do -not use those books as an example. That kind of relationship can be done in a healthy way and is very normal for some adults couples. But those books don't show a healthy example."
Rosie looked away blushing hard. Cass said nothing
"Girls. Promise me if you ever decided to try that when you are adult you will do your research." Emily said. There was no denying how serious she was.
"Promise I will never be into that. But if that somehow changes I promise I will do my research." Rosie said
"Ditto." Cass said
"Okay." Emily said
"So you have read them?" Rosie asked Emily
"I have." Emily said
Rosie nodded and opened her mouth to ask a question but changed her mind.
Emily chuckled as she left the room. She knew what the girl was going to ask but she would not have answered.
Rosie looked at Cass.
Cass let out a huffed chuckle.
"I really hope she doesn't tell my dad about this conversation." Rosie said
Cass laughed. "Me too."
"Thanks by the way. I'm not going to be able to look Nolan in the eyes for awhile.." Rosie said
"Sorry." Cass said.
Rosie sighed.
"You going to wait till you get home to talk to him?" Cass asked
"Considering I was basically forced to talk to you before I came home not likely." Rosie said
"Emily made you?" Cass asked
"Yeah. When she found out that I took the opportunity of her invitation to come visit sometime as a way to run away from my problems. She wasn't thrilled. This is the consequence for that I think." Rosie said
Cass nodded. "Rose. You don't ever need to run from any problems we have. We are best friends. We can work though anything."
Rosie nodded. "Okay. Sorry. I shouldn't have avoided you like I did."
"Its forgiven." Cass said
They talked a little longer before the ended the chat. Rosie got up from the couch and went and found Emily in the kitchen.
"Can I ask you a question?" Rosie asked
"Of course." Emily said
"I don't want to pry into your sex life. But you said that kind of relationship is healthy in adult couples." Rosie said
"It can be yes. When it involves consenting adults. Who fully understand everything that is involved. And it can vary in a lot of ways based on each couple or such." Emily said
Rosie nodded. She bit her lip.
"I will not answer -that questions." Emily said
"So. Yes." Rosie said smiling a bit.
Emily sighed. "Rosie. You are sixteen. I am not sharing details of my sex life of any of my relationships with you."
Rosie nodded abit. "Okay." She said turning to leave the room.
Emily took a breath. "Does your dad talk to you about sex at all?"
Rosie turned back around. "Not really. Early on when the topic of dating came up. He told me he'd rather I wait till I'm an adult and in a serious relationship for me to have sex. But if I was going to that I could go to him, and he would get me on the pill."
Emily nodded. "And you haven't had sex right?"
"No. I haven't." Rosie said. "When I was ten. Um. Beatrice and Darrel forced me to do some purity promise thing. I had a purity ring. Till the night I found out who I really was. I threw it off the look out in Rocklin. But I still don't want to take that step till I'm sure. And the only person I would have ever considered that with would be Nolan. And he has made a similar promise. He wears a purity ring."
Emily nodded. "I get I'm a woman you look up to. And I will be an ear for you when you are ready for that step. And yes I will tell you I am sexually active. But you're not naive you knew that." Emily said. "And I know you know your dad is as well. And its perfectly normal for two people in a relationship to have sex. I'm sure the reason your dad wants you to wait is because young people can sometimes be so quick to give it up and regret it. You know how my first experience was."
Rosie nodded. "I just. Those books. No I haven't read them, but everyone knows the basis of what they are about. And I always though that kind of relationship tethered towards abuse. But you said it can be healthy."
Emily nodded. "Not everyone wants that kind of relationship. And yes a lot of people think like you. And people don't realize its more common that most people think. And there is nothing wrong with it if everyone involved in 100% consenting. So. You don't ever need to be into it. But you also need to be opened minded to the fact that it is perfectly healthy if done in the right way."
Rosie nodded. "Okay." They were quiet for a bit.
"When I'm eighteen will you be more willing to talk more about your experiences with it?" Rosie asked
"I didn't say I had any personal experiences with it. I learned a lot when we had a case that was linked to that world." Emily said. That wasn't a lie.
"Oh." Rosie said
"So if you have general questions. I might be able to answer them. But google also could have those answers. When you are an adult. To be very clear." Emily said
"Yes. I got that." Rosie said
"Okay." Emily said, "But its perfectly normal to be curious about these things."
Rosie smiled abit and nodded.
"You going to be okay to have a conversation with Nolan after that?" Emily asked
"You heard the whole conversation huh?" Rosie asked
"Yes. I don't judge anything. That boy loves you. I know that he wouldn't force any kind of relationship on you that you didn't want." Emily said
Rosie nodded. "You're absolutely right."
"And I can understand why he is frustrated with you." Emily said with a smile
Rosie chuckled abit and nodded.
Her skype started to ring. She went to her computer and sighed. "Don't get to make that decision I guess." She said before she answered Nolan.
"Hi." She said
Nolan's arms were crossed. "I don't. Appreciate that you ran away from your problems." He said
"Oh please don't give me that look." Rosie said sadly.
"You don't get to decide how I feel. So you will deal with the look." Nolan said
Rosie nodded and looked down.
"So. The text. Rose. You know that we aren't dating right now. So if you kiss anyone. Does it hurt? Maybe a little but you don't owe me an explanation if you do." Nolan said
Rosie nodded abit.
"And Cass seems to think she is the one who messed up." Nolan said
"Yeah. I just got off video chat with her. We both wanted to kiss. But both thought we messed up. Both realize that we didn't feel sparks." Rosie said looking up at him.
Nolan nodded. "Cass mentioned that she was somewhat glad the kiss happened because it ended the crush because of that."
"Well. At least the kiss was good for something." Rosie said
"Heard you feel down the stairs running after one of the twins when she came into the room without knocking." Nolan said
Rosie chuckled. "Yup. I'm fine. Went to the hospital. Just a bruised tail bone."
"That how you got the bruise on your face somehow?" he asked
Rosie looked down and shook her head.
"Rose. What happened?" He asked
"I'd rather not say." Rosie said
Nolan sighed. "god you are so fucking stubborn."
"Yeah. I heard you told Cass I was the most stubborn person you have ever met." Rosie said
"Yes. I -did. And you -are." Nolan said
Rosie chuckled.
"So. I'd like you to tell me what happened to your face." Nolan said
Rosie took a breath and told him not looking up at the computer the whole time.
When she was done. It was silent for a few minutes.
Rosie looked up to make sure Nolan was still there. He was. She looked back down. He was pissed. And his face showed it.
To say Nolan was surprised would be an under statement. He ran his hand across the stubble on his chin. He hadn't shaved yet that day. "You knew about the things he had been involved in. And still went with him?"
"I knew about most of it yes. I didn't know about the murder." Rosie said
"Okay. Well. That doesn't take away from what you did know. What were you thinking?" Nolan asked
"I thought maybe those things had been his past. People can change. Look at Cass. And he sweet talked me.." Rosie said
Nolan sighed. "When things happened with your neighbour. I understood that you had been played. But we talked about how it was okay to say no when you felt uncomfortable. Right?"
"Yes…" Rosie said
"So. Why didn't you?" He asked
"I just… I thought. I wasn't thinking clearly." Rosie said
"Apparently, because the Rosie I know would not get manipulated like that again. So what happened?" Nolan asked
"I don't want to make an excuse for what I did. Because there isn't one." Rosie said
"But there is something that can explain in?" Nolan asked
"I forgot my ADHD meds. Two days in a row." Rosie said
Nolan sighed. "You've never done that before?"
"Not twice. Only once did I forget it once. And that was the day of the fire. And I drove the car when I was upset." Rosie said
"So without the meds you tend to be reckless." He said
"Yes. And I don't forget intentionally. Just different environment. At home they are kept where I will see them when I eat breakfast." Rosie said "When else where I don't see them as easily."
"I think when you travel you still need to keep them where you can see them." Nolan said
"You are right. I'm going to be more on top of that." Rosie said
"Good." Nolan said. "You know you can look at me."
"Not sure I can…" Rosie said
"Why not?" Nolan asked
"You're disappointed." She said
"I am. But that doesn't mean I don't like seeing your beautiful face." He said
"And I might have been informed of something you have told some people you wanted to do about me running away from the problem." Rosie said
Nolan sucked in a breath and let it out frustrated. "Who told you?"
"Well did you tell more than one person?" Rosie asked
Nolan sighed.
"That's a yes." Rosie said
"You said you have spoken to Cass. Spoke to anyone else?" Nolan asked
"Not answering that." Rosie said. She took a breath and looked up. "To be. Very clear. Regardless of what our future is. Together or not. I don't think I would ever be into that."
Nolan nodded. "Rose. I would never. With out you agreeing."
Rosie nodded.
"And I don't like that you found out from someone other than me. That is a conversation I would and will have with you if we ever get back together." Nolan said
Rosie nodded. "Okay. Well I don't like that you had this conversation with several people and not me."
Nolan nodded. "I didn't really specify it was something that I wanted to do with you. It was guy talk after we read the fifty shades book."
"Cass is one of the guys now?" Rosie asked
"So it was Cass." Nolan said
"Didn't say that. You asked me if Cass was the only person I talked to today that is an admission that she knew." Rosie said
Nolan chuckled. "You sure you don't want to major in being a lawyer? You can talk circles around people."
Rosie laughed. "Funny. Still doesn't answer my question."
"Cass over heard me talking to Pierce, Nathan, Tyson, Ian and Eric." Nolan said
Rosie nodded. "Okay."
"So was it Cass who told you?" Nolan asked
"Not answering that. But um. I will tell you. The person I had this conversation with, and I were video chatting. And Emily lives in a very nice. Apartment. Sound carries…" Rosie said
"Shit." Nolan said. "She's going to tell your dad?"
"I don't think so." Rosie said. "But she made it very clear to me and the person I was talking to that. Those books are not a good example of those kinds of relationships…."
"Oh. Yeah. Admittedly the guy in the book seemed a little pushy about it." Nolan said
"So. I am by no means saying that I will have any interest in trying that now or in the future. But if I do. Whomever it is with. Will need to have a better understanding of what is okay. As will I." Rosie said
"Agreed." Nolan said "And if that doesn't happen to be me, and a guy happens to do something he shouldn't. He will have to go to the moon because he will not be safe from my rath."
Rosie smiled abit. "I think you would have to get in line."
Nolan chuckled. "I think it would be a very long line."
Rosie smiled. "Feels good knowing that."
"You -are very loved." Nolan said
Rosie nodded. "Do you still love me?" she mumbled.
"What?" Nolan asked
"Nothing." She said
Nolan sighed. "Rose."
"It was nothing." Rosie said
Nolan nodded. "Yes. I do." He said
Rosie looked at him.
"I have been your best friend for over two years. I understand your mumbles." He said
She looked down again.
"So. Yes. I do." Nolan said
Rosie nodded.
"Do you still love me?" He asked
Rosie took a breath. "Of course I do."
Nolan nodded "Do you think you can get past the fact that I didn't do the right thing when it came to the fire and Sierra?"
"Considering the shit I have pulled that you have been so forgiving about. And if I can forgive Sierra I think I can forgive you for that yes." Rosie said with a smile.
Nolan smiled. "Enough to be able to try being together again?" he asked
"Yes." Rosie said with a smiled.
"Yes!" Emily said from the kitchen
Rosie started to laugh.
"Think she wanted us back together?" Nolan asked laughing.
"I think they have all seen how good you are to me. And I think you help keep me grounded." Rosie said
"They don't hate me for hurting you?" Nolan asked
"No. Even I could see the situation you were put in. It wasn't fair." Rosie said
"It shouldn't have been a second thought. You were my girlfriend. Sierra was someone I wasn't even friends with anymore." Nolan said
"Well. Its forgiven. We can move on. And do the dating thing again." Rosie said with a smile
"Sounds good." Nolan said
"Now. I think I need to call the rest of the people I haven't talked to." She said
"You're being very careful not to let it spill who else you have talked to." Nolan said
Rosie smirked.
"Why don't I add in everyone from the group?" Nolan asked
"Group chat? Sure." Rosie said
Nolan did so. And everyone answered.
"Rosie!" Taylor said. "Are you okay? You still in London? I'm mad at you for running from everything!" she said
Everyone else agreed.
"Okay. I'm sorry. I know. I fucked up." Rosie said "I got scared. After things happened with Cass. I blamed myself. I thought I had hurt her really bad. And hurt Nolan. I have spoken to both of them." Rosie said
"And she and I are fine." Cass said
"As are she and I." Nolan said "Quick question. Who outside of Cass has already spoken to her today?
"Don't answer that!" Rosie said quickly. Obviously no one else had but she didn't want to throw Cass under the bus.
"Why?" Cass asked
"Because someone. Told her about a conversation that was had that they shouldn't have." Nolan said
"Oh." Cass said. "I see."
"It was you." Nolan said
"What conversation?" Cass asked
"Yeah. what conversation?" Pierce asked
"I conversation I had with the guys that Cass happened to walk in on." Nolan said
"Oh. Shit." Nathan said
"What was this conversation?" Taylor asked
"Nothing." Nathan said
"Rosie. Should I know?" Taylor asked
"I don't know. Maybe. Depends on what Nathan's point of view on the conversation was." Rosie said
"Okay." Taylor said.
"Well I didn't talk to her today." Nathan said
"Neither did I." Pierce said
"I didn't either." Tyson said
"Not me." Ian said
"Wasn't me" Eric said
Rosie sighed. "Well apparently they don't know the meaning of don't."
"So it was you Cass?" Nolan asked
"Not what this call is about." Rosie said
"Fine." Nolan said.
"And if you didn't want me to find out from someone else you should have told me yourself." Rosie said
Nolan nodded abit.
"Anyways. Yes. I am sorry. I ran from everything. I just. When I was in California. I found out somethings that I was struggling with and hurting from the breakup with Nolan. And than things happened with Cass. And admittedly as much as I love them. Hunter and the girls moving in and all that. The change while good. Was a lot and I got to a point where I couldn't handle anymore, and I needed the space. I went about it the wrong way." Rosie said
"What happened in Cali?" Taylor asked
Rosie told her friends everything. When she was done.
"I'm so sorry." Taylor said.
"Thanks." She said
The group was quiet for a minute.
"So. Who is leading the search party for the ass hat who grabbed her in Cali?" Abby asked
"I don't think he is who we need to find." Cass said
"Agreed." Nolan said
"Oh?" Tyson asked
"See the mark on her face?" Nolan asked
"Figured she did that to herself she is clumsy." Pierce said
Rosie chuckled. "I am at that."
"Not what happened." Hayley said
"Dad told you?" Rosie asked
"Heard him and papa talking about it." Hayley said
"What caused the mark?" Taylor asked
Rosie took a breath and started to tell them what happened the day before.
Everyone was quiet after that.
"He has been found. Emily. Well she took it very personally." Rosie said
"Good." Nathan said
"Of course she did." Hayley said.
"After the way your uncle came down on us its not surprising." Taylor said
Rosie smiled abit
"Which uncle? Came down on them for what?" Hayley aske
Rosie sighed. "Um. Will and Long story."
"Okay." Hayley said
"As I said. You have a line up of people who love you and who would defend you to the end." Nolan said
"Yup. And we are all in it." Abby said
Rosie smiled and nodded. "And I am in all of your lines."
"So otherwise how is London?" Taylor asked.
"Fine. Pretty sure my dad will take my credit card away when I get home for the damages I did on it." Rosie said with a chuckle.
"That much huh?" Nolan asked
"And some on Emily's at her insistence." Rosie said
"Yes girl!" Cass said
"I've got you all gifts. And don't say I didn't need to. I wanted to." Rosie said with a smile.
"Cant wait to see what you got me." Cass said with a smile
"What else have you done?" Nathan asked
"Seen the palace. Not my first time here I was here a few months ago. So its been time with Emily. Not sure what else we will be doing. Cause she is not letting me out of her site again." Rosie said
"Good." Nolan said.
Rosie sighed.
"What exactly did you expect?" Cass asked
"I didn't say I didn't get it or accept it. Just stating a fact." Rosie said
"It just sucks." Pierce said
"Yes. See. Thank you, someone else gets it." Rosie said
"Cant do the time don't do the crime." Emily called from the kitchen
Rosie shook her head and resisted the urge to roll her eyes.
"She is being a hard ass?" Hayley asked
"Big time. She's never been this pissed at me." Rosie said
"Inevitable with how stubborn you are." Cass said
Rosie chuckled. "Yeah. True."
"So anything major happen I don't know about?" Rosie asked
"You know the latest about Sierra?" Taylor asked
"Maybe. Cass anything you didn't tell me?" Rosie asked
"No. She knows the latest." Cass said "She also knows about thing about me that some of you don't know. Thanks for that Nolan."
"Everyone knows." Pierce said
"Wait. What?" Cass said
"No more secrets." Pierce said. "Secrets between friends. Not anymore."
Cass sighed and nodded.
"No one judges you for it." Taylor said
"And because I found out I was able to help right?" Rosie asked
"Yeah. She fucking has the lecturing thing down." Cass said
"Helps when I have been lectured more times than I can count." Rosie said with a chuckle.
They kept talking about things that have happened recently for everyone. There was nothing earth shattering.
"Should we tell them?" Nolan asked as the conversation was dying down
"I don't know." Rosie said
"If the next words out of your mouths is not that you two are back together I don't want to hear it." Cass said
Rosie and Nolan laughed.
"Strong opinion there huh Cass?" Nolan asked
"You two are fucking soulmates. That doesn't come around everyday." Taylor said.
"We all thing you two need to get passed the shit and be with each other. Most of us would kill to have what you have." Tyson said. "And what Nate and Tay have."
Nathan and Taylor smiled.
"We only have what we have because we saw how good you two are together." Taylor said
"And because you helped me know how to win her heart." Nathan said
"Oh hunny. You had her heart. You just needed to figure out how to prove that to Mr. over protective big brother over there." Rosie said
Taylor laughed.
Pierce shook his head. "Rosie. You just wait till one of your little sisters fall for one of your friends."
"I wouldn't be opposed to that. Well for Hayley anyways the younger ones if my friends ever considered they would be ripped to shreds but I know you guys wouldn't do that." Rosie said
"Good." Hayley said
"When you are close in age with your siblings its always a possibility." Cass said
"Wait. Hayley the guy you have been talking to is someone in this group?" Rosie asked
"No! Just good in general." Hayley said
"Okay." Rosie said with a smile.
"Wait who are you talking to?" Cass asked
Hayley sighed
"Topic change." Rosie said
Pierce nodded. "Well. I do like knowing that Tay is taken care of."
"And you weren't completely grossed out about the conversation that was brought up when he dates your sister?" Rosie asked with a smirk
"Rose." Nolan said
Rosie smirked
"What was this conversation?" Taylor asked
"I will tell you later." Rosie said
"No you will not." Nolan and Pierce said at the same time
Cass started to laugh.
"I wont if you do it Nathan." Rosie said
"Rose. I don't need to." Nathan said
Rosie tilted her head.
"Oh. You already have…" Rosie said
Pierce groaned. "THIS is why its weird."
"Okay. I get that." Rosie said. "But don't you want your sister to be happy?"
"Of course I do. But don't want to know about that." Pierce said
"Just because they have talked about it doesn't mean anything like that is going to happen." Rosie said "So you can stay in your blissful place just don't think about it."
"Okay so something about sex." Abby said
"Oh.." Taylor said. "Shit. That. Wait I didn't know there was a conversation with the guys about that."
Rosie and Cass smirked.
Nolan shook his head at his girlfriend.
"Now that you two girls have got me in trouble. What did you want to tell us Rose and Noel?" Nathan asked
"You guessed it." Rosie said
The girls all squeed.
"Good." The guys all agreed.
"Hayley don't tell dad and papa. I will." Rosie said
"I wont." Hayley said
"When you get back we all need to hang out. A second end of summer party." Cass said
"Yes!" Rosie said
"I can host." Nathan said
They all agreed and soon the call was ended.
Rosie let out a breath. Emily came and joined her. "Anyone else you want to call?"
"Nope." Rosie said, "Talked to everyone I can over video chat."
"Your dad and papa?" Emily asked
"Not today." Rosie said with a sigh.
Emily nodded and they continued to binge Gilmore girls a show that they had been watching together across the pond from each other.
Emily ordered in food for dinner, and they just hung out and talked and watched their show. Going to bed after midnight.
/\/\/\/\
Rosie woke up the next morning. She looked at the time. 6am. Why was she awake this early? But she was and she wasn't tired. She got up and went into the living room. Emily was still asleep. Rosie grabbed her camera, book and sweater and went onto Emily's balcony and started to take pictures of the sunrise. The view was amazing. Rosie was able to get some really good shot. When she was done she sat down with her book and just read.
Emily woke up a few hours later and saw the light in the living room as on and saw the balcony door had been unlocked she went and saw the girl reading. She opened the door.
"Morning." Emily said
Rosie looked up "Morning. Hope its okay I'm out here?"
"Of course." Emily said with a smile. "You hungry? Want to go get breakfast?"
"No worry about the gangs coming after me?" Rosie asked
"Nope. They found where the tracker thing led back to, and it was his place. The gang posted a video online publicly denouncing him. I guess even gangs can have lines that don't get crossed. Murder apparently was a nope." Emily said
Rosie snort laughed. "Would love to get breakfast."
The two of them went and got dressed and went to a local place to get breakfast. A man came over to the table.
"Emily hello." He said with a smile
Emily looked up. "Mark. Hello."
Mark looked at Rosie. "And who is this young lady?"
"This is my niece. Rosie." Emily said
"Oh. Didn't know you had a niece." He said
"Well. I do." Emily said
"Rosie. This is Mark." Emily said
"Hello." Rosie said politely. But she could sense Emily didn't want him there.
"Have you given my offer any more thought?" He asked
"Nope. Because my answer will not change." Emily said
"Oh come on. You don't need to tell your friend over the pond." He said
"Mark. The answer is no. And I'd rather not have this conversation right now." She said
Mark looked at Rosie. "Don't you think your aunt should have someone who can be closer to her?"
Rosie looked up at Emily with a raised eyebrow silently asking her if she can answer.
"Go for it." Emily said
"Yeah. Nope. Considering the guy she has across the pond. I call my uncle. No. I don't." She said her voice getting less and less polite as she spoke. "And because all I have to do. Is make -one call. And he will come here and have a few words for you."
Emily looked away to hide the smirk on her lips. Normally she wouldn't let the girl go at an adult like that, but the guy had been bugging her for months and she was done trying to be nice about it. And he made the mistake of coming to the table and involving the teen in their conversation
Mark looked at Emily. "And you think she should speak to an adult like that?"
Emily looked back at him. "You involved her in our conversation. Picked the wrong girl to mess with. She loves her uncle probably more than me. So you brought it on yourself. I have been telling you no for months. So you get what you reap."
He walked away.
Rosie chuckled. "That was fun."
Emily chuckled as well. "Know that you only got that chance because of his insistence. Don't talk like that to other adults."
"I know." Rosie said with a smile "And for the record. I love you just as much as Uncle Aaron."
Emily smiled and nodded.
They finished their foods and Emily paid before they went out.
"There is a place I want to show you. It's a little boutique. Has the most beautiful dresses. And I want to get you one. For your first date back with Nolan." Emily said with a smile
"Okay." Rosie said with a smile. They went and Rosie tried on a dozen dresses. Everything from casual sundresses to ball gowns. The ball gowns were just for fun. Rosie ended up with a pretty pink dress with white polka dots. It had straps on the shoulders and off the shoulder sleeves It had tiny buttons up the middle of the front. Decorative not functional but a pretty detail.
"I think that's perfect. It's easy to dress up for a fancy place but can be very casual." Emily said
Rosie smiled and nodded looking at herself in the mirror.
"And you look beautiful in everything." Emily said
"Do you need a new dress for the next time uncle Aaron takes you out?" Rosie asked
"Need. No. That doesn't mean I wont try some on." Emily said
Rosie chuckled and changed out of her dress and helped Emily find a dress. Emily ended up with a gorgeous red dress that hugged her curves perfectly.
"Damn you look good." Rosie said with a smile.
"It is a good dress." Emily said
"I think whomever you are wearing that for will want it off you." The shop owner said
Rosie groaned.
Emily laughed "That. Is where you get grossed out? After the conversation we had yesterday?"
"That conversation was not about Uncle Aaron specifically." Rosie said
Emily looked away to hide the smirk.
The store owner chuckled.
Emily went and changed out of the dress and went to the cash. Rosie went with her dress too and Emily paid.
"I might need another bag with all the stuff I am bringing back." Rosie said
Emily chuckled "I'll help you make everything fit."
"You from America?" The owner asked.
"Yes." Rosie said
"Its where I am originally from. I work here now." Emily said
The woman nodded. "I recognize you. You have been in my other store. Across the way." She said
"Oh. Didn't realize you owned that one too." Emily said
"Must be nice stuff too." Rosie said
"It is." Emily said.
"What kind of stuff is it?" Rosie asked
"Lingerie." Emily said
"Oh. Okay." Rosie said
"I think we can wait a couple years for me to take you there." Emily said
"Agreed." Rosie said
They finished at the cash, and each took the bag with their own dress and started back for Emily's
"Auntie Em. I don't want to piss you off but any chance I could confront Charles?" Rosie asked
Emily let out a breath. "I don't know if that's a good idea."
"Okay. I will respect whatever your answer is." Rosie said
They got back to Emily's and sat down to watch more of their show. Emily texted Dave.
'Your daughter has asked if I would be okay with her confronting the guy. I don't know if it's the best idea. What do you think?' Emily asked
Dave saw the text. He was out of state on a case. He sighed.
'I think if you think it's a bad idea it's a bad idea.' Dave sent 'But I think you are looking for a copout is what you are doing. If you need me to be the bad guy I don't have an issue with it, but I know what you are doing.' He sent in a second text
Emily saw it and let out a quiet breath. He was right.
'I hate that my family is all profilers.' Emily sent
Dave chuckled at that text.
Aaron looked up from the table across from him. "What?"
"Your woman is annoyed I figured something out." Dave said
"Oh?" Aaron asked
Dave showed him the texts.
Aaron chuckled. He took out his phone and texted Emily.
'You want kids in the future right?' Aaron sent
Emily saw the random text from Aaron and was abit confused. 'You know I do.' Emily sent back
'So this is a good opportunity to get used to parenting. Because some day that child will be a teenager. Who does stupid things. Or who doesn't know what is right and it will be your job and hopefully that child is with me so my job as well. To make the hard decisions and be okay with the fact that he or she will not like it.' He sent
Emily sighed. He was obviously with Dave.
Rosie looked up. "Everything okay?"
"Just uncle Aaron making a good point about something." Emily said
Rosie chuckled. "And you don't like the point he is making?"
"Its not what I wanted to hear exactly no." Emily said
Rosie nodded.
They watched tv for awhile longer.
"I have decided. Its not a good idea for you to see Charles. He has been violent with some of the agents as well as he was with you. I cant guarantee you will be safe. So no." Emily said
Rosie let out a breath. "Okay."
"You disappointed?" Emily asked
"I don't like it. But I accept it." Rosie said
"Fair enough." Emily said
The night ended the same as the few before. Making dinner together before watching tv till late into the night.
/\/\/\/\
The next couple days were pretty much the same as the last few. Hung up and talked. Really soaking up the time together. On the last night day Rosie looked at Emily.
"When I was found and went back home. You were. Well almost everyone thought you had passed away. When you came back alive. My dad told me that you had been in danger, and you had to fake your death to stay safe." Rosie said
"Yes." Emily said
"Someone was after you. And he was caught?" Rosie asked
"Yes. He actually was killed in the end." Emily said
Rosie nodded.
"Why was he after you?" Rosie asked
Emily took a breath
"You don't have to tell me." Rosie said
"I just want to make sure I'm not telling you more than you can handle." Emily said
"Not much I cant handle I don't think. Its your story. Not mine." Rosie said
"A long time ago. Before I worked for the FBI. I worked for Interpol. Same place I work now. But than I ended up going undercover to get close to a terrorist and serial killer. In the end we got the guy, and I thought I made a clean break. But unfortunately I made a critical error leading to him finding out who I really was. He came after me he got to me and stabbed me. We knew he would keep coming till I was dead, or he was dead. So I had to fake my death till it was safe." Emily said
"Wow. Got close with? Meaning in a relationship with?" Rosie asked
"Yup. Lived with him even." Emily said
"W- wow. Deep under than." Rosie said
"Yup. But it worked." Emily said
"What was the mistake you made?" Rosie asked
"He has a son. He didn't tell anyone this kid was his son. He led people believe he was his house keepers kid. I told someone the best way to get to Doyle was though his kid. Since only I and the house keeper knew who this kid really was. He put two and two together and figured it had to have come from me. And he had the right connections to figure out I wasn't really who I said I was." Emily said
"Shit." Rosie said
"Yup. But I did my job. And the kid is safe." Emily said
Rosie nodded and smiled. "and you are safe now."
"Yes." Emily said
"Who knew you had faked your death?" Rosie asked
"JJ who was working at the pentagon at the time knew and Uncle Aaron." Emily sad
Rosie nodded.
"Had to keep it to a minimum. JJ knew because she had to get me the things I needed to begin my new life. And Uncle Aaron was the one who decided it was the best idea for me to fake my death." Emily said
"He didn't want to risk losing you before he got to have you." Rosie said with a smile
Emily smiled. "Maybe part of it."
"Well. I'm glad he decided that because if you had died I wouldn't have gotten to know you. And I would be missing out on a lot." Rosie said
Emily teared up and went and hugged her tight.
Rosie hugged her. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to make you cry." She said
"You're got such a big heart. I'm glad I get to watch you grow up too." Emily said
Rosie smiled
They spent their last name talking about some of the deeper topics that a girl would talk about with a mom and while Emily was not her mom she was happy to be the person she talked to about all of it. They did that while they packed Rosie's bags to make sure everything fit, and everything was under weight restrictions.
"Its going to be tight." Rosie said
"It should be fine." Emily said. "If you have to pay extra for overweight I will cover it."
"Ha. Yeah no. If I have to pay for it I will." Rosie said
Emily chuckled. "But it should be fine."
They went to bed early.
/\/\/\/\
They were up the next morning early and dressed and out the door. They picked up breakfast on the way to the airport.
When they got to the airport they checked her in, and her bag was weighed. It was right on the weight maximum.
Rosie laughed. "That was packed perfectly."
Emily nodded and walked her to security.
"Text me when you land and let me know you got home safe." Emily said
"I will." Rosie said
"And if you want to come visit you can. But you don't run from your problems ever again. Okay?" Emily said
"Okay." Rosie said.
They hugged tight. "Thank you for having me. I had a great week. For the most part. I'm sorry I gave you trouble."
"You are always welcome. And well you're a teenager you make mistakes. But you ever do anything like that again whether you are with me or not you will not like what I do." Emily said
Rosie nodded. "Yes ma'am."
Emily let her go. "Okay. Go. Give everyone hugs for me."
"I will." Rosie said before she went through security. And went to the gate. She got on the plane when it was time and sat down in her seat. She read the entire flight minus the few minutes she spent eating the gross meal that she had been given. Airplane food. Was it a cliché if what was said was true? Airplane food sucked. Finishing the last book she had brought with her and opening up a book that Emily had bought her in London.
She got through a third of it before they announced they were landing shortly.
