-CHAPTER TWO: Spring

Monday 01:02:00 AM

Fujimi Academy

Takashi draped himself lazily over the stairwell railing, blankly gazing at students going about their businesses in the courtyard below. He sighed, stretching momentarily then sliding down the steel bars and resting against them. The teen yawned, deciding to shut his eyes would be the best course of action, yet he kept them open, observing the small space he was in. A set of light footsteps made the teen perk up, staring upwards to see his childhood friend Saya Takagi looking at him in disappointment.

"Skipping class? The 80th time this week," Saya scolded, Takashi shrugging in response.

"What? I'm like, smartish," Takashi said, grinning up at the pinkette.

"You're smart as shit, yet you're back in your pity corner once again,"

"What do you want, Takagi,"

"I'm here to scold you, of course," The pinkette said matter O'factly, "How are you going to make it through the year? The first semester just started!"

"And? The first semester just started, but I'm wondering what you're supposed to be doing out here," Takashi said smugly.

"I'm a genius, I could easily pass my classes even if I skip," Saya responded, jabbing a pointed finger at Takashi.

"I don't even know what you want from me, Takagi,"

"I want to keep drilling into your head that you're stupid until you become less stupid by some God-given chance," She said, "And moping over your little friend that dumped you a long time ago isn't helping."

Takashi choked out a laugh after she finished. Saya looked confused for a moment when the teen began laughing but her gaze hardened once again, probably from thinking Takashi was still in denial over the breakup. It had been a good three to four years ever since Rei took the leap to betray Takashi and get with his best friend Hisashi.

"Takagi, even though your stubborn and annoying you give a good laugh once in a while," Takashi said, stifling his laughter.

"What?" Saya questioned, still utterly confused.

"Oh, how I'm so hurt and so sad over Rei breaking up with me. You're very right about that Takagi." Takashi responded sarcastically.

"Whatever smartass!" Saya said, stomping away from the black-haired teen.

...

Takashi chuckled, standing up once and turning, gazing upon the courtyard once more. His eyes searched, scanning through the countless students in the courtyard, trying to pinpoint his visage on Yumie, although he couldn't spot the blackette training anywhere. He sighed, going to turn on his heel and walk away until a few loud metallic bangs caught his attention. The teen's vision quickly fixated on the school's front gate, a group of teachers slowly approaching it. The teen narrowed his vision, seeing a businessman sluggishly slamming his body into the steel gates, the group of teachers soon after reaching the gate.

He noticed the tall, muscular build of Mr. Teshima, and Mrs. Kyoko, a short full-figured auburn-haired woman, the ping pong clubs advisor. Takashi didn't recognize the other teachers with the two but instead watched as Mr. Teshima rolled his sleeve back, grabbing the unknown man and slamming him against the gate, a loud clang sounding throughout the courtyard. Takashi sweatdropped, his stomach rolling as a feeling of dread shot through the young man's body, he tried to yell for the teachers to stop, but he was unable to make a noise. The other teachers jumped, the unknown man looking unfazed quickly bit down into the PE teacher's arm, ripping away at the man's flesh and splattering blood all over his female compatriot.

Mr. Teshima ripped his arm away from the man, bloody veins and nerves falling out from the man's exposed inner arm. He fell backward, convulsing violently until falling limp completely. Soon after he rose from the ground, instantly biting into Mrs. Kyoko and ripping her throat out, her screams muffled by the blood flowing into her windpipe. Takashi snapped out of his stupor, quickly turning on his heel and slamming his foot into the stairwell door, opening it forcefully and running down the hall.

...

Takashi kicked in the sliding door to his homeroom class, 2-B. The teen quickly made his way in, grimacing at the door that was now hanging off of its hinges and the now full class that had their attention on him.

"Komuro! What in God's name has gotten into you!?" The teacher shouted, flailing his arms slightly after seeing the teen completely clear his room's door.

The teen ignored it and quickly approached Serry who was sitting at her desk, the teen pulled her up by her forearm and stared at her.

"Come, now," Takashi demanded.

"Why? What's going on?" Serry asked, noticing how defensive and pale the teen appeared to be.

"Yeah, what's going on? You just kicked the fucking door open! Asshole!" Rei said angrily from behind Takashi. She had her arms crossed between her breasts which pushed them upward.

"Some people just got killed by the front gate, no fucking bullshit!" Takashi said. Serry's expression turned into a slight frown as she stared into her friend's brown orbs.

"Are you serious?" Hisashi spoke up, standing like the rest of his friends.

"Yeah, Man I'm serious why would I be making shit like this up?" Takashi said as he turned to Hisashi, "Let's go, all of you now," he demanded as he stared at the couple and Morita who was sitting next to Kohta.

Morita shrugged and looked at Kohta who was also as nonchalant as his friend. The two shook their heads at Takashi and returned to the teacher who was just staying quiet. Takashi was about to speak up when he heard Rei speak once more.

"Are you fucking insane? That wouldn't happen here. This isn't one of those neighborhoods you hang around all of the time!" Rei snapped angrily at Takashi.

The teen let go of Serry, quickly walking over to Rei and slapping her hard. After he slapped the dogshit out of the brown-haired woman who was now in shock, he stared at Hisashi once more who nodded in response. The grey-haired teen grabbed the brown-haired woman and led her out into the hall with Takashi following.

"Serry!" Takashi called, not giving the white-haired girl an option, she took a second glance at the class before following the black-haired teen out. She passed through the door, Takashi pulling her by the waist and directing her towards Rei and Hisashi who already began walking down the hall, "I need a second, follow them," he said. She nodded, saying nothing more as she crossed the distance between herself and the couple. Takashi popped back into the classroom soon after, staring directly at Morita and nodding towards him.

"Survive, both of you, I can't lose another brother," Morita and Kohta looked confused, Morita only nodded when he understood what Takashi meant but by then Takashi had already dashed back towards his group in the hallway. Takashi caught up with the group soon after, making their way collectively into a stairwell. The stairwell contained a small locker and duffle bag laying nearby, Takashi quickly began searching through the bag while Hisashi made his way over to the lockers. The grey-haired teen nabbed a broom, snapping the handle off and creating a spear which he handed to Rei, she looked confused.

"Weapons, we'll need them if what Takashi says is true," He said, Rei nodding to him and staring towards Takashi who had just handed over a metal bat to Serry.

"Alright, I'm tired of these games you need to tell us what's going on." Rei snapped. After she said this the other two in the group stared at Takashi who was standing off to the side.

"Someone was at the school gates, a group of teachers went to go check it out and now said teachers are killing each other," Takashi said, seriousness leaking from his voice.

"That's insane. You sure you're not just on drugs or something," Rei snapped at the teen again. Just then the loudspeaker came on and her words were cut short, a panicked vice-principle sounding throughout the white halls of Fujimi academy.

"Violence has broken out on campus, all students are to follow their teacher's instructions and lis-" The vice-principal voice came through, abruptly stopping after a second.

"The fuck?" Hisashi said.

A few desks clattered, the vice-principal spoke in a fearful shout once more, "No! Get away from me! STAY BACK!" Biting, ripping, and tearing was all that was heard soon after the principal went silent, another victim. The school intercom screeched, suddenly going dead soon after.

"Guess he was right, Rei," Serry said, no humor in her voice.

Rei turned to Serry, a glare situated on the brunette's face, Serry simply smirked in satisfaction. The two girls facial expression war was cut short by the screams and shouts of students crowding the hall, running in different directions. Hisashi signaled to the rest of the group, shouting over the chaos.

"We need to go through the management building!" He shouted.

"Go!" Takashi capitalized.

The quartet scaled the stairs, dashing through an array of different hallways. They stopped at one of the outside bridges that connected the school buildings to one another. A grey-skinned teacher stood in the middle of the bridge, staring directly at the group of teens with a hunger.

"Mr. Wakisaka-sensei?" Rei asked.

The grey-haired teen stepped to the side of the group and observed the teacher, he saw the long streak of red that traced the teacher's pants. The grey-haired teen looked over the man's arm, it also had a streak of red, clothing ripped, and a large bite wound on his bicep.

"Careful he-" Hisashi started but stopped short as he was startled by Takashi who ran ahead of the group.

"Takashi!" The group shouted. The black-haired teen slammed his foot into the teacher's chest, the teacher stumbled backward far because of the force but stood immediately and lunged at the teen. Takashi kicked once more getting distance between the teacher and himself. Takashi backed up quickly afterward, returning the reinforcement of his group.

"He doesn't feel my kicks, he attacks with slight reason, and his eyes are lifeless," Takashi said quickly. "I don't think this motherfuckers alive anymore, and I know how crazy it sounds,"

"Rei stab him! Don't hold back!" Hisashi shouted as the undead man lunged at the girl.

Rei swiped at the man twice slashing through his shirt and creating visible slashes that bled profusely. The undead man grabbed Rei's spear and tried to bite through, but Rei kicked the undead teacher backward and stabbed him directly through the heart. The teacher's body going limp and the brunette hearing the cheering of her friends.

"Haha!" Serry laughed.

"Fuck yeah!" Takashi cheered.

"Nice!" Hisashi said.

The teacher reanimated soon after, flailing around on the spear in Rei's grip. He continued trashing, causing Rei to fall back against the railing of the bridge, her eyes went wide as she held her spear, the only thing holding the teacher back from tearing into her flesh.

Hisashi rushed forward and grabbed the teacher from behind, putting it into a headlock and pulling the teacher away from the group and into the crossway.

"Switch!" Takashi shouted, running forward at Hisashi and the teacher.

Hisashi perked up, struggling against the overly strong teacher. The grey-haired teen quickly let go of the teacher, using the moment to kick the teacher hard forwards, towards Takashi. The black-haired teen arrived at them in seconds, swiping the grey-skinned teacher's leg, turning his back heel, and slamming his fist into the teacher's forehead as he fell backward. The force and momentum of Takashi punching the teacher into the ground resulted in the teacher's head slamming violently against the concrete.

CRACK!

The teacher, who was flailing until then went silent and ceased movement. The concrete under the violent man's head-turning a crimson red, bits of the man's brain leaking out. Takashi stood quickly, dusting himself off and slamming his foot down into the man's head once more, causing more blood to splatter on the ground.

"You good, Hisashi?" Takashi said, the grey-haired teen nodding in response, walking up to fistbump the black-haired teen.

AHHH!

A shrill scream sounded throughout the area causing all of the teens to look down at the courtyard, a black-haired girl down in the courtyard was being overpowered and bitten into by a large grey-skinned student. They watched in horror as the girl's blood splattered onto the pavement, her screams fading into loud gurgling as she choked on her own blood.

"We can't fight them all," Takashi stated.

"The roof, we'll wait there and hold out in the observatory until someone comes to help," Serry suggested.

"Yeah, good call," Hisashi responded.

...

The teens burst through the roof door, the cool spring breeze hitting them as they walked towards the railings. They all stared out into the city, observing the chaos that was unfolding. The city was in disarray, cars piled into roadways, smoke and flames erupting from buildings, even explosions happening in some places. They all grimaced, their breathes hitching. Helicopter blades were heard soon after, five mat-black choppers passing out the teens, Rei waving her arms in an attempt to signal the choppers.

"I don't think they're here to save us," Hisashi said.

"Why not?" Rei asked.

"Because those are self-defense force helicopters, they've probably been put on a mission." Hiashi responded, "Plus, they aren't doing anything about that down there." Hisashi pointed down into the courtyard where several students were attacking and eating other students.

The group of students watched for a few minutes before they heard clanging all around them, several of their undead classmates bursting through different doors, flooding the roof in mere seconds.

"The observatory! Go!" Hisashi ordered.

Without a second thought, the teens began running, swatting away and pushing against any undead opposition that got too close. They reached the observatory stairs quickly, scaling them, but stopping halfway as Rei went to stab an undead male student. She failed to do so correctly which resulted in her being slammed against the wall and lunged at by the male.

"Rei!" Hisashi yelled, grabbing Serry's bat and running down the staircase. The grey-haired teen slammed the bat into the undead male's skull, splattering it across a wall. The male's body fell limp, falling down the stairs as Rei was assisted to her feet by Hisashi, returning the girl's spear to her. Takashi motioned for them to come up the stairs, they did so soon after.

Serry ran down the stairs, kicking another undead down the stairs, this particular undead fell headfirst against the roof tiles, smashing its head. Takashi ran down the stairs after the white-haired girl, pulling her upwards towards the couple waiting at the top of the staircase. He directed the girl towards Rei and pointed to the observatory door.

"You two take a breather, Hisashi we gotta barricade these stairs," Takashi said, receiving nods from the other students.

The two male teens quickly fanned out, collecting whatever they could and slapping it together on the top of the staircase. After stacking tables, chairs, and whatever other things they could find they duct taped it all down. Takashi scoffed, thinking the tape wouldn't hold, but the bangs and thuds from the other side of the makeshift barricade proved evidence that the tape was holding up.

"Damn, that's actually working," Takashi said.

"Yeah man duct tape is strong, we learned that in class" Hisashi responded, patting his black-haired friend on the back.

Takashi waved the teen off, waltzing off to the side of the observatory and sitting down, the grey-haired teen joining him soon after. Serry and Rei stepped out from the observatory, smiles gracing their faces.

"There's a decent bit of food and water in the astronomy clubroom. It should last us a few days or enough until we're rescued," Serry said, the group nodding to the white-haired girl. They all congregated, sitting down near the railing and passing around a water bottle.

"Takashi, we need to find some matches and get a fire going, If we're caught out here at night without one we'll be fucked," Hisashi said, letting out a small grunt as he repositioned himself.

"Alright," Takashi said, standing up and beginning to search around.

Fujimi Academy

Kohta, Morita, and Saya stood at the door of class 2-B, watching as fellow classmates from different classes raced out into the halls, disappearing from sight. Morita and Saya stood in shock, not noticing Kohta who got down on all fours and began crawling down the hall. Saya accompanied Morita when he approached the heavy-set boy and stood him up.

"Come on!" Saya demanded.

They ran down the hall, passing a few undead students eating a black-haired boy, the boy calling for his mother in vain. The teens grimaced before Kohta and Morita called out to Saya, "Takagi! Where exactly are you running to?" they said panicked. "What's your brilliant plan?" The pinkette asked, annoyed by the teens as they rounded a corner. "Um, we were gonna talk to the teachers in the faculty room and-" the duo responded, getting cutoff after coming out into a set of stairs. "That's pointless, what do you think a bunch of useless teachers can do about this," Saya chastised.

They rounded through a doorway into a similar bridge, they ran down the walkway before coming to a stop.

"But- Takagi, this isn't," The chubby boy tried to say out of breath.

"I've got a question for you, both of you," Saya said seriously.

"What is it?" Morita responded.

"Do you want to die or do you want to live?" Saya said.

"Well, that's uh," Morita started but was cut off by knocking on a door.

Saya pointed to a separate section of the bridge, a group of students was currently trying to get into a classroom. "They had the same idea as you, let's see how it works for them," Saya said. The group of students continued to bang on the mobile classroom door until it flung open and out came a group of undead that quickly lunged at the unsuspecting students, beginning to tear them to pieces. Hirano and Morita both jumped scaredly with an audible whimper coming from the two of the males.

"You wanna live right?! Then stick with me!" Saya demanded, The chubby boy and Morita both nodded quickly with frightened faces.

Fujimi Academy

Takashi gazed upon the city, his breath hitching. 'Is Tajima good? Is Aika okay? Fuck..' the teen's thoughts raced, worry seeping into his facial expression as he thought about other people.

"This is insane," Rei spoke up.

"Yeah, It is, but it's still fucking happening somehow," Serry responded, scratching her head.

"Yeah, but I-" Rei tried, but silenced herself.

"It's okay, Rei," Hisashi reassured the girl, she smiled, "We'll be fine, including our friends,"

"Yeah, Takashi can I borrow your phone," Rei asked, Takashi shrugging in response, "I need to get hold of my dad, he's an officer,"

The brunette extended her hand towards Takashi, the black-haired teen fishing his phone out of pocket, forking it over to the girl. The brunette quickly stood and leaned over the railing as she dialed a number, the phone rang several seconds before a male with a deep voice picked up.

"Takashi? Hello?" The male voice said in a rushed tone.

"Dad!?" Rei cried out as she held the phone close to her ear.

"Takashi, is Rei with you? Are you safe? You probably got this number from her.." The voice said but static sounded before it returned, "Listen you need to get out of the city! It's all in panic mode right now!" The voice said as the line began dying.

"Dad!? Dad!" Rei cried out.

The call ended abruptly, the brunette quickly going back to dialing vigorously on the phone screen, tears threatening to escape her eyes. After a few seconds, the brunette dialed a second number. Takashi, Serry, and Hisashi all moved closer as the line rang, someone picking up in a panicked whisper as the line connected.

"Takashi!?" Aika whispered.

"Aika?!" Rei and Takashi both said in unison.

"Takashi? Is my sister okay? Are you okay!?" Aika asked in a whisper.

Rei was about to speak but Takashi grabbed the phone, the brunette was gonna lash out at the male teen but saw the wide-eyed stare at the phone and decided to stay quiet.

"Aika, you okay?" Takashi asked immediately.

"I'm hiding in the cafeteria everyone's dying, shit fucking crazy," Aika responded.

"Can you get out of the school?" Takashi asked.

"I- I hear those things outside the doors," Aika said.

"Don't go near the fucking doors, stay hidden, these things are fucking stupid," Takashi said loudly, panic spreading into his voice.

"Takashi," The girl paused, "If something happens to me, just know that I-I," the line died, ending the call.

Takashi's eyes widened, his teeth clenching and grinding against each other. He turned, spiking his phone at a nearby wall and shattering it into several pieces. His breathing was ragged as he paced back and forth with an unreadable expression. Serry and Hisashi, who were watching the display of anger rested their hands on the teen's shoulders, startling him.

"It's okay, calm down," Hisashi reassured.

"It's good, Takashi she'll be fine," Serry said, rubbing the black-haired teens back.

Takashi remained tense, even with the reassurance from his friends he was ready to snap from hearing the panic in Aika's voice. He only eased slightly after a few seconds, shaking his head and clearing his thoughts, nodding to his group afterward.

Fujimi Academy

The trio that consisted of Morita, Saya, and Hirano was now standing next to a stairwell that led into the front hallway, It was filled with students fighting and eating each other, dragging bodies away to be eaten.

"Takagi, do you have your phone on you?" Morita asked as he peeked around the corner of the hallway.

"No, I'm a straight-A student," Saya responded. "And even if I had one, who would I call?"

"Well, the police maybe?" Kohta said, almost sounding as if he was asking a question.

"You're so stupid, look how serious this is there's no way people haven't already called them," Saya responded while making hand signs to further emphasize her point. "And yet, we haven't heard a single siren,"

"So this is happening all over?" Kohta asked with a worried look.

"Gee, you think? I'm sure the police have been dealing with this already, but look how things are," Saya stated.

"Should we call the self-defense force?" Morita chimed in.

"I wouldn't expect much from them," Saya responded.

"I mean, they can't conduct any public defense or security operations without the government order but," Kohta said, scooting closer to Saya against the wall.

"That's not what I meant!" The pinkette responded, "They're just like the police! What do you think would happen if people were eating other people in the cities out there," Saya said. "There are 130 million people, how many of them do you think works for the self-defense force, and what if this is happening inside the self-defense force?"

Just then another undead student began scaling down the stairwell, the trio of students being startled, began running down the hallway after Saya motioned for Morita and Kohta to follow behind her.

Fujimi Academy

A short black-haired student with glasses stood in the nurse's office, watching as a grey-skinned undead student began to rise from a nearby bed he was placed on. The black-haired student continuously called out to the undead student, seemingly trying to communicate with the already dead male.

"Okada?" The black-haired student said. The student's grip loosened on the broom he was holding and stumbled back towards an IV bag holder, he gripped the holder and yelled out before charging the undead male who had just resurrected not too long ago. The student bashed the undead male while screaming 'Forgive me' repeatedly.

"What do I do, I can't get ahold of the police or the fire department, I could treat them, but they'll just end up dying anyway," Shizuka said, directed to no one in particular, "They resurrect after they die, this is like some shitty zombie movie,"

"I don't think it's time to be impressed, we need to leave Ms. Shizuka-sensei," The black-haired boy said.

"Hold on, let me get as many supplies as I can carry." The nurse responded.

"Okay, well hurry up!" The black-haired boy said.

Crash!

Just then several undead students slammed through the glass of the nurse's office, lunging at the blonde teacher, the black-haired student responded quickly and ran in front of the nurse, getting grabbed. He struggled with the undead male before it bit down into the teen's neck, causing the kid to yell.

"MISS SHIZUKA- GET OUTTA HERE QUICK," The teen choked out, the undead male ripping deeper into the teen's neck.

The blonde nurse backed up against the windows shocked, "I'm sorry, what was your name again?" The blonde asked, seemingly ignorant to the situation.

"What?!" The black-haired teen froze, confused. This mistake caused the teen to be toppled over by two more undead students, who began to rip into the teen. He screamed, thrashing and kicking at the undead that was assaulting him.

"Good God," The nurse said, surrounded by three undead students. They all lunged at the buxom women, only to be stopped by a bokken that slammed into their heads in succession, splattering blood along the walls. Saeko disposed of the undead, turning on her heel and approaching the black-haired student who was laying against a bookshelf, struggling to breathe. Yumie disposed of a straggler, finding herself standing at the side of her captain soon after.

"I'm the captain of the kendo club, Saeko Busijima. What's your name kid?" Saeko said, calmly bending down and putting a comforting hand on the teen's mangled shoulder.

The black-haired male spat out bits of blood and began to speak. "Ishii Kazu," the teen choked out as he coughed more.

"Ishii, you did a good job protecting Dr. Marikawa, but you do know what happens when you're bitten? Do you want your friends or family to see you that way? If the answer is no, I will end your life as painlessly as I can. But I've never killed anyone before." Saeko stated to the downed teen.

"Please do that." The black-haired male said with a small smile, the teen sat back into a more relaxing position against the shelf and let his eyes wander, his smile only growing more as he observed the sunlight bouncing off of the white walls.

"Wait- What are you gonna do?" The blonde nurse questioned.

"You're the school nurse, I got it, stay out of it," Saeko responded, readying her bokken. "This young man is going to die with honor, and I'm going to make sure that he does," with a simple step backward Saeko slammed her bokken against the teen's skull, putting an end to the teen's pain.

The nurse gasped, shock was the only thing she felt, even when another group of undead broke down the side doors of the nurse's office and stumbled in. Yumie and Saeko quickly jumped into action, smiles forming on their faces as they braced for battle once more.

Fujimi Academy

"Okay, we're here, but now what?" Morita stated, walking into the school's workshop. The blonde teen quickly shut the door after the other two walked in, pushing a table against it to provide more strength.

"Shut up," Saya responded, laying out an assortment of tools on the workbench in front of her.

"Are you gonna use them as weapons?" Kohta questioned, approaching the table.

"You're one of those basement shut-ins, those militeray nerds right? C'mon at least you've seen this thing before, it was in that one Mel Gibson movie," Saya said, pointing at Kohta.

"A nailgun, and its gas," Hirano stated aloud.

"Well yeah, we wouldn't be able to carry it around if it was one of those compressor types, right?" Saya said, "God, you're fat and stupid."

"Hey, stop bullying the big homie like that," Morita responded.

Hirano chuckled slightly after his friend stood up for him, the chubby teen waved Morita off and stared back at Saya who was fiddling with a wrench. "Do you like movies?" the chubby boy asked.

"Don't be ridiculous, I'm a genius so I know everything," Saya said.

The pink-haired girl's snarky remarks were cut short when loud banging was heard from the workshop door, the pinkette gasped as she saw three undead silhouettes starting to slam themselves against the wood door. Morita took up a pipe wrench in response, standing next to the workbench and watching over the door. The chubby boy also was alerted and began gathering an extra gas canister and extra nails for his newly found weapon.

"We're all set," Hirano said confidently, the boy developed a grin on his face, his eyes narrowing towards the box of supplies.

"Why are you so cool calm and collected?! They're coming! They're in the hallway." Saya panicked.

"Weighs around 4 Kilos, heavy as an old assault rifle, can't stabilize my aim this way, I need a sight for it," Hirano said, ignoring the panicked remarks of Saya.

"Oi, two by fours along the wall," Morita said, pointing at two long planks of wood that were modified. The blonde-haired teen then turned and kicked another workshop table against the door, attempting to give the struggling door even more support.

The chubby teen got working instantly, sawing off the ends of the planks and fiddling with other components. With some duct tape to hold the improvised optic together the teen grinned just in time for the workshop door to burst open, giving entry to the group of undead. They lunged towards the teens, but stopped short when nails began flying into their heads and putting them out of commission. Between Kohta's gun, and Morita's smashing away, the room was clear in record time.

Fujimi Academy

Takashi moved away from the small group of students, choosing to sit near the barricade. He gazed upon the shoddy makeshift blockade of tables, chairs, and duct tape. There were a couple of loud thuds, and more, and finally the barricade moved, alarming the black-haired teen

"This isn't gonna hold up, we have to do something about it," Takashi stated as he kicked the barricade back into place.

"Oh shit," Hisashi said, walking over to Takashi and observing the only thing keeping 'Them' out.

Rei jumped up quickly, without a single word beginning to scower their small area for anything to use against the horde of undead. The brunette stumbled into the observatory, eventually coming out with a large green hose in hand.

"We could use this!" the brunette shout.

"Right, the water pressure should be enough to send them flying or at least kill them," Serry responded.

Takashi nodded and took the hose out of the womans hand, the black-haired teen held the front nozzle in hand, directly aimed towards the barricade. Hisashi quickly grabbed a back section of the hose and held it firmly, supporting his friend. The two teen's gave a thumbs up to Serry who ran back into the observatory to switch on the hose.

"Ready!?" Serry shouted from inside the observatory.

"Yeah! hit it" Takashi responded.

Serry switched on the water, the fluid racing through the hose with an intense pressure that surprised the two teen's who were holding it. The two boys stepped back, steadying the hose and directing it towards the barricade, this blew the makeshift barricade away, sweeping the tables, chairs, and undead with it away.

Fujimi Academy

"You see the drill and the nails over there?! Will you put them in a bag or something?" Kohta asked as he dispatched more of the undead that was approaching, narrowly missing Morita a few times who was bashing away at the undead.

"Excuse me?! You're no one to me, what makes you think you could order me around !?" Saya yelled out.

The chubby boy said nothing as he looked onto the pinkette with a terrifying smile that molded into a soft expression making the boy look like a teddy bear instead of a monster. "Pretty please with sugar on top?" Kohta asked.

The pinkette's fierce expression softened after the look was shot at her, she sighed out an 'All right' and began collecting the items that were asked for.

Fujimi Academy

Serry turned off the hose, running outside the observatory and checking over her friends. They all seemed to be in good spirits as they high fived each other, she smiled walking over to the group. Serry cleared her throat, snapping the rest of the teen's out of celebration. They all collected their weapons, going to stand on the top of the stairwell.

"Alright, let's go!" Takashi shouted.

They all nodded to the black-haired teen, beginning to scale down the stairs. Takashi nodded back towards the observatory as if offering thanks for sheltering the teens and took off, following after his ragtag group that were full-sprinting across the roof.

Rei nodded to Takashi and joined Serry who was already scaling the stairs downward, Takashi looked back at Hisashi's body one more time then turned away to join the two women who were at the bottom of the stairs. The small group of students ran across the roof swatting away undead students that got too close.

Fujimi Academy

"Hey what are you doing? You hold this too." Saya said as she forced the bag of extra nails and supplies into Morita's hands, the blonde teen just shrugged to Kohta who loaded an extra magazine into his nailgun.

"Hey, Takagi? Can I ask you something?" Kohta said.

"What?" the pinkette responded, clearly annoyed.

"Why are you with us?" Kohta asked.

"Why? Cause I'm such a nice person," the pinkette responded.

"Yeah, we can see that," Morita said as he joined Saya at the door.

"Oh well," Kohta said in defeat as he walked out into the hallway with the other two students. As soon as the chubby boy walked into the hallway he readied himself in a stance and began surveying, "I found my calling!"

"Infront!" Morita yelled out, the blonde teen watched as his chubby friend snapped to attention and began firing at the group of undead that was approaching from the hall.

"Where do we run to?" Serry asked as the group ran down a set of stairs.

"Someone's house, collect supplies, and meet up with other people who haven't turned." Takashi responded "Then get someplace that's safe, sounds like a plan to me," the black-haired teen finished with a small grin.

"You're right! Now that I know my dad's okay and sister should be okay, Oh we should probably call your house just to make sure they're alright too, and you Hisashi," Rei said.

Takashi's smile faded quickly and he looked away, "Waste of time, let's just worry about your families." the black-haired teen said as he began scaling down another set of stairs. The white-haired girl and brunette noticed the change in atmosphere and quietly trailed along as the teen worked his way down more stairs. 'Hope you're okay old motherfucker,' the black-haired teen thought as he remembered the white hat-wearing policeman who had taken him in years ago.

A wet rag collided with the back on an undead male's head, the dead student showing no reaction to the supposed distraction. The undead male kept shuffling deeper into the hallway until another rag collided with a nearby locker, to this the undead male's head snapped up, beginning to shuffle towards the cause of the noise. The undead male began bumping into the locker, continuously walking into it until losing interest and shambling away.

"What are you doing?" Kohta asked from behind the pinkette, the chubby boy holding the same confused look as Morita who was also crouched beside them.

"Just shut it, they don't even react when something hits their bodies, I think their senses including sight are dead, they can only hear things," Saya stated, "Let's go."

"We're going outside?" Kohta asked.

"You think we're hanging around here?" Saya responded.

"I kinda, I hate walking," The chubby boy said embarrassed.

"And that's why you're so fat! You need to put down the Walmart cheetos and exercise!" Saya said loudly, After she finished a gasp escaped her lips, realizing that a group of undead was flanking them, drawn from the earlier noise.

A lone undead lunged at Saeko, she simply shifted to the right, pushing the student away roughly with her bokken. The same happened to Yumie, who in turn slammed her bokken down on the undead students head.

"Faculty room? What a pain in the ass," Yumie said, annoyed.

"What?! All the car keys are there, and why don't you just kill them?" Shizuka asked.

"One or two of them are a piece of cake, but they come at you in packs and they are considerably stronger than they look," Yumie answered as the group approached a door that leads outside.

"Once they grab you it's hard to get loose." Saeko finished.

"Wow, I'm impressed-" Shizuka said before slipping on a misplaced doormat, the blonde stumbled to the floor with a groan. "I hate these stupid floormats, Jeez!"

"What you're wearing isn't exactly made for running," The purplette said as she bent down and ripped the leather skirt that the blonde nurse was wearing, giving more room to move and also showing off the teacher's purple thong.

"Are you crazy this is Dior!" the blonde nurse whined, wavering her arms in the air to demonstrate her frustration.

"Your life or your clothes?" Saeko asked.

"Both!" The nurse said after some consideration.

Yumie chuckled at the antics of the nurse, watching around the hallway and scanning for any threats. The three women perked up when they heard what sounded like gunshots coming from somewhere in the school.

"That came from the faculty room," Saeko said.

Fujimi Academy

Morita ran forward at a group of undead, beginning to bash heads in while Hirano covered his back. The two teens were working in sync to protect their position which was right outside of the school's faculty and staff room. Undead bodies continued to drop onto the floor until the pinkette spoke up.

"If you keep shooting them and killing them how will we learn about them?" Saya asked.

"You know you could help us fight them as well!" Kohta said loudly as he took a few more shots at the undead group.

"You stupid idiot, that's what I have you two for!" Saya responded, screaming at the teen.

"But the magazine is almost empty!" Kohta panicked slightly.

"YOU THINK THAT'S MY PROBLEM!? JUST HURRY UP AND RELOAD IT!" Saya screamed out.

"But they're right behind you, see?" Kohta awkwardly said as he gazed behind the pink-haired girl.

The pinkette turned quickly to see a tall, bloodstained undead teacher staring her down. The teacher approached the girl and she screamed once more, this time probably ten times as loud. "Hirano!" The pinkette yelled as she stumbled over the bag she was carrying and backed up into a nearby trophy case.

"I'm out!" Kohta shouted.

Morita's eyes shot towards the pink-haired girl, she was panicking, scooting backward. His chubby friend wasn't doing hot either, slowly being pushed back against the faculty rooms door. The blonde-teen began to run towards the two before being caught by a strong force, he turned his head in time to see an undead female bite down into his forearm, he yelled, bashing the females head with his free hand. Eventually, the teen switched his wrench into his free hand, sending the blunt object down onto the females head, causing her to completely break through the teen's skin but also terminating her. The undead woman slid off the teen's arm and he cursed internally, shuffling back towards Kohta and Saya.

The pinkette screamed again before fully backing up into the trophy case; she had began to throw bronze trophy's at the undead teachers head yelling 'Get back,' as she did so. The male ignored her pleas, lunging at the girl. In a split second the girls eyes flashed panic, grabbing a nearby drill and slamming it into the teacher's skull, drilling the undead man's skull and screaming shrilly. The undead male pushed forward, splattering blood all over the girl and walls.

Takashi's group sprinted into the same hallway, colliding with Saeko's group as they looked onto Saya digging her drill into the thing's skull. The girl continued to scream as more infected stumbled up the stairs, the groups assessed the situation and quickly called out to each other.

"We've got the right." Yumie and Saeko said in unison as they charged towards the stairs.

"Left!" Takashi said as he charged forward with Hisashi, Rei, and Serry by his side.

Rei impaled her spear into the closest one of 'Them' with precision accuary, ducking under another undeads blow and sending her spear straight through it's head. Saeko watched as Rei decimated her undead foe, onto Serry next who slammed her bat into another undead students head, splattering it's brains across the wood trophy case. Saeko observed Yumie who dispatched two undead of her own, executing them quickly using her bokken, she watched as Morita, Hisashi, and Takashi all passed the same pipe wrench around, slamming targets down one by one.

Morita smirked, handing off the wrench to Hisashi who rushed back into the fray. The teen had taken out another undead before hiding his bite wound away, wrapping it in a black shirt that had been discarded off near them.

The rest of the group, minus Saya who was still in a dazed state, were looking onto Takashi. The teen was running towards a group of three undead males, a large smile painting his face. The teen's body was raised, It was flaring, he felt like he was set aflame for a second before it extinguished. A silent rage fueling the black-haired teen as he slammed his fist into the nearest undead students forehead, slamming it down onto the ground with brute force. He stood quickly, slamming his foot against the same undeads skull several time until it ceased movement.

"You shouldn't fight them unarmed!" Saeko yelled, beginning to dash toward Takashi who she believed was going to get himself killed.

The women couldn't continue her warning as she watched Takashi kick one of the undead students down the stairs, sending it over the railing and falling to it's permanent death. She watched as Takashi's smile grew, going unnoticed by all but herself. He looked over towards the last undead student, roundhouse kicking it's head then grabbing it by the head. The teen struggled with the stronger opponent before sending it through a nearby window head first, a loud thud being heard seconds after the student was vaulted out of the window. The black-haired teen perked up once more, staring off towards the stairs and beginning to move towards them, seemingly unresponsive to the other students who were calling for him.

Yumie dashed behind the teen quickly, hugging him behind, holding him in place also. The black-haired teen turned at the weight on his back, seeing the blackette with a worried look on her face, magenta eyes questioning Takashi's brown ones. His smile dropped, his eyes widening and softening as he recognized the blackette, hugging her without a moments notice, separating only after Yumie patted the teen's head slightly. He didn't need to say anything, he was just glad his friend was alive.

Saya stared in hysterics at the blood and brain matter-soaked trophy case, sounding as if she was on the brink of bursting. "Saya," Morita said, trying to approach the girl but was pushed out of the way by Rei who said the same before laying a hand on the pinkette's shoulder, accompanied by the nurse.

"Takagi are you okay?" She asked.

"Miyamoto.." The pinkette said, her voice wavering.

Off to the side, Morita, Takashi, and Hisashi fist-bumped each other as the black-haired teen closed the only remaining entry point to that section of hallway. Saeko came into the view of the teens and spoke up.

"We are all acquainted with the school nurse, Dr. Marikawa, yes?" She asked. "I am Busijima Saeko of class 3-A."

"Takashi Komuro from 2-B," The black-haired teen responded.

"I'm Morita Soru from 2-B. Nice to meet you miss," The blonde-haired teen who was next to Takashi responded. Takashi noticed his friend's small grin at the purplette and grinned because of his antics.

"You're the same Busijima-senpai who won the national championship last year?" Rei said "I'm in the Sojutsu Club. My name is Rei Miyamoto,"

"You know me," Yumie said, she was sitting beside Takagi in an attempt to comfort the girl.

"I'm Serry Sakai from 2-B," Serry responded, she too was trying to comfort the pinkette by being in her presence.

"I'm, uhm, Kohta Hirano from B," Kohta stuttered out.

"Hiashi Igou 2-B, nice to see you again Ms. Busijima," Hisashi nodded, previously knowing the kendo club captain from martial arts exchanges.

A genuine smile crested the purple-haired girl's face as she looked at the group. "A pleasure to meet all of you," She said. Kohta's mouth gaped slightly in awe at the woman's beauty.

"What...You're all soft," Saya said as she stood up, ticked off by the formalities. "Senpai? Seriously?" She said, "You two are the same age! You must not know how to count since you got held back a year!" To this Takashi snorted slightly, garnering glares from everyone in the group including Yumie who came over and punched him in the stomach moderately hard.

"Be nice, and, Hey Takagi-" The blackette started.

"DON'T TREAT ME LIKE I'M STUPID!" Saya lashed out at Yumie, "I'm a fucking genius. I can do anything once I put my mind to it!"

"I'm...I'm a-" She stuttered.

"Enough. That is quite enough," Saeko said, gently putting a hand onto the pink-haired girl's shoulder.

Saya said nothing as she looked up to the taller girl and then to a mirror that was resting on the tile wall. She looked over herself, looking over all of the blood on her uniform and face.

"Look at how dirty I am, I need to tell mom to get these cleaned," She said, beginning to sob into the purple-haired girls arms. Takashi found himself wandering over tot he display, patting the pinkette on the head before she lowered back to the floor, tears beginning to flow heavily. Everyone watching the girl, slightly saddended themselves.

Takashi looked over to Morita, the blonde-haired teen adjusting a black shirt wrapped around his forearm, It wasn't soaked with blood, but it had a noticeable dampness and the black-haired teen approached him.

"Don't tell me you're bitten," Takasi said blankly.

"I'm not, just got cut up by some glass while grabbing something," The blonde male responded.

"Good," Takashi said, "Hisashi you good? Kohta?"

The two teens raised their heads towards Takashi, both giving a thumbs up and smile to the teen, Morita coughed, facing back towards Takashi and nodding, "We'll get through this bullshit,"

"I hope." was all the black-haired teen said in response.

Fujimi Academy, Faculty Room

02:00:00 AM

"You sure that'll hold?" Takashi questioned as he finished stacking the last box of paper against the door. "I mean it's paper, I could break this shit."

"Don't know, but fuck it right," Morita responded.

The four boys of the group were sitting near the door finishing up stacking paper boxes against it as a line of defense to hold the door. The girls, minus Saya were lounging around in various seats and Shizuka was dead asleep against her desk.

Kohta separated from the group and walked into the kitchen area of the room, where Saya was washing her face. She finished as Kohta came into sight, slipping on a pair of O-ringed glasses. Kohta stood shocked and stuttered out "Glasses?" before getting a wet towel thrown over his face.

"What about them? Contacts are a bitch," The pinkette strutted out of the kitchen and into the main faculty room while Kohta was left smiling in the small kitchenette.

"Boys here," Rei said, handing the teens a few water bottles. The teens all nodded, giving the brunette a few smiles before going back to lounging around.

"Ms. Shizuka where are your keys?" Takashi asked.

The nurse rose from her small desk, "Oh, they're in my bag."

"Say, is your car spacious enough to seat all of us," Saeko asked. She noticed the blonde nurse pause for a moment then groan in response to her question. "What about the micro-busses used for club activities, the keys are around here somewhere,"

"They're here," Hirano responded after a quick peek into the parking lot.

"That should work, but where are we going?" Shizuka asked.

"To check on families, We'll stop by your houses from closest to furthest, if we have to we'll help our families too," Takashi responded, "Once that's done, we'll find a place to hold up,"

The teens ceased speaking for the moment, and all attention was gathered quickly after on Rei who had just gasped while looking up at the small box TV that hung in the room. The brunette's eyes darted back and forth between the TV and she mumbled some incoherent things. Saeko stood and walked over to the brunette taking the remote and turning up the volume.

"The government is starting to do something about these uprisings. However, politicians-" A separate news anchor said before the channel was flipped to another news station.

"An uprising? What the fuck," Takashi asked, coming over to where everyone had gathered paying attention to the news broadcast.

"The number of deaths in the Saitama prefecture already exceeds 10,000," The anchor started, "The governor has declared a state of emergency as of-" A gunshot rang out as soon as the woman finished her sentence. The camera turned to were two body bags were rising up, they were both dispatched by police gunfire but the news anchor began screaming as the undead began to swarm her and her cameraman, causing the broadcast to abruptly stop.

"Fuck me," Morita said, a few coughs escaping his lips.

"I second that," Takashi agreed, staring wide-eyed at the now static TV screen.

The static grew louder as seconds past but it didn't last, the broadcast re-routed and another brown-haired news anchor was shown behind an office desk. She was handed a piece of paper before clearing her throat and beginning to speak.

"There's been a problem due to unknown reasons," She said. "From now on, we'll be broadcasting from the studio and as you can tell, the situation on the outside has become quite grave."

"We advise you to stay in your homes unless completely necessary." She started again, "Once it's safer outside, we will bring you updates on the ongoing situation."

"That's all? We don't get a postcard or anything that Call of Duty zombies is happening outside?" Takashi responded, slamming his fist into a nearby desk.

"They're afraid of spreading panic, if fear instills it will lead to anarchy and the government won't be able to deal with the living dead at a time like that," Saya answered as she pushed her glasses up.

An American news broadcast was brought up next, although there was no translation. The video showed the white-house and several military helicopters leaving the grounds. A translation finally kicked in after showing footage of armed soldiers gunning down the undead in a Las Vegas street.

"Preparation for the possible use of tactical warheads." The female translator stated. "We have lost contact with Moscow, Bejing has been set ablaze, London has maintained order, but farther east in Europe there are wide-scale reports of looting. Government officials have declared-" The broadcast stopped abruptly once more, the same static playing back but this time there were no other channels to switch to.

"So they're everywhere huh," Takashi stated, clearly ticked off by this new development.

"How though? When I was surfing the web this morning everything was cool," Hirano asked.

"I can't believe it only took a few hours for the world to come to this. But it will be okay, right? There's gotta be someplace safe right? And then things will be back to normal, good as new," Rei said, taking a few steps and clinging onto Hisashi.

"Keep dreaming," Saya said aloud. Rei was unlatched from Hisashi, frowning in response. "This is a pandemic,"

"A pandemic," The blonde nurse who was nearby repeated.

"An epidemic of infectious disease spreads everywhere, so the thing that's infecting people here is spreading throughout the world," Saya continued, "I'd compare it to the Spanish Flu of 1918,"

"Isn't this more like the Black Death from the 14th century?" Shizuka pointed out, "Europe's population tanked by a third,"

"How did these diseases stop?" Takashi asked.

"There are several theories but the most common one and believable is that there were just not enough people around to further spread the disease around, the reason why these diseases cease to exist is because of their kill count," Shizuka answered.

"But.. In this case, people are coming back to life like zombies and attacking others," Kohta stated.

"Then you mean that it won't stop spreading?" Saeko questioned.

"Eh, maybe they will decompose when it gets too hot. But, then again the body takes around 22 days to start decomposing and even then it will take longer in the winter." Shizuka said. "Anyway, if we go to our homes-"

"How do we know they will decompose?" The pinkette started, "These things defy medical logic, I don't think they'll decompose personally."

"What's important is to have a location to fall back on after we check on our families, to achieve this I believe we should act as a team," Saeko stated readying her bokken, "We wouldn't stand a chance if we only acted on self-interest,"

Sensing the atmosphere the purplette created everyone began readying their respective weapons. "We should assist other survivors if we can," Saeko finished.

"How do we get out?" Serry asked.

"The front door closest to the parking lot," Saya answered, readying her own bag and standing beside the door.

"Let's go," Takashi said. The teen slid the door open and was met with a group of three undead, two of which were taken out instantly by Kohta and the last which was kicked out of the way by Hisashi as the group ran past.

Fujimi Academy

02:45:03 AM

"Just to confirm, you don't need to fight unless it's unavoidable," Saeko said as the group found themselves at the main staircase of the building. Takashi, who completely wasn't paying attention to the girl's monologue busted open a nearby storage locker. Immediately two large crowbars clattered to the ground startling all of the group's members besides Takashi who bent down to pick up the weapons. Saeko grimaced at the brown-haired teen and he responded by giving her a smile and wink. The purplette's expression changed back to her emotionless but stern gaze clearly entertained by the teen, although she did feel her body heating slightly from the smile.

"Nice," Morita commented.

"I know right," Takashi responded, tossing one of the weapons to Hisashi who took it.

"Shut it! They only respond to sound but as an addition, they're strong enough to rip a metal door off the hinges, so if you get grabbed you will be eaten," Saya said as a scream rang out.

The group ran coming out onto another crossroad of stairs, from the position the group could see another small band of survivors consisting of three male students and two females. A short black-haired girl said something from behind the lead male of the group who had a towel around his neck. The towel kid backed up slightly, freezing up as the group of undead students continued to approach from the top of the stairs.

A male undead lunged at the towel boy, getting close before being shot directly in the head by Kohta. By then Saeko took off jumping from the top railing and onto the same level as the other group beginning to assist them by taking out multiple undead around. Rei quickly joined the fray by stabbing into the undead student and kicking it down the stairs until it eventually slammed on its own head, spewing blood all over the floor near the towel boy's feet. The last two undead students were dealt with quickly by Yumie who had jumped along after Saeko.

"Thank—" The shorthaired girl tried.

"Not too loud," Saeko said. "Is anyone bitten?"

"No," The same girl said, wavering her arms to further her words.

"They look fine," Rei vouched.

"Wanna come with us? We're getting the fuck outta here," Takashi stated to which the other group agreed.

Fujimi Academy

The now larger group sat at the final flight of stairs before meeting the opening locker room and entrance of the school. They sat watching closely as a large number of undead students lumbered around, occasionally banging into things and each other.

"Fuck, tons of them are down there," Takashi stated, gripping onto the railing.

"What's the point of hiding? They can't see they can only hear," Saya questioned.

"Why don't you go and test that theory pinky," Takashi responded. To this, the pinkette shrugged, clearly not wanting to go down into the dangerous lobby and test her theory.

"Regardless, if we stay in the school we will be fucked," Saeko chimed in, "We need someone to verify Takagi's theory."

Takashi rubbed his temple, then began to front face once more, "I'll go," the rest of the group stared at the black-haired teen in response.

"No Takashi, I'll-" Rei said but was cut off by Saeko.

"It'd be better for us If I was to go ahead of you," She said.

"You are absolutely not going down there." Yumie fiercely said, in a quiet low whispering voice of course.

"I agree with Yumie," Serry chimed in, "And why even?"

"No idea," Takashi said as he nodded to Morita and Hisashi, the blonde was leaning against the railing trying to look supported even though the effects and drowsiness of the infection were starting to kick in. The teen responded by nodding back and giving a thumbs up, Hisashi doing the same.

"Takashi," Yumie said, she tried to lunge forward and grab Takashi before being held back by Saeko who just shook her head to her co-captain.

The black-haired teen slowly waltzed down the stairs, keeping his crowbar tightly to his side. The teen stepped down off the last step, walking forward and completely being ignored by the surrounding undead students. Takashi stopped in the middle of the walkway, gazing around the room as the group upstairs watched him. A lone student approached the teen, eyes lifeless nad jaw unhinging. He walked closer to Takashi, barely missing the teen who was keeping his cool, but wide-eyed at the close encounter. The sighed, bending down to pickup a discarded shoe, sending it flying at a nearby locker. This action drew the undead, the large group quickly shambling their way towards the source of sound.

He sighed, sucking in a fresh breath of air before moving over to the glass doors and pushing them apart, motioning for the group to follow. Saeko scaled down with the rest of the group, holding open the second door and the rest of the group passed through. After the rest of the group passed through, a last boy stumbled down the stairs holding a large metal pole, the thing slammed hard against the railing after on mistep, creating an echoing clang that seemed to echo throughout the silent courtyard and building. The boy panicked, quickly running down the stairs and out the door.

"Fucking run!" Takashi shouted out.

"Why'd you yell?! If you didn't yell we would only have to deal with the ones that were near us!" Saya berated Takashi as he tried to begin running. A lone undead student appeared behind the pinkette attempting to bite into the girl before its head was splattered onto the asphalt by Yumie.

"No way! You heard the echo right?" Rei said while fighting off two of 'Them'.

Kohta stepped back, switching from target to target unable to decide which one to shoot. The teen took another step back before he recognized Takashi walking forward and bashing three of the targets that he was alternating between with his crowbar. "Shut the fuck up and run!" Takashi yelled out, demand evident in the teens voice.

He dashed forwards with the group in toe, bashing away at the many infected that came close to the group. Most of the group continued towards the white buses while the boy with the towel around his neck was caught up, being ambushed, grabbed and bitten, then taken down and piled onto by multiple undead students. He screamed, garnering more attention from the undead and the short-haired girl who running side-by-side with Saya, she turned beginning to run back to the downed teen, being stopped by Saya

"TAKUZO!" The girl screamed out.

"N-NAOMI! RUN!" The male student screamed out as he was being eaten alive.

"FORGET HIM, THERE'S NO POINT HE'S ALREADY BITTEN!" Saya said, letting go of the girl's arm. She turned towards the pinkette and shook her head, running back towards the boy and suffering the same fate as him. "Why'd she go the fuck back!?" Saya questioned as she started to run again.

"I..understand, if I was to die I'd rather die with some I love," Shizuka said pausing the group of girls running.

"What kind of doctor are you?!" Takagi lashed out. A lone undead student stumbled in front of her before it was shot down by Kohta who slowly bucked up to her side-scanning their immediate perimeter for threats and taking out any that got too close. "Please calm down, Takagi!" the chubby boy said. "Who gave you the right to interrupt when I'm talking!?" the pinkette responded. "I don't know," the chubby boy turned with a smile that made the pinkette slightly blush.

"I envy your close relationship, but shut the fuck up and get to the bus," Yumie snapped, swatting away at another undead.

The blonde nurse backed up from another group of undead, they all fell quickly with the combined effort of Takashi and Hiashi's crowbars, and Morita's wrench. "The key! Shizuka!" Takashi demanded. The blonde nodded running over to the bus door, unlocking it climbing onto the bus with Hirano, Saya, Serry, and Rei together.

The battle continued to rage as Takashi, Hisashi, Morita, and the two kendo champions held their ground, allowing the remaining running students to get on the bus.

"Komuro! Everyone's in the bus!" Saeko shouted.

"You and Yumie first!" The teen responded, causing the purplette and Yumie to board the bus. Morita, Takashi, and Hisashi were the only ones outside now, smashing away at any threat that got too close for comfort. Takashi looked over to his blonde friend, he had just finished lazily swatting down another undead student, looking pale and sickly, his movements sluggish and breathing ragged, battle fatigue as Takashi believed it to be.

Takashi began to climb onto the bus when he heard another shout coming from the same walkway that his group had just crossed. "Help us!" the group cried out garnering the attention of everyone as well.

"Who's that?" Takashi asked, eyeing the group.

"That's Shido. He teaches 3-A." Saeko responded.

"We're ready to go!" Shizuka shouted out.

"Hold on a bit longer!" Takashi said.

"They're swarming in the front! And if I run into them the bus might flip," Shizuka shouted once more.

"Don't save him! LET HIM DIE! YOU WILL REGRET IT IF YOU SAVE HIM!" Rei screamed at Takashi, being ignored by the teen as he stepped off the bus once more. Just then time seemed to freeze as he watched an undead student sneakup behind Hisashi, quickly clamping down onto the unsuspecting teen's shoulder, Rei screaming in response at seeing the display, only held back by Saya and Kohta who used their combined strength to stop the brunette from running off the bus.

"HISASHI!" Morita and Takashi yelled, the grey-haired teen quickly flipping the undead man off himself and slamming his crowbar down into the head of the man. Although it wasn't dead, quickly clamping down on the grey-haired teen's calf, causing him to yell and slam the undead male, finishing him for good.

Morita watched as the tall dark-haired teacher slammed his foot into a student's face who was on the ground, the teen recoiled at the sight but was too weak to say a word. The teen spat out a large amount of blood that went unnoticed by the rest of the group. The teacher quickly ran and made his way onto the bus afterward.

A large wall of undead started to form around the three teens, Morita and Hisashi backing up against each other in response, both of their breathing ragged. Takashi got near the two teens, noticing their state and wounds. Morita quickly stripped from his blazer, tossing it at the black-haired teen who caught it with ease.

"Hisashi," The blonde stuttered, swatting away another undead to the best of his ability, "We're fucked, clear a-p-path,"

Takashi stared confused at his two close friends, gripping the blazer tightly. He noticed Morita's large bite wound just then, his breath hitching as both of his close friends began running towards the small wall of undead separating the three teens from the bus. The black-haired teen followed behind as his two friends barreled into the wall of undead, toppling most of them but being grabbed by several. Despite all of the pressure the two teens stood, slamming away at several undead and being bitten repeatedly. Takashi grabbed the two of them running to the bus doors.

He was shrugged off, looking back towards Hiashi, the teens skin was greying and he stared at his black-haired friend with a smile, tears in his eyes. In an instant Hisashi sent a powerful kick into Takashi's chest, making him fall back onto the bus. The group of undead catching up with the two grey teens and pouncing on them.

"My B-rother," Morita said, the teen smiled once more with tears in his eyes before being thrown to the ground by the horde of undead and bitten to shreds.

Takashi bellowed, every aching muscle in his body engaging as he tried to run off the bus to Morita and Hisashi, holding his weaponless hand out towards the teens. A strong resistance met the teen and pulled him backwards, violently throwing him into the bus isle. He was held down by Yumie and Saeko, screaming and yelling as he watched his closest friends being devoured in front of his very eyes. Rei wasn't holding up either, being held down by Saya and Kohta, her violent crys echoing throughout the bus.

"TAKASHI! WE NEED TO GO!" Yumie screamed, finally securing the stronger teen in a lockup. The bus doors closed, Takashi gripping his slain friend's blazer while continuously trying to escape the grip of Yumie and Saeko.

"Miss Shizuka! Ignore him and go!" Saya screamed at the nurse, struggling against Rei.

The nurse's expression turned into determination and as she rammed the gas pedal with her foot, the bus jumped forward gliding through the parking lot quickly. A large group of undead sat in front of the gate as the bus sped towards them.

"They're not people anymore." Shizuka said to herself, "They aren't human anymore!" The blonde nurse shouted, slamming her foot down on the gas once again. The bus jutted forward through the undead, tossing them aside and finally slamming through the gate and out onto the main road which they sped down immediately. The cherry-blossom peddles falling from the trees that lined the streets giving a false sense of beauty, although they were out of the woods for now.

"We made it," Kohta said, sadly glancing over to Takashi who was sitting in a front seat with Yumie, the blackette was holding him to her chest. The black-haired teen showed no emotion, a blank, narrowed gaze situated on the seat in front, gripping their friends blazer in hand.

"Yup," Serry responded from the adjacent seat, Rei sobbing quietly into the white-haired girls shoulder.

"Thank you for saving us," Shido drew out, walking up the aisle while pushing his glasses up. "Busijima, might you be the leader of this ragtag group?"

"We don't have one, we just worked together to survive," The purplette replyed.

The glasses-wearing teacher straightened himself, his snake-like yellow eyes narrowing at the purplette as he spoke. "Well, that's no good. A leader is required in order for all of us to survive," he said, "One who manages everything," At this line, Rei shot teary eyed glare towards Takashi who was still confiding in Yumie, although a bit calmer now that everything had boiled over.

"The city!" A random boy shouted. Most of the group excluding Takashi, Yumie, and Shizuka since she was driving, stared out the windows. All that was visible was the same destruction seen on the roof, buildings on fire, smoke billowing from every place you could think, cars overturned and exploded, total silent chaos.

...

After some time, and an unexpected speedbump in the form of a lone undead shambling across a road unfortunate enough to cross paths with the bus's hood, someone spoke up breaking the silence.

"Look! We aren't gonna live if we keep going!" A tall scruffy blonde-haired boy shouted from the back seat, "First off, why do we have to follow whatever you fuckin plan?" the kid continued. "We didn't even get a say in deciding that we were going back to the city!" the blonde's arrogance started sparing him glares from the combined group, especially from Yumie. "Couldn't we have just holed up in the school and found a safe place?"

"He's right!" A long-haired boy spoke up from the back seat, "We shoulda hid somewhere like that gas station that we passed by!"

The bus skidded to a halt in front of an intersection with a tunnel to the left of it. Shizuka who stopped the bus unbuckled her seatbelt and turned to the commotion in the back, shouting on instinct, "I've had it! You need to stop yelling or were gonna end up crashing,"

The blonde-haired boy who was stunned by the teacher lashing out at him cursed.

"What do you suggest we do?" Saeko spoke up to him.

"I-I just can't stand this fuckin sad excuse of a guy," The blonde pointed to Takashi, garnering everyone's attention now and a serious death glare from Yumi. Kohta raised his nail gun, anger seeping into the chubby teen's expression, he was stopped by Saya who noticed movement in Takashi.

Takashi looked up into Yumie's piercing gaze, her eyes trailing from the blonde teen to him, she released the teen from her clasp, shifting slightly to allow him to get out of the seat. The black-haired teen laid Morita's blazer down on the seat, approaching the blonde teen with a blank stare.

"Bastard! What's with that stupid fucking look, I'm not dumb!" The blonde rushed forward, only to be met with a knee to his jaw which sent him backward. He rushed forward once more at Takashi and the same result was had with a push-kick that slammed the blonde boy into the floor from the force. Takashi felt his blood boiling once again, walking over to the teen and raising his foot ready to stomp down onto the kid's ribs. Low clapping snapped the black-haired teen out of his killing mood and he glanced up to Shido who was approaching at a leisurely pace.

"Splendid! You have an unstable member and none of you can do a thing for him. Excellent teamwork huh?" The snake said, "But, this fight that arose proves what I said earlier, we need a leader and I believe I found the person that should be responsible for this group,"

"Oh yeah, who's that?" Saya spoke up, questioning the man.

Shido leaned towards Saya and spoke, "Well Takagi, I am a teacher and the rest of you are students. I alone am the most qualified to lead you, students," And with that the snake began his show, turning towards his original group and extending his hand outwards in an exaggerated motion. "With me as a leader, I would prevent all conflict and help you all, what do you say?!" the teacher asked. After the question was asked, Shido's group and the group that came with Takashi's stood and began clapping. The teacher bowed and turned towards Takashi, "Well that's all she wrote, I've become the leader based on a majority vote,"

Rei, the brunette attempted to slip towards the bus door to get out but was thrown violently into a vacant seat. She looked teary eyed and shocked as Takashi walked towards the exit, some of the bus passengers shared the same shock. "I'm gonna go check on someone, you guys stay with the bus," Takashi said as he slid the door open. He was directing this more towards the group that he came to the bus with. "I'm fucked up but I can still function, I won't be gone for long," Shido looked appalled but shrugged the teen's defiance off.

"Takashi you can't go out there on your own," Rei shouted at the teen who was out the door and off the bus by now.

"Yeah I have not a clue what you're planning on doing Komuro," Saeko said.

"Just be careful," Shizuka shouted to Takashi who was still in earshot of the bus.

"Stay on the fucking bus," Takashi shouted back to the bus, the teen had just walked into the tunnel before he heard the last shout from his team.

A loud screeching was heard by all who were in the vicinity, Saeko looked towards the source of the noise and shouted loud enough to where everyone could hear even Takashi. Takashi watched as a bus filled with silhouettes slammed into a stranded car and flung itself towards the tunnel. He quickly ran into the tunnel after he saw the thing flip, diving out of the way as it crashed sideways, blocking his path. The teen rattled his head for a second, recovering and standing quickly.

"Oh shit!" He said aloud as he dodged some loose flames from the overturned bus.

"Komuro! Are you alright?" Saeko shouted from the other side of the bus, she was about to see if there was a way around when multiple undead's burst out of the flaming bus. They shambled towards the purplette but quickly dropped after a few seconds from the flames that engulfed them.

"The police station! We'll meet at the east police station!" Takashi shouted from the other side, getting antsy as he watched the undead fall.

"What time?" The purplette shouted back.

"7 PM! If not today tomorrow, and if not tomorrow, I'm dead and you should just leave!" The teen responded.

Saeko nodded and quickly made her way onto the bus, informing Shizuka that another way around would need to be found if they were to move onto the next location. The blonde nurse nodded, turning the bus around, and began to double back.

...

The black-haired teen sighed as he watched the bus drive away, his moment of peace being cut short after he heard the buses gas tank pop, immediately sprinting towards the other end of the tunnel. Seconds later the tunnel erupted in flames, a result of the bus exploding, pushing Takashi forcefully out the other end of the tunnel. He stumbled to the ground taking in large gulps of air before standing.

The teen wasn't given a moments notice before more action found him, an undead biker tackling him roughly, It's helmet colliding with the teen's head. The teen struggled for several seconds before flipping the biker off of him, slamming his crowbar into the broken visor of the helmet. The biker ceased movement, It's struggle no longer continuing as Takashi stood once more.

The black-haired teen simply shrugged it off, not giving himself time to think before he scanned the surrounding area and hills. An orange motorbike was sitting at the bottom of a grassy slope, garnering the teen's attention who ran over to it and mounted it. The engine came to life, growling in response, he revved the engine several times before securing his feet and turning the throttles, sending him flying down the closest strip of road.

Akaibara High

03:55:00 AM

"Fuckin a-hole" Aika cursed, she slammed a wooden bat against an unsuspecting undead student's dome, splattering its blood across a section of white walls in the empty hallway she was in. "Let's go," she said motioning to a group of students.

"Aika, are you sure?" A shorter blue-haired boy spoke up from the approaching group.

"Yup, Marco knows how to drive, once we get a bus we'll be outta here," The red-haired girl responded. To this a taller black-haired teen with glasses stuck his thumb up, signifying he was ready for the challenge.

"Why are you so eager to get outta here? And why don't we just hold up here where it's safe?" The blue-haired teen questioned.

"Cause I have someone that I need to make sure are okay. Also, this place isn't safe idiot, it's filled with braindead monkeys who'll rip you apart from any chance they get!" She responded.

The blue-haired teen gulped in response then the rag-tag group of four girls and three boys quickly made their way down the hall, passing by several undead students which were taken out by Aika and a green-haired girl in a similar ponytail to Aika who was wielding a large monkey wrench. The teens quickly came upon a room that was marked 'Faculty' and stumbled inside, meeting no resistance from the undead. The students locked the door and quickly fanned out, searching every drawer and cabinet they could for supplies and keys. The same blue-haired boy from before called to the group, holding a set of bus keys to which he threw to the kid named Marco. The black-haired boy catching the keys with ease.

"Nice find, Sora!" He shouted.

"No problem, now let's get out of here," The blue-haired teen responded.

The group ran out into the halls once more, scaling down a few flights of stairs before coming out into the lobby of the school, which was empty and devoid of any undead or living students. The group shrugged it off and quickly made their way to the front doors of the school, opening them and all stumbling out to find several large clumped groups spread around the parking lot. All of the teens looked devoid of any hope besides Aika, who noticed that apart from the large groups of undead, the parking lot was clear relatively and they had a straight shot towards the buses. To this Aika let out a battle cry, running forward and pointing at the straight path to the buses, the other teens in the group panicked and soon followed.

At the scream of the red-haired girl, all of the undead groups began stumbling towards the position of the teens. They continued on, even so, bashing away at undead pricks and screaming their heads off for the adrenaline rush. The group almost didn't notice the bus rapidly approaching them as they ran, some of the teens even ran into the thing not realizing how fast they actually got to the bus. They all fanned out while Marco, the teen who knew how to drive got on the bus and got it started.

"Get on!" He screamed to the teens who were outside, they complied, and all but one shot into the bus. The blue-haired kid, Sora stayed out of the bus looking dazed out into the parking lot. He charged back out into the lot for no particular reason, getting well away from the bus, the other teens yelling for him to come back in response.

Aika hopped off the bus quickly and ran towards the teen, bashing two undead hands away that tried to reach for the red-haired girl. She quickly came upon Sora who was fighting to his heart's content with a metal rod that he had snatched up on the way.

"What the fuck are you doing?! We're gonna be surrounded dumbass!" She screamed, battering another undead.

"Huh!? Wait we aren't on the bus?!" He screamed, still having a glazed overlook.

Just then a larger undead student who towered over Sora lunged at the boy, trying to make the kid into his mid-day snack. Aika slammed the weapon she wielded into the undeads mouth, stunning it and sending it tumbling backward as the shocked blue-haired teen just stared.

"GET TO THE FUCKING BUS!" She screamed once more.

"OKAY!" He responded in a hitch-pitched shriek, clearly terrified. The blue-haired teen bolted back towards the buses, using Aika as a distraction so he could get back. He stumbled back over to the bus, being pulled into it by Marco who threw the kid into a seat then went to the door, shouting out to Aika who was still battling the undead a ways away.

"AIKA HE'S ON AND WE'RE GOOD TO GO COME BACK!" He shouted.

Aika caught the teen's eye but stayed silent, still facing a wall of undead foes on each side. She bashed, again and again, making no headway whatsoever in the growing crowd of undead.

"JUST LEAVE ME AND GO!" She screamed in response, backing up from the wall of undead trying to gain distance in the ever closing box that she was in.

"ARE YOU SERIOUS?! NO! I'LL COME HELP!" Marco screamed back, beginning to walk off the bus.

"JUST FUCKING GO!" She screamed back once more, this seemed to give the black-haired boy a kick in the head as he realized just how impossible it looked to get to Aika at this moment in time. He gritted his teeth shutting the bus door and ignoring the shouts from the other teens on the bus to help. Marco sat in the driver seat, spinning up the bus and giving the last wave to Aika who was still fighting, drenched in blood and panting.

The bus shot forward, sliding throughout the parking lot and slamming into several different undead groups including some that were converging on Aika giving her some more headway. The bus finally shot through the gated arch of Akaibara high and disappeared from Aika's sight. She smiled, running towards a more open spot in the area that she was boxed into. The undead's numbers although thinned, were still large and bunched together. The wall coming forward and converging on the girl. She slammed her wrench into the head of another undead, this time the weapon was lodged into the thing's skull with brain bits covering it. She pulled hard but could not dewedge the weapon, so she stepped backwards, gaining the most possible distance from the converging group of undead.

"This is it, huh?" She said aloud, now speaking her thoughts and observing her bloodstained outfit as the undead inched closer.

The teen's vision went slightly blurred and she sighed, fatigue sets in as a result of overexerting herself to her limits. She stumbled back against the wall standing against it as she watched the wall of zombies continuously approaching. The teen's hearing also blanked out slightly.

A tear ran down the red-haired girls cheek, "I couldn't see everyone, haha," She chuckled lightly, a frown gracing her face.

She smiled, laying her head back and staring up at the lowering sun. Taking in the serenity of it and sighing once more. Her ears were full of moans and groans from the undead that were pretty much upon her, but she didn't care. She tuned them all out, only hearing a loud motorcycle engine that sounded far off. The girl shrugged, closing her eyes and speaking, "If only this world was a bit nicer and my dreams could actually come true, goodbye friends, goodbye family, goodbye Rei," She choked out the last part her tears now flowing, free from restriction.

"Goodbye, Takashi."
