They got home the next day. Rosie had been quiet the entire time they were traveling. Hunter knew she hadn't slept well. When they got home Sascha was all over the both of them.
Rosie pet him a bit and hugged him. "Missed you boy." She said
Dave came out from his office when he heard them come in the front door.
Dave and Hunter kissed
"How was the flight?" Dave asked
"It was fine." Hunter said
Dave looked at Rosie. "Was okay for you too?"
Rosie looked up from where she was on the floor with her dog and nodded. "It was good."
Hunter took both his and Rosie's bag and went upstairs.
"Can you stand up?" Dave asked
Rosie did so.
"I'm really sorry." He said making sure she was looking at him in the eyes
"Its okay." Rosie said
"No. It's not okay. I should never have reacted like that. Doesn't matter what you do you don't deserve for me to yell at you like that." Dave said
Rosie nodded. "You yell at suspects like that though…"
Dave smiled abit. "How do you know that?"
"Crime dramas." Rosie said
"Cant always believe everything you see on TV." Dave said
"I don't. But I figured that had to be pretty close to accurate and you asked me how I knew. That is an admission of guilt." Rosie said
Dave laughed. "Oh boy. You sure you don't want to be a lawyer?"
"You're the second person who has asked me that." Rosie said, "So do you yell at suspects like that?"
"I have yes." Dave said
"So say I committed some horrible crime you wouldn't yell at me?" Rosie asked
"No. -I wouldn't. There is several reasons when a case connects us to a loved one we take a back seat. I would not be integrating you. I'm not saying you wouldn't be yelled at but not by me." Dave said
Rosie nodded.
"And you are talking a situation that will likely never happen." Dave said
"You aren't going to say that you know I would never commit a crime?" Rosie asked
"I don't say never for anything. There are crimes that I know you would never do yes. But things happen. You get put in situations in life that you don't know what you would have to do. Do I think you would go commit first degree murder? No. But if you were put in a situation where you had to protect yourself or someone who couldn't protect themselves and you ended up causing harm. Like you had to get away from the guy in London. You did cause him bodily harm. Now you would never be charged for that because you were protecting yourself. But technically that falls under a crime." Dave said
"I never thought about it like that." Rosie said
"You did the right thing. There is not a single good law enforcement officer or agent who would say otherwise. Just to be very clear. You do not need to feel bad about it." Dave said
"But on that logic not something I would get yelled at for." Rosie said
"No. But that's not what this was about exactly. I wouldn't say that I 100% believe you will never commit a crime." Dave said
"You two could argue this topic for hours. Enough." Hunter said with a small chuckle
Dave and Rosie chuckled.
"And you need to eat." Hunter told Rosie.
Dave tilted his head
"Yes. I do." Rosie said
They all went into the kitchen
"Have you not eaten today?" Dave asked
"I wasn't hungry and before you say anything I really wasn't hungry." Rosie said
Dave took a breath.
"But I am now." Rosie said before she pulled out some stuff to make a sandwich.
Dave looked at Hunter.
"Dave. We both know when she is lying about being hungry. That's not what this was." Hunter said
"Okay." Dave said
Rosie made a sandwich and sat down and ate.
"You hungry?" Dave asked Hunter.
"Nope." Hunter said.
When Rosie was done eating she put her plate in the dishwasher before going up to her room.
Hunter looked at Dave. "Did you sleep last night?"
"Not very well." Dave said
"I can tell." Hunter said. "Neither did Rosie. I think we all could use a nap."
"I have to get into the office." Dave said
Hunter shook his head. "You're just going to be in the office? No field work?"
"Not sure." Dave said, "Hunter I'll be fine."
"You make me worry." Hunter said
"I've gone a lot of nights with no sleep or rest at all and still been in the field." Dave said
Hunter nodded "Okay. Go."
Dave kissed him "I will come home in one piece."
Hunter kissed him.
Dave left.
Hunter went and told Rosie to get some rest and he went and did the same.
A few hours Hunter's phone rang. He saw it was Dave.
"Hi Dave. How's work?" Hunter answered
"Bad case Hunt. Um. I need you to bring Rosie into the police station. There is some answers she deserves to know." Dave said
"Is this about the pictures?" Hunter asked
"Yes. And more." Dave said
"Okay. Be there soon." Hunter said
The call was ended, and he went up to Rosie's door and knocked.
"Yeah?" She said a bit groggy
Hunter went in. "Sorry to wake you. But your dad called. Needs you down at the police station. I guess they have some answers for you."
"About the pictures?" Rosie asked
"Yes. And other things too. Not sure what." Hunter said
"Okay. I'll be down in a few minutes." Rosie said
Hunter left the room and went downstairs. Rosie came down a few minutes later and they both went to the police station
They were led to the conference room. Dave was already there waiting. Rosie and Hunter sat down.
"Dad what is it?" Rosie asked
"Lets wait for Will and JJ." Dave said
"Oh. Joint case?" Rosie asked
"Yes." Dave said
"How bad is it daddy?" Rosie asked
Dave put an arm around her and pulled her close and kissed her head. "Its going to be okay."
"Not what I asked." Rosie said softly.
JJ and Will came in and sat down across from the table from the three of them.
Rosie took a breath and looked up at the two of them.
"We have been able to trace the pictures back to the original poster." Will said
"Okay." Rosie said
"And he's dead. He was killed when were trying to apprehend him." JJ said
"Good. Who was he?" Rosie asked
"A friend of Darrin's. We were never able to connect them because he was thought to be dead so when we were looking into past associations his name came up, but he was reported dead." Will said
Rosie nodded. "Okay."
"But when the FBI got involved we had our best tech analyst do her thing and found the GPS of the location of the computer that uploaded them, and he was found. His name was Wayne Nash." JJ said
"Best tech analyst? Penny?" Rosie asked
JJ smiled and nodded. "You know it."
"She also worked with our tech people, and we believe have found all locations that the pictures were online. Cant promise they aren't on personal computers somewhere out there though." Will said
Rosie nodded.
"But we have an alert so if they end up online again it should notify both the FBI and the DCPD." JJ said
Rosie nodded again. "Okay."
"And I promised you that I would find that little girl." Will said. "And I kept it. She is Wayne's daughter. She is safe now with her mom where she was supposed to be."
Rosie's eyes lit up. "Really? W-was she abused?"
"She is getting the help she needs for what she has been through." JJ said
Rosie nodded abit she looked at Will. "Thank you. Both." She said looking at JJ
"Of course." Will said.
"Always." JJ said
"How was this an DCPD and FBI case?" Rosie asked
"Its connected to a child pornography case." JJ said. "Spanning several states."
Rosie nodded. "So how many pedophiles have seen?"
"Don't think about it." JJ said, "Everyone involved will be going to prison."
"Okay." Rosie said
"We have cleared your Instagram and you can use it again if you would like." Will said
Rosie shrugged.
"Rosie you take lots of beautiful pictures and Instagram is an amazing place to share them. You changed your password. And this isn't likely to happen again. Don't let this stop you from sharing the things you want to." JJ said
Rosie nodded. "Has there been messages that have been sent to me regarding the pictures?"
"There was. They have been cleared. That actually helped us track down a lot of pedophiles." Will said
"There is nothing on Instagram left to do with this." JJ said "Penny personally made sure."
Rosie nodded. "Okay. I don't really read those private messages anyways."
"Yeah. Penny figured considering there was a lot of unread things that you probably would have deleted if you had seen them." JJ said
"Yeah. There is a reason I stopped looking at DM's on Instagram lot of creeps on there." Rosie said
JJ nodded. "Yes. there are."
"What kind of things have been said?" Dave asked
"Come on dad think about it." Rosie said "And not just things said. Any I saw I deleted right away."
Dave sighed.
"The dangers of social media." Will said.
"And you wonder why I'm considering staying off of Instagram?" Rosie asked
"No." JJ said. "I get it. But there will be creeps always. Online and in person. You cant stop living your life. Doing the things you love."
"You clearly have a clear head on your shoulders to know how to deal with it. And I think you can set it so no one can message you at all on Instagram." Will said
Rosie nodded. "Okay. I'll do that."
Rosie looked up at her dad. "I figured you knew these things happened."
"I did. I just didn't think you were dealing with it." Dave said
"Okay. Well everyone on Instagram deals with it. And its not the worst of the social media out there for that." Rosie said
"What would you say is?" Will asked
"Kik messenger." Rosie said
"Do you have an account on there?" JJ asked
"Um. Well. I do. I don't use it anymore." Rosie said
Dave sighed. "Yeah. I think you need to delete your account on there. I have heard nothing but bad things about that app."
"Yes. Its really bad." JJ said
"I will do that." Rosie said
"Think someone should go through her phone too." Will said
"Definitely." Both Dave and Hunter said at the same time.
Rosie sighed.
"And a conversation." Hunter said
Rosie rolled her eyes.
Dave and Hunter didn't notice.
Will and JJ did.
"I know they would not appreciate that." Will said to Rosie
Rosie bit her lip.
"Appreciate what?" Dave asked
"She rolled her eyes when Hunter said a conversation was going to be had." JJ said
"Really?" Hunter asked looking down at her.
Rosie sank in her seat a little. "Four against one is not fair." She mumbled
"No one is against you." Will said
"Feels that way." Rosie said
"Why because you got busted for being disrespectful?" Dave asked
Rosie sighed "Anything else that you wanted to tell me?"
"No." JJ said. "You can move on from this and just go on with your life."
Rosie nodded abit "Easier said than done."
"You're one of the strongest and most resilient person I have ever met." JJ said "You will get through this. And you have lots of people who are there when you need someone to help you if you get stuck."
Rosie smiled and nodded. "Thank you. And I know and am eternally grateful."
Dave, Hunter, and Rosie left the station.
"You done for the day?" Hunter asked Dave.
"Yes. Case is done. I'm going to be coming home now." Dave said
"Okay." Hunter said
Rosie went with Hunter, and they all went home.
When they got home Rosie went to go upstairs.
"Nope. Table." Dave said.
Rosie sighed but went to sit.
Dave and Hunter sat across from her.
"Take your phone out. What apps do you use?" Dave asked
Rosie took her phone out and showed them all the apps and explained what the ones they didn't know were. She also deleted her Kik account and deleted the app.
"Well. I think outside of the one app which we believe you weren't using anymore your phone is fine." Dave said handing it back.
Rosie took it back.
"However we still need to discuss the eyerolling." Hunter said
"I'm sorry." Rosie said
"That's not going to cut it this time." Dave said
Rosie let out a breath and nodded.
Hunter got up. "With me."
Rosie got up and went with him to the office. She sighed. She knew what was coming and wasn't looking forward to it.
