The next day she woke up to a little boy jumping on her bed
"Breakfast is ready!" he said "Emily made waffles!"
Rosie groaned. Her sisters never did this.
"Wake up. Wake up. Wake up." Jack said shaking her arm
Sascha was jumping around excited as well.
"I'm awake. I'll be down in a few minutes." She said
Jack jumped off the bed and ran out the room. Sascha ran after him.
Rosie sighed. She liked her sleep. She got up and went to the bathroom before going downstairs to the kitchen.
"Morning." Rosie said
"Good morning." Aaron and Emily said
"Wasn't expecting you to be up for a while." Aaron said sipping his coffee.
"Well. Apparently I don't get to sleep in here." She said with a smirk looking at the boy
Emily chuckled.
Aaron looked at his son. "Did you bother her?"
"I want her to take me to the park." Jack said with a grin.
Aaron shook his head. "You wake her up and expect a favor?" Aaron asked with a smirk
Jack looked at Rosie. "You mad at me?"
Rosie smiled abit "No. But please let me sleep tomorrow."
Jack smiled and nodded
Aaron handed her a cup of coffee and they all sat down and ate.
Rosie was clearly still tired.
"You can go back to bed after if you want." Aaron said
Rosie shook her head. "I'll be fine."
"Do you have any plans today?" Emily asked
"Nope." Rosie said
"No plans with Nolan?" Aaron asked
"Nope. He has plans with his niece." Rosie said
"He just has the one niece right?" Emily asked
"Yup. His one sister has one kid." Rosie said
"His sister and you get along?" Emily asked
"Yes. She likes me better than him." Rosie said with a smirk
Emily chuckled.
"Will you take me to the park? Please." Jack said
Rosie looked up at Aaron. "You okay with it?"
Aaron nodded. "Yes. Its fine."
Rosie looked at Jack and smiled. "Sure. This afternoon."
"Yay!" Jack said
They finished breakfast and Rosie helped Aaron clean up the kitchen.
"You sure you got enough sleep?" Aaron asked
"I've survived on less." Rosie said
"Survival and thriving not the same thing." Aaron said
"Cant thrive all the time." Rosie said
"You should." Aaron said
Emily's phone that she had left in the kitchen started to ring.
"Go. Bring that to her." Aaron said
Rosie picked up the phone and couldn't help but see the name of who was calling her. 'asshat' was the contact Rosie went and brought the phone to Emily.
"Missed a call." Rosie said
Emily took the phone. "Oh. Okay. Thanks." She smiled at the girl
"When you have someone listed as -that in your phone maybe you should just block the number?" Rosie asked.
Emily looked at sighed. "I probably should yes."
Rosie nodded abit and went to go upstairs but she stopped and turned around. "Is it that guy?" she asked clearly concerned.
"Don't worry about it." Emily said with a smile.
"Please tell Uncle Aaron. If you haven't." Rosie said before she went upstairs and got dressed for the day.
Emily took a breath and decided that she was right. And to let her keep this secret wasn't fair anymore. Emily went to Aaron.
Aaron smiled at her abit before he saw her face. "Everything okay?"
"I don't want you to worry but I realize at this point our niece is starting to worry and feel guilty like she is keeping some big secret because you didn't know about this and that's not fair so I'm telling you, so she doesn't feel like its some big secret." Emily said
Aaron nodded. "Okay. What is it?"
"There is this guy in London who has been asking me to go on a date with him. For months. I have made it very clear that I am happily in a relationship and that he needs to back off. He just seems to not know how to take a hint. He actually had the balls to come talk to me when Rosie was in London and tried to get her to convince me to take him up on the offer using the line 'shouldn't your aunt have a boyfriend who lives closer.' Rosie told him off. It was great. He still didn't take the hint." Emily said
Aaron shook his head and smirked abit when she said that Rosie told him off. "What did Rosie say?"
"Well he said what I told you and she responded with something like 'Yeah. Nope. Considering the guy she has across the pond is my uncle. No I don't. and because all I have to do is make one call and he will come here and have a few words for you." Emily said, "Oh and her voice when from very sweet to not so much sweetness."
Aaron chuckled "She does have an attitude when she wants to."
"She did look at me and silently ask if she could say what she wanted to without consequence before she did. I figured he brought her into the conversation when he shouldn't have so I let her say what she had to say." Emily said
Aaron nodded. "I'm sure he deserved it."
"And I only didn't tell you because if I had to tell you every time someone hit on me it would be a never-ending conversation." Emily said
Aaron nodded "I get that. I know you are a very attractive woman. I'm not upset with you." He kissed her.
Emily smiled and kissed him "I'm sure you get your fair share of woman flirting with you too."
Aaron chuckled. "Sometimes."
"So you should go talk to Rosie and let her know she doesn't have to feel guilty." Emily said
"I will do that." Aaron said. "I do have to ask. Is he getting too pushy?"
"I can handle it." Emily said
"Not what I asked." Aaron said
"If I have to get someone else involved I have people at work who can help me get the point across." Emily said
"Okay. Is that who was calling you?" Aaron asked
"Yes." Emily said
"How did he get your number?" Aaron asked
"He was a witness at a crime scene I gave my card to him and everyone else if they thought of anything else." Emily said "I have told him not to call me anymore but he doesn't get the hint."
Aaron nodded. "If he calls again is it okay with you if I answer it?"
Emily nodded. "If you want to. His name in my phone is 'asshat'"
Aaron chuckled. "What is he name?"
"Mark." Emily said
"Okay. I'm going to talk to Rosie." Aaron said kissing her again
Aaron went to the guest room and knocked.
"Yes?" Rosie said
Aaron went in and sat on the end of the bed. "You don't need to worry. Aunt Emily told me about Mark."
Rosie nodded.
"And for the record I know there will be other men who hit on her. Just like she knows there will be other women to hit on me." Aaron said
"I get that yes. Its just. This guy gave me the creeps." Rosie said
"Okay. Well. I know so don't you worry about it anymore okay?" Aaron said
Rosie nodded. "Okay."
"And I apricate that you stood up for me. When he brought you into the conversation that he shouldn't have." Aaron said
Rosie smirked. "She tell you what I said?"
"She did." Aaron said with a chuckle.
"Not going to tell me I shouldn't speak to an adult like that?" Rosie asked
"Nope. If Emily didn't than I'm sure he deserved it." Aaron said
"She did tell me that I cant do that with most adults but that he shouldn't have invited me into the conversation, so he asked for it." Rosie said
Aaron nodded and ruffled her hair.
Rosie chuckled and fixed it abit. "Most girls would be so pissed if you did that."
Aaron chuckled. "Ah. But not you?"
Rosie shrugged. "No. Not when its you anyways."
Aaron smiled.
Rosie's phone went off with a text and she looked at it and sighed
"What's wrong?" Aaron asked
"Since I was in California for Lexi's case. Paige has been texting me saying things like she is going to kill herself or pictures of her arm with cuts to guilt me into talking to her, I have forwarded it all to Captain Franklin and he assures me it is being handled and I don't respond to her." Rosie said. "Dad knows."
Aaron nodded "Okay. Do you want me to call Captain Franklin and make sure its being handled? And didn't you block her number?"
"If you want. And she got a new number." Rosie said
"Your dad hasn't told you to block this number too?" Aaron asked
"He has." Rosie said
"Does he know you didn't listen?" Aaron asked
"No…" Rosie said
Aaron nodded. "Okay. Is this the first time she has texted you since he told you to block it?"
Rosie shook her head
"So he doesn't know everything." Aaron said
Rosie shook her head again
"Block her number. Now." Aaron said
Rosie did so.
"And do not unblock it. Or I will tell your dad you didn't in the first place." Aaron said
She looked up at him. "You wont tell him I didn't?"
"Not if you keep it blocked." Aaron said
"Okay. I will. Promise." Rosie said
"Good." Aaron said.
Rosie smiled abit.
"You okay?" He asked
"I know Paige has been a complete ass to me and to lots of people. But when I see her parents they were and are the same way. We follow what we see. I'm not the same person I was when I was living with the Long's. For many reasons one of which is yes I'm not afraid of being abused. But also because I mimicked my environment and the people around me." Rosie said. "Paige has mimicked her parents. And the religion she is being raised in."
Aaron nodded. "You think she can change?"
"Anyone can change if put in the right environment for growth." Rosie said
"Yes. That is true. But even if you wanted to give her that chance. There is a restraining order in place." Aaron said
Rosie nodded.
"And I don't doubt she is hurting. Does her dad treat her well?" Aaron asked
"Like a princess." Rosie said
"So she loves him. And no matter what he did she will still love him. So she has every right to be hurting. And you are handling this exactly right. You are telling someone who can help her. Even if you were still her friend. There is only so much you can do from so far away. You have to let the professionals help her." Aaron said
Rosie nodded. "But I cant know if she needs help with her number blocked."
Aaron nodded. "You have helped enough. I'm sure the police have talked to her mom. You have done all you can do."
Rosie nodded.
"You have a huge heart. And that's part of what makes you who you are. But that heart can only take so much. You need to talk care of your own heart too." Aaron said
Rosie nodded.
"So you can put it out of your mind. I will call Captain Franklin. And I will make sure that Paige is getting the help she needs." Aaron said
"Okay. Thank you." Rosie said with a smile.
Aaron smiled. He left the room.
Rosie took her phone and texted Nolan.
'How is the museum with your niece?'
Nolan texted back abit later
'Good. Amazes me everyday how cleaver she is' Nolan send
'Give her a hug for me. And you better be encouraging that cleverness.' Rosie said
'I will. And always.' Nolan sent
Rosie picked up the book she was reading and read for a few hours before being called for lunch.
She went down and ate with everyone.
Afterwards Jack looked at her. "Time for the park?"
"Sure." Rosie said
She got Sascha on his leash and the three of them went to the park. She played fetch with Sascha as Jack played with some other kids on the playground.
Rosie noticed some boys picking on Jack.
She got up and went over by the time she got there someone else was stepping into to help.
The boys took off quickly.
Rosie turned to Jack and bent down and hugged him. Before she looked up at the other person who had been stepping in before she could get there.
"Thank you." She said slowly realizing who it was. "Whitney." She said
"Um. Yeah. No problem. He is my brother's friend." Whitney said
Rosie nodded and looked at Jack again "Are you okay?"
Jack nodded. "They are just mean."
"Yeah. People can be mean." Rosie said
Jack nodded.
Rosie stood up. "Whitney. I owe you."
Whitney shook her head. "No you don't. Least I can do."
Rosie looked at Jack. "You want to keep playing with your friends?"
Jack nodded.
"Go ahead." Rosie said
Jack went off with his friends.
Rosie looked at Whitney. "Haven't seen you around the school lately."
"I graduated." Whitney said
"Oh." Rosie said, "I thought you were the same age as Cass and them." Rosie said
"Nope. Cute dog." Whitney said
"Thanks. His name is Sascha." Rosie said. Sascha was all over her licking her.
Rosie smiled. "Sascha calm down." She sat down on a bench close to the play area. Whitney sat with her. Sascha at their feet
"I heard your dad was getting married to a guy with a bunch of kids. Is Jack your step brother?" Whitney asked
"No. I have six step sister now though. Jack is the son of someone my dad works with. The team my dad works with is very close. So Jack I call him my cousin." Rosie said
"Oh. Cool." Whitney said
"You just have the one brother?" Rosie asked
"Four. I'm the oldest and only girl." Whitney said
Rosie said. "You in collage or anything?"
"Nope. I have been working." Whitney said
"Cool. Where?" Rosie asked
"The target." Whitney said
"Cool." Rosie said
"Rosie. I was awful to you. I'm so sorry." Whitney said "I was jealous. You always had a smile on your face and seemed to be so happy and I interpreted that as you had a perfect life. I was jealous. So when your story…." Whitney started
"Ended up on the school website." Rosie finished
"Yeah. I-I took advantage of it to bring you down to where I was." Whitney said
Rosie nodded. "I'm taking it you had and maybe still have your own shit going on."
Whitney nodded. "Just got full custody of my brothers from my father."
Rosie nodded. "Oh."
"Our mom passed when my baby brother was born. Before that my father was a good father. But losing his wife. And having to take care of five kids. He started drinking. And he tried to take his anger out on the baby, so I stepped in front of it. Every time…" Whitney said
"I'm so sorry." Rosie said
"Thanks." Whitney said "But when I turned eighteen I fought for and won custody. But its why I cant go to collage. I need to take care of them."
Rosie nodded. "Give me your phone."
Whitney did and Rosie put her number in. "If you ever need help or a break I have been babysitting for years. Or if you just need to talk. Call me."
Whitney looked at her. "Why are you so ready to help me after I treated you the way I did."
"I used to be the bully… When I was going through hell. You were going through hell. You just took it out on others. I changed. So can you. I can see you have. And you saved my cousin when I couldn't get there fast enough." Rosie said
"Thank you." Whitney said
"I do have a question. That have been bugging me since you said it." Rosie said
"Okay." Whitney said cautiously
"After my story came out. And we were going back and forth in class. Where did you get the idea that I went from 'rags to riches'?" Rosie asked
Whitney made a face. "I assumed I guess. I figured out who your dad was. And I know he has to be loaded with money because his books have sold a lot of copies."
Rosie nodded. "Fair enough. I was never 'poor' so to speak. But yeah I'm most definitely spoiled now, and I wasn't than." She said with a smile
Whitney chuckled. "I can image that a father who lost his daughter for so many years would give her everything she asks for."
"Yeah. Things I don't even really ask for. I have to be careful. If I say I like something I have it within forty-eight hours." Rosie said "I know I'm spoiled so much. And I don't take it for granted."
"You went through hell. And Um. I'm guessing still have some shit going on. Just based on somethings I have seen. And you are so kind and have the biggest heart. You deserve to be spoiled." Whitney said
"What have you seen?" Rosie asked
"Um. Certain photos…." Whitney said
"How?!" Rosie asked
Whitney took a breath. "The way I got custody of my brothers. Is one my father was abusing us all. Two… um. I stumbled onto them on his computer. With lots of others. I went to the police and told them as soon as I. I also know that he had been friends with your old neighbour. I knew someone in the area had been a victim. I kind of… Put things together." Whitney said.
Rosie sighed.
"Sorry. I get it if you rescind your offer." Whitney said
Rosie took a breath and shook her head "You are not your father. You went to the police. I appreciate it. You probably helped them find how they got online in the first place. And probably helped bring down a child pornography ring."
"Did they?" Whiney said
Rosie nodded. "Yup. Guy who posted them was killed when they tried to apprehend him. And have arrested 100s of people apparently."
"Good." Whitney said
Rosie nodded
"If your dad was friends with Sebastian or Darren what ever you knew him as. You ever meet his dog?" Rosie asked
"Yeah. Felt bad for the poor thing." Whitney said
Rosie pointed to Sascha.
Whitney's eyes went big. "How did you end up with him?"
Rosie told her the story.
"Wow. Glad he is well taken care of now. And a new name." Whitney said
"Yeah. His chip had his old name. The veterinarian wouldn't tell me the name. Just that it should be changed." Rosie said
"Cockface…" Whitney said
Rosie's jaw dropped.
"Yeah…" Whitney said, "I just called him sweet boy and things like that."
"I knew it had to be bad. But that's…." Rosie said
Whitney nodded
"Well it explains why he is all over you. He remembers you and how well you treated him." Rosie said with a smile
Whitney smiled and pet the dog that was right up against her. "I'm so glad he is happy. And a much better name."
"It is german. Means protector of mankind." Rosie said, "And he is the biggest protector."
Whitney smiled. "You german?"
"No. He is a german shepherd, so I went with a german name. I had to research till I found one with a meaning that I felt described him well." Rosie said "I'm italian american and native american."
"The italian makes sense with your last name. Never would have guessed the native american." Whitney said
"My mother was native. I have only been learning about that part of me in the last year." Rosie said
"Your mother passed. When? Did you get to know her after being found?" Whitney asked
"No. She passed. Um. In childbirth." Rosie said.
Whitney nodded abit. "And your dad didn't lose his shit like mine?"
Rosie let out a breath. "Sorry. I know its not what you want to hear but no."
"Its okay." Whitney said "I'm sure lots of people die in childbirth. I'm guessing most don't turn around and abuse the child or children they have."
Rosie gave her a bit of a hug.
"Change of subject." Whitney said. "Your dad married a man right?"
"Yes. My stepfather. Call him papa. They actually got married yesterday. That's why I'm with my uncle and cousin this week." Rosie said. "Because I don't he will let me be alone over night till I'm eighteen."
Whitney chuckled. "What about your new stepsisters?"
"They are with their mom." Rosie said
"Ooh." Whitney said. "I'm guessing since you call him papa you like him?"
"Yes. They haven't been together very long in the grand scheme of things, and he treats me the exact same as his bio-daughters, so it was easy to treat him like another dad." Rosie said
"So you went from being an only child to having six sisters?" Whitney asked
"Only to oldest of seven yup. That's been a bigger transition." Rosie said
"Yikes. Being the oldest is hard. But being an only to six younger sisters so quickly. I couldn't imagine." Whitney said
"But I have never been expected to take care of them or needed to protect them from our dads, so I cant imagine if I had to do that." Rosie said
Whitney nodded
Sascha started to whimper towards the play area.
Rosie looked up and saw Jack walking across the top of the monkey bars.
"Shit." Rosie said getting up she went over. "Jack. Get down" She said
"In a minute." Jack said
"No. Now." Rosie said
Jack kept going back and forth across the top ignoring her.
"Jack. I don't think your dad is going to appreciate you doing this and ignoring me. Get down. Now." Rosie said
Jack continued to ignore her.
His friends giggled below. She looked down and recognized them as kids she had babysat.
"Keep it up I can call your parents." Rosie said
A few stopped
Whitney noticed and saw her brother was one of them she came over and told him off.
"Jack Hotchner. Now." Rosie said
Jack smirked and continued to ignore her.
Rosie looked at Whitney. "Where are these other boys parents or whomever?"
"Most of them are here alone." Whitney said
Rosie took out her phone took a picture.
"I will send this to your dad." Rosie said
Jack hesitated for only a second before continuing.
Rosie sent the picture and called Aaron.
"Did you see the picture uncle Aaron?" Rosie asked when he answered
"I did. I take it you told him to get down?" Aaron said
"Several times. But his little friends are here, and he is trying to look like a big shot." Rosie said
"Speaker." Aaron said
Rosie put it on speaker
"Jack Hotchner. If you do not get down there right now I will come there, and you will be very embarrassed in front of your little friends." Aaron said sternly
Jack whimpered. His friends stop giggling.
"Now Jack." Aaron said
Jack got down.
"He is down, and we are coming back." Rosie said
"Okay." Aaron said
Rosie grabbed the collar of Jack's shirt with one hand and had the leash in the other hand and looked at Whitney.
"Call me sometime." Rosie said
"I will. Sorry my brother made this more difficult." Whitney said
Rosie nodded and looked at the other boys. "For those of you I don't know, you better hope his dad doesn't figure out who you all are because he will call all your parents. And those of you who I do know I will be calling your parents."
Whitney smirked. "I will text you all their names."
"Thank you." Rosie said before dragging Jack home.
"Ouch. You're hurting me." Jack said struggling
"Stop struggling." Rosie said
Jack did so and Rosie loosened her grip abit.
When they got back to the house she let him go and opened the door
Jack went inside.
Aaron came to the door when he heard it open his arms crossed at his son.
Rosie went inside the house more getting away from the two. He might not be angry with her, but he was scary when angry regardless. She filled Sascha's water bowl. She heard two sets of feet heading upstairs.
Emily came into the kitchen. "Gave you a hard time huh?"
"Yes." Rosie said
"Uncle Aaron showed me the picture." Emily said
"Yeah. His little friends where there and egging him on with laughing cause he was ignoring me." Rosie said
"I think his friends parents need to be called." Emily said
"I will be calling the parents of those I do know from babysitting. The others I will have their names soon. Someone I went to school with was there with her brother. She knows all the boys names." Rosie said "Uncle Aaron can call those parents. I feel like they will be more likely to trust the words of another parent than some teen they don't know." Rosie added
Emily smiled abit. "You are very trust worthy."
"Thank you. But you know me." Rosie said, "And you are still saying that after London?"
"You made a mistake. I'd still trust you with any child I ever have." Emily said with a smile.
Rosie smiled.
Aaron came into the kitchen. "I'm sorry he gave you a hard time."
Rosie nodded.
"He will apologize to you too." Aaron said
"Okay." Rosie said
Her phone buzzed and she looked at it.
"Ah. The name list." Rosie said
"Name list?" Aaron asked
"List of all the boys who were laughing and egging Jack on." Rosie said "And two of them were boys who were bullying him before that."
Aaron nodded. "Good. Who did you get them from?"
"Someone who I went to highschool with who's brother was one of the boys. She is handling him." Rosie said
Aaron nodded. "Telling their parents?"
"She is his legal parent. She got custody at eighteen." Rosie said
Aaron nodded "Okay."
"And I can call a few parents. Of the kids I babysit." Rosie said
"Okay." Aaron said
Rosie told him which ones she didn't know and than took her phone and went to make a few calls.
Aaron looked at Emily.
"You okay?" Emily asked
"I'm okay." Aaron said
"Well. Once the kids are in bed. I can make that okay. Fantastic." Emily said with a smirk
Aaron smirked. "Oh really?"
"Definitely." Emily said
Aaron kissed her deeply. Emily continued the kiss for a minute before breaking from it.
"Now. Go make those calls." Emily said.
Aaron chuckled and went to do so.
Emily started to prepare dinner.
Rosie came back down a bit later and started to help Emily.
"Uncle Aaron told me about the texts from Paige." Emily said
"Yeah. I blocked her number now." Rosie said
"Good." Emily said
"Wasn't given a choice." Rosie said
"Well your dad and uncle Aaron are looking out for you. And have a better understanding of what can happen." Rosie said
Rosie sighed. "I know. Which is why I listened."
"Really? Pretty sure its because you know if your dad finds out you didn't when he told you to in the first place, you will be in trouble." Aaron said coming into the room.
"Can it be both?" Rosie asked
Aaron smiled. "Sure."
Aaron lifted the lid of a pot to see what was cooking. Emily swatted his hand with a wooden spoon. "Out of there." She said
Aaron made a small, pained noise and removed his hand.
Rosie giggled
Emily smirked
"Okay. I get it. Moving away now." Aaron said walking away from the stove.
"Damn right." Emily said
Aaron shook his head and looked at his niece. "No issues with the parents you called?"
"Nope. They all love me." Rosie said with a smile.
"Yeah. Connor's dad says you have really been a big life saver lately." Aaron's said
"Yeah. He's been working a lot of late hours." Rosie said not sounding very sure of herself.
Aaron and Emily looked at each other.
"I think he is up for some promotion so makes sense." Aaron said
Rosie nodded. "That's what he said yes."
"But you don't believe that?" Emily asked
"Why do you ask that?" Rosie asked
"Because you don't sound so sure of it." Aaron said
"I have no reason to doubt him." Rosie said
"Rose. You have shown that you have a good gut instinct. If you really think something is up. It probably is." Aaron said
"But its not my business to even ask." Rosie said
"Probably not." Emily said
"But I'll see if I can run into him somewhere and talk to him. Make sure everything is okay." Aaron said
Rosie smiled abit. "Thank you. Did you call Captain Franklin about Paige?"
"I did. He says he will make sure she gets help." Aaron said
"Thank you." Rosie said
"Of course." Aaron said kissing her head "Why don't you go talk to Jack? I'll help finish dinner."
Rosie went and knocked on Jack's door.
"Come in." Jack said
Rosie went in and saw him playing on the floor. She went and sat on the beanbag chair in his room.
Jack looked at him. "Sorry…" he said
"For?" Rosie asked. She hated when that was played on her, but she saw the benefits in this moment.
"For not listening to you and coming down from the monkey bars." Jack said
Rosie nodded. "Come here" She said opening her arms.
Jack came over and they hugged. "Its forgiven." She said
"Did you really call Connor's dad?" Jack asked
Rosie nodded. "And the other friends of yours whose parents I know. And your dad called the others."
"You know Elliot's sister?" Jack asked
"Yup. We went to highschool together." Rosie said
"He used to come to school with bruises… Till his sister got him away from their dad." Jack said
"Why didn't you tell your dad?" Rosie asked
"He told me not to…" Jack said
Rosie nodded. "Yeah that can be hard when we don't want our friends upset with us."
"Did I do the wrong thing?" Jack asked
"Well. I don't know. But I do think if anything like this ever happens again with another friend you should tell your dad. Sometimes we have to do the things we don't want to, to protect our friends. Even if they don't want us to." Rosie said
Jack nodded
"Sometimes it is very hard to do what is right. But doing the right things when it is hard makes us better people." Rosie said
Jack nodded abit and looked down
"Something you need to tell someone?" Rosie asked
"I don't know if I should tell you or dad." Jack said
"Who is it about?" Rosie asked
"Mr. Fuller" Jack said
"Okay. Well you can tell me and if I think he needs to know we can tell your dad together." Rosie said
"I think he is really sick…" Jack said
"Oh no. That would not be good. Why do you think that?" Rosie asked
"I've seen him take lots of medication." Jack said
"Oh. Well. What do you mean by a lot?" Rosie asked
"I don't know. He has a lot of bottles like the one you have." Jack said
"You mean what I take with breakfast?" Rosie asked
Jack nodded.
"Okay. Well sometimes people take medication, and they aren't physically sick. I'm not sick. I have to take the medication because my brain works differently than some other people and I need the medication so I can focus and other things like that." Rosie said, "And the other ones are because my body doesn't produce enough of calcium and iron which everyone has in their bodies, but some people need help because their bodies just don't." Rosie said, "So Mr. Fuller could just be taking things to help his body produce what it is supposed to."
Jack nodded "He has needles too…"
Rosie let out a breath. "Diabetics have to use insulin that's in needles it can help if people produce to much sugar in their bodies." Rosie was starting to think she might have figured out what was going on with Connor's father. And it wasn't simply needing medications for some medical conditions.
Jack nodded
"Let me talk to your dad about this okay?" Rosie asked
"Okay." Jack said
"You don't worry about it. I'm sure Connor's dad is going to be just fine." Rosie said with a smile
"Okay." Jack said
They were called down to dinner and they both went. They all ate but Rosie was obviously distracted. When they finished eating Emily took Jack to go watch a movie in the other room leaving Aaron and Rosie to talk.
"What's wrong?" Aaron asked
"Um. When I was talking to Jack. He told me some things about Connor's dad and I-I think I might know what's going on… And its not good." Rosie said
"Okay. What?" Aaron asked
"He said he has seen him with lots of pill bottles and needles." Rosie said "And the way he has been. I'm now wondering if he has gotten addicted to drugs or something."
Aaron took a breath and nodded. "Okay. I will look into it. Thank you for telling me."
Rosie nodded "I'm worried for Connor."
"I promise I will deal with this asap." Aaron said
"Okay." Rosie said
The two of them cleaned up the kitchen before joining the other two for a movie.
