The rest of the week at Aaron's was fine. She stayed out of trouble. When her dads got back home she went home. She did sit down with them and tell them about what happened with Mr. Fuller.
"I take it Uncle Aaron handled it?" Dave asked
"Yes." Rosie said looking down
Dave tilted his head. "You sure?"
"Yes." Rosie said. "Go ahead and call him and ask."
Dave nodded "Okay. You just seem. Seems like something is off."
Rosie shrugged. "You can ask him."
"Everything okay?" Hunter asked
"Yes." Rosie said
"Okay." Hunter said
"Anything else happen we should know about?" Dave asked
"Um. Well. Good thing. Went to the park with Jack. Ran into Whitney. Girl who used to bully me. She stepped in when Jack was getting bullied before I could get to him, and it led to us talking. Found out what was going on in her life that made her a bully. She apologized. We are I guess friendly is the right word now." Rosie said
"That -is good." Dave said
"Um. About that. Something not so good. Her father is in prison. He was part of the child pornography ring that was broken up. She found pictures on his computer and reported it." Rosie said
Dave and Hunter nodded slowly.
"Her father was friends with Darren. She actually knew Sascha from when he was with him." Rosie said
Dave was stunned. "Was she a victim?"
"I don't think so." Rosie said
"How did it come up?" Hunter asked
Rosie let out a breath. "Some of the pictures she saw before looking away…mine."
"I see." Dave said
"She did the right thing. I verified with Uncle Will that she did tell the police. He told me yes." Rosie said
Dave nodded
"I guess her dad was also abusive to her and her four brother. That and everything else led to her getting full custody when she turned eighteen." Rosie said
Dave and Hunter nodded.
"Mom not around?" Hunter asked
"Mom died in childbirth with the youngest. Apparently that triggered drinking and the abuse. He went for the baby first, but Whitney didn't let that happen." Rosie said "She thinks its because he blamed the baby for her death…"
Dave shook his head. "I will never understand how a father can think that. To be very clear Rosie. Never. Not once. Have I -ever. Thought your mother death was you fault. Okay? It wasn't."
Rosie nodded
"You okay?" Hunter asked
"Just reeling with everything that has happened." She let out a breath
Dave and Hunter nodded.
"I'm sorry I got in trouble while you were away. I will never do something like that again." Rosie said
"Aaron handled it. Its forgiven." Dave said
"Anything else you need to tell us?" Hunter asked
Rosie shook her head a little. "Don't think so."
"Captain Franklin called while we were away." Dave said
Rosie looked down and mouthed 'fuck'
"Can you explain how if you blocked her number she contacted you again?" Hunter asked
"I never actually said I blocked it…" Rosie said
Dave sighed.
"I have blocked it now." Rosie said
"Didn't think Uncle Aaron would tell me this when I call him?" Dave asked
Rosie didn't want to throw him under the bus, so she said nothing.
"You were asked a question." Hunter said
"He made me block her number and told me if I unblocked it he would tell you." Rosie said
Dave shook his head.
"Don't be angry with him." Rosie said
"That is between him and I." Dave said
Rosie sighed.
"Anything else?" Hunter asked clearly annoyed
"No sir." Rosie said
"Go." Hunter said
Rosie went quickly and took out her phone.
'Uncle Aaron. I'm so sorry. Captain Franklin called my dad, and he knows that I hadn't blocked Paige and you knew, and he asked me if I thought you weren't going to tell him when he called you because I hadn't told him.' She sent it to him
Aaron got the text and laughed a bit and than made a cringe face.
Emily looked at him "What?"
Aaron showed her the text.
"Uh oh." Emily said
"Don't know what he is going to have to say about that." Aaron said
"Pissed big brother?" Emily asked with a chuckle.
"Yeah. Likely. I know that feeling." Aaron said
"Have you talked to your brother lately?" Emily asked
"I'm assuming you mean Sean and no." Aaron said.
"You should." Emily said
"I will." Aaron said
Aaron's phone rang. It was Dave. He answered.
"Hi Dave." Aaron said
"So I'm here with Hunter our daughter told me about what happened with Mr. Fuller." Dave said
"Good." Aaron said
"You did deal with it correct?" Dave asked
"Yes I did. Why?" Aaron asked
"She just. Something seemed off when she told us you did." Dave said
"Oh. I really hope I didn't go to far. Um. I used the belt. I did talk with her about it before with everything you have told me about the abuse and how it could be a trigger for her. And she said she was okay after. But maybe she lied." Aaron said. "I will recheck in with her about that."
"Okay. It doesn't seem like she is scared of you just maybe she was worried about us knowing that the belt could be an option." Dave said
"Well. I wouldn't have used but what she did was… bad." Aaron said
"Agreed. Aaron you know Hunter and I trust you with our daughters 100%." Dave said
"I know. That hasn't changed at all?" Aaron asked
"Ah. She warned you did she?" Dave asked
"She did." Aaron said with a small nervous chuckle
"Why do you sound so nervous Aaron?" Dave asked with a smirk
Aaron sighed. "Well. Because I kept something about your daughter from you."
"I'm not angry." Dave said "All that was important was she blocked the number. You made sure that happened. And Rosie has been handling this situation really well so I'm not to upset with her either."
Emily was enjoying watching Aaron squirm and a chuckle came out.
"Was that Emily?" Dave asked
"It was. She is enjoying my torment." Aaron said
"Ah." Dave said
"Did she know?" Hunter asked
Aaron smirked and put the phone on speaker.
"Ask her yourself. You're on speaker." Aaron said
"I know my self-proclaimed best friend would have told me about what my daughter was up to if she knew. Right?" Hunter asked Emily
Emily cleared her throat and glared at Aaron. "I figured it was between Aaron and Rosie. And one of them to tell you and Dave."
"Uh huh." Hunter said
"Don't play with fire if you don't want to get burned." Aaron told her smirk still evident.
"The BAU might need a new unit chief when I'm done with Aaron." Emily said
"Well. I wish you luck with this one Aaron." Dave said "See you at work on Monday. Hopefully." He said before hanging up and laughing.
Hunter laughed as well.
Dave kissed him "I love having someone always on my side."
"Always." Hunter said kissing him.
"Now what do we do with that daughter of ours for not blocking the number and letting us think she did?" Dave asked
Hunter shrugged "Ground her for the rest of the weekend."
"Perfect." Dave said.
Dave went up to her room and knocked.
"Yes?" She said
Dave went in.
"You are grounded for the weekend because you choose to lie about blocking Paige's number." He said
Rosie sighed and nodded.
"And I did talk to Uncle Aaron. He told me about using the belt. Are you okay?" Dave asked
Rosie nodded
"You're sure?" Dave asked
"I'm okay." Rosie said
"Didn't cause any flashbacks or anything?" Dave asked
Rosie looked down
"You know Uncle Aaron would want to know. And so do I." Dave said sitting on the end of her bed.
"There wasn't flashbacks. And no. I do not think he abused me. I know I screwed up worst than I ever have and that it was warranted." Rosie said
"But?" Dave asked
"Had nightmares that night…" Rosie said
"You didn't tell Uncle Aaron?" Dave asked
Rosie shook her head. "I didn't want him to feel bad. It was just the one night and I woke up and once I was fully conscious I knew I was somewhere safe." Rosie said
Dave nodded. "Okay. Well Uncle Aaron is going to call you. You tell him the truth."
Rosie let out a breath. "I don't want him to feel like he did something wrong."
"Tell him that." Dave said
Rosie nodded. "Know when he will call me?"
"Not sure. Soon I assume." Dave said
"You get all your homework for the weekend done?" Dave asked
"Most of it. Just abit left in math." Rosie said
"I haven't seen any tests or anything since the beginning of the year." Dave said
"I've been doing well." Rosie said
"I would still like to see them." Dave said
Rosie went to her desk and picked up the three binders that were there. "Math, social studies and german. They are the only binders I have at home this weekend." She handed them to him "I'll bring the rest home sometime this week and show you."
Dave nodded and smiled "Thank you." He looked through them. And she had been truthful nothing was below a 90.
"Good job." He said putting them back on her desk.
"Oh. And there is a photo album." She pointed to the hutch on the top of her desk. "Its blue and felt. Those are pictures of me. When I was in California."
Dave took the photo album down. "Where did you get this?"
"When I went back to the house with grandpa he told me if I wanted anything take it. That album is only pictures of me. I figured it belonged to me and you deserved to at least have pictures from that time." Rosie said
Dave went over to her and kissed her head. "Thank you Bambina."
Rosie smiled. "Love you dad."
"Love you too." Dave said before leaving her room with the album and went downstairs. He sat on the couch with it in his lap.
Hunter noticed and went and sat down with him. "What's that?"
"Photos of Rosie growing up in that house. Only pictures of her from that time." Dave said
Hunter took his hand and squeezed it. "You're holding back from looking. Why?"
"I know she was abused in that home. And I'm scared to see bruises or something."
Hunter nodded. "I get that."
They were quiet for a minute. "We can go one page at a time. And if we see something like that we can stop. That is if you want me here with you." Hunter said
"Of course I want you here." Dave said he let out a breath and opened the cover.
They looked through the album and saw Rosie growing up. She looked like a very happy kid.
"Its no wonder that outsiders didn't see what was going on. She looked so happy." Dave said
Hunter nodded. "She has always been pretty good at hiding her feeling. Right?"
Dave nodded. "And I think. This is why. She had to for fear of it being worse. She told her friends parents what happened when they saw a bruise on her arm. And they just went back to them and told them what she said."
"So people knew." Hunter said
"Yup. Paige and Lexi's parents.
"And we are letting her around Lexi's parents?" Hunter asked
"They have apologized to me and Rosie. And I let her see Lexi. I'm not thrilled about her being around the parents, but Lexi is a minor and therefore comes with parents. I don't think I would let Rosie go there and spend the night or anymore than a day." Dave said
Hunter nodded. "I wish I had known."
"Sorry. I thought I had told you." Dave said
"Its okay. I get it. There is so much from her past. Things are going to come up." Hunter said
Dave nodded. "You wouldn't have gone to dinner with them?"
"I don't know." Hunter said "Like you I wouldn't have an issue with her spending time with Lexi. She is a child in all this too. And that yes means she comes with parents."
Dave nodded
"Did Rosie tell you they are moving to LA. That Lexi is getting into acting?" Hunter asked
"She did." Dave said "I'm thrilled that Lexi is getting a chance to explore the world. It will be good for her."
"Did she tell you that Lexi suggested she try to go to school in California?" Hunter asked
Dave took a breath. "Kills me to know that she is likely going to be away from me for several years."
"She will always come home. This will always be her home. And we will make sure that she comes home as often as possible." Hunter said
Dave smiled abit "I was just robbed of so many years. And I only have a few years with her before she's grown and doesn't need me anymore."
"Dave she will always need her dad. Doesn't matter how old we get we need our parents. It kills me that mine don't talk to me anymore. I wish I could have the relationship with them that we have with our kids. And the girls will yes all grow up and go into the world and find themselves. But they will always come back home. Even if its just for short visits." Hunter said
Dave nodded. "I'm sorry your parents aren't there for you the way they should be. And I'm sorry you don't have relationships with your siblings anymore."
"Me too. But I was done putting my happiness on the back burner. They don't want to be there for me. For my chosen family then they can stay away." Hunter said
"And I'm sorry mine never got a chance to know you. Or the girls. She only met Rosie a handful of times before she passed." Dave said
"She passed before Rosie was taken right?" Hunter asked
"Yes. And I'm almost glad she did. Because her granddaughter being taken would have killed her." Dave said, "It almost did me."
Hunter nodded. "I couldn't imagine."
Dave took a breath.
"Hey. You lost out on to many years, and you can never get those back and its not nor will it ever be fair. But you get the rest of your life to be her dad. And get to see her find herself. Become who she will be. Watch her get married and have kids if she wants." Hunter said
Dave smiled and nodded. "And I get to do it with you."
Hunter smiled and nodded "Till the end."
Dave looked back down at the album and kept looking through it.
"She has always looked like you." Hunter said
Dave smiled. "You think so?"
Hunter nodded. "I do."
They finished looking through the album
Meanwhile Rosie was doing homework and her phone rang. She looked at it and sighed.
"Hi Uncle Aaron." She said answering it
"Hey Rose. How are you?" Aaron asked
"I'm okay. Just finishing up my math homework." Rosie said, "Sorry I got you busted by my dad."
Aaron chuckled. "That's okay."
"Anyways. Why I was calling is just wanting to check in and make sure that you are okay." Aaron said
"Okay? With what?" Rosie asked she knew exactly what, but she wasn't going to admit that
"With me having to go so hard on you." Aaron said
"Oh. Yes. I'm okay. I told you I was after." Rosie said
"Okay. Just wanted to make sure." Aaron said, "You know that you can always talk to me if there is a problem right?"
"Yes. I know." Rosie said
"Okay. Well I will let you finish your homework." Aaron said
"Okay. Bye Uncle Aaron" Rosie said
Aaron said bye as well and they hung up.
Rosie felt a pit in her stomach. She didn't feel good lying to him. But it was for a good reason. He didn't need to know. Right?
