The first time

There she was. Walking in circles, fidgeting with her tails, her heart racing.

*cling cling* *cling cling*

The bell she uses on her hair chimed with every turn she made.

She was waiting for this moment for so long… they were waiting for this moment for so long.

As soon as the borders opened, they knew it was the time to do it, after all, a new lockdown could be placed anytime in the future without prior notice again.

They spent days planning the details so that they could spend as much time as possible.

The pace of their conversations started to go faster and faster as their ideas started to form some sort of schedule.

Of course they know each other pretty well, they are often chatting and playing games, but this was the first time they would see each other's faces in real life.

Her day started with her usual morning routine. She opened her eyes, squirmed between her sheets like a worm and finally sat on her bed.

A big yawn ended her trip from the dream land.

She stared at the calendar, today was sunday… today was the day.

She jumped out of bed and rushed to the bathroom.

She picked up some warm clothes and made sure everything was clean and tidied up. She has been cleaning and organizing her apartment for the last 3 days, something she wouldn't normally be this obsessed about.

At the kitchen, she prepared her coffee kettle and put bread on the toaster.

She rushed to the bedroom again and made her bed neat.

After a tasty breakfast, she sat on her computer to watch some reality shows' videos to kill some time until she had to move to the station.

As the time grew closer, she started to feel uneasy, to the point she could stay on her chair.

She was being so silly about all this. All she could do was think about how many things she wanted to talk about and places to go with her guest.

It was unbelievable, this never happened to her before, it had to be this in-person social interactions drought that affected her to this level.

When the time was up, she picked a coat and quickly headed off to the train station.

Her guest would be here at any moment. It takes a somewhat long flight and a train to get there.

There weren't that many people around at the station.

Every now and then, her heart raced a little bit.

At some point she started to walk in circles.

She was feeling better than ever, like if the sun was shining for her.

A gentle breeze bit her cheeks, she should have brought a scarf too.

She heard the distant train approaching. Her guest should be arriving on it.

Suddenly, she felt like she was the only person there, in a void space.

A very shy and restrained smile started to contort her face.

She couldn't hide her excitement when she finally saw the train, her tails started wiggling from side to side wildly, as if she were a dog.

The world around her was starting to fade, she could only see the train getting closer and closer.

The train finally arrived at the station.

She rushed to get to a spot where her friend would see her easily when she got to the train's doors, and waited, fidgeting with one of her tails.

The beating of her heart intensified with each person coming out of the train.

Then.

She spotted a rush of blue moving towards one of the train doors through the windows.

That was her! Her long awaited guest… that one long distant friend was finally there, they would see each other's faces for real anytime soon!

Her guest finally got off the train.

The blue haired girl's gaze scanned the whole place in a quick motion while stepping in the station.

And then.

Their gazes met.

It was sudden. Both of them were paralized instantly.

For a couple of seconds, the world… time stopped at that moment.

For so long they have waited for that moment.

For they have finally met face to face at that moment… for the first time.
