Chapter 9:
Training Begins
"The Style you used earlier, Twilight, is crude, archaic, and obvious, but you got the job done," Luna explained, as she, Celestia, Twilight, and Spike walked back inside the Temple, "Not bad, considering you haven't been taught anything about what it means to be an Alicorn,".
"Really? Thanks…I think," Twilight said, feeling confused about whether it was a compliment or not.
"But if you are going to have a chance against Slash and the Dark Army, that means you're going to have to learn a lot more," Celestia said.
"Wait, so Twilight's going to school again?" Spike asked, being confused and scratching the back of his head.
"Not like any school you ever know, young dragon," Luna stated to him, looking at him seriously.
"Now…it's time to unleash the true Alicorn within you, Twilight," Celestia said as it is time to teach Twilight what it means to be a true Alicorn within herself.
"Now you see, Twilight. Each Alicorn Guardian is a master of one element," Luna said as the Alicorn Statue began to lower down.
"Elements?" Twilight asked, raising a brow.
"The elements of creation: Electricity, Air, Water, Nature, Earth, and Fire," Celestia explained as the spot the statue was in became nothing but a dojo.
"Celestia and I, as you may have surmised, are masters of Base-Magic," Luna added as training dummies appeared on the dojo.
"Now pay attention, Twilight, and someday you will be too someday. Let's begin," Celestia said as Twilight was ready to learn how to use her magic and unleash the fury attack.
Twilight got herself ready as well as she turned to the royal sisters, ready to hear their first instructions on magic.
"Now, Twilight, you've seemed to have learned the ability to use magic on your own. Now that's very impressive and uncommon. But now let's see if you can master it," Celestia said, "Attack the training dummies, defeat them all to complete this exercise,".
Twilight nodded and looked at the training dummies on the dojo. Using her magic, Twilight was able to grab a hold of one of the dummies and tossed it away towards the other three. She managed to defeat the medium-sized dummies and the three small-sized dummies. After they were defeated, Twilight blew out the smoke from her horn and headed back to Celestia and Luna, who were very impressed.
"Very good, young Twilight Sparkle. Now this time, see if you could chase the enemies down with your magic," Luna instructed.
More dummies appeared on the dojo, these ones could move, however. Twilight shot them with her magic lasers as she chased them down and once they were weakened and slowed down, she whacked, kicked, swatted, swung, and zapped every last one of them until there were no more dummies in the dojo.
"Twilight, you have awakened our hopes again once more. But now, you must learn that there is a time and a place for everything. Your ability to use magic is useless without the senses of knowing when to use it," Celestia explained.
Twilight heads back into the dojo as a medium-sized dojo dummy appears in front of her. And with using her senses and knowing on when to attack, Twilight gave the dummy a single swipe of her horn, defeating it in a second.
"Well done, Twilight. But training is just getting started. Levitating enemies into the air allows many opportunities for continued attacks. In the air, your wings give you the advantage," Luna said, teaching Twilight about levitation.
Another medium-sized dummy appeared as Twilight focused on her magic and levitates the thing into the air where she does some more aerial strikes and spins as she then ax-kicks the dummy onto the ground.
"Whoa, I can't believe I actually won that! This is awesome!" Twilight exclaimed, doing a little prance as she heads back to Celestia and Luna.
"Nice work, Twilight. Now let's see how well you improvised your magical abilities," Celestia said, amused by Twilight's victory dance.
Six more small-sized dojo dummies appeared in the dojo and one by one, Twilight struck them with her magic and swung them away with her wings, defeating every one of them and not missing. After all the dummies were gone, Twilight heads back to the Royal Sisters.
"You did it, Twilight! Now it's time to move on to the next part of training. Let us continue," Luna said.
One medium-sized dummy appeared and ran as Twilight ran towards and quickly zapped it with her magic and whacked it. Then she levitated it into the air and gave it her best aerial combat shots she ever used and kicks back to the ground, defeated.
"That's it, Twilight! That's it! Now let's try another technique," Celestia said.
Another medium-sized dummy appeared as Twilight ran towards it and gave it a good whack with her horn, tossing it into the air. Then Twilight jumped up and gave it a nice big kick onto the ground, defeated.
"Boy, wait until I tell my folks back home about this," Twilight said.
"Conserve your energy, Twilight. And only strike when your enemy is vulnerable," Luna instructed.
A third medium-sized dojo dummy appeared and Twilight soon whacked it with her horn a few times before tossing it into the air and only striking when it's vulnerable. Seeing its vulnerable stomach, Twilight jumped into the air and kicks it onto the ground in defeat.
"Now that's the perfect way an Alicorn can do. But an off-balanced enemy can also be very useful too," Celestia stated.
Two small dummies appeared on the dojo as Twilight charged towards the first one and levitates it into the air. Then she jumped up and kicks it right towards the second one, both in defeat. Two more appeared and Twilight teleports herself behind one dummy and did the same moves before, defeating both dummies. Another two more dummies, but even they stood no chance against Twilight as she used the same technique on them, especially knocking them off balance.
Twilight managed to defeat two more dummies that were a little further apart from each other, by levitating one into the air and giving it a stronger kick towards the other. She even did the same thing with the last two small dummies.
"Now, you're ready to proceed, Twilight. Let's see if you can successfully knock an enemy back into a larger group. This could be effective in situations where you are truly outnumbered," Celestia said.
Three small dummies appeared with one medium dummy standing in front of them. Twilight cracks her neck, focuses on her magic, and ran towards the medium dummy and levitates it into the air where she jumps up and bucks it towards the three small dummies in defeat.
"You've succeeded, but you're far from done yet. Twilight, you have taken tremendous strides in your ability to harness the element of magic. But now we will teach you to manipulate it. Focus and channel your magic into a shoot of concentrated burst," Luna said.
"When you've done it correctly, the results could be explosive," Celestia finished.
Targets appeared on the dojo along with a belt of violet magic which got between Twilight and the targets. Thinking quickly, Twilight sent a swirl of magic over the belt of magic and onto each of the four targets which then have burst into pieces. After the targets were done, the belt of magic disappeared and Twilight heads back to the Royal Sister.
"Haha! We knew we had it in you, Twilight! Now let's mix it up," Luna laughed with a proud smile.
Another wall of magic appeared and behind it, some small and medium-sized dummies appeared behind it a little further away from it. Twilight jumped up and sent another swirl of magic towards them but this time, it went further until it reached some of the dummies and burst, scattering them in defeat. Then Twilight worked her bursting magic on the others, including the medium-sized dummies, as they too were defeated and the wall of magic disappears again.
"So far, so good. Now it's time for the real challenge," Celestia said.
"What's the real challenge?" Twilight asked.
"You have demonstrated the ability to control and manipulate the element of Magic, Twilight. It is clear that you have a strong kinship with magic. But now it is time you must unleash the fury of it. Fuel the magic that consumes and flows through you," Celestia explained.
"And when the time is right, release it, into the Fury Attack," Luna finished. Twilight grinned eagerly, now they were going to teach her the move from earlier.
Small dojo dummies appeared around Twilight, but when they were about to attack, Twilight quickly used her magic on them and defeated them. Three more small dummies appeared and Twilight gave them a few whacks from her horn and zapped them with her magic, defeating them in the process. Four small dummies appeared and Twilight uses her magic to zap and whacked every one of them until they too were defeated.
Then six medium-sized dummies appeared and approached Twilight. But remembering what Celestia and Luna have taught her, she fueled the magic inside her and rose up as the dummies surrounded her. And then suddenly a purple beam of magic appeared around Twilight as a ball of magical purple light appeared on the dummies and then…
BOOM!
Twilight has unleashed her first Magic Fury Attack and sent dummies all around the dojo, defeated.
"Looks like you might have a chance against Slash yet, Twilight," Celestia congratulated, being very impressed.
After all that training, the statue rises back up from the ground and back to its original position. The four then went back to the room from where they entered the temple.
