While the trio of Pokemon trainers were traveling on Route 1 towards Covolt City, Arabella and Arianne watched as Leo and his Litten stood across from a small bug Pokemon that was wearing leaves. Arianne used her Pokedex.

Sewaddle, the Sewing Pokemon. This Pokémon makes clothes for itself. It chews up leaves and sews them with sticky thread extruded from its mouth.

"Litten, use Ember!" Leo shouted.

Litten shot fire out at the Sewaddle. Sewaddle fell to the ground.

"Go Poké Ball!" Leo threw a Poké Ball at Sewaddle.

The Poké Ball shook three times before clicking, signaling that Leo caught Sewaddle.

"Gotcha!" Leo says as he picks up Sewaddle's Poké Ball. "Now all of us have two Pokemon. We're even."

Arabella laughs. "I guess. Sewaddle is quite the cutie."

"Yeah, it is. It's also going to be quite the battler."

"Impressive. Sewaddle also resists electric type attacks since it's part grass type." A man's voice says. "You're Arabella, Leo, and Arianne, right?"

Arabella, Leo, and Arianne looked to see a blonde man wearing glasses, who looked to be in his twenties.

"Yeah…" Arianne answers, confused.

"Who are you?" Arabella asks.

The man laughs. "I'm Daniel, the Covolt City gym leader. Pleased to meet you. Brooke told me to keep an eye out for you three. Let me escort you to the Pokemon Center and we can continue our conversation."

Daniel smiled as all three trainers' Pokemon were finished getting healed up. "I can bring you guys by my gym right away to get registered to have gym battles, or is there something else that you three need to do first?"

"Well…I am actually pretty hungry." Leo admits. "Can we go eat lunch first?"

Arabella rolls her eyes. "You're always hungry, Leo."

"That's not true."

Arianne laughs. "Yeah, it is, Leo. I've known you since we were toddlers. You're never not hungry."

"Whatever, Arianne."

Daniel laughs. "There's a cafe nearby that I like to eat at. Let me buy you three some lunch before we get you all registered for gym battles."

"Thank you." Leo replies. "And you mean getting us registered to beat you in a battle, Daniel."

"You're quite confident, Leo. I like that." Daniel chuckles. "But I'm a gym leader. I'm confident too. Your Sewaddle may resist my electric types, but it takes more than a type resistance to beat me. I won't be easy for you to beat."

"If you say so, Daniel."

"Alright." Daniel's secretary says. "Leo, Trainer ID: 66181; Arianne, Trainer ID: 66179; and Arabella, Trainer ID: 66180 are all registered to have consecutive gym battles here at the Covolt City Pokemon Gym against Gym Leader Daniel starting at 9 am tomorrow morning. Be here a little early tomorrow and good luck, trainers!"

"Thank you!" Arabella, Leo, and Arianne replied.

Daniel smiled at the three trainers. "I'll see you three in the morning. For now, you should probably train or take some time to enjoy the city. We don't have a lot of attractions here, but we do have a Trainer's School and a library, as well as many enjoyable restaurants. Take your time to enjoy the city. My personal preference is the library. Enjoy your evening, kids."

"We will!" Leo responds as Daniel heads towards the back of the gym.

Arabella, Leo, and Arianne exit the gym.

"Well, what are we going to do?" Arianne asks.

"I think we should start at the library." Arabella comments. "There may be a book to explain why your Sobble is afraid of battling, Arianne, and we may be able to find the solution."

"I agree." Leo adds. "To the library."

Arianne sighs. "I can't find anything about Pokemon being afraid to battle. What am I going to do?"

"We'll figure something out, Arianne." Arabella replies. "I promise."

"Yeah." Leo agrees. "Maybe we should take a break for now. We can go look at those Pokemon Mythology books that have to stay in the library. That seems cool."

The three trainers looked over towards the mythology books. The area where the books were was currently crowded by three people, two men and a woman, all wearing black and green uniforms with an S in the middle that was stylized to look like a Serperior.

"Nevermind." Arianne says. "Looks like they're taken right now."

Arabella glances over once more at the three people who have the mythology books currently. "They look pretty conspicuous, don't they? Do either of you recognize that S logo?"

"No." Leo and Arianne both reply.

"Huh? That's weird."

Arianne shrugs. "It's probably just some fancy company from like Galar or something. Let's just keep looking to see if we can find anything to help Sobble."

"Alright."

Arabella, Leo, and Arianne went back to reading books.

"Hey! You three can't take those books out of here! They're very rare and belong to Covolt City!" The librarian yells.

Arabella, Leo, and Arianne stop reading and give each other confused looks.

"Save it!" A woman replies. "We need these books, and we're taking them whether you like it or not, old lady!"

The three trainers hear something fall to the ground.

"There." Another woman with a smooth voice says. "Now, she's sedated. She shouldn't be a problem. I'm going to head out front. You three make sure the coast is clear and bring out all the books about legendary and mythical Pokemon that we need to take back to him."

"Whatever, Velvet." A man replies rudely.

"What was that, Chester?" The woman apparently named Velvet asks.

"Yes, Miss Velvet."

"Good. Meet me outside."

The three trainers exchange a concerned look as they hear the door open and shut before the three individuals start walking around.

"Guys, I think we're in trouble." Leo whispers.

"Just be quiet." Arabella whispers harshly before smacking Leo. "Maybe they won't notice us."

Arabella, Leo, and Arianne stay silent as they hear footsteps approaching them.

A large man appears in their view, and he notices them. "Becky, Eric, come here. We have a problem."

"What is it, Chester?" Becky asks as she approaches. "Oh would you look at that? There's some kids here. Why don't you scurry along, children? This is business for people who actually have Pokemon."

"We have Pokemon actually." Leo retorts as Eric also walks into their view.

"Oh do you now? You don't look old enough to be on your journeys yet."

"We're all sixteen actually."

Arabella and Arianne look at Leo angrily.

"So you're trainers?" Eric asks with a laugh. "Show us how good you are then, kids."

Chester smirks as he tosses a Poké Ball. "You kids don't stand a chance against Team Serpentine. Go, Beedrill!"

A bee Pokemon appears. Leo uses his Pokedex.

Beedrill, the Poison Bee Pokemon. It has 3 poisonous stingers on its forelegs and its tail. They are used to jab its enemy repeatedly.

Leo rolls his eyes before tossing Litten's Poké Ball. "Let's go, Litten!"

"Beedrill!" Chester shouts. "Use Poison Jab!"

"Litten!" Leo responds. "Dodge it and use Ember!"

Beedrill tries to jab Litten with its stingers, but Litten dodges and successfully uses Ember, burning Beedrill.

Chester looks angry. "Beedrill, Poison Jab again!"

"Litten!" Leo shouts. "Ember again!"

Litten uses Ember before Beedrill can hit it with Poison Jab. Beedrill faints. Both Leo and Chester have their Pokemon return to their Poké Balls.

Eric rolls his eyes as he holds a Poké Ball. "Step aside, Chester. I'll show these runts how it's done. Pidgey, battle!"

A bird Pokemon that was different from Arabella's Starly appeared. Arianne used her Pokedex.

Pidgey, the Tiny Bird Pokemon. A common sight in forests and woods. It flaps its wings at ground level to kick up blinding sand.

Arianne tossed Eevee's Poké Ball. "Eevee, time to shine!"

Eevee appeared in front of Arianne.

Eric glared at Arianne. "Pidgey, use Quick Attack!"

Arianne glared right back. "Eevee, dodge and use Quick Attack as well!"

Eevee successfully dodged Pidgey and knocked it over using Quick Attack. Pidgey stood back up.

"Pidgey!" Eric yelled. "Use Gust!"

Pidgey used Gust blowing Eevee over.

"Now use Quick Attack once more!" Eric ordered.

"Eevee!" Arianne yelled. "Use Quick Attack as well!"

Eevee outsped Pidgey and used Quick Attack first. Pidgey fainted. Pidgey and Eevee were both returned to their Poké Balls.

"Ugh." Becky says. "Why can't you two do anything right? How are you even a part of Team Serpentine? Velvet is probably starting to get impatient, and you two are getting embarrassed by children."

"What's Team Serpentine anyway?" Leo asks.

Becky glared at Leo. "Team Serpentine is none of your concern, boy. I can't believe you two were embarrassed by children!"

"Hey, that Eevee was really strong." Eric replied.

"Was the Eevee strong or is your Pidgey weak?" Becky looked at Arabella. "Is that a mega bracelet?"

Arabella nodded. "Yes."

Becky rolled her eyes. "Spoiled children getting rare items. Butterfree, let's battle!"

Becky tosses a Poké Ball and a butterfly looking Pokemon appears. Arabella uses her Pokedex.

Butterfree, the Butterfly Pokemon. In battle, it flaps its wings at high speed to release highly toxic dust into the air.

Arabella tossed out Starly's Poké Ball. "Starly, go time!"

Starly appeared in front of Arabella.

"Starly!" Arabella shouted. "Use Wing Attack!"

"Butterfree!" Becky yelled. "Dodge and use Bug Bite!"

Starly went to attack Butterfree, but Butterfree dodged and went to bite Starly.

"Now, Starly!" Arabella said.

Starly used Wing Attack on Butterfree. Butterfree fainted.

"Oh my Arceus!" Becky shouted as she returned her Butterfree to its Poké Ball. "This is not good."

Police sirens are heard outside. The door opens, and a purple haired woman wearing high heels walks in. Team Serpentine looked frightened.

"What is taking so long?" The woman asks. "The police are about to arrive! He isn't going to be happy with you three."

Arabella, Leo, and Arianne recognized her voice. This was Velvet, the one who sedated the librarian.

"Uh…" Chester starts. "We found these kids and battled them since they witnessed what happened. And well…we all lost."

"You lost? How could you lose to children?" Velvet stopped and noticed Arabella, Leo, and Arianne, mainly Arabella. "What's your name?"

"Umm…Arabella." Arabella replies.

"Where are you from?"

"Uh…Nimbus Town."

"Hmm…alright. I don't know what it is, but you seem familiar. Let's go, Becky, Chester, and Eric. You don't want to be in too much trouble with him."

"You'll be in trouble with him too, Velvet." Becky comments.

"Hold it right there." A green haired woman says as she holds up a police badge. "What is going on here?"

"These four sedated the librarian and are trying to steal the books about Pokemon Mythology." Leo replies before trying to grab the books back from Team Serpentine.

Eric shoves him back. "I don't think so, kid."

The police officer looks at Team Serpentine. "You four are coming with me."

Velvet laughs. "I don't think so. We need these books as part of something very big. Let's go, guys."

Chester throws a smoke ball, and the four criminals disappear.

The police officer looks at Arabella, Leo, and Arianne. "I'm Officer Jenny. Sorry to interrupt your day even more, but I'm going to need you three to follow me to the police station to file a report to help catch those four."

Arabella, Leo, and Arianne followed Officer Jenny out of the library.
