Chapter 15:
Why Didn't He Just Say So?
Once Twilight, Spike, and their new friends Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie had returned to the temple with Storm Heart and Voltwing, Celestia and Luna greeted Storm Heart with hugs and smiles on their faces. To them, it seems like it has been ages since they have seen each other. Twilight explained to the Princesses how the mission went and Storm Heart and Voltwing explained to them what happened throughout the years when they were apart.
Yet, Celestia and Luna couldn't help but be surprised by what their two Guardian friends have just said and told them about. Even though Voltwing was happy to see his old friends again too, Celestia knows there's still no time to waste and decided to get back on the subject.
"Yes, yes, Voltwing it's nice to see you and Storm Heart too. But we mustn't waste our time talking. Back to Slash," Celestia reminded the Electric Stallion.
"Celestia's right. Now he was doing what to you two?" Luna asked the two rescued Guardians.
"Didn't even know Slash was a Stallion," Spike commented in a whisper to Twilight as she rolled her eyes.
"Oh, it's hard to be absolutely sure, you two. But it seems to me that he was using us as some sort of suspended, organic power sources." Voltwing explained.
"What?" Spike scratched his head.
"He means that Slash was using them as a living battery…," Twilight simplified to Spike.
"Why didn't he just say that?" Spike asked.
"He did," Rainbow retorted.
"Not only that. He also left with two glowing yellow and gray orbs. And I think Voltwing and I somehow powered them with our magic," Storm Heart recalled.
"Celestia, you think this means any concern to you?" Storm Heart asked, turning to Celestia.
"Perhaps, Storm Heart, perhaps…" Celestia said as a theory began forming in her head but she pushed it aside for the time being, "What I do know is that we must find and free the other four guardians before Slash could power any more of those orbs,".
"You're right, Celestia. We were too late for you and Voltwing, Storm Heart. But we might be able to free the others before Slash could succeed," Luna said in agreement.
"I agree with you Luna," Storm Heart nodded.
"As do I. But first Storm Heart and I would like to make some useful knowledge to Twilight," Voltwing started before turning to Twilight, "Vis-à-vis her recently-acquired electricity and aerial-based horn-exhalation device,".
"What?" Spike asked again.
"Oh, he's saying that he and Storm Heart would like to teach me some things about that Electricity and Wind Magic…," Twilight explained.
"Oi, Why didn't he just say so?!" Spike groaned, rubbing his hands against his eyes.
"He did," Pinkie retorted as she looked at Spike with a dull expression, "Honestly Spike, you're pretty slow on the uptake,".
