Chapter 2
As Fubuki and the others launched and headed out to Kongou's last known location. They start to see plumes of smoke, as they get closer they start to see what looks like abyssal planes circling around. "Did they run into an abyssal carrier group," Jintsuu asks? "Looks like it," Sendai responds, "and we don't have any carriers right now, crap." "I head on in and draw their fire away from the others, get ready to blast them with AA fire," Fubuki shouts, speeding off ahead of the others. "Fubuki wait," Mutsuki shouts. "I'll be okay," Fubuki says to Mutsuki, "just focus on shooting down those planes when they come for me."
As Fubuki arrived at the scene of the battle, she saw that everyone was damaged, including everyone from the AL task force who she guessed had rejoined the others after they split up. "Buki you're here," Kongou said while trying to fire at a group of abyssal ships, "jolly good that you're here, I need you to help take care of the abyssal planes so I can deal with these ships." "Got it," Fubuki said, aiming her gun at one of the planes and opened fire, hitting and damaging it. She fired again, destroying it, and suddenly some of the other planes started getting into an attack formation before charging at her. She aimed at the center plane and just as she was about to fire, the plane to the far right was destroyed. Quickly turning, Fubuki noticed that Yuudachi, although damaged, had fired the shot, "need some help poi," she asked? "Sure, help me draw the enemy planes away, the others will help shoot them down," Fubuki said, opening fire and destroying the center plane. "Now, let's go," Fubuki shouts speeding away while opening fire and destroying the remaining abyssals in the formation, as Yuudachi followed, the rest of the abyssal planes immediately followed them. As the skies above Kongou and the others cleared up, Haruna cheered, "She did it, she drew them away."
"Bloody brilliant work Buki, alright Haruna let's pump these scum full of shells, everyone else focus on the destroyers," Kongou ordered.
"Right behind you sis," Haruna said now aiming her guns at the approaching abyssal ships.
As Fubuki and Yuudachi continued to move away from the fleet in a zig-zig to avoid bombs and gunfire, Yuudachi asks, "Who else came with you?" Just then, ten explosions appeared in the sky, shooting down several abyssal planes. "They came with me," Fubuki said, pointing at Jintsuu, Sendai, Naka, and Mutsuki heading towards them. "You guys ok," Jinstuu asks? "Be thankful this isn't night time, otherwise you'd all be at the bottom of the sea," shouted Sendaii. As the others joined, they were able to shoot down most of the attacking planes. "Alright the skies are clear let's go help the others against the abyssal counterattack fleet," Fubuki said.
When the reunited torpedo squad three joined Kongou and the others, only then that they see the abyssal fleet attacking them. Looking further, Fubuki could count 6 destroyers, 2 torpedo cruisers, and 3 heavy cruisers. "Hey Kongou, those pesky planes are taken care of, need some help with those ships," Fubuki asked? "I'd appreciate it Buki," responded Kongou. Fubuki readies her weapon and aims at one of the torpedo cruisers and fires, but both of her shots are misses. Not paying much attention to that, Fubuki reloads and fires again, but another miss on both shots. "What is going on," Fubuki wondered frustratedly? As the others open fire and score hits, she puts her frustration aside and prepares to rejoin her comrades. She aims at an abyssal destroyer and fires but misses. As the battle continues, none of Fubuki's shots seem to hit any enemies. Her increasing amount of misses causes her to become even more frustrated after each shot.
After a few of the abyssal ships were sunk, the rest of them immediately began to retreat. "Look, the abyssals are retreating," shouts Kongou! "Let's head back to the naval district to repair and rest," she orders. As everyone heads back relieved, Fubuki's frustration only continues to grow, "why couldn't I hit any of them," she chastises herself.
"Hey don't be so hard on yourself Buki," Kongou says, "if you didn't come when you did, I don't think all of us would be coming back in one piece."
"But still it feels like I could've done more," Fubuki says bitterly.
As they arrive back at the naval district, Kongou leads those who were damaged to the docks, as Mutsuki and the others wish them well Fubuki leaves them heading to headquarters. "Wait Fubuki where are you going," Mutsuki asks? "I need to speak to secretaryship Nagato since mobile unit five is suspended I don't know what fleet I'll be assigned to," Fubuki responds. "And Sendaii, to answer your question, Operation MI failed, the abyssals somehow outwitted us at every turn," She said, Sendaii appearing unsettled at hearing the news.
