Chapter 5

As Fubuki woke up, she still couldn't believe that she was in the same fleet as Akagi. Looking at Yuudachi, who was still asleep, she couldn't help but remember saying that she would "die of happiness" if this ever happened to Mutsuki and Yuudachi back when they were together in torpedo squadron three. "Hey Yuudachi, rise and shine," she said, slightly shaking Yuudachi to wake her up.

"Poi," Yuudachi asked, droopy-eyed and tired?

"Come on we have to meet with Mutsuki and head off to class," Fubuki said as she was getting changed into her uniform.

"Oh right," Yuudachi said, yawning before grabbing her uniform.

"By the way," Yuudachi said, "don't you usually go running first Fubuki?"

"Not today," Fubuki said, "I went out for a walk last night and ran back here so I'm good."

"Ok," Yuudachi said surprised, "so that's why she wasn't here when I arrived last night," she thought.

"How did things go with Naka last night?" Fubuki asked?

Yuudachi blushed, "uh things went okay I guess."

"What happened?" Fubuki asked, smirking somewhat.

"I'll tell you at a later time," Yuudachi said sheepishly.

As they both finished changing and getting ready they left for Mamiya's cafe to meet with Mutsuki.

When they arrive, they see Mutsuki enjoying a parfait, "hey Mutsuki," Fubuki calls out.

"Hi, Fubuki, Yuudachi," Mutsuki calls back waving.

As they sit down and order parfaits, Mutsuki finishes her spoon and asks, "so I heard you got assigned to carrier group one Fubuki?"

"Yeah, I still can't believe I'm in the same fleet as Akagi," Fubuki says before eating some of her parfaits blushing.

As they're eating a voice behind them calls out, "hi Yuudachi," before Naka suddenly appears hugging Yuudachi from behind.

Yuudachi coughed slightly before swallowing. "Naka, not now, you could've made me choke on my food," she said trying to quietly clear her throat.

"Then I'll just give you the hypnic," Naka replied cheerfully.

Fubuki couldn't help but chuckle at the sight before her, "awe, you two look cute together."

"I see Fubuki has good taste," Naka said, causing Yuudachi to blush even harder.

"Wait, you two got together," Mutsuki asked curiously, "when?"

"Last night," Yuudachi said, "she confessed to me outside here," she added, pointing to the clear area outside the cafe entrance.

"You should've seen her face when I finally confessed my feelings for her," Naka said chuckling, "she blushed so hard her face was the same color as her eyes," she said, nuzzling her face with Yuudachi.

"I almost passed out from shock, you know, poi," Yuudachi said.

"You sure it was shock," Naka asked, "all I saw was excitement on your face."

Yuudachi slumped over the table to hide her embarrassment letting out a slight "poi". After they managed to finish their parfaits, they headed out to the class. Just as they exited Naka called out, "bye Yuudachi," before cupping her hands into a heart over her chest. Yuudachi just gave a nervous smile and waved bye before quickly turning away blushing hard again.

After class ended, they decided to head to the shine. As they were walking, they saw Ooi and Kitakami. It seemed like Ooi was upset about something and Kitakami was trying to chase after her.

"Where's Fubuki?" Ooi demanded.

"Ooi, how many times do I have to tell you it wasn't her fault?" Kitakami called out to Ooi, but she didn't listen.

As Ooi saw Fubuki she walked over intently towards her. "I've been needing to ask you something, special type destroyer," Ooi said snarlingly.

"I don't think you should stay to hear what she has to say," Exatior said to Fubuki, "I know that tone all too well."

Fubuki turned to run, but Ooi had already caught up to her, "you know, I've always had doubts about this potential that everyone sees in you, and that last battle just confirmed that you were just remodeled and not only did you fail your duty to Akagi but you also failed your duty to the fleet…"

Before Ooi could continue ranting Mutsuki cut her off, "Ooi, how could you be so vile and filled with hate, especially against a comrade as helpful and inspiring as Fubuki!"

"Mutsuki's right," Yuudachi added, "I've known Fubuki ever since she first arrived here. She has been the most reliable friend and comrade I've ever known and she always makes sure to give nothing but her best during battle!"

Ooi scoffed, "you're only saying that because she's your friend."

Fubuki gritted her teeth, but this wasn't just the frustration she was feeling but a stronger darker emotion. Finally, she couldn't take the banter between her friends and Ooi, "Ooi for once in your life will you just shut your mouth!"

Everyone seemed shocked at what just happened, but Fubuki wasn't done, "and since you're so quick to point out my failings during the last battle, what all did you do, where were you when Kitakami was being chased and attacked by abyssals, because from what I saw you were only looking obsessively and give Kitakami a shoulder to cry on. Honestly, your attitude especially towards me is annoying, but I think your obsession with Kitakami is the worst. I sometimes wonder if you care more about winning Kitakami rather than winning the war." After Fubuki finishes ranting, she snaps out of it and sees how shocked everyone around her is, after which she hangs her head down and walks off.

"What was that?" Ooi said, shocked and slightly blushing.

"I've never seen Fubuki act like this before, I don't think I've ever seen her get angry," Yuudachi said.

"I don't know what's going on in her mind but I hope she's okay," Mutsuki said, walking off to find Fubuki, joined shortly by Yuudachi.
