Chapter 9

As Fubuki continued on to her destination, she tried to think of how Exatior could assist in the fight against the abyssals. Does he know of other fleet girls that would be willing to ally with the naval district? Does he have superpowers that could erase the abyssals? All she could do was wonder. When she could see the island where the base princess once stood in the moonlight, she felt a sense of nostalgia about her first fight. But she also remembered how horrible she was during that fight. How she felt after that battle was almost exactly how she felt after MI despite the weeks of training and combat experience she had. It all seemed like it was all coming full circle.

As she finally came to a stop just a few feet away from the island, she called out in her mind so as to not attract any unwanted attention. "Exatior, I'm here, show yourself, what kind of an offer were you going to present to me?" All she heard was the sound of the sea. As time passed, she started to feel down, thinking, "maybe I have gone crazy. I listened to a voice in my head, and now I abandoned those who were the best things that I've known, I'm sorry Akagi," as she was on the verge to cry.

Just then she noticed a dark mist begin to converge on the island. The mist then started to form a black sphere, even blacker than the night sky. Then the sphere began to change, it transformed into what looked like a humanoid figure but head was noticeably larger. As the form before her began to stabilize, what Fubuki only assumed to be hair began to grow long and merge together into long pointed spine-like spikes that curved downward. Also, the being's ears moved up to the top sides of the head and expanded upwards, looking almost like fox ears. Fubuki stared in awe at what was happening before her, then the being's eyes opened, they were just black, but then two small red dots appeared. As they moved around and looked straight into Fubuki's realizing they must be the pupils, she suddenly began to feel a sense of dread from them. It was as if she truly was coming face to face with a powerful being, perhaps a being from another world or another state of existence. After she managed to look away from its eyes, she noticed the being's color had changed from black to a dark blue, or what she perceived as blue in the moonlit night.
