The Blue Typhoon was being pursued by several Metarex Fighters.
"They're going to attack again! They're aiming straight for us!" Cream said on the bridge.
"We have to work fast. Amy, you and Shadow disperse the missiles, then launch a counterattack." Tails said typing.
"Roger." Amy said. "Cosmo, take over for me." she told Cosmo.
"Sure." Cosmo said and took his place as he ran off.
In the Hangar Amy ran up to Shadow and panted.
"What?" Shadow asked.
Soon, Amy's spaceship was moving up the elevator to the runway and Shadow was standing on the wing.
"Okay, Shadow, here's the plan. Looks like the Metarex are about to launch another attack. We've gotta fend them off as fast as we can and give them a dose of their own medicine." Amysaid.
"Sounds good." Shadow said.
In space the Metarex Fighters fired missiles at the Typhoon, but it ejected tiny star shaped particles, moons, and planets. They burst in clouds of smoke when the missiles collide with them, allowing the ship to get away.
In the Blue Typhoon bridge.
"I've got a bad feeling, Cosmo." Cream said.
"Me too. These Metarex attacks seem to get more and more violent every time." Cosmo said.
"But it's more than that. I just can't figure it out." Cream said and tapped console.
In space Amy's spaceship moved forward.
"Take off!" she said.
Suddenly the Typhoon was hit by something.
On the bridge.
"Hey! What was that?!" Tails asked.
"I don't know! There's nothing on the radar!" Cream said.
In space the impact was caused by Zelkova, who was clinging to the bottom of the ship. He sparked from the effort.
"Your time is up, my friends!" he said and laughed.
On the Blue Typhoon engine room Knuckles saw Zelkova on the holo-screen.
"The abyss is waiting for you!" Zelkova said.
"Oh no! Not him again!" Knuckles said.
In space Zelkova was using rocket thrusters to stay aloft.
"Farewell!" he said and used his brute strength to throw the entire Typhoon toward a planet below.
The sudden movement threw Amy's ship off the runway. It too hurdled toward the planet.
"Pressure's dropping by the second!" Tails said to himself.
It was difficult, but he managed to level out the craft, even when it descended into the cloudy atmosphere of the rocky planet. The Typhoon sparked all over. It had a rough even landing on the ground. There was a nearby volcano and lava river. The Typhoon had landed on a nearby cliff.
On the Blue Typhoon bridge.
"I feel sick to my tummy..." Cream said.
"Chao chao..." Cheese said.
"That crash disconnected our energy servers. It looks like we're stranded, you guys." Tails said typing.
On the lava planet Zelkova landed in front of the ship, and flexed his bionic muscles, sparking as he did.
"I see you're together again!" he said and his eye gleamed. "Prepare to meet your doom! Prepare to perish! Prepare to succumb to the evil that is Yellow Zelkova!" he said. "Prepare to... Prepare to..." he said and faltered.
In the Blue Typhoon Engine room.
Knuckles was puzzled at Zelkova's riddle.
On the bridge.
"Prepare to battle?" Cream said confused.
"I don't know. "Battle" seems kinda weak, doesn't it?" Tails said.
On the lava planet.
"Enough! This is no guessing game! This is the moment of your demise!" Zelkova said frustrated, and punched the ship, rattling the crew. "Where is the hedgehog?" he said and prepared to punch the ship again.
"Here I am!" someone said and he saw Shadow and Amy flying out from inside a smoky cloud.
The Typhoon crew were happy to see that they survived.
"It's Shadow!" Cream said as Amy flew Shadow toward Zelkova.
"Almost there. Ready?" Amy said.
Shadow nodded and a ring materialized in his hand, and he spun toward Zelkova.
"Illuma-Shield!" Zelkova said and projected an energy barrier that deflected his attack.
Shadow landed back on Amy's craft.
"Shadow, what happened?" she said.
"I'm not sure." Shadow said.
Zelkova formed a ball of energy in his hands, and arced it toward him.
On the Blue Typhoon bridge.
"That's the same thing that happened when Eggman put up his star shield!" Tails said.
"Maybe it's made from the same stuff." Amy said.
On the lava planet.
"You are correct, little one! I, Yellow, Zelkova, am fortunate enough to be equipped with one of the very first of the brand-new Dr. Eggman Illuma-Shield power packs!" Zelkova said and threw off his cape, revealing a device on his back. "And that's not all. As a bonus, I also received this Eggman temporary tattoo!" he said and held up a sticker.
On the Blue Typhoon bridge Cream freaked out over Zelkova's bragging.
"You geek! You have an Eggman tattoo?! Loser!" she said as Tails and Cosmo tried to calm her down.
"Don't, Cream; you'll make him angry." Cosmo said.
"Cosmo's right. Settle down!" Tails said.
"I will not settle down! That big yellow hunk of junk is gonna be sorry he ever met me!" Cream said and shook in fury.
On the lava planet.
"Hunk of junk?! How dare you mock the great Yellow Zelkova! I'll make you pay for that!"
Knuckles confronted him.
"Well, we meet again." he said and Zelkova lunged toward him, fist ready.
"Perhaps this time, I will finish you off!" he said and Knuckles countered Zelkova's fist with his own.
"I'd like to see you try!" he said and there were at a stalemate. "Aw, come on. You're tougher than that, aren't you? Aren't you gonna use your spankin'-new shield on me?"
Amy's jet snuck up behind Zelkova.
"We might be able to knock Zelkova out with a Ring Tunnel. Right now, anything's worth a try! Ring Tunnel!" he said and fired a line of rings at Zelkova.
"Let's go!" Shadow said and leapt through the rings, but Zelkova's plasma shield emitted energy that threw both Shadow and Knuckles backward, shocking the Typhoon crew.
"Illuma-Shock!" Zelkova said and shocked Shadow into the air, along with Amy's spaceship.
On the Blue Typhoon bridge.
"Shadow!" Amy said.
"Oh no!" Cream said.
On the lava planet a bruised Knuckles picked himself up.
"Oh yeah?" he said surrounded with the plasma shield again.
"Haha! You porcupine pipsqueak! You will never beat me! With my Illuma-Shield power pack, I am virtually unstoppable!" Zelkova said.
"You big wimp! Gotta reply on some stupid shield." Knuckles said and extended his fist to Zelkova in challenge. "Too afraid to fight me with your own two fists, huh? You're nothin' but a big baby!"
"What did you say?"
"We'll see if that shield helps you now! Get ready, pal."
On forest planet Rouge and Sonic were flying toward a glow atop a particularly tall tree.
"Sonic... what is this place?" Rouge asked and Sonic leapt off of her craft and started to scale the tree before stopping.
There was forest as far as the eye can see. Rouge floated up next to her.
"I've heard of treehouses before, but tree planets? Never." she said.
"Everything's so quiet here." Sonic said.
"I'd say quiet is an understatement. More like creepy." she said seeing nothing but trees. "I don't like it." she said on voiceover.
"Me neither. It's cold, too."
They saw a bright glow directly above them.
"What could that be?"
"Don't know. Too bright to be a star."
On the lava planet Knuckles charged toward Zelkova, but his plasma shield threw him back again. Zelkova ran to Knuckles and crushed him under his foot. Cream was on her spaceships fired missiles at Zelkova, only to have them blocked by the shield. Amy and Cream were surprised.
"You foolish meddlers! Your missiles are mere play toys compared to my awesome power!" Zelkova said.
In the Blue Typhoon bridge.
"Oh no!" Cosmo said.
"We have to keep trying, Cosmo. We'll get through!" Tails said.
"Yeah."
Tails pulled up a layout of Zelkova.
"In order to penetrate a shield that powerful, we're going to have to harness a great deal of energy. Of course, I'm not sure where we'll get the extra energy from." he said.
The lava planet.
Zelkova charged toward Knuckles and slammed both his fists on him.
The Blue Typhoon - Bridge.
"Knuckles! No!" they said together.
On the lava planet Knuckles struggled to lift Zelkova's fists.
Then he stood up while still keeping Zelkova at bay.
"You'd think with a fist like that, you could actually do some damage. You might wanna spend less time on Illuma-Shields and more on the upper body strength!" he said.
"I grow weary of your mocking, you little red fool!" Zelkova said and grabbed Knuckles and swung the him around. "Take that!"
Then he threw him away. Knuckles was speeding toward the lava, meaning instant death, but he thought fast and anchored his spiked glove into the cliff. He now dangled above the magma.
After a look down at the lava, he rapidly climbed the wall. Meanwhile, more rockets were fired at Zelkova, not damaging him. He walked over and placed his hands on the Typhoon.
"Now you will all meet your fiery end!" he said and pushed the ship closer and closer to the edge of the cliff.
Knuckles reached the top of the cliff.
"Not so fast, yellow belly!" he said and leapt toward Zelkova.
Meanwhile, Amy was flying through the stormy sky. Shadow saw that he was covering his face.
"We have to get down there fast!" he said and Amy removed her hand.
"You're right. Hang on tight. ... Oh no!" Chris said.
Suddenly a group of Metarex Fighters appeared behind him.
"Oh yes."
"Another Metarex fleet!"
"Persistent, aren't they?"
They fired at Amy, forcing him to do a loop to avoid them.
"Let's do it!" Shadow said then spun toward the Fighters.
Suddenly Amy's craft was struck by lightning, and it descended through the storm clouds. The Fighters were also struck, and were destroyed. Shadow landed back onto the craft.
"That was light." he said.
"Yeah, I'll say. I can't believe how those lightning bolts had such perfect aim!" Amy said.
Knuckles leapt toward Zelkova and tried to punch his face in. As expected, there was no damage.
"You are giving me a headache. Cease your pummeling!" Zelkova said and raised his fist.
Knuckles leapt off of him as he accidentally punched his own face and Knuckles landed on the ground.
"I'm not done!" he said and tried to attack Zelkova again, but the Metarex general fired plasma out of the green orb on its head, shocking him back.
He beard down on Knuckles, but he leapt onto his leg and punched it repeatedly.
"You are in for a shock, my tiny friend!" Zelkova said and tried to shake Knuckles off, but to no effect.
Knuckles even refused to let go when being shocked by plasma.
"Gaahh! Some shock! Is that all you got, pal?" he said and continued to punch him but did nothing.
He tried his hardest and punched Zelkova's knee with all his might. It was so strong that not only was Zelkova finally dented, but the spikes on Knuckles' right hand broke off. He cried out in pain. Zelkova bent down, injured by the mighty blow.
"You think you're clever, don't you?!" he said and Knuckles landed in front of him.
"What, you mean you haven't figured that out already?" he said and Cream's spaceships flew overhead.
"It's Knuckles! He's still fighting him!" she said. "I better get out of here while he's not looking!" she said and fled.
Zelkova stood up.
"You cannot fool me!" he said and charged his hands, and fired plasma so strong that it electrocutes Knuckles and the two spaceships into the air.
It even zapped Cosmo and Tails inside the Typhoon.
On the Blue Typhoon.
"I'll use Zelkova's energy against him to break through that Illuma-Shield!" Tails said.
"Blue Typhoon, do you read me?" Amy asked over the radio.
"He's okay!"
On the lava planet Amy's ship descended from the clouds with Shadow on the wing.
"All right!" Cream, Cosmo and Tails said as Shadow leapt onto Amy's nearby craft.
"Hey, Sonic!" Amy said.
"Looks like Knuckles might need some assistance." he said.
Zelkova saw the crafts flying around.
"What now? Will nothing deter these puny meddlers?" he said and Knuckles tried to punch his hand, but it shocked him away.
"Hey! Up here!" Shadow said and turned around to see Amy's ship flying toward him.
Shadow had a coil of cable so leapt toward Zelkova.
"You still have not learned, have you, hedgehog? Illuma-Shield!" Zelkova said and deployed his electric body shield shocking Sonic backward.
But this was part of the plan. He landed on Cream's ship.
"We gotcha!" Cream said.
"Chao chao!" Cheese said and flew loops around Zelkova, and Shadow unwound the cable around Zelkova.
It soon formed a ring around him.
Outside the Typhoon, Tails set up a pole.
"Okay!" Tails said.
Cosmo was also standing on the very front of the Typhoon's deck.
"Cosmo!" Tails said.
"Shadow!" Cosmo said and waved a beacon.
Shadow saw it and leapt back to Amy's ship.
"Here goes!" he said and threw his end of the cable down to the ground.
"What is this? What's going on here?" Zelkova said.
"Don't you worry your little head, Zelkova! You just sight tight!" Knuckles said.
Shadow leapt up to the storm clouds, stimulating them. Then he spun down to the planet's surface, with the lightning right behind him. Then spun down to the pole that had been set up. The lightning struck the pole, then traveled down through the cable. The plasma shield was set up again, but the lightning overpowered the shield and destroyed it. Zelkova cried out.
"Yeah!" Amy said.
"We did it, Shadow!" Cream said and Shadow landed on her spaceship.
Zelkova collapsed to his knees, his armor crumbling.
"What... what is happening to me?" he said as the rest of his armor collapsed to reveal a breaking new development.
Amy, Knuckles, Tails, and Cosmo stared in shock. Zelkova was not a robot. There was a creature underneath the armor. Pieces of machinery flew everywhere.
Zelkova screamed and broke free of the rest of his armor and stared down Knuckles.
He lunged toward him, but was punched backward easily by him.
Another hefty punch sent Zelkova a little too close to the edge of the cliff. The ground broke underneath him, and he started to grapple the cliff feebly as he fell to his impending doom.
"Dark Oak will be victorious! He will have revenge!" he said and sunk beneath the magma, never to be seen again.
Knuckles turned away and closed his eyes in grief.
Meanwhile, the rest of the Typhoon crew were shocked at this latest development.
"He thought he was indestructible." Chris said.
Meanwhile Eggman, Decoe, and Bocoe were analyzing data and Eggman removed a chip from a computer.
"Interesting. After having researched their data, I have discovered the Metarex' plan to." he said.
"Ixnay, Doctor." Decoe whispered.
Pale Bayleaf entered the room.
"Doctor Eggman, is there something I can help you with?" he asked and Eggman hid the chip behind his back.
"Oh, not at all, my friend! I was just admiring your up-to-the-minute gadgetry. I really must commend you on your technological wherewithal!" he said.
"The doctor is taking rather copious notes." Bocoe said.
"Uh, so that he can build one... just like it!" Decoe said and Bayleaf turned around.
"Zelkova's been destroyed."
"What's that?" Eggman asked.
"It seems your so-called Illuma-Shield was of no use to him in the end."
"Well, it didn't come with a warranty."
Chuckling, Bayleaf left the room. Decoe and Bocoe looked at Eggman in curiosity.
On the forest planet Sonic and Rouge reached the top of the tree there was a Chaos Emerald up there.
"That looks pretty interesting." Rouge said.
"Let's see here." Sonic said then took the Chaos Emerald and crushed it in her hand, letting its pieces fall to the forest below. "I knew it. It's a fake."
"Why would there be a fake Chaos Emerald in the middle of nowhere? How weird."
After a moment, they heard a groan in the forest below. They leapt down there, and were horrified at what they see.
"What?!" Rouge said.
It was Leon. His clothes were torn, and a tree was growing into him.
"Sonic, it's that Leon guy from the resistance." she said and his eyes slowly opened.
"Tell us what happened." Sonic said.
"Metarex... they fooled us all... They told us... that we could be one of them... but they lied... Ungh... Destroying us all... already happening..." Leon said as the tree's roots grew further into him.
Sonic couldn't bear to watch.
"Sonic..." Rouge said.
"My pocket... Look inside..." Leon said and Sonic removed a device from Leon's left pocket.
"What is it?" she asked.
"You must stop them... It's... not too late..." Leon said and died.
As Sonic inspected the device, it was revealed that the rest of the Cascadian resistance force were also one with the trees.
