There was a plant in the ground nearby. Shadow ran by it and stopped atop a nearby cliff. He took in the mountains, the lakes, the forests.
At Angel Island all the Master Emerald shards were in the center of the altar and Knuckles stood before them.
"The Master Emerald should return to its normal state once its power is restored." Knuckles said. "It helped save the galaxy, so it needs time to heal." he said to himself and sat on one of the steps. "Now let's kick back and take it easy." he said and crossed his legs and linked his hands behind his head. "We deserve a rest too."
Meanwhile the Crimson Egg was parked at the beach. Rouge stood in front of Sonic's empty stasis chamber.
"This is unexpected." someone said and she saw Eggman in the doorway. "You're worried about Sonic, aren't you?"
"Of course not. I don't give a hoot what happened to that hedgehog."
Eggman stood there.
"Is that so? Well, I'm not at all concerned about Sonic. She was apparently designed to be one of the ultimate creature by my grandfather's brother, Dr. Robotnik, who was also almost a greater genius as me." he said while Rouge left the room.
"So, where do you think she is?" she asked.
Eggman cocked a brow and they stared at each other for a while.
"He knows something..." she said to herself.
"Well Rouge, it's time for me to bust a move." he said and shut the door. "I'm gonna scrap this ship soon. I suggest you find new living arrangements." he said and they split up.
Meanwhile Tails had a workshop set up at another part of the beach working on the X-Tornado. Amy and Cream arrived.
Vector was storming after Charmy for painting on him is shown.
A drawing of Cream was shown. Knuckles resting next to the shattered Master Emerald. Rouge flew nearby.
Amy, Cream, Cheese, and Tails enjoy the food.
Shadow was running like the wind then had a flashback while he ran.
Super Shadow and Super Sonic destroyed Final Mova and Cosmo. Amy and Cream cried their eyes out as the others stared in shock.
"Oh no! Cosmo!" Cream said.
"Cosmo!" Tails said grieved.
As cracks form in Final Mova, Lucas opened his eyes.
"Earthia was right. My thirst for power destroyed my people, and brought nothing but pain and suffering to the galaxy." spirit of Lucas said ad a bright light appears in front of him.
"Lucas." someone said and he looked up to see the spirit of Earthia. "It is over now. The galaxy is saved."
"Earthia. I feared I'd never see you again."
"We have a second chance now, Lucas. The time has come for all creatures to live in peace, including you and me." she said and extended her hand to him, and he took it.
He became like her, white and glowing and they faded away together.
Meanwhile, everyone couldn't peel their eyes away. Amy, Cream, and Cheese cried uncontrollably; they had known Cosmo the best out of everyone. The screen fades to white as Final Mova was destroyed. The spirit of Cosmo appeared.
"Thank you all for your friendship ... Before I met you, I didn't believe in myself. My clan was wiped out by the Metarex. I felt like I was helpless and couldn't do anything to stop them. But because of you, I learned that I didn't have to stand by and watch the Metarex take over." she said and her eyes opened. "I could do my part to fight back, and help restore my clan." she said as a single petal fell off of one of her roses. "I just wanted you to know that I'm happy now because I fulfilled my destiny."
On the Blue Typhoon second bridge.
"Remember, I will always be with you." she said voiceover.
Tails sat alone on the floor, his namesakes curled around him, grieving his loss.
"Don't be sad, Tails." she said and he looked up to see Cosmo. "Whenever you miss me, just look for me right here beside you." she said and bent down to him and kissed him as he fades.
In a space flashback during the heat of the explosion...
"Goodbye, Cosmo..." Super Shadow said to himself then he and Super Sonic used one of their moves.
"Chaos…" Super Sonic started.
"Control!" they said together using Chaos Control and Cosmo shed a few tears.
"The seeds of my clan will spread through the galaxy and find places to grow. I'm at peace. Now... goodbye." spirit Cosmo said.
On the Crimson Egg.
"No! No! The Planet Egg is about to release its power! We have to get out of here! Activate Emergency Egg Drive!" Eggman said.
"It is impossible to go into warp space." Decoe said.
"Nothing on this ship is working, including the engines." Bocoe said.
"We don't have power, remember?" Bokkun said.
"Oh yeah, I forgot." Eggman said. "It slipped my master mind." he said and they laughed.
Back in space.
"If the Planet Egg lets out all its energy, the others won't have enough time to get away. I have to move! CHAOS-" Super Shadow started but suddenly Super Sonic punched him in the stomach. "Hold on, Sonic!" he said but collapsed and fell toward the light as Super Sonic removed her necklace.
"Sorry, friend, but I'm taking over. After all, we wouldn't want you to hurt yourself, now would we?" she said smiling a little. "Chaos Control!" she said and Final Mova was Chaos Controlled away.
On the Blue Typhoon.
"Hey... what just happened?" Vector asked.
"Where's Sonic?" Charmy asked.
On the Crimson Egg.
"Sonic..." Eggman said to himself.
Something shone in the distance.
"Whoa, is that a star?" Bokkun asked on the voice cover.
"I do not think so, but what is it, Dr. Eggman?" Decoe on the voice cover
"I'm not sure, but it appears that Sonic has stopped time in that spot." Eggman said on the voice cover.
"What do you think happened to Sonic?" Bocoe asked on the voice cover
"Who knows. She just made a risky move, and unfortunately it may have been her last. After all the years of fighting I'm not surprised."
There was silence. Even the robots were mourning.
On the Blue Typhoon.
"She used Chaos Control." Knuckles said.
"It must have taken all the energy that she had left." Rouge said. "Like he said though, she fought for years so I'm not surprised."
"Sonic..."
In space Tails walked outside and looked at the bright, sun-like glow. Shadow appeared behind him. He turned around.
"Shadow?" Tails said.
As Shadow approached, he backed away a little bit.
"Uh, Shadow... I know you're mad at me, but I..." he started then Shadow took his hand and placed a small object in it and one of Sonic's limiters.
"Here, Tails. Sorry. I looked for Cosmo and Sonic but this was all I found." he said.
"A seed and one of her limiters?" Tails said and teared up again and cried into Shadow's shoulder and he didn't move. "Oh, Shadow... Why did this have to happen? It's... just not fair! Now I'll never see them again!" he said and gently thumps Shadow's shoulder with his fist in his anger and sorrow.
Shadow was also grieved, but he hid it.
"She was... she was my friend and even though she stayed on earth Sonic was my sister! I miss them! They can't be gone!" Tails and utterly breaks down.
Then there was a meteor shower akin to the one that happened when Cosmo first arrived.
"It's amazing!" Bokkun said on the voice cover.
"Those are all Planet Eggs!" Decoe said on the voice over.
"There must be thousands, or millions of them!" Bocoe said on the voice over.
On the Crimson Egg.
"But... where are they going to?" Bokkun asked.
"They are all returning home, to the planets they came from. ... Quick, take a picture of me with them!" Eggman said.
"Impossible!" Decoe said.
"The camera batteries are completely drained." Bocoe said.
"You even used the batteries to help Shadow?" Bokkun said.
"We were told to send all power to the Blue Typhoon.
"Yeah, we just followed orders." Decoe said.
"Pinheads!" Bokkun said.
"That's why I hate acting with amateurs!" Bocoe said over the voice over.
"You still have much to learn! You don't know how to get deep into character." Decoe said over the voice over.

"Quit bickering and get to work restoring power to the Egg Drive!" Eggman said.
"Right away, Doctor!" Decoe, Bocoe and Bokkun said.

"I guess so." Chris said and sat down next to Knuckles. "Since it looks like I'm gonna be staying here and Sonic isn't here anymore I'm wondering how I could go about building myself a house."
"Huh? What do you mean how? You just go ahead and build it."
"You make it sound so easy, but it's not so simple. There's a lot to think about, like where would I build it?"
"What do you mean where? There's tons of land all around you. Just pick a spot."
What if that spot belongs to someone else?"
"In our world, it's first come, first served." he said and laughed, but became serious again. "Hm? Hey, you're not planning on building one here?"
"Well, I've figured around these old ruins was about as good a place as any. It's kinda pretty, you know?"
"Sure, it's pretty. You go right ahead and build. It's just lucky your good friend Knuckles didn't have this spot picked out for his place."
Chris laughed.
"Yeah, lucky."
"That was a hint, kid."
"Hey Knuckles, I'm really happy for all you guys, being home and all."
"Yeah... It sure is nice."

"I guess you do deserve a little vacation after saving the galaxy. This was the first time we'd really taken it easy since I had transported myself here."
Amy, Cream, Cheese, and Tails enjoy the food.
"It seemed like a long time has passed since I left the lab, almost like it was dream. We had a lot of fun during those days, but I couldn't stop thinking of my family and friends I left back in my own world, and none of us would have forgot the brave friend we lost during our final fight with Dark Oak. If Sonic hadn't disappeared I'd already be home."

Later in Mobius Chris was walking alone.
"Hey Chris! I got something for ya!" someone said so he looked up to see Bokkun flying toward him.
"If it's from Eggman, I don't want it." Chris said when he landed.
"How'd ya know? I think this is my most explosive delivery ever. You'll get a real bang out of it." he said and pulled an envelope from his bag, "Here!" he said while Chris hid behind a tree, expecting a television bomb. "Come on out here!"
"No way!" Chris said.
"But Chris, I promise it's not a trick. Dr. Eggman's sending you a present."
"Really?" Chris said surprised.
On a hill Shadow was thinking underneath a tree on a hill. Suddenly he heard Cosmo's voice in the air.
"Shadow. Send a message to all of my wonderful friend. Tell them I'm alright. I am with my mother. We have found a new home filled with peace and tranquility. Harmony reigns here, and we are as one with nature. Tell them all that they are noble and good and that because of them darkness has be vanquished. Tell Tails to look at the trees and the sky. That is where I will be." spirit Cosmo said.
"I'll tell him." he said and stood up. "I want you to know Cosmo," he said. "it was sure great having you around.
As he took off running, the spirit of Dark Oak laughed.
"Goodbye, Shadow... Goodbye..." spirit Cosmo said.
Elsewhere Chris reached a hill, and saw Eggman in his Eggmobile, Decoe, Bocoe, and Bokkun. There was also a rocket.
"What's this all about, Eggman?" Chris asked and held up the envelope.
"It's exactly what I wrote there. I assume that you read it, didn't you?" Eggman said.
"Sure. It says it's a one-way ticket home."
"Never underestimate the superiority of Dr. Eggman's intellect."
"He gave his brain cells a real workout this time!" Bokkun said.
"Uh... You mean this ship?" Chris said while he looked at the rocket.
"Yes. It will instantly transport you back to your own world." Bocoe said.
"This will be its first and only voyage." Eggman said.
"So pack your stuff and let's blast off!" they said.
"There's only enough power in its engines for one trip. After that the machine will be useless. But it should be adequate to return you to your world."
"I can't believe you went through all this trouble just for me, doctor." Chris said.
Eggman chuckled.
"Don't thank me yet, kid. Once you learn the full story, you may not want to go." he said.
"Huh?"
"I'm absolutely certain it will return you to your planet, but I have no idea how old your body will be when you get there."
"I have confidence in you, Doctor. I'll take that chance."
"But you only have a three minute window."
"That isn't much time, Doctor!" Decoe said.
Chris took his seat in the capsule.
"Can you make it three days so we can throw him a goodbye party?" Decoe asked.
"Impossible! The quantum alignment that makes travel possible between our worlds will only last for three more minutes! This is the only time when travel can occur. After that Chris would be stuck here." Eggman said as Chris is buckled in.
"Can I return?" Chris asked.
"It's difficult to say. I'm not sure the alignment will reoccur. It could be a week, or not for ten thousand years!"
"You mean the fact that I was able to travel here was just a fluke and I may not be able to come back?"
"It would appear so. The universe has its own separate cycles. No matter how advanced our technology is, we can't change that."
"I see. So, then, I guess this is goodbye, Doctor."
Eggman held up a remote.
"You have been a terrific ally and worthy enemy. Good luck." he said and Eggman pressed the button, and the hatch closed.
"You could stay here with us, you know! I'm sure Dr. Eggman would offer you a job if you asked him. We could always use good help around here!" Bokkun said and Chris smiled, trying to hold back tears as the hatch closed.
"Take care, Chris!" Decoe said.
"Say hello to your family for us." Bocoe said.
The thrusters ignite, and the capsule lifted into the air.
"Alright, then! I'll go tell Shadow and the rest of your pals you had a smile when you left here! Are you sure you wanna go? That's too bad. We just got to be friends." Bokkun said but the capsule was already high in the air. "Goodbye!" he said crying.
The capsule rotated so that it flew straight instead of up. Chris looked out the window.
"I wish I didn't have to rush off like this... I hope the others don't get mad at me..." Chris said to himself and started crying.
"I'm sure gonna miss that kid." Knuckles said in his head.
"Me too." Amy said in his head.
"He didn't even say goodbye!" Cream said in his head.
"Chao!" Cheese said in his head.
"I'm sure he wanted to, but maybe he didn't have enough time!" Tails said in his head.
"Goodbye, everybody... Goodbye..." Chris said and looked down at the path below him.
He caught sight of Shadow running alongside the capsule and he started crying uncontrollably, knowing he can never see his best friend again unless he builds another machine to Mobius and Sonic giving herself up for them.
"Goodbye... Shadow..." he said.
It seemed as though time slowed down as the capsule sped up.
"Shadow..." Chris said to himself.
Then, in a flash, the capsule vanished.
Shadow watched from a cliff. Once the capsule was gone, Eggman laughed.
"Now that Shadow's team is down by one little annoying pipsqueak, I can get back to building the Eggman Empire!" Eggman said.
"All right!" Decoe, Bocoe and Bokkun said together.
"Eggman better not touch the Master Emerald!" Knuckles said.
"I have to go warn Shadow." Amy said with her eyes twinkling.
Shadow continued watching the ocean from the cliff.
"Come on Cheese, our friends need our help!" Cream said.
"Chao!" Cheese said.
"I guess I'll join in, too. This team could use a little glamour." Rouge said.
Tails climbed into the X-Tornado.
"Time to rev up the X-Tornado, you guys!" he said smiling.
Shadow turned around.
"Life never stays slow around here for long! Watch out, Eggman! I'm coming at ya full speed!" he said.
Chapter 14 I'm home
Soon Chris was home and saw Lindsey, Nelson, Chuck, Helen, Frances and Danny standing there.
"Mom? Dad? Grandpa?" he said and they looked up.
"CHRIS!" they all said.
Then they held him close.
"Are you OK?" Nelson asked.
"Yeah." Chris said.
"Where's Sonic?" Helen asked.
"Where is she? Commander won't be happy is he doesn't come back." Danny said.
Chris said nothing.
"Chris?" Chuck said and Chris looked at them.
"She, it was a Super Sonic and Super Shadow fight and she gave herself up like the biolizard but didn't come back this time." he said.
They stood there in shock.
"What?!" someone said getting them to jump and turn around to see Towers.
"Commander!" they all said.
"What happened to agent Sonic?"
"She gave herself up to save us all and now she's gone." Chris said.
"How? She's the Ultimate Lifeform and was back last time!"
"I don't know. She's been fighting and saving us for years so she must've used all she has left."
They stood there quietly knowing he was right.
"If she were to come back she would've been back by now." Chris said and they nodded and stood there quietly again. "And I think she actually forgot this time."
"WHAT?!" they all said.
"She was working with Eggman like last time and didn't act like she did. She acted like she really forgot. She even tried to attack me."
They looked at him in shock.
"I didn't think she'd forget something like this." Towers said. "Last time she did that we made her."
"Do you think she's really gone Chuck?" Helen asked.
"I don't know Helen, I don't know." Chuck said shaking his head.
"I better go tell the president." Towers said and left.
While he left the others went inside.
A few minutes later Towers was in the president's office.
"Mr. President, I have some good news and bad news." Towers said.
"Good first bad last." the president said.
"The good news is Chris Thorndyke is back."
"Excellent!"
"The bad news is agent Sonic didn't come back. Chris said that she gave her life to them and after saving the world for so long she didn't make it this time."
The president sat there in shock then nodded.
"OK." he said. "You can go."
Towers nodded and left.
A week later everyone in Station Square was having a funeral for Sonic.
"After all the times agent Sonic has saved us it turns out she's done everything she has left from the fight." the president said. "Thank you for all the times you saved us over the years."
After the funeral everyone went home.
It was going to be hard for everyone now that Sonic is gone.
Some don't believe she's gone while others do.
Chris, Chuck, Lindsey, Nelson, Helen, Francis and Danny were the most upset but were happy she was finally free.
