Summary: Yamato's problem isn't quite like Takeru's – probably worse. Companion to The Woes of a Copy Editor, drabble 17 in The Adventures of Takeru and Daisuke.

A/N: As I have stated in Flutter and Dribble, I am so obsessed with Yamasuke right now. I've even gone back and started editing The Boys of Summer. Enjoy!

How was Yamato going to do this? He couldn't, he just couldn't. He was insane to even be thinking about it.

"The worst you could get is a no, Yama."

Somehow, Taichi's words were anything but comforting.

Sora was even less helpful. After going "awww" for three minutes, she finally said, "Just say, 'Hey, you're cute. Go with me to Homecoming.'"

Jyou suggested he ask for help in a subject and write a message inside the notebook for that class's notes. The boy scowled when Yamato declared this as way too geeky.

Rejection was Yamato's main concern. The awkwardness that would be sure to follow afterwards, even if the other said yes, was just awful.

Takeru's advice pushed him a little forward. "Tell him, 'You wanna go to Homecoming with me?' And if he gives you a weird look, just quickly say, 'As friends.' Then you're saved, but you still have a date."

Yes, he was going to do this. He could do this. He could, really. Daisuke's coming. He could, he could.

"Yamato, you wanna go with me? To Homecoming?"

What?

The burgundy-brunette faltered. "As friends, that is."

Stupid Takeru, recycling advice.

"No."

Daisuke's face fell.

"I want to go as you and me, as potentially more than friends."

Daisuke's face lit up. Yamato's heart did the same.
