It was exactly 6:59 at the Maple Inn and all was peaceful. Everyone slept soundly and quietly through the. night. It was when the clock struck 7:00 that two girls opened their eyes so quick, you'd think they were waiting just for this moment.
'Valentines Day.' Both thought at the same time. 'This is the day I'll make Kouta see...'
Elsewhere, Tucker wakes up. "Today's the day. The romance day! Where chicks will lay down with anyone in the name of romance!" He exclaims.
"I, Uh, I don't Uh, t-think that right, no." Caboose says.
"Caboose, shut up. You don't know anything about women." Tucker retorts.
"I know they like unicorns and the colour pink." Caboose says back.
"My point exactly." Tucker says.
"Glad we can agree on something than." Caboose replies.
"Yeah, whatever. See you after the day." With that, Tucker leaves his room.
Meanwhile, Kouta has woken up, shivering. "I just got a chill down my spine for some reason." He says to himself. Brushing it off as nothing, he readies himself for the day.
Both Yuka and Kaede open their doors at the same exact time. Seeing each other, they both send a death glare at the other until Kouta opens his door.
"Good morning Kouta! Would you like me to make you breakfast?" The girls day at the same time.
"How about all three of us make breakfast." Kouta suggests with a smile on his face.
"Sure." Both of them say, keeping their disappointment opens his door just in time to see the trio off.
"Lucky bastard." Tucker mutters. "Doesn't even try and he's got two chicks trying to get into his pants. I gotta find out how he does it sometime." With that, Tucker follows by Caboose joins them for breakfast.
Eventually, the reds also joined in on the meal Kouta, Yuka, and Kaede made together, thus everyone sat down and enjoyed the meal as if they were one big (dango) family.
"So... anyone got plans for today? I hear it is a special day after all." Sarge asks everyone present.
"Yeah! I'm taking Kouta out today." Both Yuka and Kaede say at the same time.
"Hey! I'm taking Kouta out today, I called dibs." Yuka exclaims.
"You can't call dibs on Kouta! That's ridiculous." Kaede retorts.
"Um, girls..." Kouta tries.
"Yeah I can. Dibs. See? I just did it." Yuka says.
"She's got you there Kaede." Grif says.
"Hmph. Now you finally learn about the dibs protocol private Grif." Sarge grumbles.
"Uh, girls..." Kouta tries again.
"See. Kouta's coming with me today." Yuka triumphantly declares.
"You can call dibs on an object or turn or something, hell, you can even call dibs on a spaceship!" Kaede starts. "But you can't call dibs on a person."
"She's right. I tried once. It didn't work out." Tucker says.
"Point is, Kouta's coming with me!" Kaede affirms.
"Uh, girls, what is it you wanted to do with me?" Kouta asks.
"I wanted to go on a nice walk with you!" Both simultaneously exclaim.
"Uh... why can't we just all go?" Kouta asks.
'Lucky and dense.' Tucker thinks regarding Kouta.
"Dude, do you have any idea what day it is?" Grif asks Kouta.
"Hmm lets see..." Kouta says to himself. "Its Monday, right?"
"I think he's looking for something else." Simmons says.
"This is gonna get us no where. Kouta, come with me." Tucker says. Leaving the table. Kouta is confused, but follows him nonetheless.
"Kouta is spending Valentines day with me!" Kaede hisses.
"No. He loves me more. He'll definitely spend it with me." Yuka says.
"Oh boy, looks like we got a cat fight." Sarge says.
"Oof. Those are nasty." Donut adds.
"Isn't there someway to settle this argument peacefully?" Washington asks, not wanting a fight to break out.
"Through sportsman ship?" Caboose asks.
"What?"
"No, he's right. In anime, sportsman ship is an effective way to settle arguments." Simmons says.
"Need I remind you Caboose is the one that came up with this idea." Grif says.
"Yeah I know." Simmons says. "Since Elfen Lied is an anime, it works."
"Yeah! And since Red vs Blue is also an anime, it'll double work!" Donut exclaims.
"Wha- no its not!" Simmons exclaims.
"Then how come I always find it in the anime section in stores?" Donut asks.
"Apparently retail workers are just complete idiots." Sarge says "Maybe you should get a job there, Grif. You'd fit right in." Grifs only response is to flip him off.
"Find. Whatever challenge these idiots can whip up, I will best you at it!" Yuka confidently declares.
"Hey! Who are you calling idiots?" Caboose genuinely asks.
"Bring it! Miss Yuka, I'm gonna kick your fucking ass!" Kaede declares.
"Great. A screaming match is first up." Washington says with irritation, quietly getting up to go else where.
"Dude, please don't tell me your not blind to whats so obvious, the people reading this fic will groan if you say what you're about to say." Tucker says.
"Tucker! Thats my thing!" Caboose shouts.
"Caboose! Shut the fuck up!" Tucker yells back.
"You mean the fact that its Valentines day and both Yuka and Kaede clearly wanna take me out for some quality time with just them?" Kouta answers.
"Of coarse- wait what?" Tucker does a double take. "You actually understand the situation perfectly?!"
"Yeah..." Kouta says. "The truth is, I think I might have feelings for both Yuka and Kaede. I don't know which one to pick and I don't want to hurt the other one when I pick."
"Dude, you've been given an opportunity that few men are given." Tucker starts. "Just accept both of em! Who doesn't want two women in bed!"
"Wha-! I can't do that!" Kouta exclaims.
"Fine. I'm sure we'll figure something out." Tucker replies.
About an hour later, the Reds and Blue had finished setting up their various challenges.
"Greetings one and all!" Donut exclaims.
"Just skip to what's going on." Grif groans.
"Okie dokie. You two will be competing in a series of trials, starting off relatively easy and getting harder as they go along." Donut tells Kaede and Yuka.
"What are we doing first?" Kaede asks.
"CTR." Grif says.
"What?" Yuka asks.
"A game of Crash Team racing is up first." Simmons says. "And before you ask, this is game is more skill based than Mario kart and we wanna make It more interesting."
"And the author plays that game too." Caboose adds.
"Huh?" Simmons asks.
"Yeah, whatever he said." Grif agrees with Caboose. "Just get it started already."
"Okay. Here's what I've come up with." Tucker says.
"What is it?" Kouta asks.
"You make em cookies." Tucker says.
"Uh... How is that going to help?" Kouta asks.
"Well, see you make the girls some cookies but deliberately screw things up and make them taste God awful. Then you hand them to Kaede and Yuka and who ever lies through their teeth about how good your cooking is is the woman for you." Tucker confidently explains.
"That does not sound like a good plan. In a way, I kinda find that a slight abuse of trust and honesty." Kouta says.
"You wanna have the girls rip you apart to see which one of them you'll choose. Heck, maybe we can literally cut you in half so they can both be happy." Tucker goes on.
"Fine." Kouta sighs. "We'll do the cookie plan, but if anyone asks, I was against it."
"Well, this is entertaining." Grif muses.
"Lets recap whats happened so far." Sarge says. "Kaede beat Yuka 10 times over at CTR."
"Suck it." Kaede says to her opponent.
"Followed by Yuka somehow edging out a victory through the obstacle coarse." Sarge continues.
"I guess you're so used to using your vectors, you're helpless without them." Yuka taunts,
"Permission to use a vector to give Yuka a wedgie?" Kaede asks.
"Permission denied. You still can't use your vectors for any reason." Sarge says. "Yuka once again beat Kaede at the questions and answers setting. They were then evened out by Kaede winning the talent contest."
"Bring on the next challenge!" Kaede screams.
"Kouta will be mine!" Yuka also screams.
"And Church will be mine!" Caboose yells. Everyone looks to him. "What. Isn't that what we're all doing?"
"Lets see how our contestants do during the evening wear competition." Sarge continues.
"You are going down!" Yuka screams to her opponent.
"Like hell!" Kaede screams back.
"Oh boy. This is so exciting." Donut squeals.
"Anyone else getting a weird sense of déjà vu?" Grif asks to no one is particular.
Meanwhile, Doc and Nozomi sat together on the beach over looking the ocean.
"This is nice." Nozomi comments.
"Yeah. Seems we're always spending the holiday together now." Doc says. "I like it. I've always had to spend holidays alone. Now I have you."
"It's the same for me. Sure I had my father, but it's not the same." Nozomi adds.
"Oh. I'm glad I can be here for you then." Doc says, looking to his female companion.
"Y-yeah. And me with you." Nozomi looks to the purple soldier. "Y-you know, I never get to see you with that helmet off."
"Oh, this? I have it on so often I forget I'm wearing it most of the time." Doc admits before taking it off, exposing his short black hair and allowing Nozomi to peer into his deep brown eyes.
"That's better." Nozomi smiles.
"Yeah. Really feeling the wind on your face beats ventilation anytime." Doc agrees.
Silence...
"So... is there something you wanted to do? I'm open to anything." Doc says.
"Oh... um... I was, Uh, just going to ask you that." Nozomi admits.
"We don't have to do anything. We can just stay here all day if that's alright." Doc says.
"Y-yeah. I never get tired of your company. W-when you're gone, I actually sorely miss it." Nozomi admits. Unknown to even the two, they were gradually getting closer to the other during their conversation until finally they share a kiss. After a moment of this, Nozomi pulls back, red in the face and unable to look at Doc.
"S-s-Sorry!" She exclaims.
"Oh, Uh, yeah. Sorry if I made you uncomfortable." Doc apologizes
"N-no. It w-was actually really n-n-nice." Nozomi stutters.
"Oh... did you maybe want to..." Doc starts.
"Try it again?" Nozomi suggests.
Both Kaede and Yuka collapse in the Maple Inns doorway.
"Damn. That was exhausting." Yuka wheezes.
"And anticlimactic." Kaede adds.
"Guess I should have seen that coming." Grif says as he trudges around the two.
"Did we really have to let it end in a tie like that?" Simmons asks.
"Unfortunately. And here I thought pranking director Kakuzawa would have been effective challenge that would determine who wins." Sarge sighs.
"Oh well. At least it was fun." Donut happily says. "Hey, what time is it?"
"Can't tell. Mines just a count down till the next episode of Attack on Titan. Priority's, dude." Grif says.
"Oh, it's about 7:00 pm. How were we out so long." Simmons says.
"Shit. We missed supper." And with that, the orange soldier rushed (if you can even call it that) into the kitchen. Meanwhile, both Kaede and Yuka groan in response to this.
"We wasted the whole day." Kaede moans.
"And not with Kouta." Yuka adds.
"Oh good. You already made cookies." They hear Grif say from the kitchen.
"No Grif! He didn't make em for you! Take a hint." Tucker yells.
"Uh, we have leftovers in the fridge." Kouta offers.
"Eh." Grif says. After that both Tucker and Kouta came out, the latter with a tray of cookies.
"You two look exhausted. Are you okay?" Kouta asks the two girls.
"I'll live." Kaede supplies as she slowly gets up.
"I'll be fine." Yuka follows her.
"I, um, made these for you two." He says, presenting the tray. The two are quick to grab a cookie and try them.
"Mm. It's great Kouta." Yuka says.
"Y-yeah. Some of the best stuff I've had." Kaede agrees, taking another one. Yuka follows suit. The two eat until all the cookies are gone.
"So, it really was good?" Kouta questions.
"Yeah. It was good." Kaede says.
"You're so good at baking Kouta." Yuka adds. "Well, I'm going to turn in for the night."
"Yeah, me too." Kaede says and with that, the two of them leave.
"But Tucker said they tasted awful." Kouta says. "Those two will go to all lengths just to get me."
Tucker comes into the room, having watched the whole thing. "Guess I didn't count on both of them pretending to like it." He sighs.
"Kinda obvious flaw in hindsight." Kouta says. "This didn't help me at all."
"Well, hey, isn't Valentine's Day always find itself to be a miserable day?" Tucker questions.
"I guess you're right." Kouta agrees. "Hey, weren't you gonna go and strike out with whatever woman you find on the street today?"
"... aw fuckberries."
AN: So not only is this the Valentines special, but its also the one year anniversary of this story. I never noticed I posted this story on the same time as Valentines day! Like Grif, I don't have my clock set right and focus on when the next episode of a show I like is coming out, lol! Anyway, please tell me what you think of this special as well as any ideas for the Easter special. 1 year and I still don't know how to do that one...
