"Turkey day?" Our favorite pinkette asked, eyebrows raised as she stares at the date surrounded in large red circles on the calendar. Turning her head to the side with the look in her eyes reminiscent of a kitten, "Da heck's a turkey day? Or a turkey?"
The day was rather slow, in her opinion at least. So, considering that she hasn't been to earth in a while, and she hasn't seen her favorite human in the meantime...well. A visit was in order, now wasn't it? "Hey Steven! What's a turkey?" She calls out, using her hands to morph her digits into a megaphone, pointing up to the indoor garden dome.
While she did hear Steven reply, it was rather faint. So with a hum, she quickly begins to bounce up to Steven. Stretching and humming in the meantime, as the chilly wind blows against her face. With Spinel answering with scrunched eyes and a tongue out as she shivers. "Whew, that's cold!"
As Spinel enters the greenhouse, Steven pats his hands together. Rubbing away some dirt from the yellow rubber gloves he has on and wiping it against his green apron as he smiles at the gem. "Heya Spinel! You were asking about turkeys?" The pink gem gives a hasty nod, "And Turkey Day."
Steven raises an eyebrow and chuckles in amusement, pulling his gloves off and placing them next to the Maidenhair ferns. "And Turkey day. Well, a turkey is a bird. They're bigger than chickens, with big tail feathers that fan out, and a little thing on their throats that hang down." He supplies, giving his best description about the fowl. Descriptions are rather hard after all.
"Turkey day, is just another word for Thanksgiving."
Spinel gives a confused sound, eyebrows furrowed as she blinks. "Thanks...giving? Is that like Christmas?" She asks. If Thanksgiving was like Christmas, did that mean there was going to be more gift giving and hot cocoa? She's like that!
Steven shakes his head and pulls off the green gardening apron, hanging it on a hook by the wall of Ivy and yellow Tulips. "Something like it, it's where friends and family gather with each other, have good food and have good times. Being thankful for each other and giving them thanks for being in our lives."
Spinel's hair twitches up and down a bit. A large smile on her face, "Really? That sounds amazing! Can I visit during Thanksgiving? Can I, Can I?" She begs as she slinks over, grabbing Steven's hands in hers as she hops up and down on her feet.
He laughs, the gem's energy much too easy to be caught up in. "Sure, no problem! I'd be happy to have you be a part of it!"
Steven also couldn't help but notice just how lively Spinel was becoming these past few months. He can remember not too long ago, she was like a scared kitten, as if always on the edge of tears and wanting little else but to be close to the things that are the most familiar to her. Namely, himself.
She was healing, and Steven couldn't be any prouder for it. Especially since he was the one that was helping Spinel down on her path of self love. As such, he couldn't help but reach out and pet the top of the shorter gem's head. Who seemingly trills from the affection. Yeah, definitely like a cat. Adorable.
Though as soon as he moves to pull his hand away, Spinel simply stretches so that contact is never lost. With a raised eyebrow, he asks the gem, "Do you just want me to keep petting you until you're satisfied?"
She responds with a huff, a pout, and a nod. In that order. "I would like that, yes." And so with another laugh, Steven just settles himself to his fate. Though, he'll have to admit, it feels nice to do so. Spinel's hair was surprisingly soft, and it was very easy to move his fingers through.
However, the biggest reason why he doesn't seem to mind doing this for Spinel, was, well.
Because it was Spinel he was doing this for.
