The House on Maple Street
The Schmidt family were a strange bunch; they lived in a big house on Maple Street. You could always hear noises from their side of the street and the house could always be seen with its attic lights on.
The Schmidt kids were always teased at school for their long pointed faces tinged with green. Mr and Mrs Schmidt were always avoided when they went out.
One day the Schmidt children were walking to school when they were suddenly encircled by a group of kids riding their bikes. One of the kids said, "Look at them they look like aliens and I wouldn't be surprised if they really were aliens." All the kids laughed except the Schmidt's. The youngest Schmidt kid screwed up his face in anger but his older sister said to let it go. The kids on the bikes went away.
When the Schmidt children arrived at home that afternoon they told their parents what had happened. Mr Schmidt was very angry. "Why can't people accept us here?" he said. Mrs Schmidt patted him gently on the arm. "If this happens again I'm afraid we have to move back home", sighed Mr Schmidt. Then he went up to the attic for a very long time.
A couple of days later it was the parents' turn for humiliation. Mr and Mrs Schmidt were out shopping and while they were in an aisle that sold dairy products an antennae shot up from the middle of Mr Schmidt's head. People around them were shocked then they laughed; Mr and Mrs Schmidt left their trolley where it was and rushed out of the shop.
When they arrives home Mr Schmidt said, "That is the final straw, I've had enough. When the kids get home we're leaving this awful planet." "Ok if that's what you want we'll leave," Mrs Schmidt said softly.
A couple of minutes later the Schmidt children arrived and they were told to go to the attic and wait. Mr and Mrs Schmidt arrived in the attic a little while later. This attic however was not like a normal attic; it wasn't cluttered with old junk, no, this attic had metal walls and in the middle of the room was a panel with buttons all over the top and floating in mid air was a ball that was made of silvery light that could always be seen across the street by the neighbours. Mr Schmidt pressed a big white button that made everyone who knew them, everyone who had seen them forget about the Schmidt's. Mr Schmidt pressed another button but it was red this time and it was the biggest of them all; the ball of light began spinning very fast it seemed to generate the whole house. It was a perfect lift off for the Schmidt's, they took off straight up high in the sky and they were never heard of again.
The End
