"Really, you're the lucky one Ed." Edward heard as he came to. Ed looked around noticing he was strapped into something. That's when Alphons came up from the side. The other man put a finger to his mouth and made a shushing noise.

"What is this?" The confused blond asked.

"I've set everything up so that you can go back home." The blue-eyes blond said. "You can take this second rocket when Eckhart isn't looking. Ya ready?" He asked with a serious look on his face.

"Right in the fake arm, good thing she's a bad shot." Alphons said humorlessly before moving on. "Our rockets peak at about 2 km/s that should be enough speed to punch through the pressure, and get out safe." The other said looking up at the gate. He had a sort of sad look on his face that Ed didn't quite understand, and yet he was smiling. He looked back to Edward while saying "That's Haushoffer's theory anyway. This one-seater shouldn't have any problem.

"Wait a minute. I never said I wanted to go!" Edward exclaimed quietly. There was no smile left on Alphons' face it was just filled with barely concealed sadness.

"I'm not giving you a choice Ed." He said lightly with another smile.

"'Cause I'm in the way?" He said quietly. "You're tryin' to get rid of me." He accused softly with a look of sadness in his own eyes now.

Alphons shook his head closing his eyes for a second. When his eyes opened again the sadness was no longer hidden and there for the whole world to see. "We're real Edward. We're not just parts of your dream like you thought." His eyes closed again and his voice was shaking a little. Edward gasped and a look of surprise filled his face. "I care and make mistakes." Alphons gave a slightly visible pained smile. As he spoke again his face became the look of true sadness. "I may not be here much longer, but I'll still be here." And he smiled again. He place his hand on Edward's gloved hand. "Just don't forget me." he said as he went to shut the cockpit. Edward was in shock.

"Wait what do you mean!" Edward asked quickly getting over his shock fast.

"I love you Ed. All I want right now is for you to be happy." He then shut the cock pit completely and ran off the side of the advanced biplane. He ran over to the launch command area and put his hand on the lever.

"Wait! Alphonse, wait!" The lighter blond pulled the lever and the biplane was lifted perpendicular to the ground. "ALPHONS! Damn it!" Ed exclaimed as the jets kicked in. He tried to pull his seatbelt off, but the jets started lifting the biplane off the ground.

A guard came up and saw the biplane and tried shooting it down. Alphons smiled for a second before he was shot himself. He fell to the ground in a heap the words 'I love you' still on his lips.
