It had been an interesting day at school for Izuku, the class had learned of his intention to apply to UA, and while no one doubted his quirks potential they all felt it was too random for a top tier hero school. Nonetheless Izuku was confident in his ability to succeed and was on his way home to study when he arrived at a familiar underpass.
'What an awful smell.' Izuku thinks as he steps into the shady pedestrian tunnel.
In the next moment Izuku learned the ancient lesson to always trust your nose as a disgusting villain slithered out of a manhole and approached him rapidly.
"Ah, a medium sized invisibility cloak." The slime says eagerly before attacking.
The slime had unfortunately sprung his trap too soon and Izuku was able to retreat.
'No time to wait for an audience!' Izuku panics as he raises his arms to the sky as he flees.
"Perfect!" Izuku says happily as he climbs into the tank and seals the hatch.
"What the? Where did a tank come from?" The villain asks as he comes to a halt directly in front of the machine. "Oh well, it can't be real, it looks like what a child would draw."
Of course with that comment the souls of tank enthusiasts the world over rolled in their graves and Izuku could no longer contemplate holding back.
"Cyka Blyat!" Izuku shouts as he fires the main cannon directly at the sludge villain.
The resulting explosion would have destroyed any underpass in the prequirk era, fragments of the mighty 152 mm shell embedded themselves into the walls and ceiling as the separated pieces of the villain splattered into the tank.
"That's what you get for insulting the KV-..." Izuku begins to shout as he exits the top hatch.
"I am here!" A familiar voice shouts as he exits the manhole at great velocity.
"..."
"..."
"Can I have your autograph?" Izuku asks nervously.
"Young man, I think you have some explaining to do." All Might say sternly as he surveys the scene.
"He tried to eat me." Izuku says, subtly moving the turret towards All Might, just in case.
"I'll believe you for now, if only to avoid having to deal with one of those shells." All Might says pragmatically.
"Deal." Izuku says quickly.
"Now, are you going to explain where this tank came from, and what it is. I'm afraid I have never seen such a thing with the self defense force." All Might asks.
"Of course, this is the Kliment Voroshilov Two, armed with a modified M-10 152 mm howitzer, it is the finest self propelled gun ever created. A truly flawless machine, that definitely could traverse its turret on non-level ground and never rolled over on its own. In fact it was so capable it had to be replaced after a year in production because it was simply unsporting." Izuku said as seriously as he could.
"Right." All Might said awkwardly. "And where did you get it?"
"My quirk of course, I get one random tank every day. I plan to be a hero, I'll save everyone while villains are crushed under the treads of victory!" Izuku explains cheerfully.
"I'll trade you my autograph for your contact information so I can get the police to follow up later." All Might says, starting to panic about the time this had taken.
"Deal." Izuku says immediately, and he quickly writes his information on a spare piece of paper before handing his notebook and the page to All Might.
"Thank you young Midoriya, expect the police to visit your home tonight! Until then I must get back to work, justice waits for no man!" All Might shouts before gathering the villain in the blink of an eye and jumping away.
"No one's going to believe this." Izuku says before taking out his phone. 'Might as well take advantage of such a good roll.' he thinks before pulling out his speakers and searching for the perfect music.
"The national anthem of the former Soviet Union has an ad! This is an insult to communism!" Izuku shouts before slowly driving off with the anthem blaring.
Death Arms day had taken a turn for the worse, a powerful sludge villain had taken a kid hostage and was causing a lot of collateral damage. He honestly believed it couldn't get worse until the road began shaking and the sound of metal tracks came from down the road. Soon after the sound of an unknown song in another language could be heard and a tank of all things came around the corner. Some of the citizens began panicking while the local shopkeepers tried to calm them down for some reason.
"That's not a villain, that's just one of the local kids' quirks!" An old lady in an apron shouts.
"Not you again!" The sludge villain shouts before waving his hostage in front of himself. "You can't shoot me again! You'll kill this kid!"
Unfortunately for the sludge villain, he had taken the worst possible hostage. As the local bully Bakugo wasn't well liked by Izuku, but everyone knew his quirk and Izuku knew of his resistance to his own quirk. So without hesitation, Izuku turned his turret towards the villain, aimed near the wall and fired.
"What!" The villain shouts along with the responding heroes.
Izuku responds by playing the anthem even louder and shouting, "In former Solviet Union there is no such thing as hostage, only collateral damage."
"DEKU!" Bakugo shouts at the top of his lungs as he jumps to his feet in a rage.
"The kid is fine?" The crowd asks.
"Did you think some half assed explosion would kill me!?" Bakugo shouts and the crowd mostly agrees that they did think so.
"Did you know he would be fine?" Death Arms asks.
"I knew he was explosion resistant." Izuku answers honestly.
"You still should have left this to the pros." Death Arms lectures.
"Not a chance, that sludge wanker insulted my tank!" Izuku shouts passionately. "This is the best roll I've ever gotten in a crisis! It saved my life, and he had the gall to insult it's appearance! Called it a child's drawing of a tank!"
The majority of the crowd actually agreed with the villain, the gun was too short, the turret too big and boxy and the whole thing was too tall. But they were smart enough to keep their mouths shut. Bakugo on the other hand...
"What kind of tank even is that! It looks ridiculous!" Bakugo shouts.
"How dare you!" Izuku responds, genuinely insulted.
Noticing the turret turning towards the recently rescued student, Death Arms jumps onto the tank and holds back the turret's rotation. "Calm down kid!" he shouts.
All Might, from his position in the crowd didn't know if he should be shocked by this kid's actions or impressed. He had taken action to save his friend? Classmate? Associate without hesitation, but he had a bit of a temper, and what was clearly one of the strangest quirks out there. He settled with just calling his friend in the police force and walking away quietly.
AN: the KV-2 is just one of those tanks that needs to be in something like this (gibthegrey suggested it, but I was planning for this all along.) And it has to have a chance to fire its gun, otherwise it's rather pathetic with just its rear facing machine gun. Like a real tank fan Izuku loves the KV-2, normal people on the other hand...
As an answer to a review, I am relatively knowledgeable about tanks, there are few tanks built before 1950 that I won't know by name, but I do double check all facts as I go, partially as inspiration and partially to make sure other tank media hasn't corrupted my knowledge.
