"Alright Midoriya, for your training you are going to practice driving through the forest, we've set up a trail and we expect you to improve your time by the end of the week." Pixie-Bob instructs.
"That's literally useless since I can't control what tank I get." Izuku argues.
"No complaining!" Pixie-Bob shouts before walking off. 'Crap, I really should have read his quirk documents ahead of time.' She thinks while putting on an aloof face.
With a sigh Izuku raises his arms in the air to see what he would be training with today.
"Oh hell no!" Izuku shouts, drawing the attention of both classes as he stares at a very small and very strange vehicle.
"It's very flat." Ochako comments.
"Get to work." Aizawa says with a glare.
"I'm not driving that all day." Izuku complains. "I'll be sick in no time."
"I'm already sick." Ochako says as she enters her training ball.
"Deal with it." Aizawa says increasing the intensity of his glare.
"Fine." Izuku says before opening the small hatches on top and crawling in. 'If they're making me drive this, I'm giving them a bad time.' he thinks before driving off.
"Where is Midoriya?" Aizawa asks after an hour of training.
"Did he get stuck?" Mandalay wonders.
"Unlikely." Aizawa says.
"Then he might be lost, I'll ask Pixie-Bob to look for him." Mandalay says.
But before she could do that a set of bushes behind them russels and a machine gun turret appears rising slowly.
"What is that?" Mandalay asks as Aizawa groans.
"Midoriya, get back to training." Aizawa orders, but the turret shakes indicating a negative response before sliding into the bush. After a moment more rustling and some engine noise indicate Izuku's departure.
Ochako is resting on top of the training ball when she hears the familiar sound of a vision slit opening directly behind her. She turns and jumps when she sees Izuku's head less than arms length away.
"What's up?" Izuku asks casually.
"What even is this tank!?" Ochako shouts in shock.
"It's the Praying Mantis, a proposed version of the universal carrier for sneaking around hedges and walls." Izuku explains while moving the body up and down.
Ochako took a moment to examine the vehicle as she considered the strange role. It used the simple suspension of the universal carrier, but instead of an open passenger area, the whole body was a long rectangular box with a small machine gun turret placed on the front. The whole assembly seemed to tilt upward from the rear to a truly extreme angle that left the machine several meters taller.
"How do you even fit in there?" Ochako asks.
"I have to lie down head first. It's terrible when driving since I'm basically going face first into danger." Izuku says irritably.
"You complained about nausea? Is it really that bad?" Ochako asks.
"It's terrible, that's one of the reasons it was rejected at trials." Izuku whines.
"You know, I'm supposed to be training to get used to nausea, but this ball is awfully lonely." Ochako says with a devious smirk.
"Get in." Izuku says with his own smirk.
"Look at those 1-A schmucks sweating so hard over such simple training." Monoma says haughtily.
Before Kendo could teach him a lesson she notices something rising from the bushes and backs away in 'fear.'
"Monoma run." Kendo says with mock seriousness.
"You can't be serious, nothing here is a threat." Monoma boasts until a shadow creeps over his form.
He turns around to see a large 'beast' silhouetted against the sun. It's 'head' turns to him and it begins moving down to him.
With a girly shriek Monoma flees the area, alerting the other students of a 'monster' in the bushes.
"Do you think that was Midoriya?" Mandalay asks Aizawa.
"It was." Aizawa says with a barely suppressed growl before walking off.
Of course before Aizawa could get there the tank had disappeared into the bushes and got away.
"We're totally getting Momo to make a few copies of this." Ochako says enthusiastically.
"Only if she promises to add better suspension." Izuku manages with a slightly green face.
"Just let it out." Ochako says with the tone of someone who has been there many times before.
"Help me get out." Izuku whispers.
After a long day of trolling through the bushes and irritating their classmates while evading Aizawa, Izuku and Ochako parked behind the gathered class. Slightly green, but with smiles on their faces, they vowed to do it again in the future.
"Midoriya, Uraraka, you're both banned from fun activities for the rest of the camp." Aizawa says irritably.
"But we trained!" Ochako protests.
"Yeah, Ochako dealt with her nausea and I practiced sneaking around in a tank." Izuku argues.
"You're still banned, obey instructions tomorrow." Aizawa says.
AN: The Praying Mantis tank, a rare favorite of mine. Everyone I show this tank to finds it amusing, so I had to write it here. I believe it was suggested as well, but I didn't find the review with a ctrl F so who knows?
I forgot to clarify but the Nelson last chapter was an AU joke, his first tank is still a mystery.
Bonus?:
"There's a standoff at the local department store!" Momo shouts as everyone relaxes in her tank garage.
"Let's go!" Ochako shouts jumping into the changing cubicles.
"I have an idea, and I think you'll like it." Izuku says.
"I have a bad feeling about this." Tsu mutters.
"This is perfect." Ochako says as she hurries into one of the tanks.
"It's a good idea, but what about Eri? We can't just leave her here." Momo asks. "Should we bring a tank with more seats?"
"She can fit between me and Ochako." Izuku says as he squeezes in.
"Ok then." Momo says, "Are you ready to fight villains Eri?"
"Yes! Papa and Mamas are going to kick butt!" Eri cheers before crawling in between Ochako and Izuku.
"Why did I agree to create an agency with you guys after graduation?" Tsu asks fate.
"You don't want to be a sidekick and I'm funding all of us?" Momo answers as she squeezes into her tank and follows Izuku out of the garage at a lightning pace.
"I'm glad Momo went for electric engines." Ochako whispers as they slowly drive between aisles towards the standoff at the pharmacy.
"So am I, the fumes would take out more citizens than any villain." Izuku agrees.
Eri loudly shushes them, "quiet, we're hunting baddies." she says.
Soon enough they reach an aisle next to the villain, who was using the staff as shields between him and the only entrance.
"Alright, we're in position." Izuku radios.
"So are we." Tsu replies.
"Raising the mantis." Izuku says and the two tanks simultaneously rise above the level of the merchandise.
"3, 2, 1" Izuku counts down and as one, Momo and Ochako take their shots and both rubber bullets strike the villain on both sides of his head, knocking him out and ending the standoff.
"I can't believe this worked." Tsu says, "Literally the only possible situation for this thing to be useful."
"So it was worth building and training with them for two years?" Momo asks.
"No." Tsu says.
They only laugh at that response.
"Can we just do this all day?" Eri asks before they leave.
"You know, why not?" Izuku answers.
"There are so many reasons." Tsu says.
"We're doing it!" Ochako cheers and with equally enthusiastic cheers from Eri and Momo they spend the rest of the day 'patrolling' the store and haunting the staff and customers.
P.S. What? How could I resist writing that?
