"You're going to help Kirishima rescue Bakugo?" Izuku asks, "That's not what I expected from you Momo."
"I know, but I gave him a receiver so I feel responsible that he returns safely." Momo says quietly.
"I don't like Bakugo, and I think we are being disrespectful to our teachers by doing this but I will go to keep you safe." Izuku says grimly.
"Really? For me?" Momo asks in surprise.
"I can't lose a fellow tanker to some dumb villains." Izuku says, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder before walking out of the hospital room.
"We need disguises." Momo says, pointing at a store.
"True, some of us are well known at this point." Todoroki agrees stoically.
But as they approach the store the manager rushes out carrying a pregnant lady and the clerk closes the store.
"Now what?" Kirishima asks.
"How about that store?" Izuku suggests pointing at the other side of the street.
"Military cosplay?" Iida asks.
"Perfect!" Momo practically shouts with glee.
"This seems to be attracting everyone's attention to us." Iida says with his usual arm motions.
"You chose the 'modern major general' cosplay." Izuku says with frustration. "Breeches, epaulets and a bicorne hat are not very subtle."
"And your overalls aren't" Iida argues, gesturing towards Izuku and Momo's matching olive drab tanker coveralls and leather helmets.
"Compared to your red dress uniform, yes." Izuku retorts.
"Can we all calm down?" Kirishima says, moving between the arguing heroes in training. He had chosen a replica US army ACU with digital camo.
"We need to keep moving." Todoroki says stoically. He had chosen a modern German army field grey dress uniform with a dark green beret.
"We'll need something fast and probably a bit sneaky." Izuku says, raising his hands to the sky after they finished their plan to extract Bakugo without fighting the League or All for One.
"I suddenly have a bad feeling." Momo stage whispers to the group. Not being as familiar with Izuku's quirk's bad luck, Iida and Kirishima merely share a look.
With a resounding crash a massive wall of metal appears in front of them, attracting the attention of everyone in the area.
"Is that what I think it is?" Momo says breathlessly, clearly overwhelmed by the tank's majesty.
"I guess we can forget going in all sneaky like." Todoroki deadpans.
"Or getting out in a hurry." Kirishima adds.
"Get in!" Izuku shouts as he offers a hand from the top of the hull. "Everyone into the turret except Kirishima, you get in the driver's hatch. Then Bakugo can stay with you and out of our way in the radio operator/co-drivers seat."
Within seconds everyone was in the tank and it was moving. Of course these seconds were enough for the villains to overcome their shock at the appearance of a tank.
"He brought a Maus this time!" Shigaraki wails in irritation.
Bakugo took advantage of the fact no one was looking at him, a certain 188 metric ton monument to mankind's hubris serving as unsurprisingly effective distraction, and he made a run for the tank.
"Hey you can't leave. Come back!" Twice shouts oddly before beginning his pursuit. But the tank's MG 34's rubber bullets soon put a stop to that. This does shock everyone into acting though and All Might leaps back into the fight with All for One as Kirishima drags Bakugo onto the tank and it proceeds to run away at a pathetic 20 kph.
Not that anyone in the League of Villains was able to pursue, one high explosive round from the co-axial 75mm was enough to keep them at bay. As the wind pressure from All Might and All for One's fight began to pick up, the tank was slowly turning the next corner, and not even falling debris could slow it down.
Once they were a few blocks away, they ditched the Maus in an alley. It sort of looked like a wall, so no one would notice, at least while it mattered.
Unfortunately while they were escaping with Bakugo they saw a patrolling hero, and they were spotted and questioned. Well not all of them, Izuku and Momo had kept their normal clothes on under their coveralls and simply slipped them off and entered a hotel they were passing.
"I'm pretty sure I know everything, but I want to hear it from you." Momo begins as they enter the room they rented for an hour. "Tell me about the Maus."
"Well... the Panzerkampfwagen VIII Maus is a prototype super-heavy tank made during the last months of the European theater of WW2. It actually uses the same hybrid drive system as the TOG, a big engine turns a generator that powers the electric motors. And it's speed is similar to the TOG as well, but it is much heavier at 188 tons to the TOGs 80." Izuku begins, "the armor is 150 to 220 mm thick and it's tracks are over a meter wide. It's armed with 128 mm KwK 44 L/55 with coaxial 75 mm. An MG 34 was added for close combat, along with a grenade launcher in the roof."
"It's too heavy to cross most bridges unfortunately." Momo comments with some disappointment.
"They actually thought of that, it is designed to ford rivers instead. The idea is to run a cable to a Maus on the shore to run the electric motors while a snorkel allows the crew to breathe." Izuku explains.
"So I need to make at least two of them?" Momo asks eagerly.
"Yes, you will need two." Izuku answers.
Momo squeals with happiness and begins planning the meals she would need to create a 220 mm thick armor plate.
"Three of you were caught rescuing Bakugo, and the rest are complicit since you didn't tell us about their plans." Aizawa says irritably. "Midoriya, Yaoyorozu. Neither of you were caught, so I can't give you detentions like the other three; but I know it was Midoriya's quirk and the both of you were seen leaving a Love Hotel in the area. You get away with it this time, but I'll be keeping a close eye on both of you." he finishes, leaving the class to its own devices.
"Love Hotel?" Mineta asks angrily.
"Just the two of you?" Ochako asks.
Izuku and Momo quickly flee the building, not wanting to deal with the accusations of the class.
"Come on, anything enclosed!" Izuku shouts, raising his hands into the air as he leaves the building.
"Is that a Churchill Hull without a turret?" Momo asks as a tank appears in front of them.
"Yes, a Churchill Kangaroo. Early armored personnel carrier." Izuku answers as they leap up the sides.
"Without a roof." Momo says with a sigh.
"Sadly no." Izuku says as they slide into the hole where the turret would normally sit.
"At least Mineta can't get in." Tsu says as she slides in behind them.
"Exactly, the last thing we need is a distraction during our interrogation." Ochako adds, floating in gently.
"I'll make some cushions." Momo says.
And so, the eventual tradition of casual outings in tanks began as they fled the class into a training forest and had a wonderful afternoon in the pillow filled comfort of an armored vehicle. (except for a brief interrogation using Ochako's unique methods of information extraction.)
AN: I overestimated the remaining days in the month... Oh well.
How does Ochako interrogate? Pain? Pleasure? Tickling? Use your imagination...
I think helping Momo is the only way Izuku would be convinced to join this rescue nonsense. Honestly it is one of the events that put me off the series and only saving Eri has regained my interest at all since. (All Might's fight is awesome but Izuku's part here is off.) That's one of the reasons my stories will always slow down as they go on, I dislike the cannon plot more, so I need to write my own stuff, or end it. But here I think I'll just switch to fluff chapters and the odd interesting event and some more AU chapters. Armored Trains perhaps?
Reviews: The Thornycroft Bison Concrete Armoured Lorry is very niche, so it's not unsurprising you had to look it up.
He can only summon tanks, the Nelson chapter was a joke, to show it can always be more ridiculous.
Keep up the suggestions, I always look through them before I write, just in case a different tank than I'm planning fits better.
