Izuku wasn't sure why they brought him on this raid. While his quirk was random it was never particularly good indoors, one specific training exercise notwithstanding. Not even the deployable tank upgrades Mei had built for him helped. They had quite wisely concluded that in the event that he needed to go inside, he would call for backup. He had at least upgraded the tank he had gotten with extra machine guns and smoke grenades. He had left the rocket thruster option alone this time. It was a truly miraculous bit of support equipment, a small zeppelin that follows a beacon on his hero costume. He could call it down at any time to add gear to his tanks.
A knock on the outside of his tank brings Izuku back from his musing.
"Lemillion just went ahead, blast these walls for us." Aizawa instructs.
"Right away, Eraserhead!" Izuku shouts. Before firing a high explosive shell at the blocking wall and driving through. "Stay behind me." he adds, hoping none of the heroes or police would take hits from flying concrete.
When Izuku failed to receive a reply he peaked out the rear, only to find the rest of the heroes missing.
'Not good." Izuku thinks, with full knowledge of how even a fully crewed tank suffered with target acquisition and general visibility in close quarters. 'I should get out and look, but without support...' Izuku was in trouble, but decided to carry on. 'Relax Izuku' he thinks.
'Ordnance QF 25-pdr on Carrier Valentine 25-pdr Mk 1 nicknamed 'Bishop' for it's huge forehead that reminded soldiers of a bishop's hat.' Izuku thinks, using facts to calm himself down as he blasts his way forward alone. 'A real rush job, gun doesn't elevate enough, so the range is half of what it is normally for the gun. They ended up digging these things ramps to get the guns up, though any hill would do in a pinch. Since it was built on the hull of an infantry tank, it's relatively well armored for an artillery piece, but unfortunately rather slow. Not that any of this matters in a tiny hallway underground!' Izuku finishes, his anxiety being replaced with rage at the moron who sent him down here in a turretless artillery piece. 'This isn't a russian SPG, it doesn't work as an assault gun in a pinch!'
Suddenly Izuku heard a lot of yelling and had a look around. In his attempt to distract himself he had caught up to Lemillion and interrupted a fight.
"Firepower, take Eri!" Mirio shouts once Izuku realizes what is going on.
"Right away." Izuku responds before opening up with his machine guns, keeping Overhaul and his minions at bay. He skillfully backs the Bishop next to Lemillion and pulls Eri through the big rear doors.
Unfortunately this was not a good fight for Izuku, Once the initial shock of fighting a tank wore off, Overhaul quickly cut Izuku's mobility to almost nothing by destroying the floor. The extra cover also made it easy to avoid the machine gun fire. Izuku was still hesitating about using the main 25 pdr gun, Overhaul didn't look like he could take a hit like Muscular did.
Fortunately the other heroes arrived and the fight turned hard against the yakuza. Izuku's endless barrage of .303 rubber bullets finally got lucky and took out Chrono as he was ambushing Aizawa, allowing the sleepy hero to disable Overhauls quirk and end the fight.
"I'm never going into a building alone again." Izuku declares that evening when he returns to the dorms. "Someone will have to stay in the tank with me."
"I wanted to, but I was Ryukyu's intern." Ochako says sadly.
"Same here." Tsu adds.
"I should have insisted on joining you." Momo says angrily.
"Next time you will be. I'll send Sir Nighteye an ultimatum, no more Firepower without Creati!" Izuku declares standing angrily.
Tsu could only look in despair.
"Midnight should have let you keep your full hero name, it's not like others didn't have longer ones." Ochako says abruptly.
"The Tanking Hero: Firepower, is good enough." Tsu says.
"But Superior Firepower is better." Ochako argues.
"It sounds condescending." Tsu says, "Even if it's meant to represent Izuku's favorite doctrine, most people won't know that."
"Doctrine of superior firepower: Lives are precious, bullets are cheap." Izuku states automatically.
"It fits, but I can see why Midnight vetoed it." Momo says.
AN: Look a name reveal, now I just need to think of a costume, probably just a coverall with a leather helmet and a lot of pockets. I dislike writing this raid, the fight with overhaul is epic, and was something that brought me back to the series after I dropped it, but the build up to it has all the reasons why I gave it up in the first place. Oh well, it has it's potential for stupid ideas at least.
While I have a few bonus segments today, I'm not in the right state of mind for an Eri bit. I need to process some tragic news, but I had already written most of this so I felt I should finish this to keep my mind off things.
Bonus 1
"Are you sure the roads can handle this?" Ochako asks as Izuku drives his Maus towards Shie Hassaikai headquarters.
"Of course, I checked the local plans, nothing under these roads, it will be fine." Izuku says tiredly before he hears a crack.
"Oh?" Ochako challenges.
"That's just a bit of pavement damage." Izuku says.
Of course it wasn't, the Maus soon crashed through the road weakened by secret underground facilities.
Once the dust had settled, Izuku stuck his head out the main hatch and noticed a couple of shocked thugs and a little girl.
"Uh... you are all under arrest under suspicion of creating an illegal structure." Izuku says with fake confidence, totally ignoring the catastrophic damage he just caused.
While the yakuza were angry that their hideout was exposed, these were just thugs, and the rather large 128mm barrel of the Maus pointing right at them made their choice rather easy.
"We give up!" they shout.
But all Izuku could hear was the loud sound of many palms hitting the faces of the heroes above.
Bonus 2:
With his tank destroyed Izuku ran with Eri in his arms. But he was not fast enough, he really should train more.
"We'll be alright Eri." Izuku says, trying to comfort the child, but it was too late, she panicked and activated her quirk.
With a crash of metal, hundreds of tanks appeared from Izuku, if he was able to keep track he would notice every tank he had ever summoned. This clearly burnt out Eri's quirk as her horn nearly disappeared, and she passed out. Luckily, there was now a wall of semi-controllable tanks in all kinds of positions in between him and the danger.
P.S. I forgot to say that this was inspired by Kilo8 who requested the FV304, but that's a niche prototype that's only popular because of a video game. I have played said game and used the FV304, back when it was way too strong, never liked it, preferred Bishop. So I wrote this.
