Sorry for the hiatus, I was on vacation! Onto the story...

Chapter 3

Derek rode into the high school parking lot in his black Mustang, pulling into his spot with a halting stop. Earning a few groans from his sisters, he quickly gathered his bag and his baseball clothes from his back seat and slammed the car door shut. He was jogging across the parking lot of Queen Anne High School when he caught a glance of Meredith Grey next to her friend Cristina's car. He found his legs to slow down and his head turned to stare at the perfection ahead of him. To be honest, he found it to be a great opportunity to talk about Friday night. He hadn't seen her since then and they obviously had things to talk about. Great things, he should add.

"Meredith, hey!" Derek yelled from fifteen feet over, accompanied by a huge wave.

Meredith threw a glare in his direction while her facial features gleamed with red. She slightly turned away with a groan and continued to talk to her friend. She was ignoring him. Awesome. For Derek, that only meant he had to try harder, knowing that that's what she had been doing to him all year. Despite her dismissal of his greeting, he continued to make way towards Meredith and Cristina, making sure to plaster a huge grin on his face.

"Hey Mer, I wanted to talk to you," Derek said as he finally got within earshot of her.

"That won't be necessary, Derek," she replied firmly.

"What? Did I do anything wrong..." he trailed off, glancing between Meredith and her friend.

"Hmmm, I just don't know if I want to talk to you."

"Yeah, McDreamy, get the hint," Cristina sneered at Derek all while calling him that stupid school-wide nickname. She never liked him ever since they had an English elective together the year before and he guessed that Meredith told her they hooked up so he definitely wasn't earning any more brownie points from the small Asian girl.

"Meredith, I'm confused. Can we just talk for a minute?" he asked pleadingly.

"Fine. You have a minute. Cristina, I'll see you at lunch."

"Alright… Bye," Cristina responded before turning and joining Alex Karev and Izzie Stevens on the front steps of the school.

Derek then turned back towards Meredith and smirked at her. He stepped a little closer to her and let his hand brush her arm. Only for her to step back a step and drop his hand from its spot on her forearm.

"I said you only have a minute, don't waste it."

"Don't avoid me, Mer. I just wanna talk about Friday night, at least we really should."

"I don't need to talk about it, I experienced it. Half naked," Meredith claimed as she sidestepped him and started to walk towards the front doors.

"Come on! Don't do this."

"Do what, Derek. We hooked up. Once."

"And we're lab partners. Can't forget that," he said with a smirk on his face.

"Derek…"

"If I was a better guy, I'd leave you alone. But, I can't," he told her while weaving through high school bodies in the main hallway, quickly approaching her locker and, consequently, the end of the conversation.

"Yes, you would."

"Do you want me to leave you alone?"

"Yes… No… Crap!"

"Did I just hear a no in there?" Derek said with complete confidence, quickly brushing her hair away from her face.

"I'm late," Meredith replied as she started to back away from him before turning away in order to pace to her class.

"Take your time," Derek lightly called after her before whispering to himself, "Think about it."

Derek wouldn't say that was progress with any other girl but Meredith Grey. Hearing the hesitation in her voice after he asked if she wanted to leave him alone had made him even more confident in his pursuit after Friday night. Now he just needed to ensure that he would have more alone time with her.

xXx

During his fourth period free that same day, Derek made his way down from the third floor to the first in order to get a textbook from the library. He pushed on the metal door into the stairwell, noting the loud clang that came along with it. He was silently humming a Clash song to himself when he heard another person enter the stairs from the second floor, so he brought his head from staring at his feet to see if he recognized the body. And, oh yes he did. Meredith Grey's blonde hair was recognizable from any angle and he stopped in his tracks while she picked her eyes up to meet his.

"Ugh… hi," she muttered out to him.

"Ah! It's great to see you too, Meredith," Derek smiled brightly to her, slowly backing her up to the wall behind her.

"What are you doing?"

"Talking to you…"

"This," Meredith said as she waved her finger between the little space they had left between their chests, "is not talking."

"Well, I'm saying words to you and I hear words coming out of your mouth so I think that constitutes talking. And a conversation," he said to her.

"You're a jackass," she claimed while glancing at his lips that were getting closer and closer to her. He couldn't mistake that stare from her eyes as anything else but lust.

"Am I? Would you let a jackass do this?" Derek asked her seriously as he swiftly lowered his head down and connected their lips.

She quickly responded to his kiss and returned it, slipping her tongue into his mouth and grabbed the curls at the back of his neck. He started to play with the hem of her shirt and trailed his fingers over her smooth stomach. Derek was sure he was dreaming when Meredith grabbed at his belt loop and pulled him closer to her then turned them around so he was against the wall. His arms snaked behind her back as he lifted her a little bit and grabbed the back of her head. Derek's tongue explored the caverns of her mouth and continued to rake his fingers through her golden hair.

"Mmm," she moaned slightly as his lips moved to her neck and he began to kiss over the fading hickeys he left her on Friday.

"You taste good, Mer," he said between kisses and he moved his hands to massage her waist.

"Hmmm.. thank you," she gasped out before a door below them clanged open and they sprung apart.

She quickly ran her hands over her mouth and neck to try and clear the evidence of his kisses, and he slightly fixed his hair and straightened the collar of his golf-style shirt. The footsteps of the person came closer before revealing themselves to be a teeny freshman boy with braces. They were lucky that it wasn't a teacher or someone else their ages, but they gave the boy a glance as he awkwardly trotted by them then continued to run up the stairs. Derek looked back at Meredith who was fixing her backpack around her shoulders and then brushed by him. Her actions mimicked the small boys as she started up the stairs without looking behind him. He smirked and ran his fingers through his hair with satisfaction, still staring at her as she went up the stairs.

"So we'll talk later?" Derek yelled after her, only to be met with silence. His hands rubbed the back of his neck before he went back in the direction he was headed.

As he reached the library, he couldn't help but smile to himself about what happened. They made out in the stairwell during school. It was definitely something that was usually out of his comfort zone, but she did that to him. She made him giddy and he knew that the feeling between them was mutual. Even if she couldn't admit it. Yet.

Let me know what you guys think, this chapter was fun! Sorry if it was a little short though, I'm still getting into writing!
