Crystal Clean

The rain was terribly heavy and Naruto's brown boots were sodden and caked in dirty mud. Naruto carried a heavy rucksack and a torch, his companion; Sasuke had the same attire but had a box of matches instead. The trudged up a steep hill as the wind tried to beat them down.

They were on a mission today. The mission had been assigned by the hokage, Tsunade, most precisely the slug. The aim of it was to go to find a certain treasure which was supposedly hidden in a river. It was a sudden one which only had given the pair a few hours notice and they first had to meet an emperor.

Naruto cursed as the wind blew stronger and a few flakes of vicious snow came with it, his orange chunnin jacket flapping in wild directions. He used his hand to shield his face as his sight blurred. Luckily, there was a cave in sight. Naruto gleefully pointed it out to Sasuke and took off, almost immediately. Sasuke hastily followed suit. It was dark but it would do its job.

Before long the pair were in a quieter but darker environment. Naruto cautiously stepped into the eerie silence accompanied by the flapping of the bat's wings. He looked around and noticed that there was no present human residence so he breathed a sigh of relief as he slumped onto a rock as his legs were tired.

Sasuke found a few dead rotting sticks of wood and created a roaring fire then joined Naruto. Naruto rested his head on the Uchiha's shoulders, making himself comfortable, and decided to pass time by having a conversation.

"Sasuke, I'm happy," Naruto breathed. He wriggled his toes closer to the fire.

"Why?" Sasuke said.

"I'm glad you came back from Orochimaru,"

Sasuke looked down on the blonde in surprise. A lump came to his throat and his eyes were slightly watered. He honestly hadn't been expecting anyone to welcome him when he returned. After all, the reason why he returned was because Orochimaru decided he had found a better container and abandoned him. It was shameful.

"Thank you," he managed to say.

He noticed that Naruto's weight had become heavy indicating that he had drifted off into sleep. He never thought that someone could be so comfortable around him and even fall asleep right on him. Smiling, he took Naruto off his shoulder and placed him on his lap. Then he closed his eyes, rested a hand on Naruto's body and he too, fell into slumber. In his mind there was peace.

Outside the winds battered the trees and tore at the roots of plants but inside held the two, warm and close together. They stayed like that for the period of the storm…

A/N: Okay, so it's slightly short but I meant for it to be a oneshot. I hoped you liked it. I guess I could end it right here or I could continue if you readers want. Give me a review and tell me what you think.
