Author's Note:

Here it is, the second part of the wish maker arc and the point where it diverts from the movie. This part is basically the climactic battle, I hope it turns out like I imagined. It's also the part where that evolution I mention being in this arc takes place... I hope you like who it is and how it plays out. Due to this being the big battle, I've split it into different sections which means multiple POV's. Hopefully it won't be to jarring but there's no way around it. I also want to point out the battle will be spilling into part three because it's very big... a lot bigger than I anticipated even though I outlined it. Not much else to say just don't forget to vote in the poll and with that, let's begin.

Chapter Twenty-Five: Jirachi, Wish Maker P II

On the morning of the third day, they had breakfast like usual, but the others went off to get some training in. While Serena made her way into the tent where the magic shows are held. Working her way towards the back, she found the cage holding Absol.

The pure dark type way lying down with eyes closed. As she stepped closer, he opened one eye and stared directly into her's, causing her to stop in place. He stood up and turned to face her completely. Taking a deep breath, she narrowed her own gaze.

"Absol, I've come to chat," she declared. He didn't move or respond in the slightest. Swallowing at the unflinching glare, she took a deep breath, "look Absol, the Pokédex said your able to sense disasters. Is that why your here?"

He gave a small, serious, nod.

"Well... why did you attack us then?" she asked. As her eyes looked into his uncompromising stare, she realised that even if he tried to give an answer, she couldn't exactly understand it. When her mind tried to think of how to reword it into a possible yes or no question, a loud ruckus appeared outside.

Her attention quickly turned back to the caged Pokémon, whose head piece glew white. With a series of swipes, he sent razor winds at the bars.

Following through with a series of night slashes from his clawed paws, she saw a desperation in his eyes.

"Is this what you sensed?" she asked.

"Sol," he nodded, going into pure out tackles.

"Then stand back," she replied. Not liking the pit of dread pooling in her stomach.

He paused his assault, and she took a deep breath. Holding her hands out, she sent a pulse of ESP out through them. Embracing the bars, she grunted as she pulled them apart. While not a massive gap, it was big enough to allow Absol to escape.

Jumping out, he took off towards the exit. Slashing his way out of the tent. She wasted no-time in following through the self-made hole.

Stepping out into the bright, sunny day, she paused at the sight. A large boat, with the aqua symbol painted along the side was storming across the water, with a loud horn echoing. Ash was already running towards them with Pikachu by his side.

She turned to see the others but paused. A couple of trucks were approaching down the hillside with a large green flying Pokémon overhead. Each truck had the magma symbol labelling the side.

"They must be after Jirachi!" Max shouted.

"Max... run. And hide," she instructed, "we can hold them off until help arrives."

"Diana already went to call the police," Butler explained.

The young boy didn't need to be told twice and he took off towards the forest in the other direction. She took out a Pokéball and released her shellfish Pokémon, who looked at her expectantly. Closing her eyes, she met his thought waves, "protect Max."

Opening once more, he gave a small nod and took off after him, easily catching up. She also caught sight of Treecko running after him.

"Good idea, Serena... go Beautifly!" May smiled, releasing her first caught Pokémon, "go with Max too. If you get in trouble, come and let us know."

"He also has Lotad with him," Brock informed, "they were playing together before this started."

"Alright Brock... Butler," she grabbed both of their attention, "think you can hold off magma?"

"We can try," the doctor in training smiled, "and I'll try to set up a makeshift healing centre."

"Thanks," she smiled, "I'll go and join the aqua front. We can't let one side overwhelm us whilst we stop the other one."

Turning her attention towards the lake, she doubled down her efforts. Her hand clutching to a Pokéball off her belt.

May clenched her fist. Watching the battle ahead between her Poochyena and a Numel, belonging to a Magma grunt. Her dark type was jumping around, avoiding the barrage of embers, waiting for an opening to attack.

"Bubble beam and then use your webbing!" a female voice called out.

A small, blue Pokémon, skating across the ground appeared from behind her. It sped across the short grass, easily manuvering around the fire balls.

Shooting out a barrage of small, high speed, bubbles. It struck the numb Pokémon and knocked him backwards.

Circling around, several white shots of webbing followed. Trapping the fire ground type on it's back.

She spun around and found a girl, probably a good few years older than herself running forward. Longish orange hair poking out from beneath the hood. May took in her appearance and she could at least tell this grunt was female, although it wasn't completely obvious if just glancing past.

"Hey there, little girl," the grunt greeted, "having a little trouble with the locals."

"Why did you help me?" she asked.

"Maybe because I want to beat you instead," she chuckled, "alright Surskit. Let's go for a run!"

Her head shot towards the small blue Pokémon, who shot out a single thick string. It struck Poochyena's back leg before it took off across the ground. The pure dark type went flying, and bouncing across the ground, being dragged along. She glanced at the grunt, who smirked from under her hood.

"Catch us if you can," she took off after the two Pokémon.

Not missing a beat, she shot after them as well. The blur of the two Pokémon ahead showed Poochyena somehow bite down on the webbing.

Breaking the string in half, he rolled across the dirt, stopping next to the lake with Surskit taking off across the water... somehow standing atop the surface and turning back towards them.

"Poochyena, are you okay?" she asked.

With a bark, he nodded and pushed himself back up. She sighed in relief. Narrowing her eyes, she took in the sight of both the aqua grunt and the small blue opponent. Clearly, they intend to battle her now. Reaching into her pocket, she pulled out her Pokédex:

Surskit, The Pond Skater Pokémon. From the tips of its feet, Surskit secretes an oil that enables it to walk on water as if it were skating. This Pokémon feeds on microscopic organisms in ponds and lakes. Due to their fast speed, attacks from predators are rarely affective.

Putting the device away, Surskit shot back across the water. Reaching the water's edge, it glew with a darkish green colour.

Her pure dark type dived into the ground disappearing from sight. Their opponent shot over the hole, stopping just a little bit away from her.

The ground underneath the water bug type cracked but it was too fast. Poochyena leaped out of the ground, completely missing the bug water type.

A second high-powered bubble beam shot out, striking his belly. Crying out in pain, he flopped down on his side.

Glowing once more, Surskit smashed into the downed dark type, two small fangs formed at the mouth. Which the pond skater sunk into her canine, who howled in pain. Collapsing on the side, she reached for her Pokéball and recalled him.

"Rest up, Poochyena," she whispered, clipping the ball back to her belt.

"I expected from the Slateport contest winner," she sighed, "I would've thought you put up a little fight... at the very least."

"How do you know about my contest ribbon?" she asked.

"What can I say, we all have our hobbies," she shrugged, "but if that's all you've got then-"

"Not by a long shot!" she declared, snatching a second Pokéball, "Torchic! Take the stage!"

In a flash of light, her starter landed right in front of her. While she knew he was at a massive disadvantage on the water. He's the only one capable of matching the speed Surskit has shown... not to mention other than Poochyena, the only one with any real battle experience.

He landed on the grass, staring down their opponent. Scrapping a taloned foot against the ground, he let out a battle cry.

"Rinse and repeat, Surskit," the grunt sighed.

Her bug water type shot off from the position. Launching out a second thick webbing straight for her starter.

"Flame charge into quick attack!" May shouted.

Her starter stamped around, kicking up dust. Charging out, his body was covered in flames. The webbing struck his chest but caught fire and it travelled down towards their opponent as her flaming chic disappeared in the blink of an eye.

Cutting off the webbing, Surskit left it to fall on the ground. Shooting across the ground, it quickly moved back across the water.

Torchic came to a stop just at the water's edge. Wobbling due to the sudden stop, he almost fell in, as their opponent skated around in a mocking taunt.

"No fair!" she cried out, "come and face Torchic like a real Pokémon!"

"You used the fire to your advantage, so we'll use the water," the grunt smirked, "why don't you come and get us?"

She growled and narrowed her eyes, "Torchic... Ember! Ember! Ember! Ember! Ember!"

Her starter took a deep breath, launching out a barrage of small embers. They shot across the water, but Surskit dodged with great easy.

It decided to counter by launching out a barrage of bubble beams.

Torchic leaped out of the way, running around the edge of the lake. Launching out separate bursts of embers, as he dodged the oncoming counters.

"Grr," the grunt growled, "slow it down, Surskit."

The water bug type moved closer to the land as a series of webs shot out. Ducking and diving out of the way, her pure fire type avoided the webbing. He turned inward and took off further onto the land as their opponent followed.

Within seconds of landing back on solid ground, Torchic disappeared in the blink of an eye. He reappeared right behind the pond skater.

His beak was glowing and extended, sending it flying across the ground. Landing on his feet, he stood tall against the downed opponent.

"Use fire spin and block it from the water," she commanded.

Taking a deep breath, he let out a stream of fire. A tornado of flames formed between Surskit and water, it moved sideways as the weakened bug water type attempted to move away. It almost made it too.

"Quick attack!" May shouted.

Torchic wasted no time in shooting forward, smashing into their opponent. Surskit went flying backwards right into the tornado of fire. As it faded down into nothing, a burnt pond skater was lying flat on it's side with swirls in it's eyes.

"Impressive. I never imagined you could actually do it, princess," the grunt chuckled, holding her Pokéball out to recall her fallen Pokémon, "thank you."

"Heh, you actually care for Surskit?" May asked.

"Of course... do you even know what the goals of Aqua are?" she asked.

"Your criminals," she scoffed, "make money. Cause trouble. What else could you want?"

"Listen princess, life isn't so simple," the grunt replied, "but someone like you wouldn't understand. I'll call... Carvanha!"

In a flash of light, a red and blue fish appeared in the water. It swam around, not nearly as fast as Surskit but far more aggressive. She turned back to her starter who looked up with expectations. She pulled out her Pokédex to check it out:

Carvanha, The Savage Pokémon. Carvanha's strongly developed jaws and its sharply pointed fangs pack the destructive power to rip out boat hulls. Many boats have been attacked and sunk by this Pokémon. No other wild Pokémon enter a school of Carvanha's territory

"Are you alright too-"

She stopped in her tracks as a water jet shot past her foot. Jumping back in surprise, she saw the fish emerge, tackling her starter. Trapping the fire type in the razor jaws, it flopped around. Splashing its way back to the water.

"Use Ember or Peck! Escape!" she panicked.

Torchic struggled but to no avail. Despite jabbing his beak into the water dark type, they continued back to the water. Almost like peck wasn't effective.

"Don't hurt it too badly, Carvanha," the grunt instructed, "just enough to get our message across."

They splashed back into the water and her heart sank as they disappeared below the surface. She felt her heart stop at the sight of the brutal assault. It felt like hours, but the savage Pokémon leaped out of the water and spat her starter down onto the ground.

She dropped to her knees and scooped him up. His feathers were messed up with slight trails of blood seeping through. A weak cry came out of him.

"Maybe tone it down a little more next time," the grunt instructed.

"How could you do this?" May asked, blinking as tears fell down onto the soaked fire type.

"It's no worse than burning Surskit," she instructed, "a night with Nurse Joy or another with medical knowledge and he'll be just fine."

She silently reached to her belt and recalled her starter. She couldn't help but feel a burning rage travel through her veins. Her hand shook as she shrunk the device, clipping it back to her belt. Quickly snatching another as she shot back to her feet, "I need you Minun!"

Her pure electric type appeared in front of her. Performing a little cheer routine.

"Now things are getting interesting," the grunt smirked, "let's rinse and repeat, Carvanha!"

The fish Pokémon shot out of the water, surrounded by the stuff. Like a bullet, it shot over the ground on a dead set for her newest team member.

Minun, using her cheer-jumping, easily avoided the attack. With their opponent smashing into a tree behind.

"Encore!" she shouted.

Before the water dark type could splash or fail it's way back to the water, her pure electric type made several cheers whilst glowing. A ball of pure white energy shot out and struck the land-captive fish. Despite it's best efforts, it just couldn't effectively travel back to the water.

"Just use Aqua jet again!" the grunt shouted.

"Nuzzle!"

The savage Pokémon attempted to surround itself in water but as it shot off, her cheering Pokémon tackled head on. Rubbing her cheek against it with static.

Carvanha stopped in it's tracks, with static consuming it's entire body. Minun, who stood behind, smiled brightly. Forming a ball of electricity, she trapped their opponent inside and used the electro ball to send their opponent flying.

Splashing in the water, the fish laid on it's side with static sparking off it's body. Swirls replaced it's eyes.

"And that was for Torchic!" May declared.

"Nun!" her electric type added.

"So, you at least know your type chart," the grunt commented, using a Pokéball to recall her fallen fish, "thank you, Carvanha. Rest up."

"Looks like I've won," May boasted.

"Three against two hardly seems fair," the grunt frowned, "tell you what. I'll use one more... but you can use as many as you like."

"What's got you so confident," she asked.

"You'll see," she smirked, flicking her wrist out of the hoodie. A red light shot out and her eyes widened at the Pokémon which materialised.

Her bottom lip trembled as a cold sweat formed on her forehead. She took an apprehensive step back as her eyes refused to close, focused on the primarily blue Pokémon. Her jittering hand reached into her bag, and she pulled out the Pokédex once more:

Tentacruel, The Jellyfish Pokémon. The final evolved form of Tentacool. Tentacruel has tentacles that can be freely elongated and shortened at will. It ensnares prey with its tentacles and weakens the prey by dosing it with a harsh toxin. When fully grown, it can have up to eighty tentacles in total

"M-M-Minun," she stuttered, putting the device back away.

The pure electric type leaped forward, summersaulting over the first tentacle. Extending her body, she rubbed her cheeks with her stubby arms as she dived.

A second tentacle came from underneath, with a glowing purple tip. It struck the cheering Pokémon's stomach, uppercutting her into the air.

Wrapping around her body, she snatched her back down. Smashing her into the ground.

She dropped to her knees as her newest team member rolled over to her. A purple mark over her nose with swirls replacing her eyes. A weak, sickly groan of pain as she reached out. Pausing her hand just above her, unable to do anything.

"Sorry," she whispered, blinking with tears dropping down. Reaching to her belt, she solemnly recalled her fallen partner.

"It seems you won't be getting the badge today, sorry," the grunt sarcastically laughed.

"Do you think this is some sort of game?" May asked, unable to

"No, it isn't. And if you can't handle it, then you shouldn't be here," the grunt replied, "tell you what. One more try against Tentacruel here. I won't even give her a command and you can use two Pokémon at once. I want to see what the daughter of a gym leader is really capable off."

Shaking her head, she chanced a glance up, to see the water poison type taking a step forward.

With a hard swallow, she pushed herself up. Forcing her eyes to lock on their opponent, her two hands reached for her belt, grabbing the last two Pokéballs off. Taking a deep breath to calm herself, she held them both out.

"Mawile! Clamperl!" she shouted, "take the stage!"

Her two Pokémon materialised right in front of her. Mawile performed a small twirl before bowing towards their opponents, while Clamperl sat on the grassy field with an open shell. The steel fairy type turned back to look at her.

"We're in the middle of a battle," she explained.

"Let's get the party started, Tentacruel," the grunt informed.

Sliding forward, the jellyfish Pokémon easily loomed over both her Pokémon combined with a menacing glare.

Mawile reacted first, twirling with a wink. Several hearts shot out and hit their opponent straight on... but to no affect.

"Tentacruel isn't interested in females," the grunt informed, "right girl?"

"Tenta," she grunted.

A tentacle shot forward with Mawile leaping backwards. Undeterred, it redirected the ligament straight for her pure water type.

"Clamp!"

Snapping her shell down, it trapped the tentacle inside. Her eyes shot to her fears face, and her breath stuck in her throat.

She didn't even blink despite having a tentacle stuck in the shell. Raising the ligament up, her bivalve Pokémon went with it. Swiping it across the ground, it knocked Mawile sideways with no-where to dodge. Smashing her back down, Clamperl released the tentacle.

Lifting up the blue appendage, a ball of purple sludge shot it. It flew high into the air.

"Quick Mawile, protect Clamperl!" she shouted.

Knowing poison won't hurt her steel fairy type, she ran out in front of the attack. Bracing herself, it landed her hand and exploded over her.

She shook her body, clearly try ridding herself of the toxic sludge. Another tentacle shot out and snatched her up, bringing her dangerously close to the jellyfish Pokémon's eyes. For a split second, one of them seemed to glint, with a massive get of water spraying out from beneath the appendage.

It took Mawile with it and smashed straight into her dazed Clamperl. Both Pokémon smashed against a nearby tree trunk, ripping through it. The top part fell to the side as the attack ended. Revealing both Pokémon, soaked, lying behind it unconscious.

"Here's a tip, princess, if you can't handle a fight, don't take one on," she instructed, "I think one of your friends has set up a medical bay nearby. It might be smart to make your way over and don't worry. With the proper treatment, all your Pokémon should make a full recovery."

The grunt turned and ran off in a random direction, with her water poison type following closely behind. She couldn't help but sigh in relief once it was out of sight. Turning around, she ran over to her two fallen Pokémon.

Maybe finding Brock would be the best thing right about now.

Brock took out the remainder of his Pokéballs. Steelix, Aron, Mudkip and Slakoth join lined up as he placed Electrike away for his own safety. Lying out a blanket, he caught site of Donphan storming around in a roll out, hitting the first wave of grunt Pokémon from team magma. Presuming he was sent to help out due to being less effective against a swarm of water types.

As he laid out his limited supply of medical supplies, he saw Butler surrounded by his team of four, Salamence, Dusclops, Kirlia and Mightyena. While a large, round figure travelled towards them. It was the commander back from the Oceanic Museum, with his Magmortar.

"Salamence!" Butler shouted.

The mighty dragon roared and took off, flying towards them. He snatched the walking volcano off his feet and disappeared among the carnival grounds.

"Heh, guess this will be more interesting than originally anticipated," Tabitha smirked, releasing a row of Pokémon. Some he recognized as such as a large Machamp, Weezing, Swellow and a Mightyena of his own. Although the sixth Pokémon was much stranger.

It was a mostly blue, rock-like Pokémon. With small round eyes, a red nose, which seemed much too large for it's actual body size, and a bushy black moustache. As he looked closer, he saw it was made out of some sort of loose iron shavings. Three small objects were located around it's base, which appeared to be shaped like some sort of bird heads with large beaks. It had a big red hat-like object atop it's head.

"Steelix... stop them!" he shouted.

His starter let out a loud roar, charging forward. The pure fighting type ran forward, leaping up with glowing arms.

The pure fighting type crossed them, smashing into his iron snake Pokémon. As he fell, the tail of his first Pokémon side swiped him away.

With a mighty roar, he let out a dark blue flaming dragon breath. It landed on top of the downed superpower Pokémon, but he stood back up regardless.

Smashing his foot down onto the ground, a massive quake extended outward. Knocking his starter off balance, he spotted Swellow and Weezing charging.

"Aron, you take the Weezing!" he instructed, "as a steel type, his poison won't affect you."

"Help him out, Kirlia," Butler added.

The two Pokémon charged over the grassy field towards the floating ball of toxic gas. A thick, black, smoke cloud threatened to block the view, but a wave of psychic type energy engulfed it. With a swirl around, the smoke screen was thrown high into the air.

"Mud-Kip!" his water type cried.

Stepping forward, she launched out a jet of water. Despite hitting the bird in centre chest, it continued forward, snatching her in the talons.

"Dusclops, help get Mudkip back!" Butler declared.

His pure ghost type nodded and stepped forward. The two fists clenched tight, bursting with electricity, shooting into the sky after the bird Pokémon.

A series of explosions drew his attention as he saw the weird-looking rock Pokémon approach Butler's Mightyena. Shooting out the bird-shaped rocks which smashed into the ground. Throwing the dark type around as it tried to find some sort of opening.

Steelix let out a loud cry. He had Machamp stood on top of his head, glowing with an outline of fighting type energy. Delivering an assault from the top.

"Use Dig!" he shouted.

Brock's starter through his head forward. Burying underground as the superpower Pokémon went flying across the ground, thrown from his perch.

His head turned to a threatening growl. Tabitha's Mightyena was stalking closer. Leaping at him, he took a step back to avoid the predator. Landing where he once stood, he crouched low.

The pure normal type wobbled forward with his own claws glowing. Slashing them down directly on his face in a fury of swipes.

"Slakoth..." he muttered. While he knew he spent most of the time sleeping, he knew the species started to move around more when close to evolution.

Mightyena stood up and coated both his extended claws in dark type energy. Leaping towards his slacker Pokémon.

Despite not attacking, he was swaying from side to side whilst on his back legs. It was quite amazing how he swayed out of the way.

Their opponent continued to pounce around, snarling even harder as each strike missed. Stopping in place, he spun his tail overhead, coating it in metal, smashing it down on the ground. The dust cloud and slight quake knocked his normal type onto his back.

Pouncing forward, he landed on top of him. With a paw pinning him down, fangs flaring.

"Yawn!" he shouted.

Despite being unable to escape, his pure normal type took in a deep breath with a massive yawn. A sleep bubble floating out and hitting the canine's head.

Stumbling backwards, Tabitha's pure dark type yawned. Falling on to his side, he snoozed away without a care.

"Nicely done, Slakoth," he smiled, turning to the normal type... who was fast asleep himself, "heh. As many things change, the more they stay the same."

A massive explosion drew his attention as a giant fireball formed nearby. Crossing his arms in front of his face, he tried to look to see what caused it but couldn't, with all the other Pokémon, except Steelix who was visible due to his height, couldn't be seen.

With the smoke fading, it revealed both Tabitha's Weezing and Probopass lying next to each other. Unmoving and covered in blast marks.

It didn't take a genius to figure out Weezing tried to explode during it's battle... and was sent hurdling into his own teammate.

Steelix cried out and as he turned to see the result, he found his starter shooting out another dragon breath. As the blue flames faded, the fully evolved fighting type smashing through the ground. Crashing through Mightyena, creating a large pile of four unconscious Pokémon.

Raising his tail, he smacked it onto the back of Swellow's back. Who was skilfully flying through a series of elemental punches curtsy of Dusclops.

Knocking the bird out of the sky, he lowered his head to catch Mudkip. Who went flying from the talons. With the bird smashing into the pile of Pokémon.

A series of red lights absorbed the group as their attention turned towards Tabitha, who stood tall. Steelix, Mudkip, Aron, Kirlia, Mightyena and Dusclops created a line of Pokémon in front of him. Although his expression didn't show it.

Magmortar walked towards them from behind Tabitha. Holding his arm canon out, he fired a powerful flamethrower, creating a fire in front of the Pokémon.

"Salamence?!" Butler shouted, realising his dragon was fighting this walking volcano.

"Well, you kids sure seem to keep it interesting but now we've got some actual work to do," Tabitha declared, "give 'em something to keep busy with."

The pure fire type let out a loud cry, shooting flames out of both arms. Tents, stalls, and rides all caught fire. With the criminal thug walking away from the carnage created. With the small army running about to help fight this blaze from the inside out.

While he wished he could stop them... Magmortar has proven tougher than it looks, and they hardly have a good standing with this line up.

Not to mention, they need to stop this fire from burning the carnival to the ground.

Serena narrowed her eyes as she spotted a group of aqua grunts surrounding some sort of tech-machine. With a tall women, who she guessed was some sort of commander. She knew Ash was heading towards that aqua admin that led the siege back at the Devon Corp, so she doubled down.

Stopping just in front of them, she used her esp to toss four Pokéballs forward. Cacnea, Dustox, Meditite, and Ralts appeared right in front of her.

"Pin Missile! Psybeam! Hidden power! Disarming voice!" she shouted.

The four Pokémon launched out their respective attacks. Hitting the ground nearby, several explosions took place knocking the grunts sideways.

They quickly pushed themselves and released a series of Pokémon like Poochyena, Wingull, Carvanha and Corphish. Dustox took off over the water, attacking the fish Pokémon as she led them away. With the Wingull taking off after her. Cacnea leaped forward with glowing needle arms into the Corphish squad.

Ralts and Meditite went after the pack of Poochyena with disarming voice and force palm respectively. The women stepped forward with her arms crossed.

"You'll pay for this, brat," she sneered, taking out two Pokéballs. Turning to the lake, she tossed them, and two Pokémon materialised. One she recognized as a Starmie and the other was also somewhat familiar.

A long, serpentine Pokémon with a primarily cream-coloured body. The red eyes matched the long, pinkish red antenna, along with hair-like fins above the eyes, which begin thin and thicken towards the tips. These eyebrows extended down to the water. Some sort of tail rose from the water behind, revealing a combination of blue and pink oval scales, resembling a fan. On the top of the relatively small head was a straight spike. Running down either side of it's neck were three black dots, similar to gills. She reached into her pocket and pulled out her Pokédex:

Milotic, The Tender Pokémon. The final evolved form of Feebas. Milotic live at the bottom of large lakes. When this Pokémon's body glows a vivid pink, it releases a pulsing wave of energy that brings soothing calm to troubled hearts. It's said Milotic is the most beautiful Pokémon on the planet

Her mind flashed back to the Wallace cup back in Johto, where the name-sake top coordinator had one of these as his partner Pokémon. Not to mention, her own Feebas might evolve one day... although she can't focus on that right now. Her hand fell down to the side and unhooked a Pokéball.

"Let's do this, Magneton!" she shouted.

In a flash of light, her electric steel appeared right in front of her. Floating forward, it faced the two Pokémon with a blank expression. While Tangrowth or Ampharos would've been nice, neither of them was ready in their Pokéballs back at the lab... hopefully she won't need to call in even more reinforcements.

"Bring the storm," the women commanded.

Glowing with a dark blue outline, Milotic let out a loud echoing cry. A massive water tornado formed around them, engulfing all three Pokémon.

Stepping back, a high wind rushed past, blowing her hair and hat around. She had hold on, using a little esp to prevent being sucked in, squeezing her eyes shut. A weak pulse of esp shot into the twister and she soon found who she was looking for.

"Ride the twister and get close," she instructed, "then shock 'em good."

"Heh," the women scoffed, "children should be seen and not heard. And they shouldn't be trying to play hero. You're really bad at it."

A massive bolt of electricity engulfed the entire twister. Splashing down in the lake, both of the water types were revealed, static covering them. Magneton floated atop them, looking in much better shape.

"I guess criminals shouldn't try Pokémon battling either," she remarked - pausing as a glowing light engulfed Milotic - her eyes widened, "quick Magneton-"

"Starmie!" the women cut her off.

The water psychic type popped up between her magnet Pokémon and the sea-serpent. Spinning in place, a massive get of water shot out of the centre gem.

A yellow box formed around her electric steel type. With the water blasting against it, Magneton didn't move from the position.

As the light screen faded, Magneton was spinning on the spot. Shooting out a silver beam of steel type energy. It travelled across the air and smashed into the mysterious Pokémon. Knocking it backwards and down into the water.

Moments later it came spinning out like a disc. Smashing straight into her magnet Pokémon. Followed by a blue flame of dragon type energy.

Despite the light screen protecting him, the force was enough to knock it away.

An idea formed in her head as she saw an opportunity.

"Gyro ball on Starmie!" she commanded.

Her electric steel type started spinning with a grey outline forming around it's body. Travelling after the still spinning water psychic type.

"Add in some electricity!" she added.

Sparks formed around it with bolts shooting off in several directions. Creating a sparkling silver and yellow display. It smashed into their opponent, who and they crashed into the ground. As a dust cloud faded, Starmie could be seen shimmering invisible for a split second.

"Camouflage?" she asked.

"So, you do know a thing or two," the women remarked.

A blast of water struck Magneton in the back. She smirked seeing the light screen form to block it once more.

"Mirror shot and redirect!" she shouted.

A metal wall of light formed in front of the yellow box. The water bounced downward and smashed into the Starmie. Spinning around behind the chaos, a green beam shot down into the mysterious Pokémon, pushing it straight up into the air.

With all attacks ending in one go, the dust settled. Starmie was flat on it's back, with the centre gem blinking slowly.

"You wanted me to use camouflage?" the women asked, recalling her fallen water psychic type, "I'm almost impressed."

"What can I say, I've had my own share of double battles before," she smirked, "Serena... by the way."

"Serena? Interesting," she mused, "I'm Shelly, since we're sharing. Go Azumarill!"

"Azumarill? Not a great match up against Magneton," she informed, pulling out her Pokédex for a refresher:

Azumarill, The Aqua Rabbit Pokémon. Azumarill's long ears are indispensable sensors. By focusing its hearing, this Pokémon can identify what kinds of prey are around, even in rough and fast-running rivers. In most cases, this species is quite tame compared to other wild Pokémon

"No but it reduces the chances of Milotic's dragon pulse hurting her," she replied, "and as a water type specialist, none of my team are a great match up. But you're up to something."

"Am I?" she asked.

Shelly turned her attention upwards to see Magneton floating high above. Fast asleep.

"Shoot it down!" she shouted.

Milotic took a deep breath, launching out a dark blue flame of dragon type energy. She closed her eyes and sent out a weak wave of esp.

"Time to get up, number six," she sent a mental message.

It's eyes burst open before a yellow box formed. Absorbing the blast, Magneton came spinning around and dove straight down.

"Azumarill stop it, then attack Milotic," she instructed, "how did it sleep and still fly that high?"

"Combination of rest and magnet rise," she explained, "helps in longer battles... and the longer I distracted you, the more Magneton healed."

The water fairy type surrounded herself in water. Blasting off into the air, she was on a direct course for her magnet Pokémon, who had a grey outline form around his spinning edge.

She narrowed her eyes ready for the collision but could watch. A blast of another dragon pulse engulfed both Pokémon, hiding the clash.

As the chaos faded, Magneton looked as good as knew with Azumarill falling below. Static surrounded her body as she fell down.

Milotic moved to grab her out of the air, but her electric steel made it first. It trapped the round tail between two of it's magnets, spinning her around as they continued downward, picking up speed.

"How?!" Shelly growled.

"A combination of Magneton's steel typing resisting dragon and light screen made Milotic pretty useless..." she explained, with a smirk, "but the cover gave it chance to out mauver Azumarill and being higher up... well, that gave us the edge we needed to launch thunder wave."

"Milotic!" Shelly shouted, clenching her fist in anger, "finish this!"

The pure water type dived under the water before shooting out like a rocket. Spinning around, her tail covered herself in spiralling water.

"Discharge!" she called, seeing all three of the Pokémon on a collision course.

A blast of yellow lightening engulfs the three Pokémon as a series of cries filled the area. The sea-serpent covered the result as she wrapped around the magnet Pokémon, surrounding everyone in water with a massive explosion engulfing them all.

Magneton went flying downward, smashing into the ground with Azumarill still trapped with it. Neither Pokémon moved, with swirls replacing their eyes.

A red light shot out of the black cloud in the sky, hitting a device in Shelly's hand. Her mouth dropped as she looked up that last move.

Flip turn: A powerful water type move, the user tackles their opponent before retreating back to safety to recover

Reaching for the Pokéball off her belt, she silently recalled her fallen magnet Pokémon. Closing her eyes, she sent a little thank you message through her abilities before clipping it back to her belt. Watching closely, she saw Shelly also having recalled her Azumarill.

"Finally, that thing is down," she growled.

"You seemed to have trouble," Serena commented, taking another Pokéball in hand, "not use to battling?"

"Not that it's anything to you, but I'm a Marine Biologist first," she spat, holding two Pokéballs out, "now go Kingdra and Mantine!"

In a flash of light, two Pokémon materialised. One she knew well, having one on her own team back at the lab, which was half submerged in the water with narrowed eyes. While the other she wasn't as familiar with, as it leaped out of the water, floating above her partner. It was large, shaped like a sort of diamond with how the wing-fins spread out. The back was a dark blue colour with a jagged outline on the wings, although she couldn't make out anything specific on her back. With a streamer-like tail and a pair of long antenna sticking out of her head. She held her Pokédex out to scan her:

Mantine, The Kite Pokémon. The final evolved form of Mantyke. On sunny days, schools of Mantine can be seen elegantly leaping over the sea's waves. This Pokémon is not bothered by the Remoraid that hitches rides. With the right momentum, it can glide for over three-hundred feet with a rider

"Well, I'm a performer... but you could say I'm a top coordinator first," she smirked, tossing her Pokéball up, "let's do this, Sylveon!"

Her partner materialised right in front of her, extending her feelers out in an intimidating manner. Stepping forward with a hardened glare.

The water dragon type took a deep breath, shooting out a powerful pale blue beam of ice. Small and thin, it was almost like a bullet.

Sylveon spun her feelers around and sent a blast of air back, which sparkled with fairy type energy. Smashing into the oncoming attack, it clashed into it, destroying it effortlessly. It travelled forward and blew the water away, but Kingdra had dived to avoid it.

Mantine went over the top, diving down with glowing wing-fins. Narrowed eyes showed a direct path for her fairy type.

Using her feelers for a lift off, she leaped over the top of the water flying type. Spinning around, the ribbons wrapped around the antenna's.

Landing behind the kite Pokémon, she used the momentum to spin her in a loop. Driving their opponent down into the water.

She laid on top of the water. Dazed from the impact, as her partner formed a pink ball of fairy type energy at her mouth, launching her moonblast.

A giant blast of water shot through the attack, destroying it before getting anywhere close to the original target. Mantine shook her head and disappeared under the water. As Kingdra shot back up, launching a high-powered hydro pump before diving once again.

Sylveon leaped out of the way, dancing around the attacks. Despite not being hit, Serena knew they were on the back foot with this situation.

Closing her eyes, she sent out a weak pulse of esp. While she wouldn't dream of using her powers to influence an official battle like this, when facing criminals, she has to do whatever is needed. It took a few moments, but she soon locked on to her opponents thought waves.

"She'll come up there next," she mentally informed her fairy type.

The intertwining Pokémon landed and shot her four feelers into the location. As Kingdra re-emerged, one wrapped around her snot, enforced by the other locking her head in place. With the remaining two constricting the body, she lifted her out of the water. Some sort of blockage built up around her head.

Letting her go mid-air, the water dragon type became a sort of balloon. Blowing around as the water spewed out of her now free snout.

Mantine shot out of the water and high into the air. Catching her partner on her back, she began soaring back down to the ground.

Sylveon leaped back, panting heavily from the constant dodging. Waving her feelers arounds, she sent a fairy wind straight up.

Her attack struck the water flying type, knocking her off balance. Kingdra fell off her back, crashing into the ground with swirls in her eyes.

The kite Pokémon dived back under the water and out of sight. While she knew it was likely healing in some way, Serena knew she'd have to wait for it to show itself once more. A red light shot out and engulfed the fallen water dragon type, curtsy of the aqua commander.

"Heh, I would ask how you managed to work out where Kingdra would be," she sneered.

"I've got a Kingdra myself and the old, hide and hit tactic we've seen before," she explained, "it's actually a favourite of my boyfriend's Pikachu but he uses dig instead of the water. Two plus two equals four, as they say."

"Right," she rolled her eyes, taking out another Pokéball, "Dewgong, let's go!"

As the water ice type splashed down into the water. It was a little unsettling to see she had multiple Pokémon that she, herself, has caught.

"You know, I'm a little surprised you're sticking to two at a time," Serena mentioned, "thought you might try to overpower with everyone at once."

"I would but that leads to a mostly uncontrollable situation," Shelly replied, "you already capitalised on such a situation. I like full control and the ability to reply to any variables. I've only stretched out to two at once because of our lack in actual battle tactics."

Leaping up onto the land, Dewgong took a deep breath. Unleashing a powerful blizzard over the ground.

Serena had to cover her face from the bright blast, as a cold chill overtook her entire body. Squinting through the attack, she saw a glimmer of yellow, which she assumed was the light screen Magneton had set up. Despite having it active, she knew her fairy type preferred avoiding attacks outright.

Closing her eyes, she sent out a stronger psychic pulse. Locating the source of the blizzard, she shared the mental map with her partner.

The rushing wind and strong blizzard blocked her senses from making out any details. As she tried to focus on the two Pokémon, she only received a blink idea of what they were doing... although a third mind entered her field and her eyes widened. The cold icy winds blew past them.

"Look out!" she shouted.

With the blizzard easing, she found the entire area covered in snow and ice. Sylveon had her feelers wrapped around Dewgong, restraining her like Kingdra.

Mantine dived straight behind her and began smashing her wing-fins into her with a powerful blow. Landing on the ground, she entered a brutal assault.

"Play rough on Mantine!" Serena shouted.

Releasing her grip on Dewgong, Sylveon used her feelers to block the acrobatics attack. Glowing with a pink outline, she returned her own assault.

Watching closely, it quickly became clear her fairy type took control of the duel. Her eyes widened as Dewgong threw herself at the two duelling Pokémon.

"Behind you!" she shouted.

Sylveon wrapped her feelers around the wing-fins and flipped her overhead. Smashing her head into the ground, Dewgong smashed into her back.

The water flying type cried out in pain, taking the horn drill in the back. Flopping back, the water ice type paused in place. Using her feelers, her fairy type eeveelution tossed the kite Pokémon to the side, who laid on her stomach with swirls in her eyes. A red light quickly withdrew her from the icy field.

"How did you know Dewgong wouldn't continue to use blizzard?"

"Educated guess," she smirked, "I knew you weren't happy when Milotic took out Starmie so with Mantine in range, blizzard was unlikely... besides, it was clearly your way to get Mantine in close. If only you realised that not only long ranged moves could be redirected."

Sylveon let out a loud battle cry, waving her feelers around. A think pink cloud blew out, passing past their opponent as a mystic fairy terrain set up.

A white ball of pure energy shot up into the sky and out of her fairy type Pokémon. Not wasting a moment, she shot forward.

Dewgong pointed her horn towards her, an ice ball forming at the point. A beam of ice shot out straight towards her intertwining Pokémon.

Forming a moonblast at her mouth, she countered the ice beam. Leaping to the side, she pounced forward, knocking her opponent off balance. Using her feelers, she engulfed her opponent with the ribbons. Using the momentum from her leap, she took the sea lion with her.

Swinging her around, Dewgong grunted with each blow. Unable to counter this grip, she continued to bash her around until the ball of energy fell back down.

Tossing the water ice type away, she leaped up. Being hit by the wish, her eyes widened, like being filled with caffeine. With a moonblast forming at her lips.

Spinning around as she fell back down to the misty terrain, she sent the attack flying. It smashed into Dewgong's face, who was struggling back up. Exploding in her face, the smoke cleared as she slumped back down onto her stomach with swirls in her eyes.

"So, you ready to give up yet?" Serena asked, as the ice water type was recalled from the field.

"When you believe in what you're doing, whether your adversaries understand the need for such actions. You don't stop," Shelly replied, switching the devices and tossing it up, releasing her Milotic once more, who looked in a much better condition, "we won't be stopped from protecting the world's oceans and all who live there!"

"Mi!" the sea serpent shouted.

Extending her body upwards, the pure water type launched out a powerful hydro pump. It smashed into the misty-terrain ground, as Sylveon jumped up.

Taking a deep breath, she let out a high-pitched screech. The condensed soundwaves were semi-transparent with a pink tint.

Using her long, pinkish-red, hair-like fins to block the disarming voice. She dived down as the fairy type landed back on the ground.

Jumping to the side, she avoided the water serpent's tackle. The long scale tail came up, shimmering with a metal coating. Knocking her sideways with the heavy blow. She rolled onto her side as their opponent slivered closer, a ball of ice forming in front of her face.

Her feelers shot up and wrapped around her hair-like fins. Using her two free feelers, she jumped up and overhead, soaring over her.

Landing behind her, she dragged her head back and flipped her over. Smashing into the water, letting her go whilst forming another moonblast.

A high-powered blast of water shot out. The two moves collided, imploding, and cancelling each other out with a cloud of smoke.

The scale tail came down with a metal coating smashed down next to her fairy type eeveelution. Sending her sideways.

Sylveon spun in the air landing on all fours. Their opponent came charging forward and caught her in a tight wrap.

"Finally," Shelly sighed with a roll of the eyes.

"Dazzling gleam and climb!" she shouted.

A series of bright, pink, flashing lights covered up the close assault as the shadow of the intertwining Pokémon appeared climbing up the sea serpent. She pounced off the head and high into the air, spinning around and waving her ribbons around to send a powerful fairy wind straight down.

Milotic smashed her head into the ground. A moonblast followed soon after, landing directly on her head.

With the fairy type eeveelution landing right next to her. A red light engulfed the sea serpent, returning her as Shelly took off across the grass.

"Stop her, Sylveon!" Serena shouted.

Her intertwining Pokémon leaped after her, sending all four feelers ahead. She wasted no time in following. Looking around she found a loose rope on a table behind a stall. Holding her hand out, she sent out a wave of ESP to grab it.

Looking forward she saw her fairy type tripping her the Aqua commander up by wrapping her feelers around her feet. Throwing her hand forward, the rope went fly and she moved her fingers around to manipulate it, tying up women.

Turning her attention towards her younger team members: Dustox, Cacnea, Meditite and Ralts. Glancing at Sylveon, they took off to help them out.

Max continued to run as fast as his little legs could carry him. His staggered breath slightly fogging up his glasses as he clutched tight to the wish maker in his arms. The sight of the forest was his target, if their adventure so far taught him anything, forests are the easiest place to get lost.

A loud cry echoed around. A green blur caught his attention as it flew past. A massive stream of flames shot down, creating a massive fire wall.

Skidding to a halt, Beautifly stopped right in front of him, floating in place. Treecko landed next to his feet, taking up an offensive stance as he placed Lotad down by his feet. Absol pounced forward, in front of him, joined by Kabutops.

In front of them landed a large, insectoid Pokémon. A Flygon, which he remembered Drake of the elite four using when he went to see him battle last year after the emerald conference. It was a primarily light green colour and had a pair of large rhombus-shaped wings with red trims, toeless hind legs, and skinny arms with three-clawed hands. Flygon's tail swayed back and forth, revealing several dark green stripes and three small green rhombus shapes with red trims at the end. It had large eyes and a pair of green antennae that pointed back. The eyes were covered by some sort of red shield bulb.

A girl, who he'd put around Brock's age, slide off the dragon ground types back. Her outfit was made up of two different shades of red, the inner clothes were a dark brownish red with black lines. While paler red coat covered her body, with a hood covering most of her face.

"Hand over the wish maker," she commanded, her voice was emotionless... robotic almost.

"No way!" he shouted, clenching the psychic steel type to his chest, turning to the side.

"Ahahahaha! You're going to meddle in Team Magma's affairs?" she asked, looking up. She revealed her eyes, a hypnotic grey colour. A shiver travelled down his spin as he looked deep into them, unable to look away. Instinctively taking , "you're either absolutely fearless, simply ignorant, or both! You're so cute, you're disgusting! I'll put you down, kiddy!"

With a flick of the wrist, two Pokémon materialised in front of her. The first he semi-recognized, having studied the starters in Hoenn and their evolution lines for years. It was a bipedal, chicken-like Pokémon. The final evolved form of Torchic, as it were, a Blaziken. Based on the length of the hair, he'd guess she was female. The majority of her body was red with accents of beige, yellow, and grey. Behind her head, there were beige, hair-like feathers that continued downward and surrounded her chest and abdomen. She had a small red face with a V-shaped crest on her head. The eyes were blue and semi-circular, with yellow sclerae, and her mouth resembled a hooked beak. The hands were featherless, grey hands with three fingers each, and three clawed toes that were not normally visible due to the shaggy, yellow feathers on the bottom of her legs. He only got to see it as it hopped from one leg to the other, kicking the air.

While the second one he couldn't quite place. None of the league battles he remembers seeing one. It was floating in the air, around the head of it's partner, in the shape of a cube with a pointed spike on top. It was mostly orange with a red plasma arms extended out. Two robotic red eyes were above the black rectangle right above it's presumable stomach.

"Ka Kabutops," the water rock type growled.

Charging forward it extended both scythes to the side. They glew a bright white colour. Stopping right in front of Blaziken, the first one came overhead and knocked the leg back down. Swiping the second scythe to the side, it hit the fire fighting types midsection.

Blaziken spun to the side with the attack, extending a foot out as she passed by. The prehistoric hunter ducked his head, avoiding the attack.

The fully evolved starter landed on both legs and took off. Her body bursting into flames.

With a mighty roar, his body burst into water as he took off after her. Shooting high into the air like some sort of torpedo.

He watched both of them clash as they started to fall. Both disappeared out of sight as his attention was drawn to the nearby Pokémon.

Absol wasted no time in shooting off towards the weird looking Pokémon. Knocking it back with a razor wind, the dark type took off with the weird oven-looking Pokémon recovering and taking off after him.

"Now that the bodyguards are dealt with, time to crush you," the girl replied, "oh, and I'm Courtney, by the way."

Blinking in surprise at her constant changing demeanour, he was taken back when two more Pokémon materialised right in front of him. The first he recognized as one of Brock's Pokémon. A Ninetales, who stood tall. The silky tails extended up like a sort of sun display.

While the second Pokémon was a large, black Pokémon which resembled a mud statue with two stubby legs. It had a wide, spherical head with a rounded protrusion on top. Around it's head were many large, pink eyes with yellow, beak-like protrusions between each. A wavy, white rim runs along the upper edge of the eyes. Their torso had white ring markings, each with a downward extension and yellow dot in the middle. With spherical arms with rounded protrusions pointing down. They weren't attached to the body but were floating close by... narrowing his eyes, his breath stuck in his throat.

"A Claydol," he muttered, remembering reading about one when studying psychic types in the Hoenn region. It was a lot bigger in person.

"Tree," the grass started growled, spitting his twig down in the ground.

A stream of flames shot forward towards them. A massive weight hit him, and he stumbled backwards. Clutching Jirachi tight he looked up to see Ash's wood gecko standing back up, having saved him. Letting out a loud cry towards the two Pokémon.

The flames disappeared as a massive jet of water blasted back. It was always surprising to see how much power the little guy had. Ninetales leaped out of the way of the water gun, which splashed on the ground. Landing on all fours, it growled threateningly.

Beautifly swooped forward, flapping her wings as it sparkled with bug type energy. It blew past the two Pokémon but neither seemed affected.

With the two unattached arms raising up, a series of bright balls of energy formed. The lights turned into rocks which shot out.

May's first caught Pokémon attempted to avoid them. It swooped out of the way of the first two but the third made a direct hit. Sending her flying away.

Treecko let out a massive cry as the last rock came hurdling towards them. He launched out a bullet seed to try and destroy it, but it seemed to have little effect. Lotad added in a massive water gun but even combined, the double attacks didn't seem too affective.

"Cko! Treecko!"

Jirachi shot out of the tight embrace, shimmering into metal. Charging through the two attacks, the legendary smashed into the ancient power, destroying it.

"Tree Treecko, Treecko cko!" he ordered.

"Got 'cha!" Jirachi's mental voice replied.

The psychic steel type flew back towards him, landing in his arms softly. He watched as Lotad matched another flamethrower with his water gun. With the pure grass type leaping forward towards the two Pokémon.

Claydol formed several more ancient powers between it's arms. Launching them towards the wood gecko like high powered cannon balls.

Treecko leaped from one to the next, bouncing over effortlessly. More continued to follow as he got close towards the two Pokémon.

With one more massive leap, he rolled behind the flame throwering pure fire type. One of the rocks smashed into the side, knocking her sideways.

Lotad continued his water gun. Completely drenching the crushed fire fox. As the rock crumbled around her, it was revealed with swirls in the eyes.

A red light engulfed the fallen fire type. Taking her off the field, his eyes locked on Courtney, feeling unnerved by her cold dead stare from behind her giant ground psychic type. With a flick of the wrist, she switched Pokéballs, "tedious... bothersome... child...You should... just be quiet... and give me... the wish maker... Claydol... acquire target... Camerupt... join assault."

Next to the floating ground type materialised a vaguely familiar quadrupedal Pokémon. With two grey humps on the back, which resembled volcanoes. From what he read about them; the size implied she was female. She had a stout body with reddish orange, shaggy fur and three blue ring-shaped markings on her side. Her head had bangs on top, with droopy ears, and a tan fur-less muzzle.

Claydol had the eyes glow bright as the floating arms raised. A wave of psychic type energy expanded outwards towards them.

Jirachi flew forward, glowing bright. A sort of basic, monster, teddy materialised around them. Dropping on the ground in between him and the attacking magma Pokémon. With the psychic steel type floated back towards him.

Peaking around the side, he watched Treecko disappear in the blink of an eye. He reappeared next to Lotad, snatching him off the ground.

As he tossed the dopey Pokémon towards them, behind the substitute, a loud bang drew all of their attention.

Camerupt was glowing a dangerous red colour. Black smoke spewed out of the humps as massive fire rocks shot out of the top.

Ash's pure grass type wasted no time in running towards the fire ground type. The wave of esp struck him, pausing him in place. With an eruption right above.

Grunting and scrunching his face, he pushed his way through the hold on him. Barely avoiding the attack, as it imploded into a crumbled fire patch on the grass, he ran forward. Taking a massive leap, he spun his tail around, smashing it down on the muzzle.

With an anger filled cry, Courtney's fire ground type spat out a single fire ball. It engulfed the wood gecko and sent him back across the field.

Claydol raised both of the floating arms. A ball of pure, white, energy formed between them. A massive hyper beam shot out of both of them.

"Treecko!" Max cried out, going around the side to better see him.

He watched a series of leaves surround him. Taking the powerful attack, they quickly disappeared as it smashed into the substitute. A glowing shadowy figure reappeared atop of the doll. With the hyper beam fading, the doll began to crumble in place.

Whilst the figure ran forward, changing shape. His eyes widened as the process came to an end, revealing the newly evolved Pokémon. He was still bipedal but most everything else changed, being easily double his original size. The shade of green over his body was much paler and slightly darker, with a red belly, and a belt of green across it. Both of his hands had two clawed fingers, with three long leaves on his wrists. A large leaf was on top of his head, and a pair of twin tail-leaves dangled behind. His powerful legs, carrying him faster than before had birdlike feet.

The arm leaves glew a bright green colour, extending out into circular blade shapes. With a spinning leap, he smashed the leaf blade on to Claydol's arm, using it as a pad to push himself up even higher. Landing on the clay doll Pokémon.

His arm-leaves returned to normal as the entire limbs glew a brighter green. In quick succession he began hacking away on top of their opponent.

Camerupt cried out, glowing red again. Launching out another powerful eruption but right over her partner.

A sort of semi-invisible force field formed around the ground psychic type with Grovyle on the outside. In the blink of an eye, he shot off moments before the eruption rained down over them.

Grovyle came to a stop right next to Max, panting heavily. Burn marks still visible from the flame burst before his evolution.

"Grov, Grovyle," he uttered.

"Tad lo," the water grass type gave a single, small, nod.

Picking the water weed Pokémon up, he tucked him under his arm before taking off. Multiple Grovyle formed around, with some charging the two differing opponents. Due to Lotad not being visible, even Max couldn't make out the real one.

Shooting out a flamethrower and ancient power respectively. Courtney's two Pokémon made each copy disappear out of sight.

With the final one appearing on top of Claydol's head. Holding Lotad out, the small Pokémon unleashed massive water gun straight down into the humps on Camerupt's back. As Grovyle shut his eyes, absorbing balls of energy from the ground psychic type.

Diving down off the opponent, he tucked Lotad under one arm and spun headfirst. Smashing his head lead onto Camerupt, it gave the push to clear her.

A wave of psychic type energy followed. Smashing into the volcano Pokémon, as she shielded both Grovyle and Lotad.

The pure grass type hopped his way back towards them, panting as Camerupt was recalled. He carefully placed Brock's water grass type down.

"Flygon... Leader Maxie needs... the wish maker... so... get them..." Courtney commanded.

Grovyle winced but turned around. Stepping forward, he straightened his posture, taking up a battle stance against the two dual ground types.

When the weird oven-looking Pokémon from before smashed down through the ground between them.

"Erm," he raised his hand, unsure what to say.

Absol landed next to Grovyle and gave them a hard glare. With a small nod of the head, he turned back towards their opponent as a red light sucked his previous opponent back into it's Pokéball. With all four Pokémon stalking slowly towards each other.

Flygon charged off forward. Blowing dust up by the tail wind as it closed in on the two defending Pokémon.

The horn on top of the dark types head glew white. Swinging his head as he ran, he sent multiple slashes through the air.

Swaying to the sides, the mystic Pokémon avoided them. With the covered eyes widening.

Ash's pure grass type appeared directly in front. Smashing a leaf blade down on her head, he used the moment to push himself up and onto her back.

A green outline surrounded the ground dragon type, as it turned upwards. Ascending to the sky, Grovyle struggled to hold on as semi-transparent soundwaves vibrated off them. A loud screeching noise echoed all around, causing him to kneel over, clutching his ears.

Glancing up, he watched as the wood gecko began to fall down. With the insectoid Pokémon looping around, following closely. The large wings glew white.

Easily catching up, she clapped her wings into the newly evolved grass type. Leaving him to smash into the ground as she levelled out her flight.

Absol blinked in front of her, smashing his claw down as it was covered by dark type energy. Using her head as a step, he leaped over, summersaulting.

His head piece glew white and with a flick of his head, he sent a razor wind down. Striking the wings on the back, Flygon wobbled, crashing into the floor.

He used the opening to run forward to Grovyle. The wood gecko's eyes were half open, as he winced. Struggling to sit up.

"You need to rest, Grovyle," Max muttered, but the newly evolved Pokémon didn't seem interested.

"Vyle... Grovyle," he replied, panting heavily.

"You... you want to protect us?" Jirachi telepathically translated. Instead of giving a verbal response, he simply nodded his head, attempting to stand up.

An explosion drew his attention as he watched Absol dance around Claydol. The ground psychic type held the floating arms out, each shooting a blast of condensed electricity towards the dark type. While none hit the target. They exploded upon contact with the ground, causing chunks of earth to rain down.

With a mighty cry, Flygon took off from the ground. A little shaking getting back into the air, she launched out flame throwers after the same target.

"Absol can't keep this dodging up forever," Max muttered, "and they're using moves the other either is immune to or hardly affected by in case of friendly fire."

"I know what to do," Jirachi declared.

Before he could ask any questions, the wish maker floated high into the sky. Glowing a bright white colour, a second dot appeared in the sky.

It didn't take him long to figure it was the millennium comet, but it shouldn't be visible during the day. A white ball of energy shot out of the psychic steel type and down into Grovyle. Glowing with a mystic healing light, he slowly made his way back to his feet.

Jirachi slowly started to fall back down, as Max stood up, arms wide open. A loud cry drew his attention as Flygon came into view.

It snatched the legendary out of the air and away from the ground. Taking a wide turn to head back towards his trainer.

"Jirachi!" Max cried.

A water torpedo shot down out of the sky, smashing into the dragons back. Wobbling from the impact, Kabutops appeared riding her.

With his scythes glowing bright white, he led them forward around her neck. With a quick swipe, she began to fall towards the earth at a high speed.

Entering another aqua jet, he took off. Circling underneath, he shot straight beneath the falling dragon a second before she crashed. Landing right in front of him, the fossil Pokémon stood tall with the exhausted wish maker in his arms.

"Claydol!" the female commander shouted.

Looking back across the field, he watched the clay doll Pokémon float forward as she recalled the fallen dragon.

Kabutops stepped forward as well, joining Grovyle in a line of defence. As Absol leaped down to his opposite side. The three male Pokémon glanced between themselves. A sort of silent conversation going on between them.

"Did I... do good?" Jirachi asked.

"Yeah... you really helped Grovyle out," he smiled, "but why can I see the comet now?"

"I drained the last of it's energy to pass into a wish to Grovyle..." the wish maker explained, "but absorbing that much energy changed its trajectory to home in on this location. Instead of passing over, it'll crash down here."

"But won't that be dangerous?" he asked, "like won't it destroy this area?"

"Without the energy protecting it, the atmosphere will break it up. Raining rocks will be dangerous but no serious impact," Jirachi paused with a massive yawn, "I'm sleepy now. Nighty-night."

Cradling the sleeping legendary in his arms, he turned his attention forward. Grovyle took off to one side, spewing out a barrage of bullet seeds into the single remaining Pokémon. While Absol took off to the other side, launching out a series of razor winds as he run.

Kabutops shot forward, surrounding his body in water. Two beams shot to either side, aiming for the first two Pokémon as the rock water type smashed into it's torso. Delivering a series of swift slashes, falling down it's front.

Claydol redirected the two arms to either side of Serena's shellfish Pokémon. A massive ball of electricity formed around him. Shooting out in a beam, he was sent flying through the larger charge beam. Smashing into the ground behind them.

Grovyle leaped up onto one of the arms, slashing down through the charge beam with a leaf blade... but it was already too late.

Landing on one knee in front of the massive beast, he never saw it coming. Claydol redirected one of his arms, shooting out a beam with a red outline and a tint of bug type energy. It landed directly on Grovyle's back, sending him flying right over to them.

Absol tried to night slash from the top, but it spun around. Sending him forward into the ground.

Aiming both of it's arms, two single beams struck the disaster Pokémon. Blasting him over to them as well.

Max fell to his knees as he looked towards the three Pokémon who were quickly dismissed off. Even after the healing, guess they weren't brought back to peak condition. His eyes locked with Lotad as a massive shadow covered them once more.

"Now finish them with hyper beam!" she commanded.

A bright light formed between the ground psychic types arms. His mind went blank as he held his breath.
