First off, many thanks to those who reviewed this fic, I really appreciated it and this gave me inspiration to work on the next chapter and here the current story arc picks up where the last chapter left, in which Naegi and Kirigiri are going to commence on their next mission, and as you figure ut out, they are going to investigate a missing person case which involves a circus, and this arc is inspired from the Konami game, Circus Charlie, which appeared in the Nintendo Entertainment System, or Famicom in Japan, and here Naegi is about to get embroiled and expect some hilarious moments in thus chapter, since the motif of this arc is...well...the circus, so read on and enjoy

At outer space, the scene shifts inside the UFO, and there Ophani and Cherubi are watching the monitor where they saw Kirigiri and Naegi are heading to some place, and they knew that Naegi is about to use the red suit to do a good deed, though Cherubi is feeling that Naegi has attracted another mischief yet Ophani told him not to jump to conclusions and instead urged him to observe first before saying anything towards Naegi.

"You should observe first before you judge him…"

"I already have…that boy is attracting another trouble…"

"Makoto Naegi is going to do another good deed…"

"True…but up until now he hasn't…"

"Be patient, cherubi…"

"Look, Ophani, I…"

"Why don't you have more faith in that boy…?"

"Who are you to…"

As the two aliens are bickering again, Seraphi came and told the two to stop arguing over such trivial matters and said he has complete trust in Naegi, and reasoned that nearly six months have passed and Naegi has proven that he has never used the suit for personal gains, and that is proof that he has made the right decision in choosing Naegi as the user of the suit, but Cherubi cautions him not to get too complacent as he is still unsure if Naegi can be trusted.

"Seraphi…don't be so rash…!"

"?"

"We don't know for sure if that Naegi is…"

"Calm yourself, Cherubi."

"But…!"

"Have faith in him…I believe he is the key to…"

"You shouldn't be too complacent…!"

"Fear not, Cherubi…"

Seraphi told Cherubi to have faith as the fate of their planet lies on how Naegi is able to carry himself, and once Naegi is proven to be capable of saving Earth, then he will ask him to save their alien planet, and Cherubi reluctantly heeded Seraphi's word.

Believe It Or Not by Joey Scarbury
(Opening Song from The Greatest American Hero)

Look at what's happened to me,
I can't believe it myself;
Suddenly I'm up on top of the world,
Should've been somebody else.

Believe it or not,
I'm walkin' on air,
I never thought I could feel so free;
Flyin' away on a wing and a pray'r,
Who could it be?
Believe it or not, it's just me.

Just like the light of new day,
It hit me from out of the blue;
Breakin' me out of the spell I was in,
Makin' all of my wishes come true.

Believe it or not,
I'm walkin' on air,
I never thought I could feel so free;
Flyin' away on a wing and a pray'r,
Who could it be?
Believe it or not, it's just me.

Ch. 82: Sākasu

At an unspecified location within the streets of Tokyo, the scene shows that Kirigiri is driving the car and Naegi is the passenger, and they are on their way towards the circus where the DSC assigned her to find a missing person who works at the circus, a Russian-born Serbian national named Piotr Nikolaivitch, and there she told Naegi her mission and he was somewhat sympathetic as the case is normally the job of the police and it was quite an ordinary case but he tries to cheer her up using his optimism saying this could be a blessing in disguise, something which Kirigjri seemed to disagree.

"Look at the bright side, Kirigiri-san…"

"…"

"At least you get to have a case to investigate…"

"Is that supposed to make me feel better…?"

"Well…you were assigned to a case…then that means that you will have the chance to prove yourself…"

"Even if I do, I doubt I would be given a commendation since the current DSc head assigned to this case just to spite me and my family."

""Well…try to look forward to this…I'm ure something good would happen…"

"…"

The two teens argued a bit but his optimism seemed to have cheered her up a bit and she decided to accept this challenge and they continued to travel until they arrived at their destination, and Naegi was awed as this was the first time in nearly a decade that he set foot again at a circus, and on top of that, it was an international circus that is traveling around the world, and he was a bit excited though she cautions him that they are here to find answers about the missing person that is connected to the circus, and they both went in, where they walked around, where they noticed a lot of things in the circus:

- jugglers practicing

- midgets walking around in make up

- clowns

- elephants and their trainers

- acrobats

- lion and tiger tamers

- penguin trainers

The two teens walked around and sees that the people here are doing their usual routines and Kirigiri came across a female elephant trainer and showed her detective badge and asked her something as Naegi listens on as she asks for Piotr Nikolaivitch

"Excuse me…"

"Oh, hi. Welcome to the circus…I'm sorry we are still in rehearsal…we will open in a few days from now…"

"It's okay…we came to ask you something…"

"Sure…go ahead…"

"We would like to see a certain person…he works here…"

"Really?"

"Yes…his name is Piotr Nikolaivitch."

"Öh, that…"

The female trainer points to a nearby tent, saying that the tent is where Piotr usually hangs out, and Kirigiri thanked her as she and Naegi left, and he noted that the performers here are foreigners, most of them are of European descent and a few American ones. As they arrived, they found the name of the tent's owner, which belonged to Piotr, and both went inside, and noted that his personal belongings are intact as well as his circus wardrobes, and as Kirigiri began examining the items, Naegi looked around as well, and there Kirigiri asks him if he has the red suit, which he said he is wearing it underneath his academy uniform.

"Naegi-kun…"

"Yes?"

"Do you have it?"

"Hmm…?"

"The SUIT?"

"Yeah…I'm wearing it…"

"Good."

"Why?"

Kirgiri then suggests that he take off his academy uniform and reveal the red suit so that he would BLEND in within the circus so that he won't be suspected of being a snooper, and he sweat-dropped as he figured that she has a point so he took off the uniform and revealed that he is wearing the red suit and cape, and there he went to the dressing table where the clown paraphernalia is, and he took a clown wig and holds it, and tries to get a VIBE in order to find a clue, but so far there is none.

"Hmm…"

"Well, Naegi-kun…?"

"So far there's no VIBE…"

"I see…"

"Well, it might take a while…"

"It is fine."

"Hold on, Kirigiri-san…I think I'm getting something…"

"Huh?"

By then he saw a match and touched it, where he gets a holographic projection which shows a condominium-type building, and a man in his 30's walking back and forth, and though he loses the image, he managed to get little information about what he saw and told Kirigiri that the image he saw maybe connected to the missing clown case, and Kirigiri asks if he managed to deduce the name if the man that Naegi saw.

"We're you able to identify him?"

"Yes, Kirigiri-san…and I'm not sure yet, but I think he may be connected to this Piotr guy…"

""Were you able to pinpoint the location?"

"So far…"

"What is he like?"

"Sort of like a foreigner…though his face has a hint of being an Asian or sorts…"

"Can you identify him, Naegi?"

"Give me a minute…"

Kirigiri was told that the name of the man that Naegi saw is identified as certain Bismarck Ang-Lee, and said that he is a mix of Asian and European descent, and she took note of this and said that she will investigate him and the building, and as she checked the match that Naegi found, she noted the engraving has the name of a dating service, and she finds it peculiar, yet she decided to check it out anyway, and told Naegi to try and gather info regarding Piotr, and call her if he find anything that may have some connection to the case.

"Okay, I'll be heading there…"

"Hmm…okay…"

"You stay here and see if you can find anything?"

"Uh…"

"And try to stay calm if you encounter anything unexpected…try to come up with an alibi in case people here fins you suspicious…"

"Seriously…?"

"Yes."

"…"

As Kirigiri took her leave, Naegi began wandering around the tent to see if he could gather some clues, though he felt awkward that he is here wearing the red suit and wondered if going undercover here would help, and though he finds it a nice way about the thought of working here, he realized that he may not get a job here due to the fact that it is an international circus and he needed a passport to do so, and as he continued to look around, he came across a drawer where clown costumes are stored, and as he looked at it, a woman, in her mid-20's, came, and she appeared to be of Russian descent and approached Naegi, and he is at loss as to how he would explain that he is here to look for Piotr Nikolaivitch.

"Excuse, young lad…"

"!"

"Can I help you with something…?"

"Er…yes…?"

"Are you…?"

"Oh, uh..yes…Mr. Nikolaivitch told me to meet him here…said that he would help me get a part-time job in this circus…"

"Oh! I see! You must be the one Piotr told me about! The human cannonball performer!"

"Uh…yes…that's the one…Mr. Nikolaivitch said he would teach me how to…FLY out of a cannon…ha-ha-ha…"

Naegi is a but bewildered when the woman believes that he is a new performer and that she assumes that he us the performer who will perform the human cannonball, and to avoid having the situation get out of hand, he just nodded and claims that Piotr recommended this circus as a way to get a part-time job, and the woman said that she will talk to the ringmaster and owner on how he would get the job, and Naegi sweat-dropped at the awkwardness he got in, and the woman began complimenting Naegi at how NEAT the red suit is, and he laughed nervously as he couldn't tell her that he res suit is a real alien costume and he just ride along with the compliment.

"A very neat costume, young lad…almost like a real thing…"

"A-ha-ha…yeah…I look silly, don't I…?"

"Of course not…it is perfect."

"Really?"

"Of course…that will be your costume in the cannonball performance…"

"…"

"Come with me…I will introduce you to the ringmaster…and see if he could give you a temporary job…"

"Okay…"

The woman then invited Naegi to come with her as she will introduce him to the circus owner so that he would get a part-time job and he reluctantly accepted, mentally wishing that Kirigiri is here to help him bail out of this situation, as he wondered how he got himself into thus kind of situation, and wondered how he would survive thus craziness as he is about to meet with the circus owner.

At outer space, the scene shifts to the UFO, and there Ophani and Cherubi are watching the monitor where they saw Naegi walking around the circus wearing the red suit and is seen by some of the circus performers, and Cherubi is dismayed and apprehensive at what the Luckster us doing, risking exposure of the red suit, but Ophani urges him to remain calm as she believes that the circus performers have not suspected Naegi of anything, yet Cherubi is considering doing something to prevent the situation from spiraling out if control but Ophani objected.

"Cherubi…calm yourself!"

"I can't! That boy is putting so much at risk!"

"Look carefully…the Earthlings have not suspected anything!"

"That boy is attracting trouble!"

"No ,he is not…"he is going undercover…"

"I cannot take any more of this…!"

"Do not do anything foolish!"

"Do not stop me, Ophani!"

As the two aliens are bickering again, Seraphi came and told the two to stop arguing over such trivial matters and said he has complete trust in Naegi, and reasoned that there is a reason that Naegi is doing this and believes that it is part of his current mission and calmly told Cherubi not to act rashly and observe the scene first before doing anything, but Cherubi said he is worried at what Naegi would do exposing the red suit to prying eyes but Seraphi said he will address the matter should the situation goes out of control.

"Calm yourself, Cherubi."

"But…"

"All is fine."

"But, Seraphi…you just…"

"I have been watching the whole time…so far everything is in order. Do not let worry and apprehension cloud your decision."

"…"

"Have faith in that boy…he is doing things benevolently."

"…"

Seraphi told Cherubi to have faith as the fate of their planet lies on how Naegi is able to carry himself, and once Naegi is proven to be capable of saving Earth, then he will ask him to save their alien planet, and Cherubi reluctantly heeded Seraphi's word.
