First off, many thanks to those who reviewed this fic, I really appreciated it and this gave me inspiration to work on the next chapter and here the current story arc picks up where the last chapter left, in which Naegi is having a hard time fitting in the circus, yet he unintentionally attracted the attention of a circus performer as she mistook him for a circus applicant and he gets embroiled in and is about to meet with the circus owner and the hilarity ensues, while Kirigiri is on her way to do her own investigation and she would soon find herself facing somethin she did not exoect to happen, so read on and enjoy!

At the circus, the scene shows that the Russian woman is showing Naegi around the circus, where the performance would be held, which tents are to be used, and several training tents where his training would be at should he land the job, and even showed to them the performers, most of them being European and a few American descent, and she said that he will surely fit in and get along with the other performers, which Naegi laughed nervously, saying that thus is his first time coming here.

"Ha-ha-ha…I feel kind of nervous…"

"Oh, that is alright…this must be your first time…"

"Yes…it is…"

"Oh, I am sure you would get used to this…"

"I hope so…"

"And everyone here are good and kind…I am sure you would get along well with them…"

"I see…"

"…"

As Naegi and the woman continued to walk, some of the performers glanced at Naegi, noting that he may be a rookie and expects that he won't last in thus circus, as well as noting how SILLY he looked when they saw him wearing the red suit and cape.

"A new applicant…?"

"He appeared to be one…"

"He won't last long…"

"Really?"

"And what is wit that outfit?"

"Japanese people are sure looking like idiots…"

"He thinks he can make it big here?"

"He will surely be booted out sooner…"

As Naegi and the Russian woman went on, two men, who are also of Russian descent, are looking very intently at Naegi, intrigued that someone so young has come here to try and perform, and they kept a keen eye on Naegi until the Luckster is out of their plain sight and they went on with their business, showing that they too are performers working at the circus.

Believe It Or Not by Joey Scarbury
(Opening Song from The Greatest American Hero)

Look at what's happened to me,
I can't believe it myself;
Suddenly I'm up on top of the world,
Should've been somebody else.

Believe it or not,
I'm walkin' on air,
I never thought I could feel so free;
Flyin' away on a wing and a pray'r,
Who could it be?
Believe it or not, it's just me.

Just like the light of new day,
It hit me from out of the blue;
Breakin' me out of the spell I was in,
Makin' all of my wishes come true.

Believe it or not,
I'm walkin' on air,
I never thought I could feel so free;
Flyin' away on a wing and a pray'r,
Who could it be?
Believe it or not, it's just me.

Ch. 83: Paraguraidā de no Purourā

Much later, the Russian woman introduced Naegi to the circus owner, who is also a foreigner, and he is both intrigued, and skeptical, that the Russian woman said that Piotr invited Naegi to try out at the circus and that he is choosing to perform as the human cannonball, and he glanced at Naegi from head to toe, and glanced at the red suit and cape, and he is thinking if he should hire him seeing that his youthful appearance might attract customers and asks him if he us really interested in working here at the circus and said he might give him a raise if his performance would be a hit, and Naegi, trying to come up with something, said that he is willing to learn and that he is a fairly good tumbler.

"…and that is that, sir.."

"Hmm…Naegi, is it…?"

"Yes…"

"Are you experienced in doing stunts like a cannonball performer?"

"Well…I am a fairly good tumbler…"

"Really?"

"Yes…"

"Well…"

The circus owner told Naegi to wait as he said that he will think about it, and told the Russian woman to give Naegi a tour, in which she nodded and began to give Naegi a tour of the circus, and the two left the office and Naegi is starting to wonder when is Kirigiri coming back, as he feel that he is slowly getting out of place, and he is mentally holding on as he is starting to run out of ideas on how to deal with the situation and is wondering if he would end up working part time at the circus.

Meanwhile, at the condominium-like building, Kirigiri is waiting, for hours as the receptionist said that the person she is looking for, Bismarck Ang-Lee, has not yet arrived, and she patiently waited at the lobby, and time went on until the time now is 19:00, and Kirigiri asks the receptionist if Bismarck has arrived, and the receptionist said he has, about five minutes ago, and said that his room unit is at the 14th floor, and she noted that the building is 18 floors, and she asks the receptionist which room Bismarck is.

"Miss…would you care to tell me which unit is Mr. Ang-Lee is staying?"

"May I know the reason why?"

"I am a detective."

""Really?

"Here is my badge…"

"…oh, I see…okay, here is the unit number…"

"Thank you…"

"You're welcome…"

Kirigiri thanked the receptionist as she went to the elevator and went to the 14th floor and arrived at room 1405, and pressed the door bell and the person opened it and there she saw the person she is looking for, Bismarck Ang-Lee, and there she showed her detective badge, and Bismarck lets her in, and there he asks her what is the purpose of the visit, and Kirigiri began asking him if he knows someone named Piotr Nikolaivitch, the dating service that she found on the match, and if he knows anything about his disappearance.

The scene shifts outside where it zoomed onto the rooftop where two men, dressed in black arrived, using paraglide, and used ropes to rappel themselves downward, as if they are heading towards a certain unit, and the scene shifts to Kirigiri, where she is asking Bismarck again, and Bismarck denied any knowledge about what she is asking, claiming that he does not know anything about what she is asking.

"I am sorry, Miss Kirigiri…but I do not know anything about what you said…"

"Are you sure?"

"Yes."

"I see…"

"I am sorry, but I have no knowledge about your claims, so I cannot help you in anything…"

"I see…I shall take my leave. I apologize for disturbing you…"

"Oh, it is okay."

"I shall be going…"

Seeing that he does not appear to know anything, Kirigiri apologized and leaves, and as she left, Bismarck closed the door, as if he is sighing in relief that she left, implying that he do know something and he is hiding something vital, and by then the two men crashed through the window, surprising Bismarck, and outside, Kirigiri heard the sounds and went back to the unit, and tried to open the door but is locked, and inside, the two men beats up Bismarck until he is knocked out, and the two men head back to the window and used the ropes to climb up to the rooftop.

"We have him…"

"Yes…and no one is around…"

"Let's go…someone may have heard the commotion…"

"Yes…we need to get back up…"

"Hold on to him…"

"Right."

"Can your paraglide be able to…?"

"Not a problem…"

Kirigiri forced her way through and got in, and saw the broken window and peered, where she saw the two men are climbing up, and she immediately leaves the room and went to the emergency stairs which leads to the rooftop, and while she is at it, the scene shifts to the circus where the Russian woman is giving Naegi the tour, until he gets a holographic image of the incident at the building, and he said that he will come back tomorrow

"So you will be back tomorrow…?"

"Yeah…"

"Why are you on a hurry…?"

"Um…I have to get…home…to clean my room…"

"Really?"

"Yeah…but definitely…I'll be back tomorrow…"

"Very well…"

"See you."

The Russian woman was a bit bothered at Naegi's sudden departure yet she keeps a keen eye on him until he is out of sight and she turns around and head back to her tent, and as Naegi leaves the circus, and as he is out from everyone's sight, he ran, jumped, and flew, as he is heading to the scene to assist Kirigiri.

At the rooftop of the building, Kirigiri arrived, and saw the two men are boarding the paraglide and she attempts to stop them, but one of the men engages her to a combat, and despite her skills in martial arts, she was taken aback at the man's agility and that he is shown to have acrobatic skills and managed to find an opening and kicked her back, and he went to the paraglide to fly off, and yet Kirigiri got up and tries to stop him, managing to grab his foot, but the man jumped and the paraglide began carrying him, Kirigiri held on, but the man kicked her and she lost her grip and is falling down.

By then Naegi arrived and saw the scene, but saw Kirigiri falling down and he flew towards her as he tries to reach her, seeing that she is falling down from a rather great height and he told her to hang on as he is reaching her and she extends her hand for Naegi to grab her.

"Kirigiri-san!"

"Naegi!"

"Hang on!"

"…"

"Grab my hand!"

"I'm trying!"

"I got you!"

"…"

Naegi managed to reach her and tries to fly up, but he quickly loses control and the two slowly ended up towards a huge garbage bin and he shifted his weight so he would take the impact, and it worked, as Naegi took the brunt and the red suit protected him, but as they got out of the garbage bin, he saw Kirigiri's left temple was busted open, and she is bleeding, which trickle down to her left shoulder, and he helps her up as he said that she needs to go to the hospital to patch up her wound.

"Are you okay?"

"Yes, Naegi-kun…"

"You're bleeding…"

"…"

"You need to go to a hospital to patch up your wounds…"

"Very well…but you will have to drive."

"Eh? Me?"

"Yes. You."

Kirigiri agreed and said that Naegi would have to drive and he sighed, yet he agreed and began driving, while Kirigiri is holding cloth and is using it on her forehead to stop the bleeding, and while on their way to the hospital, he told her that he unintentionally was introduced to the circus owner and said that the owner is willing to hire Naegi, in which he is assigned as the human cannonball, and she glanced at him seeing that this was quite a risk, but then sees this as a good opportunity.

"I see. This is a good opportunity."

"Really?"

"Yes. It appeared that the circus may be involved in this caper."

"How so?"

"Those men I encountered…they are more than just acrobats."

"How?"

"Aside from being able to use the paraglide, they were good in tumbling and the sort…they even evaded my attacks."

"No way…"

Kirigiri said that the men she encountered at the rooftop may be from the circus, given how acrobatic they were and that they rappel from the rooftop towards the 14th floor just to abduct Bismarck, and suggests that the two men are highly trained, and said that Naegi going undercover at the circus is a good opening, and told Naegi to try to get info on where Piotr Nikolaivitch is, and Naegi just nodded as they are on their way to the hospital.

To Be Continued... .
