A/N: The last of the Recollections as I discontinued this story after publishing this chapter. Afterward, we'll begin wrapping up Arc IV. Thank you all for sticking with my editor and I. It was a blast writing this Arc.

Here's to more success.

The Alexandra family, much to Xan's surprise, welcomed the group with open arms. Sure, he just saved their eldest child's life, and Taki has known Sophitia for years. But that only accounted for two of the group. When Taki and Xan returned to Sophitia's house, Kin was inside while Baba talked with Amy. Sophitia spoke with Rothion, who did not have a look of worry. Pyrrha was now awake as she held her mother's hand.

"Sheesh, it's like nothing happened in the past half an hour."

"Indeed. When Inferno doesn't want them to suffer, they're a happy family. I will scout the city for more threats and contact you if I find any."

Xan could only get out a simple nod before Taki disappeared. *Tch* "Ninjas."

He walked towards the entrance, where Sophitia and the others were conversing.

"Xan!" Sophitia called for him. "Over here!"

He approached them. "This was the man who saved Pyrrha's life, Rothion."

Rothion had black hair that flowed down to his neck. He had smoke marks over his face and smelled like he bathed in coal in an apron befitting a Blacksmith.

"I wish Taki told me of this before we went to Hualin. We could've been spared the awkward conversation."

"I cannot thank you enough for saving my daughter, Xan. I am Rothion, Sophitia's husband."

"Well, you already know of me, so I won't waste your time. Also, it's nothing. I'm just doing what I think is right. But to think that Inferno would go as far as to plague children. He must be stopped."

"Yes, your friend Baba told me of your situation. It must be rough for you."

"A heavy burden to bear, to say the least. But I try to stay ahead."

"Please, come inside and relax."

"I thank you."

Inside they went. When Xan got settled, he pulled out his Holy Stone fragment before using his knife to chip a piece off and wrapped it around a rope-like fabric. Soon enough, he made a Dvapara-yuga fragment necklace.

"Little Pyrrha! Come here for a second."

Pyrrha let go of Sophitia and shyly walked towards him. Xan, while annoyed, understood why she was fearful of him. He dressed and looked nothing like a good person despite his good intentions. Plus, the scar Raphael gave him did nothing to help. He ended up putting his mask on for the time being.

"Bow your head. I have to place something over your neck."

Pyrrha complied and bowed. Xan placed the Holy Stone necklace around her neck. "This will make sure that woman and her friends will never come after you again. Never take it off. Okay?"

Pyrrha nodded frantically.

"Pyrrha, thank Xan for saving you."

"Umm..." Pyrrha bowed her head. "T- Thank you, Mister."

"It's nothing, child. You may leave now. I can tell you feel anxious around me."

"Yes, Mister."

She scurried back to her mother. Baba, who watched the entire thing, sat next to him. "Yeesh. Are kids that afraid of you?"

"Do I look like a person who kids will like? Don't answer. It was a rhetorical question."

"Come now, Spectre. Amy likes you."

"She's sixteen. And when she met me, I looked less intimidating."

"Really? I thought it was because of your outgoing personality. I mean, you're pretty deep, Spectre."

"Am not."

"Are too."

"Am not."

"Are too."

"Am not."

Kin then arrived and pulled up a chair. "I agree with Baba-kun, Spectre. You are an intriguing fellow."

"You have an aura that gives people around you courage that they never knew they had. And you're truthful to yourself, unlike the group I used to associate myself with. I cannot believe I used to be a member of a group like the Force."

"What's in the past should stay there. Look at the people you hang around now. A Deadman, a Barbarian turned Scholar, a Ninja, and a little girl who was a Vampire. We're all weird in our own way."

"Say, Xan. Are you expecting more people?"

"No, Sophitia. Why do you ask?"

"Because I see Seong Mi-na, another girl, and a young man approaching the door."

"Oh, crap."

And in came the trio of Seong Mi-Na, Yun-Seong, and the girl Kin and Xan met a year and a half ago.

"Mi-Na. What are you doing in Greece?"

"We were sent by the Korean army to find and take you back to Korea. I initially didn't want to do it, but Yun-Seong insisted."

"Yea, you defeating me back in China was a fluke victory! I came to make sure you knew that."

"Doesn't explain how you found us."

"Oh, Taki-san told us of your location. We didn't tell her of our intentions, though."

"What does Korea want with me? Half the world thinks I'm dead. Why else would Mitsurugi use my moniker?"

"We told the general that you are alive. He wants you to answer for your crimes against Korea."

Xan pointed towards Pyrrha, who looked horrified. "Mi-Na, not in front of the child. Besides, no amount of training can be done to make defeating me a possibility. You're in over your head, kid. As usual."

"Am not! I was taught by the great Seong Han-Myeong! Korea's number one swordsman! Prepare for defeat!"

"Really? Well, I was trained by Edgemaster, the greatest Weapon Master in the world. I will tell you this now and will tell you again when you lose. You will never best me."

Xan stood up and motioned for Yun-Seong to go outside. Everyone followed them as Yun-Seong already started to attack before Xan could get his O-Katana unsheathed. However, he effortlessly dodged his strokes and landed a kick in his gut. With Yu-Seong stunned, Xan pulled out his O-Katana and immediately rushed with merciless abandon. Xan noticed Seong Mi-Na about to interfere, but before she could, Baba intercepted her with a punch to the jaw, knocking her out instantly. Xan took the opportunity to stab Yun-Seong in the stomach, kicking the wound after withdrawing the O-Katana. Yun-Seong tried to get up but was too wounded to move.

Xan pointed the blade towards him. "You lose again, kid. Go back to Korea and train some more. And tell Mi-Na when she awakes that there are bigger fish to fry than me facing those crimes. Now beat it."

Shaking the blood off his blade, Xan sheathed it.

"No... We aren't finished yet."

"Do you want me to knock you out? Take a tip from your elders. You aren't worth our time right now and not ready to fight Spectre right now. Knock it off before you scare Pyrrha more!"

Yun-Seong looked around in response. Pyrrha was hiding behind her parents. Kin showed his disappointment, as did the little girl who traveled with him. Sophitia and Rothion were comforting Pyrrha. Baba was furious as Seong Mi-Na remained unconscious.

"I'm going for a walk. If Taki-san comes back, tell her I'm a nomad."

"Will do, Spectre." Xan put his mask down before leaving the Alexandra household.

Yun-Seong was shocked at the humiliating loss. "Why can't I beat him!?"

"Because, you simpleton. You lack the proper motivation. Plus, you were trying to subdue. Spectre would've killed you if we weren't around. Finally, you want Soul Edge, and I don't think he forgot about that. You have a lot to learn about combat, Greenhorn. Spectre has been trained since he was a child. Outclassed is an understatement in your scenario. I'm positive that even little Amy can beat you."

"Can not!"

"Yes, she can. Her path is clear. You're still trying to find yourself. You should spend time getting out of your superior's shadow before tackling a mountain like Spectre. Otherwise, you'll never best him. Now, I'm going to go help Sophitia comfort Pyrrha because of your meddling. She's scared again."

"Again?"

"Spectre just saved her from a crazed servant of Soul Edge," Kin interjected while juggling his bombs. "But because he looks horrifying, Pyrrha's afraid of him."

When the little girl he met a year and a half ago showed her face, she bowed. "I would like to thank you for freeing the village from those thieves."

"Oh, it's nothing, Wind Priestess. They were a bunch of bad apples anyway and were bound to pillage the village whether or not I was there. All it took was a few bombs and a devoted swordsman."

"Oh! My name is Talim. I never introduced myself that year and a half ago."

"Well, Talim. Care to explain to me why you're traveling with the idiot on the floor?"

"I'm helping Mi-Na senpai with making sure he doesn't do anything too rash."

"You're lucky we're resting here, Talim. If we were in a hurry, Baba probably would've killed Yun-Seong by now due to Spectre leaving."

"Noted. So, why are you traveling with Taki-senpai?"

"That's a secret. All I'll say is it involves sealing the Soul Swords away."

"Whoa. Is that even possible?"

"Apparently. When I met Edgemaster a few days ago, I met his most recent disciple in the purifying arts."

Baba came back outside shortly after that statement. "Pyrrha is asleep. Being an alchemist allows me to flex my intelligence."

"Baba-kun, this is Talim. She's a Wind Priestess."

Baba bowed. "Hello, Talim. I'm Baba the Barbarian. But just call me Baba. I thought I would never meet a Wind Priestess in person. You certainly have that air about you."

"Thank you, Baba-san. Your strength most certainly doesn't match your appearance. I can't believe you knocked out Mi-Na senpai in a single blow."

"Being a Gladiator for 3 years will do that. But now I just help when I'm needed. I assume you know Sophitia already?"

Talim nodded in agreement. "We all know her and Taki-senpai."

"So do we. She's currently traveling with us."

"Indeed," Taki responded, appearing from seemingly nowhere. "It's good to see you again, little one."

Talim bowed in respect. "It's nice to see you too, Taki-senpai."

"Say, Baba-chan. Where is Dragon?"

"He went for a walk to vent his anger after Yun-Seong tried to take him back to Korea."

"The Idiot did what? How is he still alive?"

"Hey! I'm right here!"

"I know, idiot. Let the adults speak here."

"He wasn't in the mood, I guess, which is odd. Sophitia said that he had to restrain him from killing Pyrrha's assailant."

"I applaud Dragon for restraining himself. There are bigger fish to fry at the moment."

Soon after saying that, Seong Mi-Na started to wake. Upon seeing Baba, she immediately got an attitude. "Why did you knock me out?"

Baba wiped the dust off her glasses. "Mi-Na-kun. Don't ask such stupid questions."

"We were just doing what we were told, Baba-san. It's none of your business to interfere."

"On the contrary, Mi-Na. Ever since Spectre and I started traveling together, his business has become my business. So, unless you want me to knock you out again, I suggest you shut your mouth. Especially now that your reckless actions have scared a small three-year-old child."

"Seriously, Korean. That was mighty epimethean of ya."

"Epi what?"

"It means to act before you think, Seong Mi-Na. You knew of what Dragon is trying to do and still decided to do something like this? I would be furious if I were in Dragon's position. Baba-chan-"

"Say no more. I'll follow him, Taki-san."

"Thank you."

"I'll go with."

"No. You and I are going to have a talk about those thieves you used to associate yourself with."

Kin sighed in reluctant defeat. "Yes, Taki. As you say."

"If that's settled, I'll take my leave."

"We'll see you shortly, Baba-chan."

"Safe travels, Baba."

"The nerve of those two! They know of what I must do, and they still try to drag me to Korea for crimes I didn't even commit!"

Xan rested in the forest after wandering Athens for a time. He retreated to the woods after being hit on by a certain blonde. While he did appreciate the conversation and her company, he had more important things to do. He was just glad he had someone to vent his anger to. Soon, this extended break would end, and the group would leave Greece for the time.

Where should their next destination be?

He briefly thought of Ostrheinsburg, but that meant traversing through Wolfkrone, and he really didn't want to deal with Hilde right now. However, Xan didn't receive the information he needed from Sophitia yet! He would make sure that was done before leaving. But that possibly could lead to frightening Pyrrha again. It was something he had to do, though. All this focusing on the group's next course of action didn't make Xan notice the blonde he made conversation with within Athens. She followed him here out of concern. When they talked, he had a tone of someone lost, and she wanted to know what bothered him. She found him sitting against an oak tree and called for him. His train of thought quickly dissipated, slightly alarmed.

"Cassandra? Geez, you scared the crap out of me!"

"Sorry, you looked troubled, so I followed you out here."

Cassandra Alexandra of Athens:

Cassandra ran into Xan while he was walking around Athens, and after a quick match at the Eurydice Shrine, they became fast friends. While she doesn't know what Xan is trying to do, Cassadrna does know that she'll be quick to help if need be. Besides, while he may not be aware of who she is, Cassandra knows that Xan saved her sister and Pyrrha. The spar they had was hardly a fair contest. Xan wiped the floor with her, but if he's known for being persistent, then Cassandra is known for being courageous, never backing down.

What lies in her soul is Courage.

"I appreciate the concern, but you don't need to know of my problems, Cassandra."

"But I do. You see, I'm Sophitia's younger sister, whom you saved earlier today. And I know that servant is connected to Soul Edge. I know more than you think."

"Really?"

Enter Baba, who found Xan with relative ease. "I noticed you when we were running towards Sophitia's house. You had a look of concern when we dashed by."

"You followed me too, Baba?"

"No, I was with Sophitia and Rothion. Taki asked me to find you a few minutes ago. It seems I'm getting better at finding you when you leave."

"Yeah, I wonder why."

"Hey, we're partners. I gotta know where you are most of the time to ensure you don't do anything rash. I know you know better, but it doesn't hurt to be sure."

"Who's she?"

"Cassandra, this is Baba, one of my many travel companions. A famous Gladiator turned Scholar, she helps me with my dealings with the Soul Swords."

"This involves Soul Calibur and Soul Edge? Jeez, what did you do?"

"Inferno wants my soul. Elysium wants me to die. Edgemaster wants me to seal them off. That is the heavily abridged version, though."

"Emphasis on heavy. We dealt with some pretty weird stuff coming here, including Xan being hit on by a weapons dealer."

"Ugh, don't remind me. Hualin was fishing for a reason to do something like that."

Cassandra became slightly embarrassed as when they first met, she hit on him. He even called him out on his sleek jawline.

"In the end, I really feel bad for Kin. He actually has to go out with her at the end of our journey."

"We can discuss this more back at Sophitia's house. Taki-san sent me after you."

"A moment, if you please."

The group keened their senses, and sure enough, Lizardman showed from one of the trees. The trio got their weapons ready, but their assailant halted them.

"I mean no harm. I promise."

"You're not rolling your ss anymore," Xan remarked, his hand on his Shamshir. "What are you trying to pull?"

"I've escaped from Soul Edge's influence and have regained my humane senses and morality."

"How can we even believe that tall statement?"

"Because my name is Lizardman no longer. My name is Aeon Calcos of Athens, Greece."

"What?"

"Yes. I was one of the 24 champions Hephaestus had summoned to destroy Soul Edge three years ago. But Soul Edge and Zealots, the God of War, took and robbed me of my memories and transformed me into this creature before you."

"So what caused you to break free of Inferno's hold?"

"When you slew me those months ago. I was remembered by Hephaestus, and he's resurrected me with my clutch on Inferno gone, my memories restored. He told me to find the person who slew me as he knew of a way to restore my human form."

Xan was bewildered and confused. How would he know of a way to revert Aeon's form? He pulled out his Holy Stone fragment, but it didn't shine when someone is sick or malfested. As far the Holy Stone knew, Aeon's soul was as pure as it could be!

"Hmmm."

"What are you thinking, Spectre?"

"I don't know of a way to cure you. But I may know of someone who does. We're going to the Proving Grounds."

"Xan!"

"Spectre!"

"I know. But I have a feeling that Edgemaster may know how to purify Aeon! I have to ask him!"

"Then I'm coming with you! And that's final! You are not changing my mind! What if Aeon tries to attack you? Then what?"

"I'll kill him. It's not like he wants to fight anyway. He came unarmed!"

"The Swordsman's correct. I have come with nothing that can be considered a weapon. I only obeyed Hephaestus's wish."

"Fine. But I will be keeping my eye on you. Cassandra, tell the others we're going to the Proving Grounds."

"Sure, but isn't that in the Himalayas? How are you going to get there so quickly?"

"Edgemaster told me of the shortcuts in every major city on the Eastern Hemisphere, including the one in Athens. We'll take the one here."

"Then I'm tagging along too. Because I honestly don't want to deal with an angry Taki."

"Fair point. I think we'll all be in for the ringer when we return. Let's go."

And the group of four was off to the Proving Grounds.

Back at the Alexandra household, while Sophitia assisted Amy with her swordplay, Taki grilled Kin about The Phantom Force.

"Tell me about the Force."

"First off, Phantom Force is only one of their many names. They go by a plethora of aliases: the Force, The Society, The Unknown, among others. There were only 10 of us. Now, they're only 8 because Greed is dead, and I defected. It would've been 7, but Miser escaped that night."

"You have stated that you were called Number 7 because you were the luckiest thief in the group. What did the other numbers signify?"

"Number 1 belonged to the best Thief in the group who can steal anything he desires - gold, weapons, contracts, women; anything. Being Number 1 also meant you led the Force. Number 2 signified duality and was shared by twins. One stole while the other provided the necessary time. Number 3 had a silver tongue and was a compulsive womanizer. He was also a manwhore, rumored to have slept with 5 women a day. He could easily convince married women to bed him. It made me sick."

"Was he a reason as to why you decided to leave?"

"One of them. Anyway, Number 4 is the thief who's always by the book. When hired, he steals what's been targeted and does nothing more or less. He is very honor-bound and loyal to the contractor. Number 5 signified the need to steal. She only stole to make ends meet. After finishing, she respectably stopped, but Number 1 still considers her a member. Number 6 signifies balance, or in this case, the lack thereof. Miser is Number 6. She breaks as many rules in thievery as she follows. With that in mind, Number 1 can't kick her out because she balances out the morals of a thief."

"Okay. What about you?"

"I was Number 7. Like I said before, I was fortunate. But there was more to it than that. Despite Number 1 being a better thief, I was always the measuring stick. Some of the other members said that if I actually put effort into stealing, I would've been the best. Out of all the thieves, I became the standard. Greed was Number 8, representing the irony of what that number meant. Eight means harmony and balance, yet out of all the thieves, he had the highest body count. Greed had no qualms ending someone's life if it meant finishing the job. I hope he rots in hell. He despised me and held several grudges towards me for being a better thief. It lasted all the way to me being the mediator when someone would gang up on Number 5. Greed was a petty human being."

"Speaking of Number 5, you said that she doesn't steal anymore but is still a member. What does that mean?"

"While she stopped being a thief, Number 1 would welcome her back with open arms if she ever decided to pick up stealing again."

"But you're not a member anymore?"

"Right."

"Why is that?"

"Growing suspicions. Because I never killed anyone, only harmed when needed. I started accepting contracts for minimal pay and stole exclusively from the rich. As a safety precaution, Number 1 kicked me out. Greed wanted me to die as he was suspicious of me telling a group like the Manjitou information about them. I understood the morals, so I never snitched." Kin casually shrugged his shoulders. "At this point, I'm confident I'd get by, but that might just be my luck talking."

"Okay. What about the last two?"

"Number 9 signified a couple of things. She's the complete thief package and embodied what it meant to be one as much as I did. But what she has that I didn't was the power of alchemy. She was a renowned alchemist and would sell potions on the side. Number 10 also signified duality like 2, but in mind. Number 10 was an assassin before becoming a thief. She didn't like to kill and was really down to Earth and kind. But if she had to end someone's life, she wouldn't hesitate. We were friends as I respected her mentality, and she respected my nonchalant attitude toward my jobs. Number 5 is the only member I wish the best for."

"Why did you hate the other members then? And why did the others hate you?"

"Atticus (Number 1.) had a superiority complex and took every opportunity to run down the other thieves whenever they messed up a job, even in the smallest sense. The duo (Number 2.) was slimy and snake-like. They even ratted out the other thieves for money. Like I previously said, Casanova (Number 3.) is a compulsive womanizer and childish whenever he didn't get what he wanted. Arthur (Number 4.) was too by the books for me. He never even touched an enemy while caught and would rather serve jail time instead of having another member pay off the guards to bail him out. Therefore, he never took breaks and was always working. Cat (Number 5.) and I never had problems. She and Number 10 were the only people I considered a friend. I started hating Miser after we started working together. When working alone, I rarely got caught or had to directly confront anyone. With Miser, I ended up getting caught more and had to fight more as a result. I quickly asked Atticus to separate us, and he complied. Greed hated me from my first day and was always suspicious of me. When I started taking jobs from the poor, he made his hatred public to the other members. I also hated him solely because he killed more than he stole for no good reason besides the sheer joy. I've ruthlessly called him out on it on multiple occasions. So the feeling was mutual. Kunimitsu (Number 9.) was a very envious woman and member of the Manjitou. Like the Society, the Manjitou also has a set of rules. One of those is to never kill anyone connected to the client, even out of self-defense. She was a repeat offender of this and was kicked out of the Manjitou because of it. She's held a grudge against Yoshimitsu since then. Assassin (Number 10.) and I never had issues either. During my time with the Society, we were friends, and she hands me information on the group if I ever need it. She was the one who told me of Cat's leaving. The others hated me for being the most requested thief in the group despite not taking my jobs seriously but still doing good enough to get extra pay."

"You got paid extra?"

"I was a damn good thief. But Greed opened his mouth, and Atticus kicked me out due to submitting to his suspicions. I ended forming a group of thieves myself. Still, after meeting Spectre, I disbanded the group and worked for Grandall until I met you both a few weeks ago. And here we are."

Taki quickly absorbed the mountaintop's worth of information.

"Why the interest, Taki? It's not like we'll be confronting them during this journey."

His words couldn't hold any more merit. The Society would never kill another member, Greed being the exception. Yet Kin and Xan slew him a few days prior. For the first time in her life, Taki felt her heart beat faster than when she usually fought a demon. What was it about this former thief that demanded her undivided attention? She still couldn't figure it out, much to her dismay. Sure, she was this inquisitive with Baba, but she was a little sister figure.

"I was merely curious. You are the biggest mystery in this group."

"That would be you, Taki. Despite being a myth, no one knows much about your personal background except you."

That was a lie. Only one person knew of her, and he no longer was among the living. Kin didn't have to know about that.

"No, there is one. But I do not wish to tell you about him. At least, not at the present time."

"You say something, Taki?"

"I didn't say anything."

"Okay, but just because you prefer to stay in the shadows when we travel doesn't make us any more distrusting of you." Kin placed his hand on Taki's thigh. "We're your friends, and if that means it will take a while for you to open up, then we'll be patient."

He couldn't see it, but Taki was blushing softly. 'Am I blushing? What is happening to me? What is this thief doing to me?'

"Taki? Is something wrong?"

"Hmm? Oh, sorry. I got lost in my thoughts. Speaking of lost, what is taking Baba-chan so long?"

"I don't know. But I have faith that they are alright. I feel Baba and Spectre could take on the world if they really wanted."

"I know you're right, but that still makes me worry. Those two, when left alone, attract trouble like a magnet."

Kin agreed. When they traveled to Castle Romania, it was Xan who ran into Raphael and nearly killed him. And Baba was a Gladiator who made a living off of violence. Kin hoped that the possible mess they could get themselves into would be something they could handle.

"What can possibly go wrong?

"So can you restore his humanity, Edgemaster?"

"It will be difficult, but I know of a way that will take some time. Come back in a few hours. Aeon, stay with me."

The now trio turned to leave, but Edgemaster halted Xan. "A moment if you will."

"What's the problem, Edgemaster?"

"Two things and one of them isn't a problem. One, Katti is looking for you. She wishes to teach you something."

"And the second?"

"I feel Elysium's presence near the Alexandra residence. She and her champion."

"What!? We have to go now!"

"No. Not yet. I was meditating when a sudden realization came to me."

"What is that?"

"Have you ever heard the stories of the Hero King Algol?"

"Yeah. He wielded Soul Edge without a problem, bringing peace to the continent of Europe. His son eventually became jealous, stole Soul Edge, and became possessed. Algol killed his son as a means of keeping the peace. But in anger, he and several sages created Soul Calibur at the cost of his life. But what does the Hero King have to do with Elysium?"

"A part of the story that was never told. Half of Algol's soul went inside Soul Calibur, giving her Algol's corrupted lust for power. Therefore, I have come to the conclusion that Elysium can be purified with the Holy Stone."

Xan was dumbfounded! At first, he didn't believe the words that came out of Edgemaster's mouth.

"How is that possible? Elysium is a godlike being. How can one Holy Stone fragment purify her soul when it can't reverse Lizardman's transmutation?"

"Aeon's transformation was done exclusively with magic. Elysium, like Inferno, was created for the most part by man. Her motives are just, as were yours a year and a half ago. However..."

Edgemaster stated in a way where he was egging Xan to finish the sentence... and he did. "But because of the corruption in her soul, her methods aren't!"

"Precisely. Suppose you were to draw Elysium's physical form out and weaken her. In that case, you could purify her soul and gain a powerful new ally."

"That sounds too good to be true."

"But isn't in this case. Now is the perfect chance to do so. Go, you three. Deal with Shun and Elysium. By the time you do so, Aeon will be restored."

"Best of luck, you three."

"Come on, ladies. Let's go."

Back at the Alexandra residence, Shun and Elysium have come and nearly laid waste to the group. Only Taki, Kin, and Sophitia remained to defend the household. Amy put up one hell of a fight, wounding Shun's arm, only to quickly heal with Elysium's influence. Shun stared at a wounded Amy, whom he held in a chokehold in the air with disappointment.

"Poor child. You have surrounded yourself with the wrong people. Not for long as once I've dealt with these peasants, I will lead you to a world of pure perfection."

He dropped Amy to the floor. "Where is the Swordsman? I will not repeat myself."

"Why does that matter to you, Zealot? I thought you were too high to face Xan right now."

"I have decided otherwise. Xan remains my biggest obstacle in allowing Elysium to completely purify the world of malfested."

"You know if you had a shred of common sense, Xan would not be the only problem. Inferno is still lurking, and Zasalamel-"

"Do not speak his name in my presence!"

With a single motion of his Soul Calibur staff, an ice crystal flew directly into Kin's leg. Before Shun could kill him, a voice all too familiar to him rang sharply in his ears.

"Monk!"

Shun turned to see a furious Xan, Baba and Cassandra closely in tow. "Ask, and you shall receive, you treacherous bastard!"

"Who has betrayed who? I merely have the intelligence to choose the winning side in this conflict."

"Really? I bet Elysium knew that Kalina was to die that day, and she never told you."

Elysium then materialized and descended from the sky. "It seems you've survived our previous encounter, Swordsman. I salute your persistence in survival. But while alive, you serve to be my greatest enemy. Well, past my older brother."

Sophitia looked bewildered and confused. "Why do you look so much like me?"

"Because I modeled myself after you, a strong woman. I am paying homage to you and the image you present. You should feel honored, Sophitia of Athens. But back to you, Xan of Osaka. If you continue, to resist I will kill you. Understood?"

"I must be going deaf. You paying homage to a human? If my ears didn't fail, it would seem that the emotionless deity has more honor than her host."

"Quiet, you wretch of man! I'm often bewildered by why I considered us as equals when you are clearly beneath me."

"You, like me, are human. We come, live, die. But you have forgotten your humanity over a promise your goddess will not keep. Kalina is dead. I may have problems with Zasalamel, but if there's one thing I'm envious of him for is that he mentally bested you. Without Elysium? You. Are. Nothing!"

Xan's words had echoed the area of the household. Silence had never struck the Monk harder in his entire life. The influx of emotions he felt started overbearing him once again.

"Quiet! I've had enough of your shallow words! Die, Xan of Osaka!"

The group couldn't see the smirk forming under Xan's mask. This was a moment of weakness he would take full advantage of. Blocking the Soul Calibur with the O-Katana, Xan pushed the Zealot back.

"Where did you gain such strength!?"

"While you were killing innocents, I was relentlessly training with Edgemaster for this day. And there's nothing you or your goddess can do about it."

"You dare to provoke a deity, Swordsman? This day shall be your last!"

"Baba, I need your assistance."

"Say no more. Cassandra, go check on the others."

Baba constructed Phantom Edge and stood beside Xan with a confident smirk. Cassandra rushed towards Amy's unconscious body and picked her up before retreating inside. Elysium landed on the floor and constructed two identical swords with Soul Calibur.

"Oh, haha. You're mocking me now?"

"I thought of how funny it would be to kill you with a style you use to associate yourself with. Isn't it a hoot?"

"I see through your sarcasm, by the way."

The malicious duo rushed Xan and Baba, a fierce clash ensuing. Shun prioritized Xan as he, with no success, tried to land killing blows. The anger was quickly building in Shun. Baba, despite being matched up against the personification of Soul Calibur, was holding her own.

"I acknowledge your skill, Barbarian. May I have your name?"

"You may call me Baba or Barbara. Doesn't matter to me."

"Barbara... You and your partner in this duel are warriors in the truest form. I salute you both."

"Coming from you, that means a lot. If you weren't so corrupt, I feel that Spectre would appreciate the compliment like I am. But this duel is far from over, Elysium."

Elysium playfully snickered in agreement. "I agree. Come, show me more of your peerless skill in combat!"

Meanwhile, Taki, Kin, and Sophitia retreated inside. Taki treated Kin's leg wound as the ice had melted, the crystal piercing the leg completely. Sophitia went to check on Rothion and her children. In contrast, Cassandra went into a separate room to treat Amy's wounds, leaving the pair alone.

"Me and my big mouth huh, Taki?"

"Quiet. I need to focus to properly treat your wound. You should have known better than to bring up Zasalamel in front of the Monk."

"Sheesh, it wasn't that serious. It's merely a leg wound."

"Dragon-chan would be disheartened if you were unable to continue your travels with us. Baba and the little one would be disappointed as well."

"Wait. What about you?"

"I wouldn't be disappointed. Because I will be staying with you."

"That doesn't make any sense. What good would it do you to stay with me? Everyone has their purpose in this journey. Spectre with sealing the swords off, Baba with her book. Even Amy and proving herself to them both as well as Raphael. Me? I'm just a thief down on his luck."

"That may be so. But I'm just a ninja."

"Who has bested Soul Edge before. You're a legend in Japan! Meanwhile, I'm known to no one and nothing. I'm usel-"

Taki couldn't take it anymore and slapped him hard across the cheek in anger and annoyance. If it weren't for the chaos happening outside, Kin would've been convinced that the entire city heard it. He stared in disbelief as Taki's wrathful expression gradually softened.

"You are not useless. You are many things; a jester, a former menace to society, a lowly thief."

"Wow, Taki. Thanks for making me feel better."

"But... You are altruistic, just, and must be some sort of strategic genius. I've never known of another, alive or dead, who can so easily command my undivided attention. How do you do it? Why do I find myself in need of your company? You must know."

"This is the first time I was ever told of this. From what you've been saying, Taki, it sounds like you're falling in love."

"Me? Fall in love?"

Could this be the feeling Taki couldn't get a grip on before? She put all the pieces together. Her interest in every aspect of his life. Unlike Xan and Baba, whom she was only interested more so in Baba. Xan was already notorious for being the Black Dragon of Osaka. Kin's truthful and altruistic caught her attention, which was no easy task. Her reaction when Hualin had asked Kin outback in Shanghai. When he told her of his and Miser's relationship. She couldn't find any other reason.

Kin was right.

Taki's bewildered look softened once again. The stoic, emotionless, duty-prioritizing, Super Kunoichi... had fallen in love. That was something she had entirely accepted. She took off her mask protecting her face, revealing a deep blush before breathing a sigh of relief. It was as if a heavy weight had been lifted from her shoulders.

"Kin... You... You are correct."

"Taki? Wha-"

He just sat there stunned as Taki strode in and laid her lips on top of his. Realizing what was happening, he happily returned the kiss. They parted, and Taki's uncharacteristic blush grew.

"Now hold still while I finish treating your wound... Lover."

"Are you sure about this, Taki? Don't get me wrong, I'm flattered. But I feel like this is too good to be true."

"I have never been more sure in my life, Kin." She closed the distance again. "Whether you like it or not." They kissed again before Taki broke it off. "Your ass is mine now. Until death parts us both."

"Yes, ma'am."

"Good. Now shut up so I can finish treating your wound."

"Okay, Beautiful."

Taki punched Kin's arm. "Ow."

"I appreciate the compliment, but I'm serious. Hold still."

Outside, the battle raged on. While Xan, Baba, and Elysium weren't giving an inch, Shun started to lag behind. The Monk, however, did an excellent job of hiding it. Alas, Xan noticed him slowing down, and using adrenaline, began attacking more aggressively. The plan was to coax Shun into calling for Elysium's help. While she approaches, Xan will wound him deeply. Meanwhile, Baba and Elysium's furious bout continued, neither party slowing down. Baba's intelligent yet barbaric fighting discipline served as the perfect counter to Elysium's graceful savagery, both enjoying themselves.

"Barbara, you continue to impress! I would've never thought that a simple Gladiator would provide this much of a challenge to me."

"You're not so bad yourself, Elysium. Though I wish you would simply fall to the floor so I may marvel over your unconscious body."

"Keep it up, and you might steal this deity's heart. I love women with a warrior's heart. Something about them makes me find them ravishing."

"Sorry to say, Elysium, but my heart belongs to a sweetheart back home in London. But do tell. You love warrior women, you say?"

"Yes, my dear. Haven't you paid attention to my last few hosts? Chai Xianghua, Katti of the Himalayas, even Sophitia Alexandra. I've had a lot more female hosts than male."

"Speaking of male hosts, your current one's getting mauled at this rate. He'll surely die if you don't intervene."

In fact, Elysium turned to see Shun getting slowly cut to pieces by Xan's furious attacks.

"That buffoon! Barbara, we must put our duel on hold. I must go save my idiotic host."

And with near inhumane speed, she rushed to Shun and Xan, Baba following not so closely behind. Shun noticed and started defending more of Xan's attacks while smirking.

"Why the look, Monk?"

"Because your hours are numbered, Swordsman."

Elysium was fast approaching, just like he planned. Xan looked for an instant, Elysium already on top of him, ready to strike! His instincts kicked in as he jumped above Shun as they were prepared to attack. However, due to Xan's masterful dodge, the pair ended up hitting each other in their respected abdomens. After recovering, Xan kicked Shun deeper into Elysium's now blood-soaked blades.

"Now, Baba!"

She was right behind Elysium and struck her down with a gargantuan amount of force with the Phantom Edge. Before she could recover, Baba struck Phantom Edge in Elysium's spine, keeping her in place as Xan did the same with Shun.

"Do it, Spectre."

"I am defeated, Swordsman. Do what you will of me. I have no regrets."

"That may be so, but killing you is something I will not do."

Xan responded as he pulled out the Holy Stone fragment, which glowed with intense light. Elysium removed her mask as she looked in disbelief.

"What will you do to me?"

Xan simply let the Holy Stone enter Elysium's body as it started purifying her soul.

"You, Elysium... Shall be purified."

"At last. Wait... what? What did I say? My soul is already pure! Ahhh!"

Baba, Xan, even Shun couldn't believe their eyes as a dark entity was ripped out of Elysium's body. In desperation, it flew away to an unknown location. The Holy Stone fragment exited Elysium's body with a glow that dimmed before moving over to Shun, purifying his soul in return. Baba put Phantom Edge away as Elysium slowly got up. Another dark entity flew out of Shun and fled. Xan took out the Nodachi, so Shun could rise to his feet.

The battle was finally over. Xan and Baba had won.

Xan took back the Holy Stone fragment and placed it back in his pocket. "How are you two feeling?"

"Better... if not incredibly guilty. The corruption that is Algol's soul has left mine as well as the Monk's being. Many thanks for freeing us both, my love."

"You're we-. Did you just say "my love?"

"Of course. You saved me from further corruption and have stolen my attention and love. My love."

"We'll discuss that later." Elysium wrapped herself around Xan's arm. "And you, Shun?"

"Horrible. I can't believe I committed all those atrocities for a false promise. I'm such a fool."

"I wholeheartedly apologize, Monk. My corruption is to blame for such malicious and deviant behavior. I never meant to sway you so. But I harbor such blame for your atrocities as you. Now we may begin our road to redemption."

Soon enough, Taki and Kin came out while holding each other's hands. Taki used her other to help her man walk around.

"Is the battle done? Sophitia is checking on her family, and Cassandra is taking care of Amy."

"Yeah, Kin. The battle is done. In the process, I purified Elysium and Shun's souls."

"Well done, Dragon. Well enough to ignore giving you both the verbal lashing I prepared for going away for too long."

"Thank goodness."

"Speaking of which, where did you two go?"

"To the Proving Grounds to revert Lizardman's transmutation. Hephaestus freed Lizardman from his slavery-like confinement to Inferno. We should head there to see if the process is done."

"You two go on ahead. I will make sure Kin's wound heals completely."

"I can take care of that, Ninja. Also, I apologize for doing this to your leg, Thief."

"As well as I. Sorry, friend."

Elysium's eyed glowed, the pain in Kin's leg fading away. Soon enough, the injury healed, allowing him to walk as if nothing happened.

"Ahh, that feels better. Thanks, Elysium."

"Ugh. I hate the name I had given myself out of my own self-entitlement. It makes me sick to my stomach to even hear it. You all shall call me Elysium no more. From this point forward, you may call me Claire."

"Fair enough, Claire. Now let's get going."

"I hope you don't mind if I tag along, my love. I wish to talk to Edgemaster about how my soul was corrupted."

"I wish to come along too. I need to apologize for turning my back on him like this."

"If that's what you want, Shun. Let's go."

"It's wonderful that you managed to both purify Elysium's soul and freed Claire, but you also purified Shun's soul. Well done, Xan!"

"Thanks, Edgemaster. Speaking of Claire, can we talk about why she has an attraction to me?"

"Sure. Claire is a true judge of character. Whatever she thinks of you, she'll openly display it as such. Claire looks into a person's soul to see what they need and acts according. Elysium also had that ability, hence why she bonded so easily with Baba. Baba wanted a worthy opponent, and Elysium happily obliged. Claire, what do you see in Xan's soul?"

"What I see is a truthful man in desperate need of companionship. And I will happily serve this need until his last breath."

"Companionship? In what sense?"

Clair then gave Xan a lustful smile. "You know what the connotation is, my love. And it will not be a one-time thing."

"That's horrifying."

"In any case, when Claire chooses a person worthy of her, she does not leave them until that person breathes no more. Claire is one of the godlike beings who experiences emotions like a human does. Hers is miles stronger than most. But that also means they are more truthful and genuine. But enough of my rambling, you wish to see Aeon, yes? It is with great honor to introduce you all to the now human Aeon Calcos."

Aeon Calcos, formerly known as Lizardman:

The group bore witness as Aeon Calcos was once again human! He was 5'11 and weighed 190 lbs with short brown hair that went down to his shoulders. For the time being, he was wearing an emblem-less version of what Edgemaster wore. His torso was well built, most likely retaining his strength from being Lizardman. After reverting back, he refuses to wield the Grudge Ax and Aya Shield. Instead, with the help of Edgemaster, he found the Xi Sword and Game Shield he held as a human. Aeon was ready to help Xan and co. seal off Soul Edge and Inferno for good while battling his own demons in addition to attaining vengeance on the evil lot who turned him into a Lizard.

What lies in his soul is Longing.

"Hello, all. It's good to see you all with human eyes."

"I agree, Aeon. Being a human suits you."

"Yes,. Looking at you now in comparison to your Lizard form makes me want to vomit, at the latter."

"That was a little harsh of you, Claire. If not the truth, the fact that you were a lizard that tall was kind of gross."

"I also agree. My previous form was not safe for everyday life. I'm just glad to be back in my original form. Before I start traveling with you all, I must go make peace with my wife and child. I will join you all in a few days."

Aeon was off, leaving just Edgemaster, Xan, Baba, and Claire.

"Claire."

"Yes, my love?"

"Can you switch into an attire that isn't revealing? If you're going to travel with us, we can't draw a crowd because of your provocative outfit."

"Fair enough. Would you like me to stop speaking like this as well?"

"That would be for the best."

Claire reluctantly let go of Xan's arm (Yes, she had her arm wrapped around his this entire time) as her body started to glow. When the glow disappeared, she no longer had her Absolution gear but rather a lovely off-the-shoulder dress that hugged her curves, wings coiled around her hips. She also added the Kanji for love on her back, the dress only showing the top half. To replace the mask, Claire materialized a pair of glasses with a gold frame and clear lens like Baba's. She wore nothing to cover her legs, only Cuffed Boots. She also changed her hair to a sand brown color, the style being similar to Maxi. The bang, however, covered her right eye. She now has two horizontal stripes of war paint on her face - one a crimson red and a color that matched her hair. Her Irises became a beautiful snow-white, her skin a perfect suntan.

"Is this good enough for you, my love?"

"It will do, Claire."

Claire, the Will of Soul Calibur:

Thanks to the purification of her soul, Elysium has died and was replaced with Claire. Think of Elysium, but not an entitled piece of garbage, and you get Claire. Her feelings are genuine with just motives - her need to sealing off Inferno grand and her love of Xan ever-growing and strong.

What lies in her soul was Malice. But now lies Purification.

"Shun, I offer my hand in training you for this grand battle ahead. Now that we have Soul Calibur on our side, a huge amount of work has been lifted off Xan's shoulders. He, however, will need all the help he can get. Will you accept, Shun?"

"I will. I need to redeem myself for all the problems and lives I've ruined."

"And that will be enough."

"Speaking of ruining lives, I must go reverse everything Elysium has done." Claire then kissed Xan's cheek. "I will be back soon, my love."

She vanished without a trace.

"Sheesh, Spectre. You've gotten quite the catch, huh? A deity is in love with you. This is literally a one in a million chance type of situation."

"What did I do to deserve this?"

"You heard the woman, Xan. You desire long-term companionship, and Claire will deliver." Shun playfully pretended to be lovey-dovey. "She is immortal after all."

"Haha, Shun."

"In all seriousness, Spectre, don't let this be one-sided. As long as I've known you, I don't think I've ever seen you be anything besides angry or horrifyingly dedicated. Keep it up, and you'll probably collapse. You deserve someone like Claire to keep you in check because Lord knows I can't do it forever. We're most likely going to go our separate ways once this whole thing's over."

"Too late. I can't remember the last time I had a good night's rest. I have been fighting sleep since I saved Sophitia and Pyrrha."

"And why, Spectre? The world can wait for you to save it. So as your partner, I'm commanding you to rest."

Xan gave Baba an annoyed look but eventually started to keel over and was ultimately fast asleep. "Man, command alchemy is great."

"I hope he rests well. He had a long day today and worked himself to the bone."

"Ohhh." Claire had returned. "Xan's so cute when he is asleep."

"Are you going to stay with him, Claire?"

"Of course. I never plan on leaving his side, Barbara."

"Good. Take care of Xan because someone has to. I'm heading back to Sophitia's to tell Taki what happened. Also, I got in her and Kin's business because I saw them holding hands when they came outside the house. Hehehehehehe." Baba twirled her hands as she left the Proving Grounds.

"Come, Shun. I will show you where you will be sleeping."

"Right, Edgemaster. I will see you tomorrow, Claire."

"Until tomorrow, Monk."

Edgemaster and Shun had left the room. As soon as they were alone, Claire took her shoes off and got onto the bed next to Xan. She snuggled against him, her arms wrapped around him as she kissed his forehead.

"Here's to a lifetime of happiness, Xan-dono. You need it, and I want it. I hope I make you happy. Sweet dreams."

Xan, who wasn't asleep, encircled his arms around Claire. That made her jolt slightly, but the shock dissipated as she embraced him, the pair falling asleep.

A/N: Since this is the last one and ended on a cliffhanger, we don't know what happened to the group in detail. All we know is that Xan's the sole survivor since Ivy didn't travel with them. I'll explain this when I get to Xan's Kombatant Koncepts since I have a lot of material to work with.

Until next time.
