First off, My heart-felt apologies for the late update! I was struck down with pharyngitis during the first 2 weeks of last month, and after recovering, I was besieged with office work that kept me off the computer and thus my progress was slowed down and got delayed, but nevertheless, I managed to complete it and here it is…the latest chapter.

Second, many thanks to those who reviewed this fic, I really appreciated it and this gave me inspiration to work on the next chapter and here the current story arc picks up where the last chapter left, in which Kirigiri is now scrambling to find a way to escape her assailants after Naegi is gravely injured, and now with the red suit out of their reach, the two Class 78 members must find a way to escape and get the Luckster some medical help, so read on and enjoy!

As the hit man fired his gun to keep Kirigiri grounded, the other hit man sneaked towards the side of the car, and as he finds a perfect target aim, Naegi arrived and saw what the hit man is about to do, and he grabbed the hit man from behind and pulled him away, saving Kirigiri's life, and she is surprised to see him, but also realized that he is now in the middle of a crossfire and told him to get out of the way, fearing that he might get hit by the bullets since he is not wearing the red suit that would give him protection.

"Naegi!"

"Kirigiri-san!"

"Get out of here!"

"I'm sorry for screaming at you! I..."

"Never mind that! Get out of the way!"

"But...!"

"Do it now!"

"!"

However, the other hit man fired his gun and a bullet came flying, and struck a target, though the intended target was supposed to be Kirigiri, yet it struck something else, and it was Naegi, who unintentionally took the bullet that was meant for Kirigiri, and Naegi slowly went numb and fell to the ground, and she dragged him towards the car as the hit man continued to fire, and she grabbed a car key that the other hit man dropped and checked on Naegi, seeing that the gunshot wound is somewhat serious, and blood is beginning to leak out from Naegi's ribs.

"Naegi..."

"Uh..."

"Naegi...are you okay...?"

"Feel...numb...what..."

"You took a bullet that was meant for me."

"S-sorry...I...guess...I was...selfish..."

"Don't talk..."

"..."

Meanwhile, the scene shifts somewhere else, where Sayaka Maizono stood still and felt her body shiver as she sensed that something bad has happened, and she slowly wondered if Naegi is okay, as she knows that he is currently on an ASSIGNMENT and she wondered if he is doing well even though she knows that Naegi is wearing the red suit, and having read his text earlier, she decided to head to the scene of the crime to check on him, and she hailed a taxi and told the driver to take her to the destination of her choice.

"Taxi!"

"Huh? You're Sayaka Maizono! Hey, I'm a big fan of yours!"

"Ah, thanks...but can you take somewhere? It's an emergency!"

"Sure, hop in!"

"Take me to that place."

"Okay, hang tight."

"Thanks."

"Boy, my fellow cabbies are gonna be jealous..."

The driver nodded and Maizono boarded the taxi and the taxi drives away from the park and is heading for the pawnshop, and she has no idea that Naegimis now in danger of losing his life as he and Kirigiri are being pinned down by gunfire at the hands of the German hit men.

Ch. 96: Esukēpu

Somewhere within the prefecture, the scene shifts inside a posh manor, where thr scene zoomed inside, where you can see a group of people who appeared to be elderly yet they also appear to be in the prime of their health even though they physically appeared to be aged over 100 years old, yet hey seemed to act like they are about 70 years old, and it would soon revealed that the group of persons are the surviving members of the Third Reich, and they are shown to be harboring a deep hatred towards the Kirigiri family, in which it revealed that ten years after the fall of World War II, the surviving members of the Third Reich are attempting to recruit foreign allies to revive the Axis, but the early members of the Kirigiri family, who are emerging detectives, foiled this, which resulted in the apprehension of the Third Reich members yet the rest managed to escape, and the remaining Reich members used unknown means to prolong their lives and thus lived for several decades and now they plan to get revenge at the Kirigiri family for the humiliation, and the leader, identified as Baron Von Kaiser, was able to locate and identify Kyoko Kirigiri, and chose to target her to let the Kirigiri family know that the Third Reich is alive and kicking, and Von Kaiser told his fellow members that once the Kirigiri family is erased, then they will attempt to revive the Third Reich and bring forth World War III.

His fellow members cheered in agreement as they too wish to revive the Reich and bring homage to their HERO, the late Adolf Hitler, and bring honor to his name.

"My fellow Reich...this is my wish...and I am sure that our beloved Fuhrer would wish for this as well...we get revenge on the Kirigiri family...kill every last one of them...then we recruit our fellow Germans...and foreign sympathizers...and the moment we amass huge numbers...we rule Europe...then across the continent till we establish a stronghold here in Asia. Once that is accomplished, we can be sure that our beloved Fuhrer would be proud of us!"

"Yes!"

"I agree!"

"We must avenge our humiliating loss!"

"The Fuhrer must be avenged!"

"The Kirigiri family must pay!"

"Everyone...I got news! The granddaughter of the Kirigiri family is located!"

"Where?"

Upon learning where Kirigiri is, Von Kaiser instructed his hit men to kill her when there is a chance, and thus leads up to the current situation, and the scene shifts at the pawnshop where Kirigiri is waiting outside where she can hear the screams of the two robbers, and she is waiting for the fight to end, and not far, the two hit men are waiting inside the car, and got a positive identification on their target, and they are getting ready to make the hit.

"Look..."

"There she is..."

"Our target."

"Be prepared...we will make a hit."

"Yes...I am prepared..."

"Get ready...we have only one chance at this."

"I am on it."

"Good."

The scene zoomed back at the pawnshop where Naegi, who appeared to be battle-weary, came out, dragging the two robbers by their collars and she began to handcuff the two and placed them insde the car, and she noticed that Naegi is glancing at his watch and realized that he had missed his date with Maizono and frustration is building up and Kirigiri tries to calm him down but this resulted in the two getting into an argument.

"Naegi, calm down...!"

"How can I? I'm so pissed off!"

"You're getting pissed off because of missing a certain time?"

"What am I supposed to do?"

"You can tell Maizono-san that you'll be a bit late...I'm sure..."

"You think that's easy?"

"Naegi!"

"Damn it!"

The shouting is so loud that the two robbers sweat-dropped at seeing this and they wondered if they should try to make an escape or wait for a while, yet the short guy, Ryoma Hoshi, told his tall but cohort that they can't do anything at this point given the situation they are in and that they don't want another beating at the hands of Naegi, seeing what he is capable of but then they had to put up with the argument scene that they are watching right now.

"Uh...Ryoma..."

"What, Gonta?"

"What should we do...?"

"..."

"Think we can make a try to get..."

"Shut up. We're beaten up."

"Uh..."

"..."

As Kirigiri secures the two robbers on the back passenger seat, Naegi began stripping off the red suit, then puts on his casual clothes and she noticed it and asks him what is he doing, and Naegi angrily threw the red suit at her and told her she can keep it and said that he is through using it, which surprised her as she did not expect Naegi to snap like that, and tries to persuade him to calm down but he would not, telling her that he will not wear the red suit ever again.

"Naegi...!"

"I had it!"

"Wait...!"

"You use the blasted suit! I'm not wearing it again!"

"Naegi-kun!"

"Find someone else to use it! I don't want to be near that thing ever again!"

"Naegi!"

"Goodbye!"

Naegi then walked out on her and did not look back, and Kirigiri shook her head sideways seeing that Naegi is acting selfishly over something so trivial, yet she couldn't do anything at this point, exvept wait for him to cool his head and once he calms down, she will try to talk to him and make him reconsider his decision and accept the red suit again, and now she puts the red suit inside the front passenger seat and is about to go inside the car when the two hit men approached her, and she sensed danger seeing that the two men are of German accent.

"Miss Kyoko Kirigiri..."

"It is you, isn't it...?"

"What can I do for you?"

"Yes...it is you..."

"We found you...the one who caused the Third Reich to fall from grace..."

"..."

"We will kill you!"

"Along with the entire Kirigiri family! Once that is done we will revive the Third Reich and bring forth World War III! Then the legendary Fuhrer himself, Adolf Hitler will stand proud!"

"!"

Kirigiri managed to kick the goon back and he collided with his fellow hit man as she went towards another car and ducked just as the two men open fire, shooting down the car, and the sounds of gunfire attracted Naegi's attention, and he slowly sensed that someone is in danger, and this prompted him to go back, and realized that Kirigiri is there and realized that he let his anger clouded his mind and now he has to save a friend even though he no longer has the red suit with him.

At the other scene, Kirigiri is hiding behind a car as the two hit men kept firing their guns, yet they couldn't find her and the other man told him to go to the side and try to hit her as he will keep her busy, and the two men nodded seeing that this is a good idea as this would keep her from escaping, as well as to pin her down without problem.

"Go the other way."

"But..."

"I will keep firing...that will put her in place..."

"I see...that way I can sneak behind her..."

"Indeed."

"Good idea. I will do it."

"Go now before she tries to flee."

"I will."

"Naegi!"

"Kirigiri-san!"

"Get out of here!"

"I'm sorry for screaming at you! I..."

"Never mind that! Get out of the way!"

"But...!"

"Do it now!"

"!"

"Naegi..."

"Uh..."

"Naegi...are you okay...?"

Looks like the tension is building up, as naegi is badly injured with Kirigiri forced to escape to get him some medical help, and loses the red suit in the process, which the remnants of the Third Reich has taken possession of.

Moreover, Seraphi seemed to be having some emergency plans, and is implied to be willing to cast naegi aside for a new user of the red suit. What is he up to?
