First off, many thanks to those who reviewed this fic, I really appreciated it and this gave me inspiration to work on the next chapter and here the current story arc picks up where the last chapter left, in which the villain of this arc is intensifying his actions in a bid to get out of jail, and the events played out here that would affect the characters in this story arc, especially Naegi, so read on and enjoy!

A few days later, the scene later shifts at the Tokyo prison, where the crook form six months ago is seen in his cell, behaving well as if he is showing signs of improvements just to show that he is filled with remorse, and the prison guards noticed it seeing that the crook may be renouncing his criminal ways though they appeared unsure given his track record from six months ago, and now they are aware that the parole committee is set to interview him within the hour and the two guards wonder if they are going to grant him a parole due to his good behavior.

"Hey...that guy is getting sober..."

"Yeah, I guess he learned his lesson..."

"I doubt it. Maybe he got scared at the fact that he might be sent to the mental hospital..."

"If so, then it's good. At least he's behaving."

"Think he would be given a parole?"

"Who knows?"

"Want a bet?"

"Sure."

But as one hour have passed, a pair of guards came and told the two guards that the crook, identified as Aru Pachinko, is being summoned by the Parole Committee, and the two guards opened the door and approached the crook, and they told him that the committee is going to interview him to see if he is fit to be given a parole and the person responded, in a rather religious tone.

"Hey."

"Aru Pachinko."

"Yes…?"

"You're up. The parole committee wants to see you."

"Yes…I would be delighted to…all in the name of kami-sama…"

"?"

"?"

"May kami-sama be with you…"

The guards were taken aback at this yet they told him to get up and they escorted him to the board room where the Parole Commitee is waiting and Pachinko went with the guards as he is seen holding what appeared to be a bible book and he is seen acting saintly as he is walking the hallway with the two armed guards keeping their eye on him, and the two guards wondered if Pachinko really changed his ways or not, still unconvinced.

Believe It Or Not by Joey Scarbury
(Opening Song from The Greatest American Hero)

Look at what's happened to me,
I can't believe it myself;
Suddenly I'm up on top of the world,
Should've been somebody else.

Believe it or not,
I'm walkin' on air,
I never thought I could feel so free;
Flyin' away on a wing and a pray'r,
Who could it be?
Believe it or not, it's just me.

Just like the light of new day,
It hit me from out of the blue;
Breakin' me out of the spell I was in,
Makin' all of my wishes come true.

Believe it or not,
I'm walkin' on air,
I never thought I could feel so free;
Flyin' away on a wing and a pray'r,
Who could it be?
Believe it or not, it's just me.

Ch. 104: Karishakuhō-sha no keikaku

The scene shows that Jin Kirigiri announced that classes would end by lunch due to an emergency meeting, and the students are seen leaving, anf as Naegi is ready to get his bag and about to leave, Manzoni approached him and asks if he has any plans, and while he said he does not have one, she invited him to hang out with her to a mall which he decided to accept seeing that he has nothing much to do, and sees this as a good time to bond with her.

"Naegi-kun."

"Yes?"

"Want to hang out with me at a mall?"

"Really?"

"Yes."

"Sounds fun…sure, I'll go with you."

"Thanks."

"Yeah, thanks."

Naegi and Maizono then left the classroom as they are going to a mall and there they saw a few students reading the new manga and Maizono mentioned that the author is related to Yamada, which Naegi confirmed and said that the author wanted to be number one and made the manga in order to compete with the Captain Gonzo manga that Komaru made, and Maizono asks if he is fine with it which he said he is, since nobody knows that the manga was based on HIM, and hoped that no one would discover this.

"Really, Naegi-kun?"

"Yes, Mazono-san…really."

"Are you fine with it? What if someone…"

"I doubt it would happen."

"Huh?"

"I'm sure that no one would suspect that the manga was based on me."

"I hope you're right."

"Ha-ha…"

As the two leaves the academy, Naegi and Maizono walked together, acting like they are a couple, which a few people noticed, and recognized her and they began whispering among themselves, wondering if Naegi is her boyfriend, which some are not impressed at her choice of boyfriend while others seemed fine with it, which would eventual cause a lot of gossip.

"Look…"

"Sayaka Maizono…the Super High School-level idol…"

"She's cute…"

"She's hot…"

"Why is she hanging out with a wimp like him…?"

"Are they a couple…?"

"They better not…"

"How did a guy like Naegi managed to get close to her…?"

Back at the prison, Pachinko is seated at the far end of the table facing the Parole Committee members who are about to interview him to determine if he is fit and deserving in getting a parole, as they read the profile and the activities that Pachinko did during the six months of being locked here, and there the lead committee leader began interviewing Pachinko, and in the 30 minutes of interview, the committee members were rather surprised to see that the person in front of them is different from what they saw in him from six months ago, seeing that Pachinko is now SAINTLY, as opposed to being a brutal mobster from before, and there the committee leader asks if Pachinko renounces his criminal ways.

"Aru Pachinko."

"Yes…?"

"Do you renounce your criminal ways?"

"Yes."

"Do you intend to change your ways?"

"In the name of kami-sama…I intend to."

"Are you sure you won't be tempted to return to the life of crime?"

"I will not be tempted again. I regret what I have done and intend to make up for my past sins…"

Pachinko said that he regretted his past and said that his time in prison changed him, and said that he has found the ONE who steered him to the right direction, and when asked what will he do once he is given a parole, Pachinko said that he will run a religious program to reach out to the unfortunate ones, and even showed his plans on paper, and this seemed to have impressed the committee, and one of the members asks if Pachinko still believes about a "flying guy in a red suit", and Pachinko said that he no longer believes in that, saying he only believes in Kami-Sama.

"One last question, Mr. Pachinko…"

"Yes…?"

"Do you still believe about a guy FLYING IN A RED SUIT…?"

"The one ones I believe flying are angels from heaven…"

"Is…that so…?"

"Yes."

"…"

"…"

The Parole Committee members huddled as they are determining what to do, seeing that Pachinko appeared to have changed his ways and told him that they will give their answer in an hour, and the committee members stepped out of the room while Pachinko remained seated as he await for the decision of the committee to give their answer within an hour.

At downtown Tokyo, Naegi and Maizono continued to walk, enjoying each other's company, as they are enjoying their date, not noticing that a lot of people saw them walking together and made gossips and speculations about the two, wondering if they are dating or not, which drew mixed reactions from onlookers, which some appeared to display disapproval at Maizono's choice of a potential suitor, questioning among themselves why she hang out at a WIMPY guy like Naegi.

Maizono and Naegi can hear the whispering, and Naegi asked if she is bothered by it which she whispered back, saying that she does not care what others think, as she knows that she is not doing anything scandalous, and that she is proud to hang out with him, which Naegi is touched despite him getting vocally bashed in a secret manner.

"Really, Maizono-san…?"

"Yup."

"Um…"

"Just don't pay any attention to them. You did nothing wrong, so don't feel worried about gossips and stuffs."

"Well…"

"Don't worry. Just enjoy our little date, okay?"

"Okay."

"Good."

And as the two teens are nearing the mall, they came across a book shop, where a lot of people are lined up, and upon reaching in front of the book store, Naegi and Maizono were taken aback upon seeing Yamada standing there, dressed as Captain Chaos, and Yamada greeted his two classmates and Naegi asks what is he doing here in that getup.

Naegi wondered what prompted Yamada to dress up in that getup in public, and there Yamada explained why.

"Oi, Naegi-dono…Maizono-dono."

"Yamada-kun."

"Hello."

"Is that…?"

"Oh…that…right, I'm dressed up as Captain Chaos."

"Why dressed like that manga character?"

"Well…you see…"

"Huh?"

Yamada explained that the bookstore owner is selling the new manga, which became a top seller and the bookstore owner made a deal with Fujiko that he will promote the manga if she allows Yamada to be the mascot of the store which can attract child readers, and she agreed, and thus Yamada works part-time at the book store, but he did not mind it as he is getting paid, and as a friendly gesture he gives his two classmates a complimentary copy of the latest issue of the manga, which the two teens accepted and wished him the best of luck.

"Here…have a complimentary free copy."

"Um…thanks…"

"Yeah, thanks."

"Have a good day, you two."

"Right…"

"Oh, good luck on your job."

"I will."

"See you."

By then the manga fans saw Maizono and lined up, asking for her autograph in which she accepted and took a pen and signed autographs for her fans as Naegi and Yamada looked on, and things appeared peaceful as Naegi felt that things would be okay, and yet he is unaware of the danger that would soon come in to his way, something even he would not anticipate this.

About an hour later, the scene shifts back to prison, where the committee members enter the board room, and there they gave their recommendation, saying that Pachinko will be granted parole, and recommended to the prison head that he be released immediately, and the members were was hesitant to grant it as they believe that Pachinko is still dangerous, but he gave in and said that Pachinko would be released by next week, and the committee nodded as Pachinko thanked the committee members and promised to keep himself clean, which he committee leader said that he is looking forward to.

"I thank you from the bottom of my heart…"

"Sure, sure…"

"I am sure that kami-sama will reward you in an unexpected way…"

"Yes, yes…you should keep it up. I look forward in seeing you do religious charity work…"

"I intend to, kind sir."

"That is good to hear."

"…"

"…"

Pachinko is escorted back to his cell as the committee members leave, and the prison warden was sighing in annoyance as his assistant asks him if he is really going to grant Pachinko a parole, and he said that he has no choice and hoped that Pachinko stays clean and abandon crime, or otherwise he might be forced to break the law and stop Pachinko himself.

"Sir…?"

"…"

"Are we going to let that guy go free?"

"What can we do? He behaved himself well…"

"And the parole committee seemed to be taken in by that guy's religious whatchamacallit…"

"Pachinko better stay clean…"

"And what if he…?"

"Then I'll be forced to do vigilante stuff…"

A week later, Pachinko is escorted towards the exit of the prison facility and heading towards the gate where a car is waiting, and there Pachinko is a free man, and boards the car which left immediately, and inside the car, it shows that Pachinko was actually pretending to be saintly as this was his plan to get himself out of prison, and succeeded, where his men congratulated him and there Pachinko laid out the plans on what to do next and intend to keep his real activities a secret and told his right-hand man to hire the best men he could find as he is revitalizing his mafia network, and his assistant asks what is his first order after getting out of prison.

Pachinko smirked wickedly as he revealed his first priority.

"So boss…"

"Yeah?"

"What are you going to do first?"

"Well…"

"Go after that Kirigiri bitch?"

"That among them…but first…"

"Huh?"

"There's one guy I want to go after first."

Pachinko said that hunting down Kyoko Kirigiri is among the priorities, but said that the most important matter right now is to find Makoto Naegi, the person he hated most, and directed his right-hand man to find him no matter what, saying that he is connected to Kirigiri in some way, and the right-hand man nodded, and the car drives away to parts unknown.
