Many thanks to those who read and reviewed this fic. I really appreciated it and this gave me inspiration to work on the next chapter and here the current story arc continues, in which the space shuttle is slated to make a crash landing, in which Naegi and his friends are now on the move to intercept and try to veer the shuttle to a different location to avert a potential disaster…
And now it's about to happen…will Naegi be able to pull it off?

At NASA, the NASA officials are seen scrambling about as they are baffled at what just happened as the shuttle is seen via the radar that something hit the descending shuttle and started to veer to a different direction, and forecasted that the shuttle might land at either Nigata or Mt. Bandai, which is still in the area of Japan.
The NASA head asked the technicians how did this happened as the shuttle could not just shift its direction all of the sudden, and the officials said they have no idea why, maintaining that they are clueless about this, but said that if there is any consolation, it averted a possible damage that is slated to land at Tokyo, but now the shuttle would land at an area with very few residents there.
The NASA head then asked if there are any progress in contacting the astronauts, and the officials said there has been no response up to now.
"Still no answer…?"
"No answer."
"Keep trying."
"I've been doing that for the past several minutes…"
"Then keep trying until…"
"We're doing it, sir"
"Don't give up…"
"…"
The NASA head is feeling the pressure, as this would cause some catastrophic consequences if the shuttle crashes at a populous area somewhere in Japan, and the United States president would sure have his hide if he and his department doesn't do something to avert the possible disaster, and told his subordinates to continue trying to reach the astronauts inside the space shuttle.
The subordinates nodded and continued trying to reach out to the astronauts, but after a few minutes the subordinates gave their reply, which doesn't sound good.
"Still no answer…?"
"No answer."
"Keep trying."
"I've been doing that for the past several minutes…"
"Then keep trying until…"
"We're doing it, sir"
"Don't give up…"
"…"
Suddenly, one of the NASA employees came, and she gave a nervous look, in which she tells him he has a phone call…and the caller is none other than the United States president…McDonald Trumpet.
The NASA head stared wide-eyed at hearing this and asked for confirmation, which she nodded meekly, saying that it is really the president and no one else.
"The president?"
"Yes, sir."
"For real?"
"Yes."
"…"
"Damn…"
"…"
"Okay, I'll take the call…"

Ch. 116: Shatoru no hozon
About 45 minutes later, the scene shifts at an open road within the vicinity of Mt. Bandai, where Kirigiri, Naegi and Maizono arrived, and there the trio glanced at the radio, where Seraphi has been in constant contact with them, as she instructed the three teens to head to this specific area, where she instructed Naegi to use this area to fly towards the upper atmosphere and try to steer the descending shuttle towards an area with no people in sight.
Maizono appeared worried as she asked Kirigiri if the red suit would protect Naegi from the effects of outer space, which the SHSL Detective said she has no idea, since the red suit only covers the body but not the head, and this caused the SHSL Idol to go ballistic with worry, saying that Naegi might die the moment he is out of Earth's normal atmosphere and she is unwilling to let Naegi get into danger and do a suicide mission.
Kirigiri tries to calm her down, with some difficulty as Maizono ranted non-stop and this caused the two girls to bicker over Naegi's safety.
"Maizono-san…"
"What if Naegi-kun dies? How can we retrieve his body?"
"…"
"Aren't you his coach? How can you…"
"Calm down…I…"
"I won't let him go! I'll stop you! I'll…"
"Will you calm down?"
"Over my dead body!"
Ophani then spoke via the car's radio, urging the two girls to calm down, saying that they have devised a means to allow Naegi to catch the shuttle without him going to the upper atmosphere, and a concerned Kirigiri asked Ophani if she is sure about that.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"…"
"We will come up with a way to help veer the shuttle to a different direction."
"And will help Naegi-kun…?"
"Yes."
"…"
"Have him get ready…"
After that, Naegi removes his civilian clothes and puts on the RED SUIT and cape, whilst the scene shifts at outer space, where the huge UFO is preparing to make its move, where Cherubi is seen tinkering with the controls and a rather huge laser gun nozzle appeared, and is aiming at the descending shuttle, as it is now within Earth's atmosphere.
Cherubi asked Seraphi if he is sure about this, which the leader of the trio nodded, saying that this would work and allow Naegi to do the rest, as there is no other alternative as resorting to something else would risk their exposure.
"That is all we can come up with."
"…"
"At least Makoto Naegi won't have to risk going into outer space…"
"That may be true, but…"
"Any other method may result in our presence being exposed, hence we must do this discreetly."
"Fine with me."
"Prepare the weapon."
"Fine."
By then Seraphi told Cherubi to activate the weapon, and Cherubi nodded, which a laser-like bean fired, which hits the shuttle, but instead of damaging the shuttle, all it did was change the shuttle's descending trajectory, which causes it to move to a different angle, yet its descending further hastens, and began to fall a bit faster.
There Ophani called the three teens on Earth via the car radio and told them to have Naegi mobilized and catch the shuttle, saying that the aliens managed to change its landing trajectory a bit so Naegi can try landing it to a non-populated area.
Kirigiri nodded and tells Naegi about it, and he took a deep breath as he felt that this is quite dangerous for him to try something like this, and she tells him to be careful, as she has no idea what the results would be like.
"Naegi-kun."
"Yeah."
"Be careful."
"I know."
"We don't know what the results would be like…"
"I understand."
"Just be ready and…"
"Got it."
Nodding, Naegi ran fast then jumped upwards, where he is seen flying upward, though like before, he still hasn't mastered the art of flying, yet he did made some improvement. Kirigiri and Maizono watches the scene as they hoped that Naegi would be okay, as this involves him trying to stop a falling shuttle from landing to an area with lots of people.

The scene shifts at NASA, where the NASA head is explaining to the president that NASA is doing everything to try avert a possible disaster, but the president said that if a single death is reported, the NASA head will be saying HELLO to a jail cell, and the NASA head pleaded to the president to be patient as they are trying means to do something about it.
"Mr. President…please…"
"You heard me. Do something about it or you'll…"
"We are doing everything we could…"
"If a single death is recorded, it'll be on your credit card…"
"…"
"You can choose…Alcatraz or…"
"Please, Mr. President…we're…"
"…"
Suddenly, one of the NASA technicians came and told the NASA head that the shuttle's descending trajectory slightly changed, saying that there is a possibility that the shuttle might land on an abandoned land or something, but they couldn't figure out what caused it.
The NASA head asked if he is sure, which the technician said it happened so suddenly hence they have no idea what caused it.
"Really?"
"Looks like it…"
"How?"
"No idea."
"How did this happened?"
"I wish I knew…"
"Keep monitoring…"
"I'm on it…"
The president then asked what is going on, and the NASA head explained the situation, which the president expressed skepticism about what he is told and tells him not to make a cheap alibi, which the NASA head said it wasn't.
"This better not be another of your make-up stories…"
"I'm not, Mr. President…"
"How could you say the shuttle's landing trajectory suddenly changed…?"
"I don't know…I just got the word…"
"If it turns out that you're lying…"
"I'm not!"
"Prepare your things…I will have the CIA escort you to Alcatraz…"
"Mr. President!"
The NASA employees sweat-dropped, seeing that the NASA head is having his hands full trying to assure the president that they are doing what they can, though they expressed their mutual dislike towards the president, as before he became one, he was a business mogul and a billionaire, who decided to try his luck for presidency, and somehow won the elections in a landslide victory.
Yet despite this he acts like he is still a businessman and treats the administration like a business company, hence making him quite unpopular to some of the business sector and the other government departments.
"McDonald Trumpet…"
"The billionaire…"
"He really has a loose screw…"
"How did he became president…?"
"I bet he uses his money to bribe people to vote for him…"
"I hate that guy…"
"Me too…"
"Hope he dies…"

Back at the vicinity of Mt. Bandai, Naegi flew higher as he is now above the cloud level, and he wondered if he is doing the right thing, as he realized that he hasn't tested the suit's capability when it comes to outer space, and as he is about to go further above, he could feel the cold atmosphere, and braces himself in case he fails in this mission.
By then he saw the shuttle descending, and there Naegi went underneath the shuttle's underside and grabbed hold, where he uses the suit's power to give him some extra PHYSICAL BOOST and tries to steer the shuttle towards another area, which proved difficult at first, due to the speed of the shuttle's descending speed, and yet he persevered and managed to move its angle a bit, where the shuttle is now heading towards an area near the mountain.
Kirigiri and Maizono saw it and there the SHSL Detective tells her classmate to hop on as they are going after it.
"Maizono!"
"…"
"Hop on!"
"Eh?"
"We're going after Naegi!"
"Is he…?"
"Still steering the shuttle!"
"Okay!"
