Hello everyone! I'm Wyvern97. It's been years since I've actually posted a fic on this site and I figured I'd give it another go. I've always loved Pokemon and still do to this day. I've played every game possible, just finished rewatching most of the anime (Galar is the last one) and have read up to Johto in the manga. With that said, any and all of the knowledge from those sources will be used to help me flesh out my story with how i feel it would make the world seem realistic. Now a shoutout real quick. While not in this chapter Banix has given me permission to use some concepts that he created in his Pokeverse of fanfics so there is no need to flame me for plagiarism. Now despite the summary saying there are eight UFO's this story will only ever be from one perspective.
Lastly the disclaimer. It should be obvious but I cannot and will not ever own anything related to Pokemon in this fic save for several OC's. This is a general shout out for my entire story so I don't have to write it again and again per chapter.
Pokémon. What exactly are Pokémon? Well, to answer that question truthfully and directly, Pokémon are some of the most amazing creatures to ever walk the face of this world.
Pokémon come in all shapes and sizes, from the massive Wailord, to the tiny Flabebe, to the bulky Mudsdale, to the lightweight Gastly.
Pokémon also have amazing powers tied to the elements, like Charizard being able to burn mountains with a single Flamethrower, Blastoise being able to shoot enough water to fill one hundred Olympic swimming pools in a minute, Alakazam having an IQ of over 9,000, and Machop being able to hold a full-grown adult.
Ever since they have existed, humans have received help from these beautiful creatures in many ways. As you would expect, humans have grown close to Pokémon. Some people keep Pokémon as pets, others show off their strength and beauty in contests and performances. Others use them to help around with the various jobs throughout the world. But what most people catch Pokémon for is for the most popular sport in this world.
For as long as Pokémon and humans have been together, they have been using Pokémon to battle one another. Pokémon battling in the ancient past was a form of warfare. Those who were capable to taming these majestic creatures had a unique status among their peers. The strength of their Pokémon are a symbol represented the strength of the person him/herself.
Eventually, it grew into a common sport that everyone wanted to take part. Starting at a certain age depending on where in the world they live, children were expected to leave home and go on their own Pokémon journey. They would try and battle their way to the top in the Pokémon League.
"Alright Marowak I don't want to hurt it too badly now. Use False Swipe." An elderly man stated to what looked like a tiny dinosaur barely at waist height wearing a skull like helmet that wielded what one could assume was a humerus bone.
"Maro!" The Pokémon exclaimed as it took the bone and quickly swiped at its opponent. It released a pained hiss in response as its tail rattled. The creature panted heavily as if exhausted and on its last legs until it was smacked in the head by a baseball sized object.
Almost immediately upon being struck the creature was transformed into a red mist like energy as the ball opened up and absorbed said energy. When all of it was absorbed, the sphere clicked shut and immediately began to shake upon landing on the ground.
For the next minute the area was filled with a tense atmosphere as the ball wobbled and rang on the ground revealing that the creature was trying to resist capture. It did not last as the ball finally stopped shaking as a ding rang clearly in the air signifying the capture.
The elderly man gave a sigh of relief as he picked up the still sphere before turning to his smaller companion. "Thank you Marowak. I don't know how this Ekans got into the ranch but it's truly a magnificent find. To find a Ekans of its color is a first for me so it'd be great to study it. You can go back to your cub now."
Grunting, the Marowak simply nodded before walking off to its den where a little Cubone was waiting for it.
Once more the man looked at the sphere in his hand. "Now let's get back to the lab and take a look at you." He said before pocketing the device and was walking to what looked like a combination of a ranch, house and laboratory with a windmill attached to the rear of the house.
Upon entering his humble home/lab he came across one of his old students who was watching the news on his tv while her son and his grandson played/argued.
"Oh, hello Delia. I didn't know you were coming over today." The elderly man said happily albeit a bit confused by her random arrival.
She shot him an amused look. "Today's Wednesday Samuel. It's our usual movie night."
Samuel's eyes widened and smacked himself in the face eliciting giggles from the two seven-year-old boys. "Goodness. Time sure flies. I was so busy today I completely forgot."
Now Delia was the one to giggle. "It's fine professor. You must have been busy with the Pokémon today. Did you make any headway with your current research?" She inquired curiously.
"A little. I didn't make as much progress as I would have liked but I did come across a Ekans of an unusual color." He stated holding up the Pokeball.
Both boys eyes widened when they heard that completely forgetting their argument of the movie they were going to watch. "Professor can we see it pretty please!" Ash asked pleadingly.
The Pokémon professor was about to respond until a warning sound came from the TV garnering all their attention.
"This is your host Kinsey with breaking news. Earlier this week our astrologists bore witness to eight meteors heading straight for our world. Researchers from the Mossdeep Space Station are working alongside those of the Hokulani Observatory. As of right now this phenomenon is having them scratching their heads. Currently, we have reporter Rita with the head of the Hokulani Observatory, Molayne to get his input. Rita over to you."
The screen changed to show a rather pretty young lady wearing glasses holding a microphone while standing next to a rather tall, frazzled man with blond hair and also wearing glasses.
"Thank you, Kinsey. I'm here now with Molayne in order to glean whatever we can from these strange meteors. Molayne is there anything that you can tell the world about what your scientists have discovered?"
The blond-haired man rubbed the back of his head.
"I wish I did. What we've gathered so far is that our devices cannot penetrate the energy shroud surrounding each object. The satellites that the Mossdeep space center had in the exosphere are either too weak or there is literally nothing inside them. Almost like we're staring into a Hyper Beam attack. Since that's the case, we can rule out the normal cases of it being extraterrestrial Pokémon."
"In most cases our sensors can pick up and look at the crafts of the Elgyem and Cleffa lines of Pokémon. Minior are Pokémon native to primarily our region that are created within Earth's own ozone layer, so we ruled them out. The only Pokémon that remotely come close to this strange occurrence is the gemstones of the Staryu line or the Solrock/Lunatone pair. The problem though, is that the energy field is far too large for it to be either. We've asked for other researchers from Galar and Sinnoh of their own histories to see if there is a connection between their darkest day legend which was said to have originated from a meteor or maybe its something connected to the legendary creation trio."
Suddenly an astronomer came bursting into the facility with tons of papers flying all over the place as he sprinted to the pair.
"Sir! I just got back word from the Aether Foundation! They got a match of the energy reading from the meteors and said that each is reading their own unique energy signature to an Ultra Wormhole!"
Everyone in the observatory including the lab was stunned silent. Gary turned to his grandfather. "Gramps what's an Ultra Wormhole?"
Rita shook her head in confusion. "Um can you explain what an Ultra Wormhole is to me and the viewers?"
Molayne stood pondering how to answer. "Years ago, the late husband of the current head of the Aether foundation was a professor working for his wife. Professor Mohn was the first to confirm the existence of Ultra Wormholes and Ultra Beasts. What Ultra Wormholes are, is that they are unstable portals linking to other dimensions and possibly planets within the great multiverse."
"So cool!" Ash exclaimed in awe, voicing his rival's thoughts as well.
"However, a few years ago he vanished while on a mission to try to connect to an Ultra Wormhole, leaving behind some papers on one of the Ultra Beasts and a theory on the wormholes. Professor Burnet has dedicated her life to study the relationship between Pokémon and these other dimensions. In fact, Ultra Beasts are not the only things to ever come out of them either. Sometimes they are even people! We call them Fallers."
"Unfortunately, not many survive if at all. Based on Professor Brunet's work, she theorizes that Fallers have a strange energy about them that the Ultra Beasts mistake for another wormhole, causing them to pursue Fallers under the impression that they are the way back home which has led to the deaths of almost all the Fallers I've encountered." His words made the reporter gasp in surprise and sympathy.
Her action was mirrored by the two adults in the lab as well.
Rita then placed the mic back in front of herself. "Well, there you have it folks. It seems that these meteors are-," Suddenly red blaring lights started flashing alarming those in the facility.
"What's going on?" Rita asked in surprise. Out of nowhere a video call appeared revealing a rather destressed man.
"Professor Cozmo what's going on?!" Molayne shouted amongst the confusion.
"We've got a visual on the meteors, but something happened. It looks like a Pokémon of some sorts is attacking them! Here just watch for yourselves."
The man fiddled with his computer and immediately a static filled screen appeared. He typed away a little more as the image started to clear. It still clearly showed a lot of static but it was clear enough that they all saw the eight blue meteors under attack by what looked like a strange red and blue alien like Pokémon firing off attacks on each meteor.
Much to everyone's surprise, each move (which they all recognized as Pokémon moves) it shot at the meteors, regardless of whichever it shot at, all of them increased in size and momentum.
"We have no idea what this Pokémon is, but it's been attacking the meteors since they got by Pluto and this was hours ago!"
Molayne and the others in the observatory gaped. "That's not possible! Nothing can move that fast!"
Cozmo snorted. "We said the same thing. If this Pokémon keeps attacking them, the meteors will be within our atmosphere in mere hours! Just look, they've just rocketed past the rings of Saturn!"
However, a loud roar reverberated through Cozmo's side of the screen making the building rumble from the power of the tremble. "What the hell was that?!"
Another scientist choked in surprise. "Professor Cozmo switch to the Ho-oh three satellites immediately! They're picking up movement in the Mesosphere!"
Cozmo furiously typed away and pulled up a visual and everyone behind their tv screens and within the labs gaped as they noticed the massive green serpent. "Is that Rayquaza?!" He yelped in surprise and awe.
Rayquaza roared once more before it enveloped itself in an aura of green energy and rocketed to the exosphere in seconds and continued its path to Jupiter where Cozmo hastily switched back to the satellite watching the meteors and Deoxys.
The Sky High Pokémon slammed right into the DNA Pokémon with so much force that it flew back into the rings of Saturn. Deoxys recovered by shifting back to its normal form where the video revealed its right arm missing but was regenerating in a white glow.
Energy was pouring out of every pore of Rayquaza's being so much so it created a dome of pure energy which almost anyone who knew about Pokémon recognized. "R-Rayquaza is evolving?! That's impossible!" Rita exclaimed in shock.
And indeed, it did as its size doubled. In fact, it looked even more intimidating that it did prior. Letting loose one more roar, it gathered energy in it's maw and released the largest known Hyper Beam the world has ever witnessed, consuming the eight meteors.
Much to everyone's disbelief the meteors even consumed the massive attack and converted it to speed as they literally vanished from the screen. Mega Rayquaza turned to get hit by an attack from Deoxys who roared in challenge and immediately began to fight the smaller being.
"The meteors have just breached the Thermosphere sir!" Another scientist yelped making Cozmo and Molayne blanch in surprise.
Thankfully without needing prompt another pulled up images of the Mesosphere where something happened that baffled everyone.
All of the meteors that were once falling in unison immediately shot off in completely random directions breaking the sound barrier once more, while breaking the cameras.
"What the?! Where are they going?! I want eyes on the meteors immediately!" Cozmo barked to one of his subordinates.
One of them was about to get to work but the building began to tremble sending some scientists stumbling while others were grabbing onto shelves and tables to steady themselves or the furniture.
One man was by a window and gaping. "One of the meteors is on a collision course with the shuttle! Brace for impact!" Suddenly a loud explosion ripped from the other side of the screen leaving static for everyone else to see much to their horror.
"Someone go out there and get Liza and Tate! Or Stone if he's on the island! We don't know what it is, and we'll need help stat!" They all heard Cozmo shout much to their relief seeing as only the video cut out before the call ended soon after. Suddenly a similar occurrence was happening to the observatory.
Molayne immediately began barking orders. "Rita, Oz, go secure yourselves to something now! Pele! What's the trajectory of the meteors and where is its intended destination?"
One of the few women in the facility began typing. "It looks like the others are headed for Kanto, Johto, Galar, Sinnoh, Unova and Kalos. As for the one here-," the shaking finally stopped once the impact was heard off in the distance.
"As for the one intended for us it landed in the Ruins of Abundance." Molayne frowned. "Someone get Nanu on the phone to check up on it immediately. Pele, get the PWL of the other regions on the line and tell them the destinations of the meteors imm-"
Suddenly the TV cut off startling the four viewers in Pallet town and much to their horror the building and ground began to tremble almost immediately.
The Professor paled immediately. "Delia stay inside with the boys!" Not even bothering to wait for her answer, he sprinted out the back door and noticed the meteor barreling towards the electrode's explosion den and crashed.
Finally making it he slid into the pit with a Pokeball in hand warily staring at the smoking crater which luckily all the Voltorb and Electrode evacuated earlier.
"Hey gramps is it a Pokémon?!" Oak jumped in surprise as the three were atop of the pit.
Brown eyes glared furiously at his grandson who flinched back at the anger. "I told you to stay inside!" He snapped.
"I'm sorry Sam, but the boys ran out before I could stop them." Delia shamefully admitted.
The smoke began to settle revealing a mass of blue light in a sphere in the impact zone making Delia and Samuel tense up waiting to see if whatever it was turned violent.
The object in question that had slammed next to it glowed for a few moments before condensing into a humanoid shape only for it to suddenly dissipate revealing a person with severely burnt clothes at left little to nothing left to the imagination.
"My god, it's a person!" Samul exclaimed let out as he took off his lab coat and covered the young man's body.
"It's a boy?!" Delia cried out in surprise, rushing over to the boy's side immediately leaving Gary and Ash atop of the pit as they watched in confusion. He appeared to be roughly two years older than Ash age with short brown hair, eyes opening to reveal hazel orbs before closing again. She looked him over for a moment, eyes turning down his body looking for any injuries on his person only to find none.
"Poor dear..." She mused as the Professor picked the boy up in his own arms. "I hope he's not hurt bad..." Delia fretted.
"Come on Delia, we can't dally here..." Samuel said as he began to climb out of the pit. "We need to get him to my lab. I'm sure that whatever was behind this a Pokémon of some sort was involved!"
Nodding in understanding, the woman helped the Pokémon professor by putting one of the boys' arms over her shoulder while the professor took the other.
"Hey Gramps, we got some help!" Gary yelled which the professor noted there was a Tangela and a Weepinbell with him.
"Good thinking there Gary. Tangela, Weepinbell use Vine whip to help us up." Both Pokémon cried out in understanding and sent down vines and guided the trio up out of the pit.
They walked back to the lab with the boy while Gary and Ash watched in confused silence as they laid the boy down on the couch.
"Ash can you grab an icepack from the freezer? Gary, go wet a towel but make sure it's not too cold. Professor, you should shoot the doctor a call and get him to come by."
"Yes mom/Delia." They chorused before going about their assigned tasks. Seeing as the pair of boys were away the young woman while the Pokémon professor agreed and went to the video phone.
Both boys came back with the required items. Delia took the towel from Gary and started dabbing at the boy's forehead to wipe away the dirt and grime while also cooling it down before putting the icepack on.
Samuel was walking back and not even a few minutes later there was a knock on the front door which the professor opened which revealed the doctor.
The man promptly gave a quick check up on the boy. Seeing nothing of note that wasn't life threatening nor dangerous, he asked the two other adults to bring the boy to a proper bed or at least an examination one which they quickly carried the boy to one of the spare lab rooms and laid him out on the bed.
Delia ushered the other two boys out and brought them to their respective homes and put them to bed while the professor stayed with the boy to help monitor the situation.
"Who is he...?" Delia mused idly as she sat beside an examination room. It seemed weird to her that a boy would be slammed into the ground by some... force. The astrologist on the TV earlier stated that the energy resembled one of those ultra-wormholes she believed it was called. Did that make this boy one of the faller's they mentioned? What caused it? Wasn't there eight in total? Did that mean each one of those asteroids had a person in them? And more importantly; who WAS he? Her head turned to see Oak walk out, wiping at his forehead. "Samuel is he alright?"
He didn't answer right away, walking over to a water cooler across from the room, taking a cup and filling it. A moment later he drank it all in one swig, holding the cup in his hand. "Sorry, just collecting my thoughts." He finally said.
"Something wrong?" Delia asked as she stood up.
"I'm not sure..." He replied. "Believe it or not the young man is fine. He seems quite healthy and, amazingly, has no injuries. By all appearances he's just asleep."
"Asleep?" Delia parroted as Samuel filled the cup again.
"The doctor had no better way to put it." He replied.
Her thoughts from before plagued her mind. "Do you think this boy is from another world like those astronomers on the TV were saying?"
"There is no way to know for sure..." Samuel said, tossing the cup into a bin. "For now, we have to wait until the young man wakes up. He's our best possible source of information."
"Ugh... what the hell hit me...?" The young man said as his hand reached out to his head, waking up to a sore body. Rubbing his head softly he tried to massage the headache that throbbed in his skull. He idly heard someone, a woman, call out but his ears were filled with a ringing sound. As he sat up, he felt the blanket covering him slide off. The woman he heard turned to him, setting her hands on his shoulder, easing him back down. He opened his eyes, looking up at a pretty woman with worried brown eyes. Her lips moved as she spoke, but it wasn't until the deafening ringing stopped that he heard her properly.
"...ed to lay back. You've been out for over a day."
"...what...?" He managed before she shook her head.
"I said 'you shouldn't get up; you need to lay back.'" She said softly, stroking his hair. "My name is Delia."
"...A-Andrew." He let out as an older man came into the room.
"Ah, he is up!" The man said happily as he walked over. "You gave us quite the fright young man."
Andrew was about to say something until he noticed a mass of blue vines carrying a tray with cups and a pitcher on it with only a few vines.
"...What is that?" He asked in a strangely calm voice while trying to calm down his mind at the ludicrous sight.
"A Tangela of course." Delia said, giving it a pat on the head after taking the tray away. The mass of vines thing leaning into the pat with closed happy eyes.
His brain short circuited at the name. "...A what?"
"Tangela." Dawn repeated. "It's a rather uncommon species kind of pokémon!"
Andrew just deadpanned. "Yeah… you're full of shit."
*Smack* "OW!" "Language young man!" Delia reprimanded with a harsh look.
He shot her a stink eye. "Alright first off you are not my mother. Secondly, I am not that much younger than you! Honestly! Not only that, Pokémon don't exist! So yeah, I am calling you out on your bullshit!" Andrew snapped.
That made Delia recoil slightly not only at his words but his tone. While Samuel rubbed his chin in thought.
"I wonder..." He began. "Delia, let me." He said as Andrew rolled his eyes but turned his head to him. "My name is Professor Oak." The young man's eyes widened briefly in surprise but immediately schooled his features. "I want to ask you some questions that may clear something up for both of us." He began. "Oh, Delia if you could keep quiet while he answers please. First, what is your name?"
"Andrew. Andrew Sandler." The young man replied.
"What was the city of your birth?" The elderly man asked.
"I was born in Queens of New York." Andrew replied as Delia listened, looking confused.
"Which region do you live in?"
"I'm going to assume you mean either my country or the continent I live on, right?" Andrew asked with a knowing look.
"If it's the closest match."
"The country I'm from is the United States of America. The continent however is known as North America. Though there are connecting countries on the same continent both north and south of my home country both named Canada and Mexico respectively."
That explanation made both adults pause in thought.
"I…I see. Before you mentioned you mentioned that you weren't that much younger than Delia here. How old do you think you are?" Samuel asked tentatively.
The way the professor asked that question made Andrew pause both in surprise and a bit of dread. "... Do you have a mirror, I need to see something."
Both Delia and Samuel exchanged confused looks at the strange question. Shrugging her shoulders, the woman pulled out one of her mirrors from her purse and handed it to the younger man who opened the case and froze as he stared at himself in the mirror.
They noticed that his mouth opened and closed as he stared in stunned disbelief at his own reflection. Swallowing heavily, he closed it and held it in his hand.
Andrew released a sigh of frustration and annoyance. "Well to answer your question, before I found myself in here, the other day when I wasn't comatose, I was 27 years old. I graduated from High School, got a college degree in electrical maintenance and was employed as a licensed journeyman on a construction site."
Delia was gaping like a Goldeen while Samuel's eyes widened at the news before realization struck let his face turn neutral at the news.
"I see. If that's the case we can cut to the chase then. Clearly this isn't your world, but I still have to ask, how do you know of Pokémon yet claim that they don't exist?"
Hearing that question made Delia quickly sober up.
The younger male rubbed his eyes in frustration. "Because in my world Pokémon exists as a concept. They are fictional creatures that were only portrayed in a video game series, a trading card game, a large set of comic books, and a cartoon series."
Both of their eyes widened in shock then understanding but Andrew continued. "The first episode of the cartoon aired in my country when I four or five, I can't remember. The video games came out later as well as the comic series. Nintendo, the company who owns the rights to the 'Pokémon' franchise in my world became so popular worldwide it's hard for people to not know what Pokémon is. Not to mention I'm generalizing your whole world as Pokémon. Depending on who followed what, you Professor, are one of the most iconic characters in the franchise while Delia here is only introduced in the cartoon. Speaking of which where's Ash and Gary? I'm assuming that's their names here unless it's Red and Blue respectively."
Samuel's throat was dry as Andrew spoke. "Blue was the trainer name my son used in his days, but his real name was Leon. Gary and Ash are at school now."
Now it was Andrew's turn to be surprised. "Wait they haven't started their journeys yet?"
Delia shook her head now that she recovered from her shock. "No. The boys are only eight right now. They have two more years till they go on their journeys."
He blinked. "Oh. I thought they were already out and about. The last thing in the cartoon, Ash already took part in the League's for seven of the eight regions that I know of. I wasn't really able to watch the season when he was in Galar though cause work took up most of my time."
"I see… Speaking of which what was the last thing you remember doing before losing consciousness?" Samuel asked.
When the professor brought that up Andrew averted his eyes. "…dying. I remember dying." Both adults froze.
"I was working in a high voltage panel running the branch circuits for the temporary power. However, something in the panel came loose and I remember there being an explosion. The last thing I know I was waking up here. Speaking of which how did I wind up here? I highly doubt I appeared out of thin air."
"The TV." Delia finally spoke earning his attention.
"On the Tv we were listening to an emergency broadcast from an astronomer in Alola. They showed us that there were eight meteors flying through space being attacked by a strange Pokémon. For some reason, the meteors were absorbing the attacks and somehow were speeding up, almost like it was a combination of speed boost and flash fire. Sometime after Rayquaza appeared and attacked the other Pokémon before somehow evolving and attacking all eight meteors with the largest hyper beam we've ever seen. Once they came onto the planet they split apart. One fell onto the Mossdeep shuttle, and one in some location in Alola. The only other one we know about is the one you appeared from which landed in the ranch behind us."
Hazel eyes quirked intrigued at the given information. "If that's the case then those other meteors must be seven other people most likely from my world as well. Probably one in each region too."
"I must say you're taking all this surprisingly well." Samuel commented offhandedly.
Andrew shrugged. "Sure, I'm slightly freaking out but at the same time, there are a lot of weird stories that follow a similar concept to my situation. It's a term coined from another country called isekai'd. It's a term meant for stories where the main protagonist is reincarnated, teleported or summoned to another world. I mean it's a lot better than being reincarnated as a Pokémon here than being caught by another human wouldn't you say?"
Samuel grimaced at the thought. "That's a good point I didn't really think about that till now."
Suddenly Delia clapped garnering the male's attention. "I think that's enough for now. I'm assuming you're hungry and smelly, so I'd suggest taking a shower. You came here with your clothes in tatters, so I grabbed a pair of Ash's clothes over for you. I'll go whip us up some lunch in the meantime. The shower is in the adjacent room to here. Professor don't you have some research to catch up on in the meantime?"
Oak nodded in agreement. "Yes, you're right. That Ekans I caught the other day was pretty unique so I wanted to make a bit of headway on that. Andrew would you be fine on your own for a bit?"
The younger man nodded.
"Excellent. I'll be in my main lab room in the meantime. If you have any questions just come find me and I'll be happy to answer them for you." With that the pair of adults both left to give the younger male some privacy."
"Well…today has been a rather bizarre day. I guess I'd better get cleaned up." With that he walked to his shower to start his first day conscious in the Pokémon world.
