Gamelover41592: Thank you!
Awseomerebel55: Thanks, and yeah while the WF are right abot how they shouldn't be treated so poorly by humans, how they go about it is extremely wrong if they want to affect change. As for the events of the past, do you mean back before the series started or the past of the series itself? Because I wouldn't call it poor storytellying, it could just be that it's not relevant. I mean all we really know before what happened in the show is that there was a war about 100 years ago about freedom of expression, the great war.
Superjoeyf721: Agree to disagree then friend, and yeah RWBY CHIBI is back and making up for it's absence with Coco Adel content.
Spencermalley935: Oh yeah, I know I might have given people the idea I might not like sun with a note a few chapters ago but that's not my personal opinion of him. Sun is a good guy, he's not the smartest but he's got the spirit.
Guest 2…well 1? It says Guest 2: I'm sorry, I have a habit of using meapthors and such to try and simplify what I'm trying to get across, I just need to be more clear. I'm sorry for the confusion. Obviously I just caused more confusion instead of trying to be nuanced.
Yes, Peter and Yang have a lot of things in common, a sense of responsibility for their family, having to step up for a member of their family after a death, even that they make jokes. But Yang, all her life, has trained to be a huntress, which is what you could equate to Remnant's equivalent of a Superhero. And while she's not a heiress like Weiss, or a fromer White Fang member like Blake, Yang also isn't normal, she doesn't have a civilian life. Technically Ruby is more so then her sister but even then she has her Silver Eyes power.
Like we don't really see Hunstmen deal with the same problems or issues that normal people do, I mean the gang have actually been given special privileges because they're huntsmen and huntresses. They still have problems of course but not on the same scale as regular people.
And MJ and Peter work well together because not only they too have chemistry, but also he's able to tell her completely about being Spider-Man, not like he could with Yang. And at the end of the day, it's Peter Parker under the mask, he's a normal guy who wants to live a normal life but has an obligation to be Spider-Man.
Yang however, while probably the most grounded on a team of huntresses, is still a huntress. Not a normal person.
I hope this clarified things.
Spider-man Fan: Your right, I can't complain about people who question, the best I can do is provide my reasoning and hope it makes sense to the readers.
And you are right, RWBY obviously has had an impact on Spidey's life throughout the story. Back then I was talking more about why RWBY doesn't show up in every single chapter, here it's just that RWBY is split up and Yang is the only one he can really interact with freely.
As for the Ozpin thing, it's more that sine Pyrrha is connected to MJ who is dating Peter, she asks him to look into it because it was clearly affecting her cousin as far as she could see. So I don't think it's no much as he involves himself into something that big in rwby, he just sorta stumbles into it because of MJ's connection to Pyrrha.
And the reason I have Peter act so negatively towards what Ozpin's plan for Pyrrha is because she is in essence going what he went through with the spider bite. She's being given great power but he doesn't wish that sort of responsibility on anyone.
I'm hoping this clarifies things more then before, I've realized that I haven't been the most clear with what I've wanted to say and how I went about saying it, so I hope this is a more easy to understand response that I can give.
RadBman21: He's had to at some point.
Guest 3: I get that, I mean if this was a fic where Peter went to Beacon then no question they would have been hooked up. And there is merit to reviewers words, I have a problem when I try and simplify my explanations and I end up confusing people, I'm trying to get better at that.
Guest 4: Ok buddy, please do not attack other viewers, they are allowed to their opinions just as much as you and me. For example I don't see Blake as Toxic. And I have given my reason before but I'll give it again. Peter parker is a normal person who has to be a superhero when the time calls for it. Yang is a Huntress who isn't normal. That creates a gap between the two of them. That's why they break up. She doesn't tell him about her huntress stuff which lead to the highway being torn apart, and Peter can't tell her that he's spider-man because he doesn't know if that'll make things worse or not.
They break up because at that moment, neither can trust each other.
That's my reason, if you agree with it, ok, if not, ok. Do with it what you will.
Yo: Thank you! Glad to see this fanfic writing is good for something.
And I can see why, Adam is pretty strong since Blake and Yang both had to fight him to kill him, but my reasoning is that Spider-Man has…..well he basically has like a huntsmen team's worth of powers that he can use all at once. I mean Spider Sense alone is basically why Adam doesn't even get a hit in on him
As for Blake and yang, I'm sorry to hear that, though they aren't dating in the show, or at least in no official capacity. I mean I don't give MY friends gentle touches against their foreheads but hey, that's just me.
And your right, I can understand the disappointment but I don't want people to start a discourse with each other over it. It's just a fanfic everyone, no reason to get so angry at one another, and I'm going to try from now on to not stoke any fires myself.
Cruz7808: I Believe I answered your questions but if not, tell me!
Maelstrom Resurrected: Maybe sooner then you think. And yes, the Hound definitely influenced what Venom is, I'm not even gong to try and BS my way out that.
jbran104: I think we discussed this actually in PM's.
Guest 5: I do, and yes I am very weird.
Guest 6: Yeah it's always satisfying to see Adam get some comeuppance. And yeah the Blake and Yang romance is…well to me, Volume 4-5 is messy because they have a lot going on and probably couldn't put much focus on it, and because of that the two of them in vol 6 feels weird? Like they're still mending their relationship but it wasn't hurt in the first place because by the time they meet up they somehow understand each other's plight? But other then that hiccup? I think it's pretty solid for what we see of it.
I'm gonna try and fit more into it. And hopefully I'll give you something that you like just s much, if not more then Adam getting his crap handed to him!
Guest 7: I'll have to check them out!
Union Part 1
"Do you think he figured it out?" MJ asked as Peter paced around his bedroom while his girlfriend sat on his bed. The reason for her boyfriend's repetitive walking was due to his roommate and their friend Harry Osborn, who before leaving for work asked Peter for a big favor.
"So…you know Spider-Man, right? I mean you take his photos so I imagine you know him but…..ok, do you think…..you could pass along a message for me? I sorta need to ask him something." where the exact words he said to Peter while trying not to break out into a cold sweat. His first thought was that Norman could possibly be behind this, but given how Harry has reacted to all the news of his father and what he's done after DeWolf put a warrant out for his arrest? Peter doubted he would go along with anything his dad had to say to him.
Peter turned to his girlfriend, "I don't see how….I mean I keep my Spider Suit hidden, and besides Harry never comes in when I'm not home." he said, looking to his closet where his Spider costume was hidden under the floor that he pulled apart and fixed up in order to have a safe place to hide it. His gaze turned to hi desk where various electronic parts were scattered, "And I don't just leave any of my web shooter parts out in the open, the only people besides you who know are Norman, Qrow, Glynda, and Ironwood."
MJ nodded in agreement, and with none of those people either around or have any reason to tell Harry, it made it unlikely that he could find out from any of them, "Ok, so maybe he's sincere, I mean this is Harry we're talking about. Then the question is, what would he want to ask Spider-Man…..you don't think he found out his dad was the Green Goblin do you?"
Peter shook his head, "I don't know, I mean Norman destroyed most of his equipment when he was hiding evidence from the cops. Only thing that he had was that Van he used to travel around in and that thing is probably a heap by now. Harry knows that Spider-Man public enemy number 1 with Bullet gunning for me. And he wasn't really specific…man I really hope this isn't anything bad." he said worriedly. The last thing he wanted was to see his friend go down the same road as his father did with the law, it was no secret that Harry had been cleaning up his father's messes he made with Oscorp ever since the Fall. And he had done good on his word, they just set up a number of communication towers across Vale to help restore Scroll service.
The redhead cupped her chin in thought, "Maybe tell him that Spider-Man would like to meet, but he wants to use you as an intermediary?" MJ preposed.
Peter stopped his pacing and nodded, "That could work, I mean Harry trusts me more than Spider-Man obviously." he reasoned. MJ smirked playfully at the wording of that statement, "I…wait, he….oh you know what I mean." he said with a roll of his eyes before MJ stood from his bed.
The redhead smirked at him before leaning in, pecking the side of his face, "I do. Now then, onto important matters, the wedding." she said. Ned and Betty were being married in two days, Peter had gone to the rehearsal dinner last night and it went off without a hitch. "What are you wearing?" she asked, walking over to his closet. Opening it up, MJ looked over her boyfriend's somewhat limited selection of clothing before turning to him as he walked over.
"Well…..I have Ben's suit I wore to the Beacon Dance. Should still fit." he said bashfully as he pulled out the dress shirt, jacket, and pants. He glanced over at MJ, expected and exasperated look at the same outfit that he wore before, but instead he saw she was smiling fondly at the wardrobe. "Sorry I….I haven't really got anything new in terms of-" he began before MJ held up a hand to his face.
"Pete, don't sweat it. Doesn't matter the price tag." she said as she took the hanger and hovered it in front of him. "It just matters how good it looks on you." she said, easing her boyfriend's concerns. Her smile briefly faltered, "Um…this does still fit you right?" she asked, looking between Peter and the coat, while it wasn't all that long ago, Peter had gotten a little bit bigger in terms of stature since Beacon.
Peter slipped the coat off the hanger and put it on, back when May first gave it to him it was a little big, but now it seemed to fit perfectly. "Ah, see? There, no problem. Now-" MJ began before peter pulled his shirt up so he could try on the dress shirt as well. "-now….." she trailed off.
Peter noticed his girlfriend's pause and smirked, "You've seen me shirtless like a hundred times MJ."
"And it's such a shame you gotta hide something that pretty." She replied coyly, looking over his muscular chest. "Plus when I usually see it, I'm a little concerned with the bleeding and whatnot." she added, thinking of the times she's had to play nurse MJ and help Peter stich some wound up. Now If I could play doctor I wouldn't mind an close examination.
"What?" Peter barked out.
"What?" MJ mimicked.
Peter's grin gave her an answer, she said that last thing out loud. "Um…..welll-Mmmhhpp!" she smothered out before Peter kissed her on the lips. As quickly as he claimed them, he pulled back and away. MJ's felt her face warm up a little, "What happened to that shy little nerd I met in High school?" she asked, recalling how he would become flushed with embarrassment with such flirtation.
"First off, I'm not little." he said confidently, MJ felt her heart thump a little faster when he said that, "And second, he discovered you have a weakness for him with his shirt off." Peter replied coyly, MJ throwing his clothes at him as he chuckled. She crossed her arms and shook her head in amusement, "What about you? You got something to wear that won't steal Betty's thunder?" he asked.
The redhead nodded as he pulled off the dress shirt and began to button it up, "I will not hog the spotlight on someone's wedding day. Maybe turn a few heads, but yours is the only one I want glued to me. Stay away from those bridesmaids." she teased as he pulled on the sleeves of his shirt to make sure it fit.
"I don't know, they might tempt me with promises of a limo ride." he joked.
Mary Jane tilted her head as she shrugged her shoulders, "Eh, Limos aren't as fun as they're cracked up to be." she replied. "I've been in a few, unless you know everyone inside? It's kind of awkward." Peter unbuttoned his shirt and slipped it back onto the sperate hanger from his coat and pants. "Speaking of which, your still going to pick me up at 9 right?" she asked.
He nodded, "Yeah, I'll swing by your place and we get there before the ceremony starts, snap some candid pics, and then enjoy the wedding." he said, holding his pants up to his waist to check and see if they would be too short, thankfully they weren't.
"And then the after party." MJ added, holding a fist excitedly.
Peter slipped his regular clothes back on, "Your sure we'll be ok with you web swinging there though? I heard on the TV that they're going to be sending airships out to catch Spider-Man." Mary Jane asked with a little concern for her boyfriend. She had seen him dodge bullets from a few feet away, she didn't think an airship could do any better, but still, she was a little worried with how much the police were trying to catch him.
"Well worst case I give you my mask and web my face up so they don't see me." he reasoned with a shrug.
"Awww, you'd web your face for me?" MJ asked jokingly.
Peter stepped into her with an embrace, looking into her eyes as he smiled at her, "For you Mary Jane? I'd happily web my own mouth shut for two hours." he proclaimed with a suave voice that she giggled at before pecking him on the lips. Turning to his closet he looked down at the floorboards and sighed, "Before then through, I need to figure out what Harry wants with me."
Getting an appointment set up with the CCT down in Vale was a nightmare for everyone, instead of being able to call or get online to schedule one, everyone needed to commune to where they wanted to like back before the small devices even existed. It gave Peter an appreciation for his scroll that he didn't have before, but thankfully he and Harry both got lunch at Ditko's in midtown still. "Thanks Steve." Peter said to the owner as he set out their food. Harry looking at the Buffalo wings they ordered with hunger.
The man smiled and nodded, "Anytime you two. Let me know when you want the check." he said as he left the booth the two friends sat at.
Harry took one of the wings and dipped it in his ketchup, "So did you get a chance to talk with your….friend yet?" Harry asked, looking around the mostly empty restaurant. It was the middle of the day and Midtown didn't let out for another two hours, so the place wasn't at it's busiest.
"Yeah, I did actually." Peter replied, looking at his roommate with a observing eye, "He said that he needs to know some details before committing to whatever it is." he explained, Harry sighing and he laid his arms on the table. "Look, Harry, what is this all about? I mean I know Spidey is a good guy but the rest of the town wants him locked up…is there something going on?" he asked worriedly.
Harry ran a hand back through his hair, "Pete I…look I don't want to get you in trouble, I mean this wasn't my first choice but Spidey might be the only one who can help me." he said pleadingly.
Peter raised his hands, "Ok, ok, look Harry I apricate it but you're my best friend. What's going on?" he asked with genuine concern upon seeing Harry's frustration.
He let out a sigh, "Fine…..you know how we got the Oscorp network up? All the towers around town to carry Scroll service through the kingdom?" he asked. Peter nodded, "Well we've run into a problem, my tech guys told me that if we want to make our network available to the public, we need to granted access by the CCT." he explained.
Peter slowly nodded as he put the pieces together, "Which is currently unreachable due to all the Grimm." he reasoned.
Harry nodded, "Exactly, the CCT…..well you probably get it more then I do-" he started.
"The CCT's for their kingdoms allow service providers access to their customer's scrolls." he realized, "So without the system of the CCT at Beacon granting you access for your network-"
"Then we wasted over twelve billion Lien." Harry finished. "I reached out to Huntsmen, private and public, to see if they could reach the tower but they all said it's too dangerous for a team to go in alone, and even then getting out might not be possible on foot or by airship with all the Grimm." he explained. Peter pressed his lips together in contemplation, he had been at the Fall of Beacon, the place was a battlefield that night with Grimm everywhere but teachers and students alike at least held fast against them. But that was months ago, by now they we Huntsmen were trying to work their way into Beacon so they could clear it out. "So I thought…..well Spider-Man has been able to do stuff Huntsmen and Huntresses can't, and one guy, especially him, can probably move way faster then a whole team." he reasoned.
I mean….I probably could….and this could restore scroll service to the whole Kingdom, how many lives could be saved if I got it re-established? he thought, considering all the people who weren't able to dial 911 right now. "But because he's wanted, you didn't want me involved in case he gets caught?"
Harry shook his head, "Well no, more like if I got caught colluding with a known vigilante." he explained.
"Harry-" Peter began.
"Pete, your my best friend…..man, your like my brother….I couldn't put you in danger like that." the Osborn heir said guiltily.
His friend snorted before patting Harry on the shoulder from across the table, "Harry, that means a lot. But you should have just told me from the beginning." he said gratefully. Would have saved me some worrying. he thought to himself, "Look, I'll tell this to our mutual friend, he'll definitely accept." he said assuredly.
Harry looked at him with relief, "Thanks Pete….here's the plan, I don't know if he has a scroll or not but worst case he can borrow yours." he said as he pulled out his device and set the instructions to his friend's scroll, Peter nodded in understanding as Harry took another wing from the tray they had gotten. "Also, you gonna eat anything?" he asked, gesturing to the tray and his friend's empty plate. Peter looked down and swiped some wings onto his plate, getting a sizable douse of BBQ sauce for his food before digging in. Harry gave him a amused look, "I still think you use too much of that stuff."
"Hey, I don't tell you how to run a multimillion Lien business, you don't tell me what to put on my food." he replied before taking a mouth watering bite of his food and letting out a hum.
The two ate their remaining food with Harry, after some insisting on his part, paying the bill. The two went their separate ways, with Harry getting into his awaiting car and Peter walking around the corner to one of the old alleyes he used to change into his costume after school. Ahh, ye old stomping grounds. It's only been months but it feels like years. he thought jokingly as he pulled up his shirt and exposing his costume he wore underneath. Slipping out of his clothes, he webbed a backpack to store them inside before pulling his mask down over his face and walking up the wall of the alleyway, his scroll looking over the plans that Harry had sent to him.
It showed blueprints of the CCT tower at Beacon, as well as included the code needed to allow the Oscorp network to connect to the scrolls across the City of Vale. Reaching the rooftop, he leapt up onto an antenna and scrolled through the information, Well Harry I gotta admit, your guys did their research with this. No problem when I get to the CCT, but HOW I get there is another matter. he thought as he cupped his masked chin.
There weren't any airships going anywhere near the place where you could see a dragon at, even if it was somehow a statue. He could always web swing there, it would take a while but it wouldn't be the first time, problem was that he might get the attention of every Grimm there with him being the only person around. I might get swarmed….and with all the Grimm there I might not make it out. he thought .
Pocketing his scrill, he leapt from the antenna and out over the streets, throwing out a webline to carry himself as he thought, A way in or out that doesn't involve a ton of Grimm chomping me huh? Wish all of RWBY was around, then I could ask them for some help with this…..wait a second that's it! he thought as he spun another webline out to his left, turning towards the direction of the Huntsmen Guild's current headquarters.
Launching over a set of rooftops, he cast a webline out ahead of him and pulled it down as his legs reached forward, I'm thinking of the wrong Huntress here. I need someone who knows Beacon like the back of their hand. Ozpin had a secret underground Vault for the Fall Maiden, there's got to be some sort of secret entrance or something! he reasoned as he swung onwards to the Hotel that was being used as the Huntsmen and Huntresses' forward operating base.
Swinging around the back this time, as he remembered what happened at Christmas when he tried this from the front, he landed on the side of the building and crawled along the wall towards the penthouse. Reaching the top of the building, he peered inside one of the large windows and saw the living room area had been turned into a large makeshift office with various charts, papers and other forms of documents laid out in neat piles with various markings. Walking through the room in a set of high heels was none other than the current Headmistress of Beacon, Glynda Goodwitch.
Her emerald eyes looked over the report in her hands, a tap on her window made her reach for her riding crop and point it at the source of the noise on instinct, "Woah! Woah! Friendly! Friendly! In spite of whatever the newspapers might say about me." the wall crawler said as he held his hands up away from the glass he was sticking to by his feet.
The headmistress visibly relaxed, with a flick of her wrist the window Spider-Man was on unlocked, he pushed in the window that was on an axis and swung inside the room. "Sorry about that but I can't exactly call ahead, my service is out," he joked lamely. Glynda rolled her eyes at the attempt of humor.
"Mr. Parker, what are you doing here?" she asked tiredly. Peter proceeded to explain Harry's plan to re-establish communication across Vale, the admittedly skeptical headmistress slowly giving the plan merit. the vigilante showed her the schematics which Harry had sent him and began to see possibility. "I see….well it's certainly possible…..but like I told Mr. Osborn, I can't send in any Huntsmen ahead of our progress." she said as she tapped her scroll to project a holographic image of the Beacon school grounds.
There where easily a hundred Grimm of various types roaming the area from the overview shot, "This came in from a drone before it was destroyed shortly thereafter." Peter swallowed at the thought, he had taken care of his fair share of the creatures of darkness but that was a couple dozen at most, he'd be eaten alive by the end of the day with this many! "Our plan is to chip away at their forces until we can sweep the school safely." the professor said as she closed the image, looking down in regret, "I've lost too many students and huntsmen to risk anything else."
Spider-Man set his hand on his hip and rubbed the back of his head with the other, "Yeah….which is why I was hoping that the vault wasn't the only hidden thing Ozpin had at the school." he explained. The huntress crossed her arms unsurely, "I can go in, make the adjustments I need to get the network up, and then get out. I'm faster then any team of Huntsmen." he reasoned.
Cupping her chin, Glynda considered the possibility, "There is one way directly into the Vault that's in the basement of the CCT tower, it was how we transported Amber and the equipment there to begin with." she revealed, making Peter's hope rise before she lowered her hand. "Alright then, let's go." she stated.
The vigilante's head tilted as one of his lenses shrunk, "Uh, we?" he asked.
The professor nodded, "The entrance is sealed with biometric locks that only me, Qrow, and Professor Ozpin can unlock. Qrow is on a mission to Haven and with Ozpin…." she paused as a look of sadness briefly crossed her face, "….gone….I'm the only one." she informed. "Now then, are we going or not?" she asked.
The lakeside entrance to Beacon wasn't one that was often used due to airships, it used to be the only way to get to the Huntsmen Academy before the discovery of gravity dust manipulation could make aircraft. Which made it the perfect location for a secret entrance, "So….how is the retaking of your school going?" Peter asked as he sat in a motorboat which Glynda piloted with one hand on the motor in an attempt of small talk. The professor gave him an exasperated look, "Hey I'm just trying to be friendly, it's kind of my brand."
The headmistress sighed, "It's at a crawl." Spider-man raised a finger, "And no Mr. Parker, that was not some attempt of a joke." she added, making him lower his hand. "Clearing out Vale was easy with the help of the police and Vale's Armed Forces, but some don't want to help liberate what they see as the cause for all this." she said, looking up the cliffside to see a few giant Nevermores flying high in the sky above.
"I mean you could just tell people the truth. About Cinder, her master and all that." Spider-Man replied, "Show them that we have bigger problems to worry about."
Glynda shook her head, "It would cause chaos on an unprecedented scale, what happened in Vale when Cinder Fall manipulated the tournament? It'd be worse then that." she stated.
Spider-Man's lenses reflected Glynda's eyes back at her, "Look I get that it's a risk, but you know what I've seen since the Fall? People coming together, helping their neighbor, hell even Fisk saved people no matter how much I want to chew my own tongue for saying it." he said in a unsatisfied tone. "I mean I told my girlfriend and after a few minutes of existentialism she was fine with it."
Glynda snapped her head to him, "You told her?!"
"She's my girlfriend, of course I did. I mean she knows about this." he said, gesturing to himself in his costume. Glynda pinched the bridge of her nose with her thumb and index finger. "Look my point is, she got over it. Was it shocking? Yeah, I mean someone is ruling over Grimm, but you know the last year hasn't exactly been normal. I mean for crying out loud some crazy guy in his pajamas was swinging around town! Can you believe that?" he asked with joking sarcasm.
Glynda sighed, "I…..don't disagree." she admitted. "But she was one person, a whole kingdom? The whole world?"
"Well what was the plan when you finally beat her? I mean if you do then I gotta assume something is gonna change with the Grimm. Then do you tell them?" he asked as they neared the cliffside.
Goodwitch looked down, "Honestly…we never got that far."
Peter turned to the cliff wall, "Ok so, how do we get in this secret tunnel?" he asked as their boat neared the dock. Spider-Man leapt up onto the cliffside, making the boat rock somewhat as Goodwitch jumped up onto the dock with a rope to tie the boat to. After securing the boat in place the headmistress walked towards the elevator which carried the arrivals up to the school grounds, approaching the wall beside it as Spider-Man hopped over to the ground behind her, she pulled out her scroll and typed in a command.
Suddenly a section of the wall at her waist lid away and a beam of light shined out over Glynda before turning green in confirmation. Over the water, a large section of the cliff parted, the mechanical doors having folding in before sliding away to reveal a circular tunnel. Spider-Man leapt to the top of the dark tunnel and crawled inside, turning on his spider signal, it shined down the dark tunnel. Standing up from the ceiling, Glynda leapt inside and the two began their walk.
"How long is this thing?" he asked curiously.
"About half a mile, it shouldn't take too long to get there." Glynda explained.
Spider-Man turned his head back towards the entrance, "Could Ozpin have used this to get out? I mean no one has seen him since Beacon Fell, and Jaune mentioned that the last time he saw him was down in the Vault against Cinder." he recalled hopefully, Jaune had told Mary Jane everything that happened with Pyrrha before her funeral, which she informed Peter of right away.
However the headmistress shook her head, "No…..Ozpin….if he had survived the encounter with Cinder, he would be here." she replied.
Peter bowed his head, "I'm…I'm sorry. Last time I saw him….well you were there, I didn't exactly leave things off in a good place." he replied sadly. While he didn't agree with what Ozpin was doing with Pyrrha, that didn't mean he wanted someone to kill him. "I….I get why you were all doing what you were doing with Pyrrha…..after seeing what Cinder could do? One person having all that power…." he trailed off.
Glynda pursed her lips together, "If it's any consolation, Ozpin didn't make that decision lightly. We truly did try everything in our power to save Amber. But we were left with no other choice." she explained before a sharp look crossed her eyes. "I also was against it, but James insisted that we needed every advantage we could get over Salem."
Spider-Man turned to look at her, "What's her deal anyway? I mean, Qrow told me that she controls the Grimm, but he never gave me a 'why'." he asked curiously. All of his villains committed crimes for some reason or another. Otto wanted revenge against Norman, Norman wanted power, Electro wanted revenge against Ironwood, Sandman was just greedy, even Merlot wanted to create the perfect lifeform.
Glynda shook her head, "We don't know her reason, Ozpin simply told us that she planned to end all life. And that she employs agents like Cinder to do so." she told the wall crawler.
The vigilante sighed, "Man why can't evil be simple? I stop car jackers, muggers, save the occasional cat from a tree. Why does wiping humanity off the face of the planet have to be on the table?" he asked. He heard a chuckle and turned to Glynda who was stone faced, "Did you just-"
"No." she replied.
"But I swore I just heard you-"
"It must have been an echo." she denied.
Spider-Man grinned to himself as he continued walking on the ceiling down the tunnel.
Within a few minutes, the pair reached the end of the tunnel, Spider-Man's signal shining on a actual vault door that led underneath the CCT tower. "Oooooh, so this is why it's called a Vault." Spider-Man said as Glynda walked over to a panel beside the vault door and turned it on. "Glad the power is paid for in advance." he commented as Glynda pressed her hand down on the pad and unlocked the door.
The headmistress seemed relieved, " At least the power is working. You do know what you need to do?" she replied dutifully.
Spider-Man nodded, "Get to the 38th floor, allow the network to access the Oscorp server, and then get out of here. Easy." he said with a shrug as he shined his light into the vault. Spinning a web to the ceiling he swung out and turned to see the elevator doors that were busted open from Cinder escaping.
Landing on the ground he felt a quick tingle of his Spider Sense before he nearly slipped on something, "What the-" he looked down at the ground and saw a black smear, "Oh for the love of-please don't be Grimm…..wait do Grimm even…..ehh I'll ask Glynda when I get-" he began as he turned back to the hall and saw the Headmisterss walking to the machine that was used to store Amber. The inside of the pod where she was had it's glass fogged over, but there was an arrow sticking out of it.
"…..right." he said to himself before leaping onto the wall of the elevator shaft and began climbing.
As he left, Glynda looked forlornly at the pod that Amber was kept it, which now served as her tomb. Placing a hand against it, she bowed her head, "I'm sorry." she apologized respectfully before stepping away. As she turned to the elevator she noticed something, to the left of the aura transfer pods was a collapsed wall, lifting up her crop she summoned a small thing of fire with dust to light her way as she approached the rubble.
Reaching the collapsed wall, she let out a gasp when she recognized what was kept inside, "Oh Merciful brothers…." she whispered when she saw the broken canister that laid on the ground.
Crawling up the elevator shaft to the 38th floor of the tower was simple for Peter, wall crawling powers and all, but once he reached the floor with the server room, he found that things would not be as easy as initially thought. There was no power, as evidenced by the complete darkness the towers of computers usually held, "Oh perfect, I need to play IT support now." he cursed to himself. As he walked out of the elevator into the cylindrical room, around the elevator, the servers stretched out like they bloomed from the tall cylinder in the center of the room.
Jumping atop one of the server towers, he pulled out his scroll, "Ok, ok, ok, let's think here…power is in the Vault like Goodwitch said. So there must be something stopping it from reaching this floor." he reasoned as he pulled up the schematics that Harry had provided him. Sure enough the blueprints showed a power line that provided power to the entire floor of the tower…..the only problem being it was on the outside of the tower. "Perfect." Spider-Man said sarcastically as he shot a webline down to the wall above the elevator shaft and swung down inside, dropping down a floor.
Kicking the Elevator Doors off their hinges, he flung himself out into an office space and with aweb, pulled himself through the broken windows and swung himself on the windowstill out onto the wall. Looking down below at the horde of Grimm which covered the campus grounds, Peter swallowed. Ok….that's a lot more intimidating then a picture. he admitted as he scurried along the wall to where the power line was located.
Reaching where the power line was located, Peter saw a sealed section of the wall that was a panel to keep the power lines shielded and saw the problem, a shard from what looked like a an airship had embedded itself into the panel directly. Crawling over, he set his hand against the shrapnel and pulled it and the panel off, "Oh crap." Spider-Man said as his lenses narrowed, the main power line was cut.
"Ok, how do I fix these?" he asked himself. He needed to restore a current, now he could easily do that with his webbing but that's a short term solution that only lasts two hours at best. If I could fuse the wires together…..wait a second, Fire Dust! he realized, reaching into his belt and pulling out a small cartrage that contained the dust. If I remove the web fluid from my shooter, then I can use it like a small torch and fuse the wires together. he thought as he stuck the dust vial to one finger on his left hand while he used the others to remove the web cartage.
Tapping his finger against his palm, a small concentrated flame ignited at his wrist, "Thank you engineering!" he cheered to himself as he quickly went to work, fusing the wires together. Sparks flew as the circuit was reconnected, "Perfect. Now to just-" he started as his Spider Sense buzzed upwards. Looking up, Spider-Man's eyes widened, "…you have got to kidding me."
further up on the wall was a grim, however unlike most of which he faced this one was….ironic. It had eight narrow legs with bony protrusions up the sides of it's legs that led to a massive body that was the size of a small car. It's abdomen had bone armor on the top which grooved back towards it's spinneret, it's head had armor on top and around the eight red eyes it had, it's fangs dripping with a green substance as it focused on the red and blue vigilante. "Well now I have something to add to my nightmares." Peter said before the spider Grimm lunged at him. Spider-Man leapt back from the wall and cast a webline out to swing around the building from, the Spider Grimm scurrying across the wall after him.
"Ok I finally get why people hate me, if I was related to you?! I'd hate me too!" he exclaimed as he swung through the open window he came out of. Landing on the ground, the glass behind him shattered as the Spider Grimm broke through behind him. Landing on the ground, it's eight legs lifted it up and tung it's abdomen below it an sprayed a gooey green web at Spider-Man. Peter leapt over the webbing, "Oh god even your webbing is gross!" he said, shooting two lines down on either side of the grimm arachnid and pull himself feet first down onto it's head, slamming it into the ground and cracking it's skull apart before leaping off.
"Ew, ew, ew, ew, gross." Peter shuttered as he watched the carcass of the creature evaporate into ashes. "Ok as someone who has stuck their arm down the Lizzard's gullet? That was the grossest thing I've ever done. EVER." he said out loud before shuttering and jumping into the elevator shaft. Climbing back up to the server floor, he was relieved to see the power was restored and the towers were all lit up. Rushing over to the console, he booted up the holoscreen and began to input the commands to connect the servers to the network.
"Come on, come on, come on…" he repeated as he watched the server searching for the wireless network to connect to. When he saw the words 'Connection Established' he clapped his hands together, "YES!" he cheered as he raised his hands up in victory, reaching for his scroll he saw that he had service and quickly pulled up Harry's contact to tell him the good news when he felt his Spider Sense ring out above hum. Looking up, he where the Spider Grim had come from, with a large amount wires being pulled together to make a gigantic web where a half dozen of the Grimm where. "Oh shit." he squeaked out before they dropped down towards him.
Using a webline to zip over the elevator he slid onter the ground, turnining toto his hands and feet to stop himself in front of the elevator. Oh great! I gotta get rid of these things, but I can't fight them in here or they could wreck the place. Ok, well I know one place I can take care of them. he said before clapping his hands. "Hey! You all! With the multiple eyes and legs! You all make me ashamed to consider myself part arachnid!" he insulted.
The arachnds scampered after hum as he backflipped down the elevator shaft with the Grim Chasing after him. Turning around in midair, he inserted his web fluid back into his shooter and shot out some fire unfused webshots at one of the spiders, which were for all intent and purposes fireballs that burned the one Spider in front of the others. "Man I'm glad I upgraded my arsenal." Spider-Man said to himself. He kept firing fire-webs at the Grimm, killing two more of them before his sixthe sense warned him of the oncoming end of the saft.
"Well this is my stop!" he said as he cast out a webline, the string going tight as he reached the ground floor and swinging himself out into the Vault flipping through the air as he used another webline to swing around, "Good news! We have Wifif! Bad news! Those abominations!" spider-man called out to Glynda who turned to the elevator entrance to see the remaining five Spiders scurry out. "Ok I'll web them up and-" he started before she swept her riding crop across vertically, unleashing a torrent of fire from her dust that swept across the room, burning the Spiders to cinders. "-or….that…..so yeah I know I was teasing before but I swear I didn't mean anything by it." he said before dropping from his webline. "Now come on, let's get out of here before we find some other arachnid sized Grimm that want to eat us." he said, gesturing towards the tunnel he was walking towards.
Glynda looked back to the destroyed wall of the Vault, No, he's right. We need to leave. Besides there's no one around here, even if it got out months ago there's no way it could have survived long enough to reach Vale with how slow it travels, let alone another settlement. It'll probably die before it reaches anyone. she justified before following after Spider-Man down the tunnel they came from, closing the vault door behind them as they left.
After almost a year of almost no phone or internet services, it was no surprise that Peter's scroll was blowing up with activity. 'I can't believe you did this Tiger! This is awesome, I swear I'll never take internet for granted ever again.' MJ said to Peter's earpiece as he swung through the Kingdom of Vale, "Have you called Harry yet?" she asked.
Spider-Man pulled up on a webline as he approached the ledge of a building so that he spun over it vertically, "Tired to, but he texted me that he was busy in a meeting with his investors." he explained, casting out another webline as he fell. "And yeah, not gonna lie, I'm feeling pretty good about myself right now." he said happily as he reached the apex of his swing and flipped backwards with his arms spread out, "I'm gonna give Jean a Call tomorrow, with scrolls back up, we can finally coordinate again. And If we're gonna take Fisk down, it's gotta be before Bullet can get into office on the council." he said, shooting another webline out.
He heard MJ let out a groan on the other end, 'I know Bullet is bad, and he is corrupt as they come with Fisk pulling his strings. But you do realize that if you take him out of the race, Jonah will be in office?" she asked as Peter rasied another hand to shoot webbing from.
"Lesser of two evils MJ. Lesser of two evils." he reasoned.
'True.' MJ agreed as Spider-Man detached from a webline and stuck to a wall, turning back towards the various buildings and rooftops of the kingdom. The sun was beginning to set on the horizon, and the kingdom was Bathed in orange. 'So, now that we have phones again….what are you wearing?' she asked teasingly.
Peter smiled as he rolled his eyes, "Spidey costume. Boxers. A mask, web shooters, my Spidey belt if you count that. You?" he replied flirtatiously.
Feeling his scroll chime, he reached onto his belt and took it off and opened it, he nearly slipped off the side of the building from the image of MJ sitting on her bed, the angle was overhead with the redhead winking at him while wearing a pair of black short shorts and a white tank top, she was using her free hand to pull at the fabric so that the neck of the shirt was pulled down and eposed more of her cleavage to him. 'Well?' MJ asked almost shyly.
"Well I…nearly just fell off the wall I'm holding onto and…..gosh your beautiful. Have I told you that recently? Because….god you are." he replied, a little flushed from his girlfirend's boldness.
He could hear her giggle on the other side of the phone, 'Yes you have, and I love hearing you say it every time. Also, you can slip?' she asked.
"It's concentration and that….is very….attention holding." he replied carefully as he put his scroll away. Before MY could reply back, he heard a police siren kick in, "As much as I would like to continue this, duty calls milady." he said before leaing off the wall and shooting a webline in the directions of the police sirens.
'Go get 'em tiger.' MJ replied encouragingly before hanging up.
God I…..I really am a lucky guy aren't I? he asked himself as he swung after the police cruisers that were chasing a car down the road
Arriving back at the apartment building at night, Peter landed on the roof of his place with a grunt, the police had led him all the way across Vale to what turned out to be a simple misunderstanding when a kid was shooting his BB gun on the roof of a tenement building. Which Peter didn't even need to get involved with, but he had to swing his way back home from the other side of Vale. Ok, add make more web fluid to tomorrow's to do list. he thought tiredly as he walked to the skylight of his bathroom. Opening the window he easily slipped inside and dropped down into his bathroom where he took off his costume.
Gathering it up in his hands, he noticed that the black sludge he stepped in at beacon was still on the bottom of his boot. "Ugh. Gross. Well I can at least look up how to get grease stains out of spandex…..I mean I hope I can." he said as he opened up his closet and knelt down, removing the false floor he made and putting his costume in it's safe place.
Throwing on a pair of sweatpants, he entered the living room of his apartment and turned into the kitchen to find- "Liz?" he said, making the blonde jump as she was getting some milk from the fridge. His best friend's girlfriend was wearing Harry's Robe….and his shirt….and shorts.
….oooooohhhhh. Peter realized, Liz looking like a deer caught in the headlights of a car.
"Uh….hey Peter.." she replied awkwardly.
He ran a hand through his hair, "Um…..look how about you pass me that bottled water and we both move on from this?" he suggested good naturedly, giving her a smile of understanding. Liz smiled back as she reached in and handed him the bottled drink, "Thanks…..and house rule, no drinking milk directly from the jug." he added teasingly as he pointed to the jug in her hand.
Liz covered her mouth and snorted as Peter went back into his room, closing the door behind him. He and Harry had a few rules of the place that was pretty standard and reasonable, pick up after anything you do, once a week one of them vacuums with alternating turns, groceries are put on a list and whoever is heading out near a store gets what's on it at the time, simple stuff…but none of it covered having a girl over at this hour….or what they were doing at said hour of the night.
You know what, he's super cool with Me and MJ, I'm not gonna give him a hard time. Peter decided as he took a sip of his drink and walked to his bed. Picking up his scroll that he tossed onto his mattress, he laid down and began scrolling through the various news articles that had been published since the network came back on. Harry said that he couldn't mention Spider-Man in any capacity since it would implicate him and his company with a wanted fugitive.
And while it was great to have internet and scrolls back, it wasn't a replacement for the CCT, the towers that Harry set up didn't have nearly the range that could connect them to other Kingdoms. So they were still cut off, but now they were as well off as any of the other Kingdoms since the fall. Better to have some connection then no connection. he thought as he set it down on the small side table.
Opening up his messages, he once again saw the picture MJ sent him and blushed. He and MJ hadn't crossed that threshold yet, which didn't bother him in the slightest. He loved MJ and didn't want to push her into anything but….this wasn't exactly saying she wasn't open to it. Swallowing, he closed the messages of his scroll and went back to his home screen whiched showed him and MJ sitting together from a date they had, her head was on his shoulder with him kissing her on the top of her head.
He loved holding her like….well like any way, holding her hand was nice, hugging her was relaxing, and kissing her was just amazing. And it wasn't that Peter didn't have those types of thoughts about her but….it was a big step. For him a little moreso since he had never been with anyone like that.
MJ had a few experiences and that didn't bother him at all, if anything it was little comforting knowing that at least one of them would know what they were doing if they decided to do something. And…..talk with MJ. Add that to the list too. he decided before pluging his scroll in to charge and turning off the small light beside his bed. As he was pulled into the depths of sleep, he didn't notice the darkness ebbing acoss his floorboards from his closet.
Reaching the foot of his bed,, the inky black liquid reached out with strands od itself reaching up to the post, pulling itself up onto the bed an inching towards the sleeping Peter Parker. As soon as it touched his bare foort, the substace began to cover him, inching over him, his legs, first being black as night, then his torso while some went around his arms.
As it reached his neck and head, it suddenly realized something.
He is…wrong.
Peter's eyes snapped open at the voice he heard, blinking a few times he raised a hand to his head, "Ugh….what the hell?" he asked himself as his eyes began to adjust to his surroundigns. He was having a weird dream, that he was web swinging around the city, which by itself was a little odd since he had never had a dream like that before when suddenly out of the blue heard a voice that was…..it sounded like it was from him but…not? As his eyes finally adjusted, he found that he wasn't in his bed like he had thought he was. Instead he was suspended upside down with his feet on their side of the webline
Looking ahead of him, staring back at him in the reflection of glass was….himself?
But he looked different. The costume he wore was completely black, the only color was the white spider that was gigantic on his chest with pincers visible It's abdomen was much more angular and wide but it narrowed off towards his navel with the sinnerets making a small angular gap. The legs of the spider were just as big and connected with only thin lines of black separating them, they all angled up to a point from the abdomen to his pectorals before angling down underneath his arms and matching up with the identical symbol on his back. on top of his hands were also two white square pads. And the same large pair of white eyes on his mask that he had.
"What the hell!?"
AN: Yeah kind of a expected place to leave off but I mean…..much as I don't like how much Avi Arad's control of Spider-Man, this scene in the animated series is really cool and…..oh what? Oh you thought it was in the movie first! Nope ! Dude made the episodes where the alien costume is in the 90's series and did the exact same shot with peter waking up upside down with the costume on him.
I mean…..I don't think you can rip yourself off or anything, but I mean….isn't that kinda self indulgent? I'm legitimately asking, because it's an awesome scene but you already did that before…..I don't know, what do you think?
Moving on to Spider-Man news…..Spider-Man beyond is…a thing…..I think it's just repeating mistakes but hey that's just me. I love Ben Reily too but…we did this already….in the 90's…..in what was thought to be the worst Spider-Man period ever before One More Day…..So….YEAH. How long this is gonna last? Probably until issue 900.
Now that's not to say it won't be good…..I mean I doubt it since this is what they did after OMD….and then we got Slott. But Optimism!
In the meantime, I'm reading through Tom Taylor' Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Which is fun since it's by Tom Taylor and he loves the character.
In RWBY news, we're getting a Neo and Roman book?! That's pretty cool!
Also we're getting aRWBY Beyond panel at RTX year, so maybe we're gonna see what they have in store for the future of the series and what happens when it eventually ends?
Also….it's HORRIFYING to think of a grimm spider…..and now you have it…have fun with those nightmares…..
In other news I'm…slowly….very slowly….posting this series over on Ao3. I'm hoping to get to the point where I can just update them at the same time but until then I'm kind of doing it in bursts. But considering that I'm still on Volume 1, it's gonna be a while.
Until next chapter everyone!
