Union pt 2
AN: I want to take a moment to apologize to everyone, ever since the start of this volume I've taken a really aggressive stance on some responses to reviews for bringing up Peter and Yang. I've stated reasoning for what happened and ultimately it's lead to even more confusion, anger, and ultimately arguments. And that's the last thing that I want.
It's my own fault for being so aggressive, I've just heard 'When are you going to get them back together?' so much that it honestly triggers me to hear it now. I thought that by being firmer with my responses that it would make it stop but that wasn't the way I should have gone about it. I read every review and response to all my works because I want to improve as a writer.
I thought that how I broke them up made sense but it's clearly a weak point in my writing, my only hope is that I don't ever make the same mistake that I did with that writing. And again, I'm truly sorry for escalating things.
Gamelover41592: Thanks!
Guest 1 (2): Sorry, let me try and word this better, our right that he didn't tell MJ he was Spider-Man, she found out about it. But what makes Peter trust her is that she didn't tell anyone about it. And I have overcomplicated this part, so I'll try and put it as simply as I can. Peter doesn't trust Yang at that moment, and he feels that it's not fair to her that he should ask for her to fully trust him, Because if he does then that would make him a hypocrite since he can't tell her that he's Spider-Man.
And telling someone that he's dated for like….a month that he's Spider-Man just isn't smart. I mean in my mind, you tell your SO you're a superhero when you fall in love with them. Peter I think did that with Black Cat in the comics. And Peter and Yang never reached that point where he thought he could tell her.
In short, Peter couldn't ask Yang to be honest with him if he wasn't willing to tell her he was Spider-Man, and he wasn't.
Guest 2: I mean I don't know if people want to see more of Ruby and the Punisher or more chapters like that, if you do then please tell me!
pyrojack25: You'll find out here ;)
Spider-Man Fan: I think I understand what you mean? Like the only reason MJ and Peter are dating is so that Pyrrha is linked to Peter in some way?
I can understand that Peter and Pyrrha didn't have a lot of screen time together so they don't have a big connection or anything, but he's just torn up about what happened to her because he failed to save her. Because that's who Peter is, if someone died around him and he could have possibility done something to stop it of course he'd feel responsible, and even guilty about it.
And it's more tragic on MJ's end, it's why I had just scenes with them together so that people would feel MJ's pain of losing a family member. And it's all the more tragic because Pyrrha was, unintentionally, a source of pain for her due to her own family's drama and she worked past that to get someone who actually treated her like family outside of her Aunt.
Maelstrom Ressurected: Ok I PROMISE, this isn't going to reach spider-man 3 levels of black suit.
RadBman21: That is fair actually. And I'm glad you caught that! There's a reason for it and….I'm not going to say why exactly because of spoilers.
: I did not write that chapter to spite anyone, I can see how you could come to that conclusion though. And your right, there is a time and place to blow off steam and this story isn't it, I let my emptions get the better of me at times before but going forward I'm going to try my hardest to be professional.
And In total honestly this chapter was more to plant seeds for how Blake and Yang develop their relationship in the future, now personally I like them together but how their reunion happened in the show is….kind of a mixed bag for me? I've talked about this before, I just find it really weird how Yang is angry at blake for leaving (as one understandably would be given the circumstances) and is later Ok with it later on once Weiss talks to her about why she left.
I don't know if I'll totally expand things to feel more natural or not, I would like to because I feel like it was going to be? But I think that this is a important part of that as Yang realizing that she liked Blake in that way not only makes her departure from Yang more tragic, but adds to that for later.
Guest 3: Well I thought they were similar because they both had to take care of family after a death in it. Peter with may, Yang with Ruby. Plus they both made jokes.
Guest 4: I mean I wouldn't call restoring cell service trying to save the world, more just helping the city. And when I think about 'Saving the world', I think like facing a world ending thereat and beating it. Or saving a country, or stopping a war, or something like that.
Superjoeyf721: Well that's what fanfiction is for. But No I don't think Disney is going to buy Warnner Bros. For one thing, while I like the properties that Disney has, I do not want them to be the only entertainment source. That's why we have antitrust laws in America, to ensure fair competition.
Within the time Peter had been a superhero, he had admittedly had some bizarre experiences. But waking up on the side of a building in a costume he's never seen before? That took the cake! "What in the actual hell?" he as he touched the side of his head, watching as his reflection mimicked his actions. The white eyes of his costume looked back at him as he gripped the webline with his hands and let his feet fall from it, swinging himself forward onto the window and sticking to it. "Where did it….how did I even get here?!" he exclaimed as he looked around the area. From what he saw he was around the Faunus Quarter of Vale.
Peter raised his hands, "Ok Parker, stop for a minute." he said to himself, calming himself down. "You're a scientist, let's look at the facts. I'm in a costume I've never seen before for one thing." he said as he looked down at his hands, the pitch black material of the costume starkly different from the bright red and blue he was accustomed to wearing. Reaching for his wrist, he tried to locate a seam to see if he had his webshooters on too, but found nothing. "Wait a second…." he said as he felt around his neck for where the mask to this thing was.
When it wasn't there, he felt down his back, "Oh no." he said, his hands reaching around his waist for anything at this point. A zipper, a seam, anything that could get this off him. Grabbing the suit at his arm, he pulled it with the intent to rip a part of it off him, only for the material to stretch tightly in his grasp, making his white eyes widen, "Oooooh no." he drawled out.
"Ok, analysis. I don't know what this costume is, but apparently I can't take it off…..oh man…..going to the bathroom is going to be a problem." he said to himself.
The sound of a siren below made him look down to the streets below. Down the road the red and blue lights of a cruiser lit up the street, the foot traffic wasn't immensely busy but there were a couple people around, most of them Faunus. Spider-Man slid down the side of the building and watched as the car stopped in front of a convenience store. A pair of officers exited the cruiser and walked to the store as another human exited, "Thanks for coming officers, I've told him to return the stuff he tried to pocket but he won't." he explained.
The tension left Peter's muscles as he listened in, sitting back against the wall he let out a sigh. When he first started being Spider-Man he made the assumption that every time police were called to deal with something it was something exciting like a robbery or a car jacking. But in reality there were plenty of just annoying situations that he had swung upon, like that one time he found a massive case of public nudity…..don't ask.
Seriously. Don't. Ask.
"But I wasn't doing anything!" he heard a young voice say below, looking down his eyes widened when he recognized the kid being pulled out of the store.
MILES?! he exclaimed internally. It was indeed the same tiger faunus kid he had met back at Christmas. The teen was being pulled out of the convenience store in handcuffs, he seemed to take a breath and calm himself down before speaking clearly.
"Officers, I don't have anything on me. I have money in my wallet, I was just messaging my friend and asking what he wanted." he explained complacently as the store owner watched them leave.
"Oh nice try! There's no service! How dumb do I look?" the owner asked as one of the officers tried to pull Miles towards the car. A few of the passersbys stopped and watched the scene unfold. Peter felt the urge to intervene, but he hoped the situation would resolve itself and he wouldn't need to get involved.
"It's true! Service is back!" One of the faunus said, holding up her scroll and waving it.
The storeowner pointed at her angerly, "Hey you stay out of this!" he shot back with vitriol. The woman still held up her scroll, clearly recording the event as it transpired. "And he was shoplifting!" the owner said, pointing at Miles. Peter felt anger start to bubble up in the pit of his stomach. He didn't know the kid well, but so far it was only this guy's word against Miles' as the only evidence.
"I didn't!" Miles barked out, taking a step towards the storeowner, the teen's balance was suddenly shifted forward by the officer behind him, pushing him down against the ground. Miles yelped as his chin hit the pavement. "Hey! Let me go! I didn't-" miles started before the officer holding him planted a knee on his back. Peter gritted his teeth as his anger finally snapped.
"Screw this!" he decided, leaping off the wall with a flip through the air before landing atop the police cruiser with a loud 'THUD', making the two officers and the store owner jump at the startling now sight of the vigilante. "I don't know what possibly makes you think that this is ok, but I'm going to tell you right now it's the farthest thing from." Spider-Man growled out. The officer pulled his gun and fired, Spider-Man tilting himself to the side to dodge the bullet as he flipped off the car, kicking the officer's hand down as he landed and knocking the weapon from his hand. "And just when I thought you couldn't be dumber!" he exclaimed before grabbing the officer by the front of his uniform and hoisting him up over his head as his partner aimed his own weapon.
"Down! On your knees! Now! Or I'll shoot!" he barked at the webhead. Peter couldn't exactly blame him for his reaction.
Spider-Man leveled his empty hand at him, "Easy there lone ranger." he said, Shit if only I could make- he started to think before a shot of white webbing fired out from the top of his hand and encased the gun to the officer's hand. "-webs?" he asked in surprise, looking at his hand before lowering the police officer he had in his hand and encasing him with webbing. "Ok. Webs." he said in affirmation as the other officer tried to pull the webbing off his gun and hand.
"S….Spidey?" he asked, clearly confused.
Peter turned to Miles who was looking up at him from the ground with confusion, he waved his hand, "Uh….hey." he greeted a little awkwardly before his Spider Sense rang.
Looking up to the door, he saw the store owner aiming a double barreled shotgun at him! "Wait don't-" he started before the owner pulled the trigger.
He dove aside with the police officer in hand and caught himself on his hand before shooting up off the ground where the owner shot his other barrel. Landing on a streetlamp above the front of the store, he looked down to see Miles huddled in on himself in fear, "Ok! That's it!" Spider-Man growled out. Looping a web abound the officer and the streetlamp before launch himself down in front of the store owner.
"What I wrong with you?!" he bellowed at the over before snatching his gun out of his hands, "You fire a gun on the street where there's a kid handcuffed?! And you shoot at me wile I'm holding someone?!" he barked out, his hands tightening around the shotgun before breaking it in half. The storeowner falling back in fear as the dark vigilante loomed over him, Peter leveled his fists at him and sprayed him with webbing, trapping him against the ground in front of his store.
Tossing the remnants of the shotgun aside, he walked over to Miles who was still tucking his knees into his chest, "Hey, hey Miles, it's me. It's ok." he said, gently helping the boy sit up. Miles let his legs slide out as Spider-Man snapped off the handcuffs, "You ok?" he asked.
Miles covered his ears, "Are my ears supposed to be ringing this much?" he asked loudly.
Peter let ought a breath of relief, "Yeah. That's natural." he said, offering his hand to help the kid up onto his feet.
"Hey! You can't do that!" Spider-Man and Miles turned to the other officer who was taking cover by the hood of his car, "He's a suspect!"
"For what?! Shoplifting? Do you really even need to handcuff him for that?" Spider-Man asked.
Miles crossed his arms over his chest, "No, they didn't. They're supposed to make me return what I took and then escort me out of the store. Like my dad does whenever he gets called in on one." he said, giving the officer a look before turning to Spider-Man. "All they did was cuff me and take me out! Man, I didn't even pick anything up!" he said defensively.
Spider-Man raised a hand, "Relax, look, call your dad, tell him what happened here, and get him over here. Sounds like you didn't do anything wrong so you shouldn't get in trouble." he said. He then turned to the officer, "And you!" he said, the officer lowering slightly from the tone of the wall crawler, "I catch you or your buddy harassing anyone else? I'll stick the two of you on the side of the nearest precinct." he threatened.
Miles gave the vigilante a grateful smile, "Thanks Spidey….dig the new suit by the way." he said, Peter looking down at his 'costume'.
"Yeah….thanks….now then how do I-" he began before lifting his hand, as he thought of shooting a webline, the string shot out from the top of his hand. "Ok there we go." he said before pulling back on it and shotting up into the air. Swinging away as the bystanders continued recording. And the officer getting into the car and onto the radio to call in the sighting of Spider-Man.
"Ok! This is-" Peter said as he flicked his wrist, only to correct his hand's posture before another web shot out of it. "-weird. But doable." he commented to himself. Connecting a cord to a nearby wall, he swung down and kicked off the webline, flinging himself over a building as he shot another web out. But how does this thing even work?! I'm just thinking it and the webbing is just…going! Could the suit be some sort of tech? he wondered.
Landing on the brick wall of a building, he cupped his chin with one hand as he pondered the possibility. Ok, heroics, if I can call assaulting policemen heroic, aside. I need to figure out what the hell this thing is. he thought as he scaled the side of the building, breaking out into a jog across the rooftop before leaping off the side. Swinging down towards the street, he felt his sixth sense go off as a car sped below him through a red light. "Crap, it's gonna be one of those nights." he said, turing around in mid-air and puling himself after the car as it weaved down the road through traffic.
Further down the road he saw a traffic jam, Ok Spidey gotta stop him before he hits that! he thought as he flung off his web and onto the trunk of the car. The driver looked back in a panic, clearly they weren't meaning to do this but for some reason their breaks weren't responding. "See this? This is what happens when you put a sticker over your check engine light!" Spider-Man joked. Before Swinging himself over the roof of the car and bracing his feet against the front, shooting out a pair of weblines to either side of the street where they attached to the buildings.
Bracing himself, he expected more force against him from the speeding car, but he felt less resistance then usual as he fought against the momentum the car had. Soon, the car slowed to a stop in the road, and Spider-Man backflipped off, webbing the wheels in place. What the….that was….easier then usual…..am I….stronger then before? he thought curiously as he looked down at his hands.
He had certainly become stronger since he first started being Spider-Man but this was like….well, a boost. Looking up to the building beside him, he tilted his head, "I wonder…." he crouched down before shooting up into the air in a leap. Peter's last record he had for his jump height put him at about six or seven stories, the building in front of him was about ten.
So when Peter overshot it, he was more then surprised, "HOLY-" he exclaimed, looking down to see he had actually cleared the building's length as well. He reached back and grabbed onto the ledge on the opposite side. "Woah! Ok, that…..this is weird." he admitted. Somehow this suit could both read his thoughts, and augment his Spider Powers?!
Swinging himself up onto the ledge of the building into a crouch, Peter took a moment to consider the situation, "This…..this couldn't be my own Spider powers could it? Some sort of secondary mutation?" he briefly considered before shaking his head, "No, that doesn't make sense, I mean this stuff isn't hair, it's….gooey." he said as he once more pulled at a part of his costume. "Ok, I need to take a closer look at this stuff…maybe Doctor Conners?" he pondered, the former Lizard was probably his best bet as he was a genetic expert and could tell what this stuff is.
"Conners might be my best bet, hopefully this thing doesn't have any more surprises-" he began before a light shined down onto him from above. Raising his hand to look up, he saw a police airship targeting him with it's searchlight. "-of course you Jinxed it Spidey."
"Spider-Man! Stay where you are, and put your hands on your head!" the loudspeaker ordered.
Spider-Man dove off the rooftop, "Sorry but, I'm not gonna let you guys arrest me today!" he shouted as he spun out a webline from atop his hand and swung away from the airship as it flew after him. Ok, slight change of plans, loose the airship, THEN go see Conners. Peter correctedas he swung around the side of a building before shooting out another strand, the airship following behind him. Feeling his Spider Sense blare, the vigilante shot a web off to the side and pulled himself as abolt of static shot by him. "Crap! They're using Electric Dust." he said as he hit the wall of the building and sprinted down it. "Please don't be dumb enough to shoot at a building!" he exclaimed.
Thankfully the airship held it's fire, however the building's ledge was coming up, looking ahead he shot a webline up to the corner of the building before leaping off ahead and making a quick turn. Launching himself higher up, his sixth sense once more warned him of a electrical bolt heading towards him. Twirling his body around the static barely missed him but he could feel his hair stand up on end from how close it came.
Aiming his hand ahead of him, he zipped towards a slightly taller building then the surrounding ones, attaching a line to it he swung off at an angle and caught sight of a construction yard, "Perfect!" he exclaimed as he swung towards it. Reaching the yard, he swung low towards the ground before letting off his line and catapulting himself up into the unfinished building, the airship's light shining down onto one of the finished floors and losing sight of Spider-Man.
The Airship flew over the yard where the doors on either side opened up and lines extended out, fully armored S.W.A.T. troopers repelled down, all the while Spider-Man watched from the ceiling of the second floor, shadows covering him and his new costume hiding him well. He watched as the troops were dropped off and the Airship took off and provided an eye in the sky for the officers. Ok so I'm not swinging out of this one, if I do then they'll just chase after me again. he thought as he crawled away, hearing as the officers reached his floor.
Staying on the ceiling, he slowly crawled across it as he officers shined their lights around, "Are we sure that was Spider-Man? He wasn't wearing the costume." one asked.
"You know anyone else who can swing between buildings?" another asked.
"Stow it! And check everywhere, guy can crawl on walls, check the ceiling." the leader said, one of the men shining his light upward as Spider-Man dropped down and snuck around a corner of a support beam.
Ok, let's get a little creative. he thought, peeking out from around the corner and seeing one of the flashbangs on the officer's belt. He raised his hand and fired a thin strand of webbing at the pin it had. With a tug, he pulled the pin, there was a resounding 'Click'.
"What was-" one of them asked before a loud and bright flash stunned the group.
Spider-Man ran out from behind the pillar and leapt over them, "Wow that was loud! I know you can't hear me over your ringing ears but WOW that was SUPER loud!" he yelled out as he leapt over them, pivoting on the ceiling above them before wrapping the group up in a large web.
Grabbing the webbing he threw the team of men out the side of the unfinished building, attaching the end of the webbing to one of the support beams so that they wouldn't fall all the way down to the ground. When he saw the slight of the aircraft shine down onto them, Spider-Man took off through the opposite side of the construction site. Leaping from the construction yard to a alleyway, Peter ran and turned the corner so he was out of sight of the construction yard.
Man that was close, I gotta get off the streets, it's like they got the whole force out gunning for me. he thought as he continued down the alley to another turn. Stopping at the corner, he peeked out to see a police car drive down the road with it's lights flashing. Pulling back from the corner he looked down at himself, This would be easier if I had some clothes to wear instead of whatever this costume is! he thought in frustration.
As soon as he finished his thought however, the costume he wore shifted, his gloves pulled back into sleeves, his mask receded down his face and to his collar, and his pants became baggy! "What the hell?!" He yelped out as he looked down to see his costume morph into a set of dark jeans, shoes, a white T shirt, and black coat! Turning his head around to look himself over, Peter was stunned to say the least.
"H-How? That's….what is this thing?!" he asked in amazement. Patting his shirt, he was shocked to find the texture the same as an ACTUAL shirt! Ok! Technology is out the window! Whatever this thing is, it can mimic clothing, and respond to my thoughts! he thought in amazement as he walked out of the alleyway and out onto the sidewalk.
As the adrenaline drained from his system, fatigue began to set into Peter, Geeze I feel like I just ran a marathon….not surprising, I got like what? Three hours of sleep after my jaunt with Glynda through Beacon? he thought before letting out a yawn. His escape from the police didn't really help, and he was pretty sure that however he got out here in the first place didn't help much either.
Man…..I need to sleep, I'll visit the Conner's tomorrow. I mean this thing hasn't done anything to hurt me. he thought as he reached a fork in the road and turned in the direction of his apartment.
Peter's eyes creaked open to the sunlight filtering through the blinds of his window, turning over in bed, he pulled the end of his pillow over his head and groaned. He had gotten back to his apartment to realize that his keys, scroll, and wallet were all inside on his nightstand, so crawling up the side of the building, he entered through the skylight in his bathroom and collapsed onto his bed and slept.
Must….sleep….more. he thought groggily. Then his scroll rang for the first time in months, Ugh….I regret all of yesterday. I should have let that tower be. Nothing good can come of instantaneous communication. he thought as he rolled back over and reached for his scroll. It was then he realized he still had his 'clothes' on from last night. Looking down at himself he groaned, "Crap. I still need to deal with this." he breathed out before grabbing his scroll and seeing who was calling him this ear-
?! Holy shit! he thought as he answered the call, "Uh, hello?"
'Peter! It's me, MJ, have you seen the news?' she asked as her boyfriend rubbed his eyes, and swung his feet over the bed.
Ooooh man whatever's on the news has nothing on what I've been through. he thought, "No, I just woke up. What's happening?" he asked groggily.
'You just-Peter are you ok? You didn't get hurt did you?' MJ asked in a worried tone.
He shook his head, "What? No I-what are you talking about?" he asked in confusion.
'Peter, there's a video of….you? I think? On every news station telling how you assaulted like a dozen cops last night!' she exclaimed.
THAT woke Peter up, "Assul-they sicked a S.W.A.T. team on me after I stopped a pair of cops from roughing up a kid!" he defended.
'Yeah I-Wait that was you? But you were…black and white.' she replied with just as much confusion as he had.
He nodded as he stood from his bed, "Yeah, yeah it was…..look MJ last night I..I don't even know where to start." he said, running a hand through his hair. Thinking back on it felt like he was remembering some fever dream, how it even happened to begin with was still a mystery.
'Start when I get over there, I'm down the street right now.' she replied.
Peter let out a breath, "Thank you….you're gonna think I'm crazy."
'Tiger you swing around in spandex, I already KNEW you were crazy.' he replied back playfully.
Hanging up, it was barely five minutes before there was a knock at his door and MJ entered the apartment. Sitting down with some cups of coffee, Peter laid out everything that happened to him last night for MJ to digest. When he was finished, he was ready for her to think he was finally going crazy after all the stress of being Spider-Man. But instead she sat beside him and let out a sigh of relief, "Well thank god you're alright."
"Define alright? Does having a mystery suit from who knows where sound alright?" he asked before taking a drink of his coffee. Setting it down he blinked the sleep out of his eyes, "I still can't believe it all happened." he admitted.
MJ's hand reached out and grasped his, "Well there's five minutes of scroll footage on loop saying that it did." she said as she pulled her own scroll out and showed him the video that captured his confrontation with he police. Peter pressed his lips together, he had never outright fought the police before, yes he was a vigilante and they had shot at him a number of times, but he never fought back against them! "People are behind you, they saw what was happening to Miles and it's agreed that those cops were going too far."
Peter leaned back against the couch, "Well that's good to hear, maybe I'll get off when I'm arrested?" he asked jokingly, flashing a smile to MJ. She smirked back at the return of his attitude, "I'm just glad that Miles is ok."
"Same." she said before pocketing the device, "So this suit…..your wearing it right now?" she asked, looking at his dark clothing. Peter looked down and nodded, MJ tentatively reached out and touched the fabric, "This is super weird, this doesn't feel any different then what this material would be like." she said in awe.
Peter stood up from the couch and ran a hand over his head, "I just want to know how to get it off me. I don't mind free clothes, but I can't wear this thing 24/7." he said, sliding his hand over his hair before dropping it against his side.
Mary Jane cupped her chin, "Well….you said it responded to your thoughts right? Have you…thought just 'Get off?'" she asked.
Peter looked down at himself unsurely, it was worth a try. Ok…..get off please? he thought, his clothing slid off him, shot across the ground onto the couch beside MJ, who fell off in shock, and turned into the empty costume he woke up in. "Oh thank god." Peter breathed out in relief, a weight being lifted off his shoulders as MJ leaned over and looked at the suit with genuine fascination. "I wouldn't touch it." Peter warned.
MJ turned to him and her eyes immediately widened, "Um….Peter…" she started, trying her hardest not to stare.
Peter raised a brow before realizing that he felt a draft. "OH GOD!' he shrieked when he realized he was no longer wearing anything. The suit shot off the couch and covered him once more, Peter's face flush red with embarrassment as MJ pursed her lips together. "So…..yeah…..it uh…..it can come off."
"I saw that." MJ replied with a cheeky smile. "Saw a lot more then that too." she added, winking at Peter who felt his face heat up even more. MJ smirked as she shook her head, "Oh relax, I'mjust appreciating the view tiger." she joked. Peter rolled his eyes as he tugged as the collar of his 'jacket', concenrtrating, he watched as it shifted from black to light grey, and his shirt to red. MJ's eyes widened, "Holy crap you can change the color?!"
"Apparently…..I wonder…" he thought and his clothing changed to that of a Beacon School uniform.
MJ shook her head in disbelief, "Ok yeah this is…..freaky. Even for us."
"Well….it can come off, but where the hell did it even come from?" he asked, thinking of the costume and having his clothing sift around him to form the same costume as last night. "I thought it might be some sort of tech but there's nothing that can do this.
MJ stood up and walked around Peter observantly, "Well I'll say this, the design is really solid. Way different from your classic suit." she said on a more upbeat note. Her eyes looked into his, "Well whenever I misplace-"
"You mean lose. You lose things." Peter remarked jokingly.
MJ poked his chest, "MISPLACE things. I just retrace my steps. So that will probably narrow it down. So where were you yesterday?" she asked.
"Ok, putting a pin in the you losing thing for later," he said swiftly, MJ giving him a look, "Yesterday….starting here, I went tomeet Harry at Ditko's, stopped a mugging on my way there."
"Think we can rule Ditko's out. After that?" she asked.
"After that I went to see Goodwitch about getting into Beacon to help get the CCT up." he continued.
MJ nodded, "Ok, thanks for that by the way."
"Public service. Anyway, we went to get a boat, went to the secret Vault entrance that led to the CCT tower, got my business done there and then came back, got distracted by a police car. Then came back, went to bed, then two hours later I'm hanging upside down on the side of a building." he recalled.
MJ pursed her lips together in thought, "Ok did anything weird happen?" she asked, Peter sahking his head, MJ let out a frustrated huff. "Then…..wait a minute." she said as she pulled out her scroll and opened her social media. "You said you didn't know how you got to the Faunus Quarter right?" she asked.
Peter nodded, "Yeah I woke up there."
"Well maybe you didn't?" MJ poised, "I mean you had to have swung there right? So maybe something happened to you that made you forget where you picked the costume up?" she asked before stopping on a photo on her scroll, "Look at this." she said, holding up a blurry image of him in his dark costume, the photo was taken an hour before he woke up.
"Huh…..maybe that's it. I just need to re-trace my steps from last night and hopefully I'll find out where this came from." he said, the mask of his costume sliding back before he leaned forward and kissed MJ on the lips. "Your amazing, thank you." he said gratefully.
She rolled her eyes, "I know." she said as she pocketed her scroll, Peter's hand taking her's in his.
"No I….. I mean it….really." he said, the redhead looking at him with concern, "I thought…..for a minute I thought I was going crazy." he admitted.
MJ smiled at him, lifting her hand up and cupping the side of his face before bringing herself in to kiss him properly, Peter relaxed against the smoothness of her lips for a moment before she pulled away. "Hey, I love you. Crazy or not, and in this case I doubt your crazy. Just confused." she replied, leaning her head against his.
Peter wrapped his arms around her, MJ's head leaning against his shoulder, the texture of the costume felt odd, but not unwelcome. Pulling away, she smiled at him, "And remember detective, we got a date tomorrow." she reminded him.
Her boyfriend's confused face quickly melted to realization, "Crap the wedding! I nearly forgot. Thanks. I'll set a timer on my scroll….." he started before he reached down to find his costume didn't have a belt. And what's worse he had his scroll in his pocket when he had it as clothing. "Uhh…..scroll?" he asked. A portion of his costume around his navel opened up and presented his device to him.
MJ watched as Peter took it from his costume. "….hey when you find out where this came from, see if they have another." she suddenly added.
Peter watched as a police airship flew overhead above the rooftops, after how last night went he decided that going out as Spider-Man to retrace his steps wasn't the brightest idea. 'Well what do you expect after what happened last night?' Jean's voice asked him from his scroll which he help up to his ear as he walked. He had called her on his way to check in on how things were at the police with what he did the night before.
"Jean, come on if you honestly think those two were right with how they handled that kid-" he began defensively.
'No, I'm not. Those two will be lucky if they wind up at a desk for the rest of their careers.' Jean swiftly replied. 'I'm just saying, you escalated things last night and now, Bullet has every reason to send cops after you now.' she explained. Peter let out a tired sigh, he needed to deal with Bullet, but he was just another pawn of Fisk, he needed to deal with him to ultimately make things better.
"Have you found anything out about him? Anything that can discredit him?" he asked as he stopped at a street corner.
'So far? Nothing, he's got his eyes on me I'm sure of it. And it's not like I can just ask a judge for records on a D.A. without the D.A. knowing.' she explained.
"Well tell you what, once I'm done looking into this thing I'm doing? I'll see if I can't do something to help." he offered as he looked up at the space between buildings, this was round the spot where the first photo of him in the black suit was taken. His hope was that if he investigated the area he would find some sort of clue to what exactly happened to him the night before.
'Alright. Thanks, speaking of which, what's with the new threads?' she asked. 'You didn't strike me as the type to go through an emo phase.' she teased.
Peter let out a gasp, "Did…..you just make a joke? At my expense?" he asked delightfully. His response was her hanging up on him, Peter smiled to himself, "Yeah I'm totally rubbing off on her." he said to himself happily as he continued his search on the ground.
Walking down a open street with shops on both sides, he glanced around for any signs that he was here last night. A busted shop window, police tape being up, any signs that something unorthodox had happened around here last night. As he continued walking, he could hear someone strumming away at a guitar, looking ahead he saw a young woman on the steet, sitting on a stool with the case for her guitar open. Though no one paid her much mind as she played.
Peter reached for his wallet and opened it up to see he only had ten Lien on him. Walking over, he dropped the card into the open case, the girl stopping her stumming to smile at him. "Thanks man, got any requests" she asked, apricating the large tip.
Peter shrugged, "Not in particular, no. Slow day?" he asked, noticing the spare change that had been thrown in.
She nodded, "Yeah, got kicked out of my regular spot I moved over here. Thought I'd get some foot traffic." she explained. Peter frowned sadly as she mentioned being kicked away from where she was playing before.
"You didn't get hurt did you?" he asked.
She smiled, "Sweet of you to worry but nah, they flashed me their guns and tld me to scram." she explained, making his eye raise. Related to what happened to him or not, Peter wasn't going to let some punks intimidate people.
"Where were these guys at? So I know where to avoid?" he asked.
She pointed down the street, "Two blocks that way, and then right." she informed him, Peter thanked her as he heading down that way, making sure to turn down an alleyway out of sight before his clothes shifted into his black suit.
Well this thing certainly saves on changing time, that's for sure. Peter thought as he scaled up the wall of the building with a jump and made his way across the rooftops to where the guitar player had directed him. Landing on the building the one that he was directed to, he looked down from the ledge to see a pair of guys standing beside the back entrance of a jewlry store. Ok so they kicked her out because they were casing the place, ok then I'll wait for them to break in and then.' he began before he saw something slide out from underneath the door between the men.
At first he thought it was some sort of liquid, but as he watched necklaces and rings ebb out along with it he realized what it was. Sand.
Slowly the sand and the treasures trapped within it formed a humanoid shape, his clothing coming into color and form as Sandman reconstituted himself. The two men pulled some bags out of their pockets and opened them, "Alright Sandy you know the drill, rings in one, necklaces in the other." one of them said.
The former Huntsmen in training frowned as he raised his hands and shifted the various prizes from inside shift to each one before dropping them into the predetermined bags. As he emptied the last of his contents into the bags, he let himself settle, "Alright there, we done?" he asked impatiently to the two.
One of them raised their hands, "Hold it Sandman." one of them said, "Gotta make sure your not holding out on anything." he said as he lifted up a metal detector. The villain sighed tiredly, before he could lift up his hands for the search however, two webs connected to the backs of the men he was with and pulled them back across the alley and into the opposite wall.
"Oh man a Jewelry Store robbery! I haven't had one of these before, can you believe that?" Spider-man asked from the wall above the two men before dropping down and kicking them down into the ground before springing off and landing in front of Sandman as his fists formed into two large maces with spikes, "Mako! Good to see you, how's the cats? The litterbox still holding up after all the uses?" he joked.
"You are the last person I want to see right now Webhead!" Sandman roared as he sung his mace down, Spider-Man diving to the left and springing off his hand and kicking Sandman in the face as he shot into him, displacing his head briefly as Spdier-Man landed behind him. A fist sunndenly shooting out of Sandman's back and smashing Spider-Man through the door of the shop and straight out the other side out onto the street.
Spider-Man rolled across the ground to stop on his hand and feet, "Right, forgot about that trick of his." he said to himself as Sand poured out through the shop in the sape of a large block coming right at him. Leaping over the mass of small rocks, he watched as the fist crushed into a car and then wrapped around it, "Uh oh." Spidey said before the sand flung the car at him!
"Big Uh oh! Bug Uh OH!" he shouted as he raised his hands and shot a web at the car and yanked himself into it shoulder first, smashing himself against it in midair so that he stopped it's momentum and both of them fell down to the ground, Spider-Man holding his now sore shoulder, "Ugh, ok, not my brightest plan." he said as he rolled it.
Sandman reformed in place where he threw the car, "Why is it whenever I go, your always there?!" he roared.
Spider-Man's eyes shifted, "I'm sorry, whose the one who joined up with a bunch of villains and formed a team to fight me?" he asked.
"…ok fair." Sandman admitted, deflating a little bit as he looked at he ground, "Look just…..can you once, just once….forget you saw this I….I need this." he pleaded, making the vigilante tilt his head in curiosity.
This is….this is a first. Spider-Man thought, "Look, Marko…..what is this? I mean I saw how those guys were bossing you around." he asked, gesturing back to the store with his hand. Marko didn't look up to meet his eyes. Peter stood up and walked forward, listening for any hint of his Spider Sense to go off, "Marko….why are you doing this?" he finally asked.
Sandman's form shrank, the mass of sand at his waist forming into legs, his arms shrinking down into normal sized arms. "It…it's my daughter." he revealed. "She's…..she's not doing good Spider." he admitted in defeat. "I've been working with this guy, calls himself The Rose, he said that if I help him then he'll make sure she gets treatment…..but…if I get caught-"
"You don't get to see her." Peter realized, when Beacon Fell, so did the Raft, with a number of his villains escaping in the process save for Doc Ock. He had kept his ear to the ground for any word of them, but most of them seemed to have left Vale, he thought Sandman was one of them until he saw him today. I mean…..I feel bad for him but….I can't just look the other way on this. I can't let him steal for his daughter even if she's sick. Right? he thought conflictedly.
The sound of sirens alerted both of them, Spider-Man turned to Sandman, the thief's panicked expression on his face showing he needed to make a choice now. Oh….damn it! "Grab on." Spider-Man said, offering his hand, Marko looked at him sketpically, "Look just do it before I come to my senses alright?!" he said, Marko doing as he said, Spider-Man shooting a webline with his other hand and pulling him and Sandman up itnot eh air and swinging away as the police arrived on the scene.
Ok, so to recap my day. I woke up with a costume that I have no idea where it came from, got into a fight with police. Faught a S.W.A.T. team, and now I'm rounding out my day with heling a convicted felon escape from the scene of a crime! Spider-Man thought as he let go of a web and quickly shot another one out from atop his hand. Not to mention this suit of mine can do stuff even I can't explain. Well at least it's not dangerous, otherwise my Spider Sense would be going off. he reasoned as he and Sandman swung alongside a row of windows, out the corner of his eye for the briefest of seconds, Peter swore he looked different in the reflection.
Swinging past it, he shook his head.
This costume didn't have teeth.
AN: Alright! Now, just because Spider-Man is in a black suit, and Sandman is here, and he's mentioned his daughter, and Spidey….loses his temper a little here and there….oh god no this isn't turning into Spider-Man 3!
Ok but seriously, there's some…..comparisons you could make. But you know what….SM 3 is still better then AMSM2….right? I mean I think the action in 3 is actually better IMO. Anyway, yeah! Sandman! Been a while since we've seen him! And….weirdly enough he died in the comics….but then no he didn't…..see this is what happens when Chip Zdarsky writes Spider-Man, it gets kind of jumbled XD.
And Speaking of Spider-Man, the SINISTER WAR has begun in the comics, which…..is gonna wreck Spidey if what we know about Spider-Man Beyond is any indication.
And recently I've been….kind of struggling with my understanding of Spider-Man a little bit? I mean….you look at Superman, and you know he stands for truth, justice, and hope right? Now Spider-Man is obviously for responsibility but….it's kind of hard to find reasons to be irresponsible? I think this chapter I think I kind of nailed it with his moral Dilemma with Sandman, but what do you think?
Aside from that, we got our first look at RWBY volume 9 and….ok it's gonna be cool if they're not showing us ANYTHING for it. Like Endgame.
Also we're getting a new rwby game! That's a metroidvainia?! Oh hell to the yeah! That's such a cool idea, though I am biased because I love those types of games.
And….yeah things got a little real here with what happened with Miles. I actually took it from the Miles Morales Novel that was released alongside the PS4/5 video Game where something similar happens to him. It really shocked me that they did something like that so well and I wanted to try and do something with he same amount of respect, honestly I was nervous writing it but I hope that it turned out well.
Until Next time readers, thank you.
