Obi-wan Kenobi was one of the greatest Jedi Generals during the time of the Clone Wars. However those days have long since come to pass. Now he lived on Tatooine.
Its twin suns had taken a toll on his body like many others who lived on the planet. A shadow of what he once was. For the last sixteen years he had lived in seclusion on the planet taking the name Ben Kenobi. During his time in exile he watched over the blonde farm boy known as Luke Skywalker from a far.
The son of his former apprentice and jedi, Anakin Skywalker. Now known as Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith. He was to be the galaxy's chance at A New Hope. But like the grains of sand in the wind. That was all dashed away with a single visit.
At the Lars Homestead he couldn't help but look at its residence with horror.
"You let him join the Empire?" Obi-wan said silently. He was still trying to wrap his mind around this fact.
"For the last time Kenobi. Yes!" Owen said annoyed. "I don't see the problem. He's still safe. The chance that he runs into Vader or the Emperor is very low, almost zero. Once he graduates he'll probably be moving from system to system every few months. Hell even here on Tatooine the garrison rotates every two months with the Geonosis garrison-they say it keeps them on their toes."
"But the Sith are still out there. Luke is needed to bring balance to the force." Obi-was pressed trying to make them see it his way.
"Obi-wan." Beru said. The aged Jedi Master turned to her. "Times have changed. The Empire is not what it once was. The Sith are not in full control anymore. With the Imperial State of Terra the galaxy has been brought into a new era of peace. They have done something that not even the Republic could do. Stop all of this foolishness Obi-wan." The woman tried to make the Jedi see reason but he just shook his head in denial
"No. No I can't. My allegiance was to the Republic and Democracy. That had not changed since its fall." Obi-wan said.
"Then leave." Owen stated.
"Owen!" Beru admonished.
"I wasn't finished." Beru quieted down as Owen locked eyes with Kenobi. "As an Imperial citizen it is my duty to report those like you. Those consitered fugitives by both the Imperial State and Galactic Empire. However I still owe a great deal to you. As such I give you a change. Never. Never step foot near our home again and leave Luke out of your light-side, dark-side sorcery nonsense! I owe you that much." Owen finished. Obi-was closed his eyes for a moment.
"Alright then. Thank you for your hospitality. I will go now." Obi-wan Kenobi left the Lars Homestead. His only duty given to him by Grandmaster Yoda had left the planet. He had failed. Again. He had failed Luke the same way he did Anakin. They both got away.
That night as he sat outside of his hut that was located slightly north west of the Jundland Wastes. He was deep in thought. What was he to do now? It was then when he remembered the conversation that he, Master Yoda, and Bail Organa spoke the last time any of them spoke in person with each other.
"Stay safe. The children must be kept." Yoda said.
"We must take them somewhere the Sith will not sense their presence." Obi-wan suggested. It was obvious as if they were together then both the Emperor and Vader would be able to sense them easily.
"Hmm… Split up the children should be." Yoda finally decided.
"My wife and I will take the girl." Bail spoke up. He looked down at the table reminiscing something from the past, a small smile forming on his face. "We have always talked of adopting a baby girl." He looked up to the two Jedi with hopeful eyes. "She will be loved by us."
The Girl. Obi-wan scratched his thought. She will have to take Luke's place. The next day Obi-wan had left the planet on his old ETA-2 Actis class starfighter and left for Alderaan.
The capital city of Aldera was a beautiful and elegant place. A great contrast from Tatooine. When Obi-wan entered the planet's system he was directed straight to the Organa home.
"Master Kenobi." He heard a voice. Looking to where it came from a look of nostalgia formed on his aged face.
"Bail. It is good to see you again old friend." Obi-wan said.
"That it is. Come, we can talk in my office." Bail said. The two walked down several hallways and a flight of stairs until they entered a nice conference room. Entering it Bail sat on the closest chair. His pleasant smile was gone and replaced with a serious look.
"I know that you didn't come to say hello. What happened." Bail said getting straight to the point. Kenobi let out a sigh and sat on the chair adjacent to him.
"It's about Luke. I'm afraid that he can not help us restore the Republic anymore." Bail's eyes widened.
"Why? What happened." Bail asked. Had the boy been captured by the Empire? And if so, is his daughter still safe from its tyrannical clutches?
"It seems that a little more than a month and a half ago Luke enlisted as a soldier into the Imperial State of Terra Armed Forces." Obi-wan said gravely. "He is out of our reach and I fear that he has become dedicated to the Empire." Bail was silent for a moment.
"You wish to train Leia. Don't you?" Bail said with a blank expression. Leia had yet to join the Senate. There was still time to tell her. But if they waited too long then Obi-wan would not be able to train her as she would be under the watchful eyes of the ISB who have cracked down on several senators who have dealings in the underworld.
"Yes. She might be our only hope now to defeat the Sith and bring balance to the force. Once and for all." Obi-wan said.
"Im sorry but I can't make this decision. You will have to ask her yourself. But if she does say yes then I will give you my permission to train her." Bail said.
"Thank you my old friend. I will not fail you or Leia." Obi-wan promised. Not like I did Luke.
Light years away at the same time, on the world of once known as Coruscant now known as the Imperial Center, the man once known as Anakin Skywalker, now Darth Vader, entered the throne room of the Emperor in his palace.
"What is thy bidding my Master?" The mechanical being asked. His breathing echoing throughout the room.
Ever since the arrival of the Imperial State of Terra, Vader had not much to do when he wasn't chasing what little rebels existed, except for roaming the halls of the now empty Jedi Temple or sitting in solemn silence in his isolated castle on Mustafar. Doctors and engineers had also been able to fix his suit and make him look... normal.
The operation and surgery was long and painful but his body didn't need the suit anymore. His prosthetic were directly connected to his brain and felt so real that some times he forgot that they were prosthetic. Over the black artificial mechanical limbs was synthetic skin.
However they were unable to fully fix his respiratory problems. From where his jawline ended to his hair line-they were able to give him implants that grew his hair back, something that he appreciated greatly even if he didn't sat it-his face was covered by a black mask made of a light weight one sided transparent steel; Unlike the one that the Emperor made for him he hardly ever noticed it...
He was even able to take the top part off but he had to leave the part that covered his jaw and cheeks or the microscopic implants that allowed him to breath would not work. Despite this he still wore the suit that the Emperor made him. However it was a actually suit and not his body.
It allowed him more freedom that he wouldn't have had.
Something that he had always craved.
"Yes. There has been an uprising on Ryloth. After that traitor Orn Free Taa was found guilty of dealings with less than reputable beings." The Emperor drawled. "I wish you to go to the planet and destroy any rebellion that is trying to form on the planet." The dark lord stayed silent for a moment before asking a question.
"What of the Imperial State of Terra? They will have no doubt already sent forces to secure the planet." Vader asked. Make no mistake. Vader actually liked the Imperial State of Terra. They were fast and efficient. Not to mention actually competent. Unlike more than half the officers that the Dark Lord had to deal with on a day-to-day basis.
"Reinforce them however you see fit but follow their plans. I would hate to ruin the relationship of the loyal Twi'leks of the planet because someone decided to bombard the Biospheres that fed the planet and their surrounding cities.. Take your new flagship the Executor as well. We will show those who plot against the Empire what happened to traitorous scum."
"It will be done Master." With that Darth Vader fled the room. Those rebels think that they can take the planet without consequence do they?
He will show them the true might of Vader's Fist and the 501st.
(A.N. Obi-wan just had to jink it didn't he. I hope you all enjoyed this because I had fun writing his short chapter. I may make a similar chapter in the future its just really a matter of when. I also added the part about Vader's suit last minute. I was thinking that I wanted the chapter to be longer and realized that why not make reasons why the Sith don't hate or want to crush the Imperial State of Terra. You must understand. Running a galactic spanning Empire is hard work. So when someone comes in, pledges themselves to serve you, and then proceed to govern a large portion of the galaxy that is the farthest from the Capitol and hard to control in the first place? Yeah, I think you too would appreciate the smaller amount of Paper work. Not to mention with the Imperial State of Terra the Galactic Empire will no doubt last much longer. The Emperor has seen that the Imperial State of Terra is a good thing.
Also just for those who might think this: The Rebellion is not Gone.
You see the Imperial State of Terra only governs the Galactic South of the Outer-Rim. The Galactic Empire governs everything else. So places like Lothal, Mandalore, Dantooine and Serenno are controlled under the Empires iron fist that we see in the movies. So the Rebellion still exists its just much, much smaller than it was during the time of A New Hope.
"Ryloth, the home of the Twi'lek's has began to slip out of the Empires grasp after the arrest of the corrupt senator Orn Free Taa. Orn Free Taa loyalists have taken control of the planets Biospheres from the inside. These Biosphere are needed to feed the planet and other systems that are located in the deep Outer-Rim. Now it is up to the Imperial State to take these back and restore peace and order to the planet. Can they do so before starvation sets in? What will the Twin Star Platoon's role be in this operation? Will Vader and Luke meet? Find out next time on The Imperial State of Terra, Chapter 9: Platoon on the Move.)"
