Resting my cheek against the palm of my hand, my eyes flickered to each and every one of the stars twinkling outside the window.
"Sara, how was your first month back onto the Enterprise?"
A deep breath came through my nose before I answered the good doctor, "It's fine. I'd like to have the captain to not ask to have dinner, or breakfast, or lunch with me."
Creaking sound of a chair filled the air when Dr. McCoy sat up straight into his chair. I glanced at the reflection of the doctor against the window. I further explained, "He's not asking everyday but he's asking frequently. I'd rather not pursue anything when my mind isn't in the right state of mind."
I could see the doctor fold his hands in front of his lips in thought. After a few moments, he spoke, "Why would he be asking to have any meal with you? To me, it sounds like you caught his eye."
I looked back at the twinkling stars. Sulu has the Enterprise at a slow impulse so it was easier to identify the stars. I licked my lips. Finally, I answered, "He has it in his thoughts he is interested in me romantically."
I balanced the pro and con of telling him of what actually happened between the two of us. I pushed myself away from the sill turning to look at the doctor. Meeting his gaze, I asked, "How confidential these sessions you have me ordered to go to for my own health?"
McCoy knitted his brows together. He leaned forward in his seat and onto his desk. He laced his fingers together resting them ontop the desk, "Strictly confidential between you and I. No one, not even the captain and your brother, would know what we talk about. I only report my diagnoses."
I took in a deep breath then let it out slowly turning around back to the window to my previous position. I could feel my face get warm. I calmly spoke, "Him and I had a sexual intercourse. I was enduring my Pon Farr while we were grounded."
I am sure if the doctor was drinking something he would of spit it out. I briefly glanced at his reflection to him opening and closing his mouth unsure what to say. Knowing the doctor's credentials he would have to know of Vulcan anatomy as well our body changes. He has two living aboard the star ship he is assigned to. The good doctor cleared his throat and changed the way he was sitting to the other side of the chair.
"Well that, that was unsuspected. Well why do you think that he has it in his mind he is romantically interested in you?," The doctor asked.
I tapped my free hand's fingers against my thigh. I mentally gathered my thought process and assorted them. Once organized I responded, "I do not see the appeal of myself. However, I'm a female who was able to fulfill his pleasures. He's blinded by it and sees it not as lust but as a form of liking. I'm not self-conceited to say I am as one would say a good lay but Vulcans know how to love. It's a known fact."
Dr. McCoy grimaced. The sight in the reflection made myself snort despite the discussion. I apologized with an amused look, "I am sorry if you had a flash of my brother come into mind. I do apologize for that."
The doctor rubbed his face. A very quiet groan left his lips. I turned away from the window, "Can we be done today? My shift should be starting soon and I am sure you'd like to get some rest for coming off of your own shift."
The doctor waved his hand for me to go, "After what just happened, please."
His face held disgust. I pushed myself off the seating by the window and headed to the door. I stopped at the door, "Mind telling the captain to back off? I am sure he'd listen to you. You two are... You two are best friends, if I say so myself."
McCoy met my gaze before nodding, "Alright. I will. Now get to your shift."
I nodded leaving to head down to engineering.
"Jim, you and I need to talk."
Jim raised his eyes off his P.A.D.D. seeing Bones entering his quarters. Jim's brows raised in amusement, "You know I gave you my code to my door for medical emergencies not a social visit."
Bones rolled his eyes, "It's about Sara."
Jim knitted his brows together. He gestured to the seat across from him, "Sit. What about her?"
Bones sat down and went straight to the point, "Leave her alone, alright? She can't get back to normal if you keep pestering her. I get it. You like her. However, you coming onto her strong like that isn't helping her. She already spoke of shutting her damn emotions off like a pure Vulcan. Do you really want her to consider that?"
The captain frowned, "What has she told you?"
Bones shook his head crossing his arms across his chest, "You know I cannot tell you that. Doctor and patient confidentiality. As her doctor, I'm ordering you to leave her alone till she is ready to receive any suitors. You can still interact with her as it is hard not to as you are the captain but keep the non-professionalism to non-existent."
The captain felt his shoulders sag. His whole being felt sadden at that thought. He took in a deep breath, "Alright. Non-existent, I can do that."
Bones slowly uncrossed his arms. He shook his head at the sandy haired man. Bones felt bad for both people. The sandy haired man told the doctor that he may like the Vulcan female back when they were grounded. He didn't know how it suddenly brought it self to life. The doctor may of seen it before Sara told him about his best friend's sexual encounter with the woman. It was subtle at first till apparently now.
"Mind we have a drink? After today's session, I need one.," Bones heaved out a deep breath.
Jim's brows once again found themselves together, "Sara's fine though?"
Bones nodded waving a hand while Jim got up to get the whisky and two glasses. Bones verbally answered, "Oh she's fine. Just a thought I rather want to get rid of when she brought up an apparent fact."
Jim clinked the glasses onto the table. He popped open the whisky then poured. Bones immediately went for the whisky and took a large swig. The burning sensation felt great going down. It warmed his body and muscles. He smacked his lips, "That definitely hit the spot."
Jim didn't seem happy when his friend told him not to bother T'Saraphina. He knew now he came a little too strong. He just wanted to be near her and have a meal. Each time he asked, she refused. She came up with an excuse one way or another. Each time he was saddened but he thought the next time would be it. He didn't think that he was bothering her too much to the point she brought it up in one of her sessions. Jim took a sip of his own whisky. The warmth felt good and made his toes tingle. Jim promised to T'Saraphina that he would give her time. He thought he was by casually asking her to a meal and spaced them out enough. Apparently not.
The captain wants one of his top engineers to be in tip top shape. Technically he wants everyone aboard to be but he is interested in one person romantically and he wishes for her to be in excellent health and happy. Jim thought to himself, 'I just have to keep my distance. For her sake.'
