Chapter 16
It was Tuesday morning and the boys were eating breakfast. Theodore was having a hard time keeping his eyes open after Freddy Krueger came after him again.
"Theodore, are you going to be okay?", Dave asks.
"I'm just really tired. I couldn't go back to sleep last night because of Freddy," Theodore responds.
Meanwhile, on the TV, the news is on and the anchor says, "In other local news, there was a fire that was put out early this morning at the home of the Green family. Mark Green was found slashed and burned by the firefighters."
Alvin, hearing this, exclaims, "It was Freddy! He killed Mark! He has struck again!"
Dave then asks, "Mark? Is he someone else you knew?"
Simon responds, "He was in Brittany's drama class and we talked to him yesterday at lunch. He didn't believe that Freddy Krueger was real."
On the TV, the news anchor says, "The cause of the fire hasn't been determined but investigators are still looking for a potential cause for the fire."
Alvin then says, "I know Freddy caused that fire. What he did to Mark in his dream caused the fire!"
"I wonder what Brittany is going to think knowing that Krueger has killed again; especially knowing he was another student in her drama class," Theodore says.
Dave says, "You'll have to ask her at school because if you don't get going, you're going to be late."
Alvin asks, "How can you still think about us in school when there is a maniac going around in people's dreams and killing them?"
Dave answers, "Even with Freddy Krueger going around killing people, you boys still need your education."
"That's true, we need the education," Simon adds.
"I know, but Freddy going around killing people has me worried really badly," Alvin says.
"That is something to worry about, but you should also think about your education," Dave says.
"Oh alright," Alvin says.
Later at the school, the Chipmunks meet up with the Chipettes.
"Krueger struck again!", Alvin exclaims to the girls.
"We heard on the TV. This time he got Mark," Brittany says.
Nathan comes up and says, "You obviously know that Freddy Krueger killed again last night."
"Yes, it's obvious it was him. From what we heard, Mark's body was slashed and then burned," Alvin responds.
"To think, we just talked to Mark yesterday and now he's dead," Jeanette says.
"Anyone at this point could be next. Possibly one of us!", Alvin says.
Theodore cowers and says, "I don't want any of us to die because of that monster!"
"Neither do I Theodore, which is why he has to be stopped," Alvin says.
Simon says, "I wish I could figure out a way to stop him so that he won't kill anyone else." He then says, "Alvin's idea of pulling him out into the real world was probably the best idea, but Freddy most likely would know what we were trying to do since he has years of experience killing in dreams."
"We still have to think of something or else more people are going to die," Nathan says.
"That's true," Simon replies.
Simon then looks at the clock and says, "We better get going or we'll be late for class, we'll talk more at lunch."
"Alright, see you then," Nathan responds.
In math class, Mrs. Shepherd says to the students, "It is something considering 3 students at this school have been murdered and the killer hasn't been caught. Not only that but terrible."
"The killer is Freddy Krueger!", Alvin suddenly exclaims. "Freddy Krueger is the one who is killing the students here!"
"I think I've heard that name before. Freddy Krueger was the Springwood Slasher, but he's dead," Mrs. Shepherd says. She then asks, "Where did you learn about him?"
Alvin responds, "I had his hat from a dream and it had his name on it. Me, my brothers, and Dave went online to find out about him."
"How could he be responsible for these deaths if he is dead?", Mrs. Shepherd asks.
"He found a way to invade our dreams and he has these powers where what he does to you in the dream, happens to you for real," Alvin says.
Mrs. Shepherd then says, "That's extremely unlikely. He's dead. Dead people normally can't hurt you."
Alvin responds, "He's far from normal, he is a dream demon now!"
"Okay Alvin, that's enough. You're sounding crazy. Nonetheless, we will have a remembrance ceremony at lunch for Mark," Mrs. Shepherd then says.
The class went over dividing fractions and material that would be on the final exam.
Later on, in Brittany's drama class, Ms. Baker says, "It's horrible what happened to Mark. He was a good student and I hope that whoever killed him gets brought to justice."
Brittany then said, "It was Freddy Krueger. He killed Mark! He also killed Ruth and Caroline!"
Ms. Baker then says, "I think I've heard that name before. Who was he?"
Brittany responds, "He was the Springwood Slasher, a serial killer that murdered 20 children in Springwood, Ohio. Me, my sisters, and the Chipmunks found out about him online."
"Oh, now I remember. He's dead though so he can't be doing this," Ms. Baker says.
Brittany says, "He can now invade our dreams and can kill us."
"Brittany, you sound nutty with what you just said," a classmate said.
"It's the truth! He has become some dream stalker that has these powers that allows him to inflict injuries on us from our dreams!", Brittany exclaims.
"That's very unlikely Brittany. I just can't see that happening," Ms. Baker says. She then says, "Either way, we'll be having a remembrance ceremony at lunch for Mark. Now let's discuss more material that will be on the final test."
Brittany thinks, "Obviously no one here is going to believe me."
At lunch, the remembrance ceremony for Mark is held before the students can fully engage in their lunches.
After the ceremony, Alvin talks with Nathan.
"Last night, Krueger attacked Theodore and obviously killed Mark," Alvin says.
Nathan responds, "It's unbelievable that yesterday, we were talking to him, then that night, that Krueger creep cuts him up and burns him."
Simon speaks up, "I don't know how we're going to balance thinking about the final exams and dealing with Freddy Krueger. Obviously, dealing with Freddy is a matter of life and death."
Nathan says, "No arguing that point. Especially since it's unlikely that Principal Smith, any of the teachers, or the rest of the students will believe us. They would just say and think that we're crazy."
"Unfortunately, it seems the only way anyone else will believe us is if they encounter Freddy and that would be awful," Theodore says.
"Which is why he needs to be stopped," Alvin says.
"Someone in my drama class thought I sounded crazy," Brittany says.
"Whether anyone believes us or not, Krueger has to be stopped," Eleanor says.
"Especially before someone else dies," Jeanette adds.
"Hopefully we can stop him before he kills again," Simon says.
The rest of the school day goes by smoothly. The Chipmunks and Chipettes are able to get some studying and homework done in study hall.
Later at the Seville house, the boys try to take their minds off of Freddy by watching TV. The boys and Dave watch a show about pranks.
Alvin later says, "I think I ought to try that hair dye prank on Brittany or even you Simon."
Simon, with a glare says, "Don't you dare."
Dave then says, "I know Brittany really wouldn't like it and Simon clearly shows he would be pretty mad if you did it to him."
Alvin then says, "I know. I was just kidding, I wouldn't do that."
Simon looks behind Alvin's back to see if Alvin had his fingers crossed, which he didn't.
At the Miller house, Ms. Miller and the girls are talking about the school day.
"We did get some studying done in study hall and we also got a good amount of our homework done," Jeanette says.
"That's good. You girls as a result won't have as much homework," Ms. Miller said.
She then says, "You need to go finish your homework while I start dinner. That way you'll get it over with."
"Good idea Ms. Miller," Eleanor says. "Tell us when dinner is ready."
"I will," Ms. Miller says.
The girls then go upstairs and do what homework they have left and get more studying for the exams done.
The boys at the Seville house do the same.
Later on at the Seville house, Dave and the boys are having spaghetti for dinner. Alvin then says, "This is out of control. 3 people are dead in less than 2 weeks because of Freddy."
"I know and that's why he has to be stopped," Dave responds.
"I hope we find a way to fight him and stop him soon," Theodore says.
"We have to," Alvin says to his youngest brother.
"Who knows how many more times we'll be able to get away from him," Simon spoke up.
"If we stay awake, Freddy won't be able to come after us," Theodore says.
"That sounds logical Theodore, but unfortunately if you stay awake too long, you'll have what's known as micro naps," Simon says.
"What are those?", Alvin asks.
"Micro naps are where if you're deprived of sleep for too long, your brain will go into periods of sleep. Basically you can dream while you're awake," Simon answers.
Theodore gasps. Alvin then says, "That's insane! How do you know that?"
Simon replies, "It's from reading. In some of my free time, I tried to read about possible ways we could not dream so Freddy couldn't get to us. Of course the only common way is to stay awake, but that information also included the stuff about micro naps. Plus it's possible that Freddy may expect us to try something like that so when we do fall asleep, it'll be a really deep sleep and he'll easily be able to get to us."
"Either way we need to sleep some," Dave says.
"I know. I just hope we can survive and stop Freddy from claiming another victim," Alvin says.
The boys finish dinner and spend some time watching TV before bedtime.
At bedtime, Dave is tucking the boys in for the night.
"At least try to sleep. I know you're scared of Freddy Krueger, but you've got school tomorrow," Dave says.
"We know, but it's difficult because of the chance Freddy could come after us again," Alvin replies.
"Trust me, I have that feeling too. Freddy attacked me also," Dave says.
Dave then says, "Goodnight boys."
"Goodnight Dave," the boys respond.
Later on, Alvin feels cold metal underneath him and opens his eyes only to realize that he's being held on a table by metal restraints.
"Hey, what's going on?! Where am I?!", Alvin yells out.
"Oh good, you're awake. It's time to begin the fun," came a sinister voice.
Alvin instantly recognized the voice and his suspicion was confirmed when he saw the figure coming to the table. It was an old enemy: Dr. Frankenstein.
"Are you going to try one of your dumb experiments on me again?", Alvin asked in annoyance.
Dr. Frankenstein replies, "I actually have something different in mind for you, you miserable chipmunk." The doctor then got a sinister smile on his face.
"What would that be, actually getting a girlfriend?", Alvin asked sarcastically with a smirk.
"No! It's much better than that," Dr. Frankenstein says. He then raises his right hand and reveals that he is wearing a knife glove.
Alvin gasps and the doctor says in a raspy voice, "I call it: execution!"
Dr. Frankenstein then changes into Freddy Krueger and laughs evilly. Alvin screams as Freddy's knives come in to end him.
Alvin wakes up screaming in his bed, looks around, and quickly realizes that it was a nightmare.
Dave runs in and asks, " What happened?"
Alvin says, "It was Krueger again." He continues, "This time he disguised himself as that nutcase Dr. Frankenstein!"
"The same Dr. Frankenstein that kidnapped you and experimented on you several years ago?", Simon asks.
"Yes, that same one," Alvin answers.
"Oh great! Now Freddy is using old enemies to terrorize us?", Alvin says.
"Apparently yes," Simon responds.
"You don't have to worry about that crazy doctor, it's been years since we've seen him," Dave says in a comforting manner.
"Yes, it's been a long time," Theodore adds.
"I know, but what does it mean since Freddy came after me that way?", Alvin asks.
"Probably another way that monster, Krueger could scare you," Dave answers. Dave then says, "I know you're scared, but you have school tomorrow and you need your sleep."
Dave then goes to the door and says, "Goodnight again boys."
"Goodnight Dave," the Chipmunks respond. Simon and Theodore are able to get back to sleep fairly quickly while Alvin can't sleep for the rest of the night.
At Movie Studios Park, Dr. Frankenstein, still using the lair he got years ago, is working on a formula. He is having trouble keeping his eyes open and eventually falls asleep at his work table.
"Hey you creep! Let me go!", the doctor hears a squeaky voice yell. Dr. Frankenstein turns and sees Alvin strapped to his metal table that he used to bring his monster to life. He turns back to the table and sees a beaker filled with a purple concoction and realizes that it's his cartoon monster maker frappe.
"When did I do this?", Dr. Frankenstein says to himself. He then says, "Oh well, it still benefits me."
He then picks up the beaker, goes over to Alvin, and says, "Drink this now, before it eats through the beaker."
"Yuck! No way!", Alvin exclaims.
"You will drink it, you pest!", Dr. Frankenstein says angrily. He then tries to force the formula down Alvin's throat.
"Wait!", Alvin says.
"What now?", the doctor asks in annoyance.
"Since you're insistent on me drinking this, can I at least taste it first?", Alvin asks.
Dr. Frankenstein, surprised, says, "Okay fine, but no funny business!"
Alvin takes the beaker and takes a sip from it. He then says, "This is actually not bad," and drinks the rest of it in one gulp.
Dr. Frankenstein laughs evilly and says, "Excellent! Now to complete the process." He then goes for the electrocution helmet.
Alvin casually stops the helmet from being put on his head and asks, "What process?"
"The process of turning you into a monster," the doctor says with an eerie smile.
Alvin says, "I'm afraid it won't work."
"What?! Why do you say that?", the doctor asks.
Alvin then smiles evilly and says, "Becauseā¦" before his voice changes into a growling rasp as he says, "I'm already a monster!"
Dr. Frankenstein yelps in shock and watches in horror as knives come out of Alvin's fingers. Alvin easily cuts through the thick restraints and jumps to the floor and cuts open his chest. Out stepped Freddy Krueger from the disguise.
Freddy then puts on his hat and smiles evilly at the doctor.
"Who are you?", Dr. Frankenstein asks in fear.
"Your worst nightmare," Freddy answers. He then says, "So much knowledge, yet so little at the same time. Lacking in the knowledge of true fear, but I'll easily show you."
Freddy looks around and says, "Not a bad place, but it could use some redecorating!"
Freddy then lights his knives on fire and slashes one of the machines, causing it to catch on fire.
One by one, Freddy slashes the machines with the burning knives.
"What are you doing?!", Dr. Frankenstein shouts as he runs over to Freddy to try to stop him. Freddy slashes the doctor on his shoulder onto the upper part of his chest. Freddy then sets the last machine on fire.
"That's better. Now to deal with you," Freddy growls sinisterly.
"No! Stay back!", Dr. Frankenstein yells.
"Here's your lesson!", Freddy says before laughing evilly. He then goes to slash Dr. Frankenstein.
The doctor wakes up screaming and realizes it was a nightmare. However, he sees that a part of his dream came true as his machines are on fire.
"Oh no! I have to get out of here!", Dr. Frankenstein says and he frantically runs out the door and down the stairs. He is just able to get away before the lab explodes.
He looks up and says, "My lab!"
Dr. Frankenstein then says, "That lousy chipmunk Alvin has to have something to do with this! I saw him first in my dream! He will pay for this!"
Dr. Frankenstein then starts heading to the Seville house as he still remembers the route he took when he followed his monster and the Chipmunks years earlier.
Some ideas from Alvin and the Chipmunks meet Frankenstein. Something new. Please review!
