Chapter 19

It's Friday morning and the boys have gotten up for breakfast. Simon however, is having difficulty keeping his eyes open.

"Couldn't go back to sleep last night?", Dave asks Simon.

"No, I couldn't. I couldn't sleep comfortably after Freddy came after me," Simon responds.

"That's understandable. I couldn't sleep very well when Freddy came after me," Dave says.

"Did the storm do any major damage last night?", Theodore asks Dave.

"Fortunately there were only a few shingles torn off the roof and there were also a lot of leaves and branches down, but no major damage," Dave answers.

"Thank goodness," Theodore says with a sigh.

"I wonder if the Chipettes are okay. Freddy might have gone after one of them last night as well," Theodore then adds.

"You're right Theodore. Freddy might have gone after one of them last night," Alvin says.

"I'm sure they're okay, Ms. Miller would have said something on the phone if something serious happened to one of them," Dave replies.

"We can ask them at school if Freddy came after one of them," Simon says with a yawn.

"We can also ask them if the storm did any major damage to their house," Theodore says.

"True, you can ask them, but right now you boys need to think about finishing breakfast so you won't be late for school," Dave says.

"Okay Dave," Simon responds.

At school, the boys meet up with the Chipettes.

"Did Krueger come after any of you last night?", Alvin asked the girls.

"He came after me," Jeanette says with a yawn.

"What about you?", Brittany asks the boys.

"I unfortunately had to deal with Freddy last night as well," Simon answers.

"Oh boy, this might never stop!", Eleanor exclaims.

"I know. We still need to look for a way to beat him though," Alvin says.

"Was there any bad damage to your house from the storm last night?", Theodore asks the Chipettes.

"Nothing major to the house, just a couple of lost shingles. There were a lot of leaves and tree branches down though," Eleanor says.

"Same at our house," Theodore comments.

Nathan spots the group, walks up and says, "That was a pretty bad storm last night."

"For sure, but at least no major damage to our house or the girls' house," Alvin responds.

Nathan then says, "Fortunately I can say the same thing. Mostly tree damage but no damage to the house other than a couple of lost shingles."

He then noticed the tired looks on the faces of Jeanette and Simon and asked, "Freddy Krueger come after you again?"

"Yes. I couldn't go back to sleep last night after he came after me," Simon says tiredly.

Jeanette yawns and says, "Same here."

"Good thing you two are okay. We better get to class before the bell rings. See you at lunch," Nathan says.

"See you at lunch too," Alvin replies.

Later on in science class, Mr. Anderson is talking to the class as the boys listen.

"Everything that we have gone over this year, you will need to study it. The final exam is next week, so be prepared."

He then noticed Simon falling asleep at his desk.

"Simon. You're falling asleep, you need to pay attention to what I'm saying," Mr. Anderson said.

Simon replies, "Sorry, I couldn't sleep very well last night. I've been fighting this all day."

Mr. Anderson asks, "Why couldn't you sleep?"

"I had a really bad nightmare. It scared me so bad, I couldn't sleep comfortably," Simon answers.

Alvin then pipes up, "It was Freddy Krueger. Freddy Krueger attacked Simon last night!"

"Freddy Krueger? He was the serial killer known as the Springwood Slasher, but he's dead. Dead people don't come after you," Mr. Anderson states.

Alvin responds, "Well he's back from the dead and has been coming for us in our dreams."

"That's crazy Alvin, dead people don't attack you in your dreams," Mr. Anderson says.

"He's no ordinary dead person. He has killed 3 students here in the past two weeks!", Alvin replies.

"That's enough Alvin, you're starting to sound crazy. Please listen to what is being said about the material that will be on the final exam because you'll need to know and study it," Mr. Anderson states.

Alvin thinks, "That pretty much confirms that no teacher will believe that this Krueger monster is real.

Later on at lunch, the Chipmunks and Chipettes are talking to Nathan.

"Who knows who will be next to die by Freddy's hand. I hope it's not one of us," Simon says.

"Since Freddy has killed 3 people so far, I definitely see that worry," Nathan replies.

"Not only that, but we and the girls have a recording session tomorrow. I definitely hope Freddy doesn't impact how we'll sound since we usually can't sleep comfortably after he comes after us," Alvin speaks up.

"After what we went through with Dr. Frankenstein and Theodore being turned into a werewolf, I thought nothing could beat those times. Turns out I was wrong; very wrong," Simon says.

"I happened to mention Freddy Krueger in science class earlier today. Just as I thought, the teacher didn't believe me, but I thought it was still worth a shot," Alvin stated.

"Why would you mention Freddy in your science class?", Brittany asks Alvin.

Alvin replies, "Our teacher saw Simon having trouble staying awake during class and I had to say something."

"It's hard for anyone to believe we've seen the things we've seen until they experience those things themselves," Nathan says.

"Except Bobby and Derek keep accusing Simon of having something to do with Freddy's attacks and murders and accusing us of covering for him," Eleanor states.

"They're obviously idiots. If you really did have anything to do with Freddy, why would he come after you as well?", Nathan says.

"Like you said Nathan, they're idiots. No wonder both of them are also bullies," Brittany replies.

"I've seen Simon get pretty mad at Alvin for certain things, but he certainly wouldn't do anything like this," Theodore says.

"We all know that for sure," Jeanette replies.

"That's definitely true. I could never do anything like that to anyone, let alone Alvin. Even when he really gets on my nerves, I couldn't make some machine that would do anything like this to Alvin," Simon responds.

"Although you seemed like you wanted to punch my lights out a few times," Alvin adds.

"Siblings fighting is nothing unusual. But one thing we all agree on is Freddy Krueger has to be stopped once and for all. I've learned to deal with the things involving you that are troublesome, but before now, I have never dealt with something like Freddy Krueger," Simon says.

"I doubt anyone would want to deal with something like Freddy Krueger," Jeanette adds.

The next couple of classes go smoothly for the boys. They and the girls later are in their study hall period.

The boys and the Chipettes are doing homework they have as well as studying for the upcoming final exams.

Simon, still fatigued from the restless night, begins to fall asleep.

"Simon. Simon, wake up," Simon hears Alvin say.

"What is it? What do you need?", Simon asks his older brother.

Alvin answers, "I need some help with my homework."

"Which homework?", Simon asks.

Alvin's voice becomes deep and raspy when he says, "The homework on how you can give me your life." He then raises his right hand and reveals he is wearing a knife glove.

Simon gasps and immediately runs to the door to the library, but a bookcase moves in front of the door. Simon is unable to move the large bookcase.

Simon turns around and sees Freddy walking toward him clicking his knives.

"Come to Freddy and help out," Freddy rasps with a wicked smile on his burned face. He then runs at Simon and tries to slash him with his blades.

Simon is able to avoid the knives and tries to run, but Freddy trips him. Freddy then goes to stab Simon, but Simon scrambles out of the way and runs again.

Another bookcase moves in front of him. He then goes to run around the bookcase, but another bookcase cuts him off. Before he knows it, he is boxed in by 4 large and heavy bookcases.

Freddy then appears beside him and says, "Sometimes you have to think outside the box!", before laughing evilly. Freddy then adds, "Too bad you're stuck in it and it'll cost you...your life!", before raising his right hand to end Simon and laughing another terrifying evil laugh. Simon screams as the knives come to end him.

Simon wakes up with a scream and quickly looks around and realizes it was a dream.

Alvin and Theodore both run over to Simon after hearing his scream. The librarian is soon with them.

"Was it Krueger again?", Theodore asks his nerdy brother.

"Unfortunately yes, it was him," Simon replies.

"Who is this Krueger you're talking about?", the librarian asks the boys.

"Freddy Krueger. He came after Simon in his dream. He's been coming after a bunch of us in our dreams," Alvin answers.

"I've heard that name before. Wasn't Freddy Krueger a serial killer who murdered kids many years ago?", the librarian says.

"Yes, he was called the Springwood Slasher," Alvin said.

"That's strange that you would dream about him," the librarian said softly.

"He's real. He's coming after us," Alvin says fearfully.

"Freddy Krueger is dead. He can't come after you. He definitely can't come after you in your dreams, I've never heard of something like that," the librarian replies. She then says, "Don't worry about it, it was just a bad dream."

Alvin thinks, "Easy for you to say."

The rest of the day goes by smoothly and the boys are at home. Simon is able to take a nap for a while and fortunately wasn't attacked again by Freddy.

At the Miller house, the girls tell Ms. Miller what happened during their study hall period.

"Simon was so tired that he fell asleep during study hall and we knew Freddy came after him again," Jeanette says.

"At least he's okay. He didn't get hurt by that monster, did he?", Ms. Miller says.

"No he didn't, thank goodness," Brittany replies.

"That's good. A little later, you need to study for your exams and finish what homework you have so you won't have to worry about it this weekend; especially since tomorrow you and the Chipmunks will have another recording session. I'll also start dinner later," Ms. Miller says.

"Okay Ms. Miller, we'll do it in a little bit," Eleanor says.

A little later at the Seville house, the boys have finished what homework they had and also got some studying in and are at the dinner table with Dave.

"At least I was able to take a nap without Freddy coming after me like he did in study hall," Simon tells Dave.

"Yeah, you told me earlier that Freddy came close to getting you as well," Dave says back.

"We saw Dr. Frankenstein in his yard building something, I wonder what it is," Theodore says.

"Probably a machine similar to one he had back at his lab before it got destroyed. I don't think you should bother him very much," Dave says.

"Like I'd want to talk to him after what he did to me years ago," Alvin says sarcastically. He then continues, "But I would rather deal with him than deal with Freddy Krueger."

"I'm sure everyone would Alvin," Simon replies.

"Oh yes, because Freddy actually wants to kill us," Theodore puts in.

"I don't know how we're going to stop Krueger, but it has to be done. We and the Millers along with other people can't live like this," Alvin says.

"Hard to disagree with you there," Dave responds.

The boys and Dave finish dinner and watch some TV before bed.

A little later, the boys are put to bed.

"Get some sleep fellas, because you have a recording session tomorrow," Dave says.

"We'll try," Theodore responds.

"Goodnight boys," Dave says as he turns off the light.

"Goodnight Dave," the Chipmunks respond. Dave then goes to bed himself.

At the Miller house, the Chipettes are being put to bed.

"You girls need to be at your best tomorrow, so get some sleep, okay," Ms. Miller says to the girls.

"We will," Jeanette replies.

"Goodnight," Ms. Miller says.

"Goodnight Ms. Miller," the girls say back as she turns out the light.

Sometime later, Eleanor hears the bathroom sink running and goes to investigate. She enters the bathroom and sees that no one is there, so she turns off the sink.

She goes to leave when the sink turns back on.

"What in the world?", she says to herself and turns the sink back off. The sink again turns itself back on and Eleanor lets out a frustrated growl.

"What is up with this sink?!", she asks herself before turning it back off.

The sink again turns on, but instead of water, blood pours from the faucet and Eleanor gasps. She then hears a bubbling noise from the bathtub and sees the tub filling with blood.

A figure then starts to rise from the blood in the tub and Eleanor screams in horror at the sight. It is Ruth, one of Freddy Krueger's victims, with her throat cut, her torso slashed and her eyes missing. Ruth gets out of the tub and staggers toward Eleanor. Eleanor screams and runs downstairs and tries to open the door. The doorknob is hot and burns her hand.

She then runs into the kitchen to try to find another way out when the kitchen sink turns on and is spraying blood. Eleanor is frozen in fear as she watches the sink fill with blood. She then gasps and screams when she sees Freddy Krueger start coming out of the blood.

Freddy climbs out and onto the floor, puts his hat on, and says, "What a party this will be. It's going to be a party to die for!", before laughing a raspy evil laugh.

Eleanor runs to the back door and tries to open it, but it's jammed. She then rams her shoulder into the door as Freddy walks toward her waggling his tongue and moving his knives.

She is able to get the door open and runs. She stops at a house to catch her breath when she hears footsteps and sees Ruth staggering towards her singing:

One, two Freddy's coming for you

Three, four better lock your door

Five, six grab your crucifix

Seven, eight gonna stay up late

Nine, ten never sleep again

She goes to run again, but runs right into Freddy. Freddy chuckles evilly at Eleanor. Eleanor then makes a bold decision and grabs onto Freddy's leg and starts yelling, "Wake me up! Somebody wake me up!" Her plan was what she heard Alvin say: to grab onto Freddy and wake up to pull him out of the dream.

Eleanor looks to see if she is still holding Freddy's leg, but instead she is holding a large snake which hisses and wraps itself around her.

"Nice try, but I can be quite the evil snake!", Freddy says before laughing evilly.

Eleanor struggles to get free, but the snake tightens its grip around her. Freddy raises his knives and says, "This is my way of showing I can love, and I love you...to death!" He goes to slash Eleanor as she screams.

Eleanor then wakes up in her bed screaming in complete fear.

"Ellie, what happened?", Brittany asks with worry.

"Freddy Krueger. It was him," Eleanor chokes out before breaking down into tears.

Ms. Miller runs into the bedroom and quickly asks, "Eleanor are you okay?"

"Freddy came after me again, it's the worst one yet!", Eleanor says as tears streamed down her face. She continued, "Not only did he come after me, he brought Ruth with him and she came after me too!"

"I'm so sorry this happened to you! It's okay now," Ms. Miller says as she hugs Eleanor comfortingly. Eleanor hugs back tightly.

"Oh goodness, that's similar to the last time Freddy came after me!", Brittany exclaims. Both she and Jeanette join Ms. Miller in hugging and comforting Eleanor.

"Are you okay now?", Ms. Miller asks Eleanor.

Eleanor, who is wiping the tears from her face says, "Yes, I'm okay now. Thank you."

"Will you be okay here? If not you can sleep with me," Ms. Miller says assuringly.

"I'll try to sleep here," Eleanor answers.

"Are you sure you'll be okay?", Jeanette asks her younger sister.

"Yes I'll be okay," Eleanor answers.

"If you get scared again, my bed is open for you," Ms. Miller says.

"Goodnight again girls," Ms. Miller says.

"Goodnight Ms. Miller," the girls say back.

While Brittany and Jeanette are able to go back to sleep, Eleanor is unable to sleep comfortably for the rest of the night.
