Chapter 21
It's Sunday morning. Alvin and Theodore are getting out of bed when they notice that Simon isn't getting up with them.
"Simon come on, come get breakfast," Theodore says to his nerdy brother.
"Okay just a minute," Simon says weakly as he sits up.
"Simon you don't look so good," Theodore says with concern.
"I don't feel so good either," Simon replies as he puts his glasses on.
After the boys get downstairs for breakfast, Dave notices that Simon isn't his usual self.
"Something wrong Simon?", Dave asks.
"Yes, my head hurts, my body hurts, and I generally feel awful and tired," Simon answers.
"I hope he doesn't have the flu," Alvin says.
"If I got the flu, then shouldn't you and Theodore be sick too?", Simon asks.
"Probably so, but we're not sick," Alvin says.
"Oh I feel hot," Simon complains as he pulls up the sleeves of his shirt.
"Oh my!", Theodore exclaims.
"What's wrong?", Dave asks.
"That strange cut Simon got last night is gone," Theodore says.
Simon looks at his arm and says, "You're right, it's completely gone."
"I'm wondering if this illness you have might have something to do with that dream you had last night about Freddy Krueger going into your arm," Alvin says.
"What makes you think that?", Theodore asks.
"Simon was fine last night, and after he had that dream, he's sick," Alvin responds.
Simon groans and lays his head on the table as Dave goes to get a thermometer.
"I'm not sure if I can eat breakfast. I feel kind of nauseous," Simon says.
As Dave returns with the thermometer, he says, "At least eat a little bit, you need to have something in your stomach."
"Okay, but I hope I don't get sick to my stomach," Simon says.
Dave sticks the thermometer in Simon's mouth to take his temperature.
"Wow! That's not good. 103 degrees," Dave says with concern.
"Simon's really sick," Theodore says.
"For sure," Dave says in agreement.
Simon looks at Alvin and says, "You might be right about Freddy having something to do with this sickness since I didn't feel like this until after that dream."
"I'm afraid Alvin might be right too," Theodore puts in.
"If that's the case, why would Freddy do this to you?", Alvin wonders.
"Who knows? Either way, if Freddy is causing me to be sick, he's still doing what he wants; which is tormenting me," Simon says weakly in frustration.
Simon is able to eat a little bit of breakfast before he goes and lays down on the couch.
"May I have the rest of Simon's breakfast?", Theodore asks.
"Sure, it would save it from going to waste," Dave answers as he gets some medicine for Simon.
Theodore then proceeds to eat the rest of Simon's breakfast as Dave goes to the couch to give Simon medicine.
"Hopefully this will make you feel better," Dave says as he gives Simon some flu medicine and a painkiller.
"I hope it does too because right now I feel terrible," Simon says.
The phone rings and Dave goes to answer it.
"Hello? Oh, hi Ms. Miller. A movie you say? I'll ask them," Dave says on the phone.
"Boys, do you want to join the Chipettes and Ms. Miller at the movie theater later?", Dave asks.
"That sounds nice. Sure," Theodore answers.
"Sure thing," Alvin responds.
Dave goes back on the phone and says, "Alvin and Theodore said yes, but Simon won't be able to go because he's really sick. Okay, we'll see you later. Bye."
Dave then turns to Alvin and Theodore and says, "I hope you enjoy yourselves later."
"We will," Alvin says. Theodore then asks, "What about you Dave?"
"I'll stay with Simon while you're gone because he needs someone around," Dave answers.
"Ugh, of all the days to be sick, it has to be this one," Simon mutters in frustration.
Later on after Alvin and Theodore leave for the theater, Simon is watching TV and drinking some water when suddenly he puts his hands over his mouth and runs upstairs to the bathroom.
Dave sees this and follows Simon to the bathroom and hears the door slam. He then hears Simon start vomiting and is concerned.
He knocks on the door and asks, "Simon, are you okay?" After Simon finishes throwing up, he says, "Better now, but overall still bad."
"Okay, well when you come back downstairs, I'll give you some more medicine," Dave says.
Simon flushes the toilet and goes to splash water on his face to try to cool down because of his fever and sweating. After Simon wets his face, he goes to look in the mirror but he doesn't see his reflection looking back at him. Instead he sees Freddy Krueger's ugly burned face looking back at him with an evil smile.
Freddy then says, "You're mine now," before laughing an evil laugh.
Simon then screams in fright and Dave immediately opens the bathroom door.
"What happened?", Dave asked with concern.
Simon points at the mirror and says, "Freddy. He was in the mirror."
"Freddy? But you're awake. That's strange that you saw Freddy," Dave says.
"He told me that I'm his. What does that mean?", Simon says.
"I'm not sure. Come back downstairs and I'll get you some more medicine and take your temperature," Dave replies to his second oldest.
Later on, Ms. Miller, the Chipettes, and Alvin and Theodore are returning from the movie theater.
"I wonder how Simon got so sick," Jeanette says.
"Well he did have a nightmare last night where Freddy liquified himself into his arm and when morning came, he was sick. I wonder if Freddy has something to do with it," Alvin says.
"Why would Freddy do something like that to Simon?", Brittany asks.
"According to what Simon said, Freddy got the idea to make Simon help him get victims," Alvin responds.
"Ugh, what a creep!", Eleanor exclaims.
"I know. Hopefully things will end up okay and Freddy just goes away," Ms. Miller adds.
"I hope so too, but I'm not too sure of that since the cut Freddy made on Simon's arm was glowing last night and was completely gone today," Theodore says.
"That definitely doesn't sound good at all," Jeanette states.
"Freddy has been tormenting us and other people around here for long enough, he just needs to beat it!", Ms. Miller says passionately.
"We all agree with you there, but he probably is far from done with us," Alvin replies.
The boys later get dropped off at their house.
"Thanks for coming with us," Ms. Miller says.
"No problem," Theodore replies.
"Bye, see you tomorrow," Eleanor says.
"See you tomorrow too," Theodore says back. The Millers then drive over to their house.
Alvin and Theodore come into the house and Dave asks, "How was the movie?"
Alvin answers, "The movie was actually good. Theodore definitely enjoyed it."
"Yes, it was great!", Theodore says in agreement. He then asks, "How's Simon doing?"
"He still feels bad, he's spent most of the time on the couch," Dave says.
"I saw Freddy earlier in the bathroom mirror," Simon says tiredly.
"Freddy?! Were you asleep?", Theodore asks.
"No, I was awake. I got sick to my stomach and ran to the bathroom. After I threw up, I put water on my face and looked in the mirror and there he was, telling me I was his and laughing at me," Simon answers.
Theodore cringes in fear and says, "Why is this happening?"
"It's because Freddy is sick in the head and absolutely pure evil," Alvin says.
"Nobody can disagree with you about that," Dave says. He then adds, "Maybe some studying for your exams will get Freddy out of your head."
"Okay," Alvin sighs.
Theodore turns to Simon and says, "I hope you get better," before he and Alvin go upstairs to study.
"I hope I get better too," Simon replies.
Later, while Alvin and Theodore are studying, Dave falls asleep in his chair. After a few minutes, he hears footsteps and opens his eyes to see Simon walking up to him.
"Simon, are you feeling better?", Dave asks.
Simon gives him a strange look and says, "A little bit. But I know a way to feel a lot better." Simon then tips Dave out of his chair and has a sinister smile on his face.
"Simon! What do you think you're doing?!", Dave says in an outraged manner. A ring of fire then erupts around them.
"Simon, what is this? What have you done?!", Dave asks angrily. Simon's sinister smile widens and he says, "It's my medicine. Don't get too hot under the collar."
Dave's eyes widen with fear and he says, "You wouldn't!"
"I would," Simon says while still having the sinister smile. He then pushes Dave into the fire.
Dave wakes up with a gasp and quickly looks at the couch and sees that Simon is still laying there.
"It was only a dream. Why did I have it though?", Dave says to himself.
After Alvin and Theodore study for a while, Dave calls them for dinner. He then tells Simon, "I hope you can eat some dinner. You haven't eaten much all day."
"I know. I'm actually a little hungry," Simon says.
As Dave and the boys were eating their dinner, he said, "I had a dream that Simon pushed me into a fire."
"Why would I do that?", Simon asks.
"I don't know. You also had a weird smile when you did it. It's like you enjoyed it," Dave replies.
"Simon wouldn't do anything like that," Theodore says.
"Especially not to you Dave," Alvin adds.
"I know. That's why the dream freaked me out really bad," Dave says.
He then looks at Simon and asks, "Feel any better?"
"I'm not quite as achy, but overall I still feel pretty achy and bad," Simon answers.
"At least you're not hurting quite as much as you were earlier," Dave says.
Simon is able to eat some dinner before he leaves the table due to his illness keeping him from eating anymore. Alvin, Theodore, and Dave finish dinner.
Dave and the boys then watched TV for a while before it was time for bed.
"I don't think you'll be able to go to school tomorrow if you're still feeling really bad tonight and especially in the morning," Dave says to Simon.
"Awe man! Why can't I stay home from school?", Alvin says.
"You're not sick. Besides, your exams start this week," Dave answers.
"Oh alright," Alvin sighs. He then says, "I will say, taking final exams is better than dealing with a psychopathic murderer in our dreams."
"At least you're seeing it that way Alvin," Dave replies.
Dave tucks the boys into bed for the night and says, "Goodnight fellas."
"Goodnight Dave," the Chipmunks say back. Dave then heads to bed.
After he lays in his bed, he says to himself, "Why did I have that dream? What does it mean? I hope I don't have another one like that." He then starts drifting off to sleep.
Could Simon's sickness be related to Freddy Krueger? What could Freddy have in store, not only for Simon, but for many people in the area? Please review!
