Chapter 24

It's Thursday morning and the Chipmunks have been woken up for breakfast. When the boys get to the table, Simon asks Alvin, "How's your throat?"

Alvin responds, "It's fine."

Simon then says, "Good. Believe me when I say that it wasn't actually me that was strangling you last night."

"I know. I definitely believe you. That look in your eyes that I saw wasn't a look you would have in your eyes at all. It was a look of absolute pure hate and evil," Alvin says.

"I happened to see the look on your face Simon. That was a look I had never seen before on your face. I saw it before you snapped back to yourself," Dave claims.

"I was scared to death when you were choking Alvin. I know it wasn't really you, but I was worried that you were going to kill him," Theodore says to Simon.

"I'm sorry for what happened last night and anyone would understand you being scared," Simon replies.

As the boys eat their breakfast, Dave notices Simon wincing in pain and rubbing his right hand.

"What's wrong with your hand?", Dave asks the blue clad chipmunk.

"It just started getting stiff and sore for some reason," Simon answers.

"That's strange. Why would it start doing that now?", Dave says.

"Could it be from Simon strangling me last night?", Alvin asks.

"I don't think so. He just started complaining about it now," Dave responds.

"That's right. It just now started hurting. It didn't hurt last night after what I did," Simon adds.

"Hopefully it's not anything new going on with you after that dream where Freddy Krueger went into your arm. We already have the strange dark behavior that clearly isn't you, this would make the situation even worse," Theodore says.

"Very true Theodore," Simon replies.

Later at school, the Chipmunks meet up with the Chipettes.

"Did Simon act strange last night?", Jeanette asks.

"Unfortunately, yes. He at first went on about how he and I were bonded by blood and that even though we fight, we still love each other, then he started strangling me," Alvin says.

"Oh my!", Eleanor exclaims.

"Sounds like Simon is acting worse as time goes on," Brittany says.

Nathan, who had overheard the conversation, comes over and says, "I heard what was said. Hopefully Simon doesn't wind up killing somebody."

"True, because if he did, I don't think anyone would believe us that he wasn't himself and was possibly possessed by a dead serial killer," Alvin says.

"Why do you now think I might be possessed?", Simon asks Alvin.

"You didn't start acting like that until after you had that weird dream," Alvin states.

"I hope you're wrong," Simon says glumly.

"I'm actually hoping I'm wrong, but I think I might be right," Alvin says.

"Either way, whatever is going on with Simon is still not normal," Nathan says.

Later on in math class, as Simon is practicing math problems for the exam that is the next day, the pain he felt in his hand earlier returned with a vengeance.

"Ouch! What is that?!," Simon says to himself. He examines his hand and notices that it is a bit swollen.

Mrs. Shepherd notices and comes to his desk and asks, "Is something wrong with your hand?"

"It hurts pretty bad, but I think it's just writer's cramp because I've been writing a lot," Simon answers.

"Maybe don't write as much for a bit. Maybe it'll get better," Mrs. Shepherd suggests. She then says, "Trust me, I know how it feels. I've had writer's cramp many times."

"I'll keep that in mind, thank you for the suggestion," Simon says.

Alvin, overhearing what was said, thinks, "I hope this is just writer's cramp."

The boys get through other classes before lunch. Unfortunately, Simon's hand is still hurting.

At lunch, the Chipmunks are talking with the Chipettes.

"I have been having this pain in my hand all day and every time it comes on, it hurts worse," Simon says.

"When did it start hurting?", Jeanette asks.

"Before school. In math class, Mrs. Shepherd noticed that I was hurting and asked me about it," Simon said.

"What did you tell her?", Jeanette asked.

"I told her that I thought it was writer's cramp," Simon answers.

"Writer's cramp doesn't cause your hand to swell. Why'd you give that answer?", Brittany says.

"I couldn't just say 'I think I might be possessed by a dead psychopathic serial killer' because she really would have thought I was crazy," Simon says back.

"That's true," Brittany replies.

"Last thing we need is for you to be sent to the loony bin," Eleanor says.

Simon goes to eat some more of his lunch when he cringes in pain and grabs his hand.

Nathan, who is at the table with the Chipmunks and Chipettes asks, "What's wrong?"

Alvin responds, "Looks like his hand is bothering him again."

"Oh boy. This is just weird. Why would Simon's hand all of a sudden start hurting him this bad?", Nathan says.

"Unfortunately nobody knows right now," Theodore says.

Simon, Theodore, and Nathan collectively gasp when they see Simon's hand swell even more.

"What the heck is going on?!", Jeanette exclaims after she also sees Simon's hand swell.

"I hope we figure it out soon," Simon says while gritting his teeth in pain.

The Chipmunks and Chipettes get through the rest of the school day easily aside from having to take an exam.

At home, the boys are watching TV when Simon's hand starts hurting him again.

"What is going on?!", Simon says out loud as he grabs his hand.

"Is it your hand again?", Dave asks.

"Yes, it is. Throughout the day, the pain has been getting worse and worse," Simon says.

Dave examines Simon's hand and sees the swelling on it which has also gotten worse.

"I didn't see swelling this morning. This is kind of concerning," Dave says.

"I'm kind of thinking that Simon might be possessed," Alvin says.

"That sounds kind of silly. How could a swollen painful hand mean possession?", Dave says.

"It's not just the hand. It's also Simon's behavior over the past few days. He didn't start having these problems until after he had that dream about Freddy Krueger liquefying himself and going into that cut on Simon's arm," Alvin answers.

"I'm afraid I'll have to see more evidence to fully believe that Alvin. That itself was interesting to say considering what has gone on for weeks with Freddy Krueger coming into your dreams and also him killing people," Dave says.

"I hope this doesn't lead to you being hurt," Theodore says.

At the Miller house, the girls are watching TV with Ms. Miller when Jeanette says, "Ms. Miller, I'm worried about Simon."

"Why? What's wrong with him besides his dark behavior?", Ms. Miller asks.

"I think there is a chance he might be possessed. Consider the fact that the strange behavior didn't start until after he had that dream about Freddy Krueger. Also, his hand was getting swollen and was hurting him a lot today," Jeanette says.

"Did Simon hit his hand or something?", Ms. Miller asked.

"Neither he, Alvin, or Theodore said that he had injured his hand. The only thing he did with that hand last night was strangle Alvin and try to kill him," Jeanette answers.

"They said Simon was in one of his episodes where he acted dark and he didn't remember anything," Brittany says.

"I know choking someone is wrong, but obviously Simon wasn't himself and choking someone wouldn't cause a hand to swell," Eleanor adds.

"That's very strange. I hope he'll be okay," Ms. Miller says.

"We all do," Jeanette says.

Back at the Seville house, the boys are practicing math problems for their exam when Theodore says, "Simon could you help me figure this problem out? I have no idea how to solve it."

"Sure thing," Simon says as he gets up from his chair.

Simon comes to the table where Theodore is sitting and puts his hand on the table to help Theodore with the problem.

"Which one is it?", Simon asks his chubby brother.

Before he could answer, Theodore noticed something on Simon's fingers and gasped.

"What's wrong?", Simon asks.

"Something is coming out of your fingers," Theodore says in fear.

Simon quickly looks at his hand and sees what appears to be knife tips coming out of his fingers.

"What's this?!", Simon says in fear. He then gasps when the knives start emerging further from his fingers. He then grabbed his head and closed his eyes tightly.

"Simon?!", Theodore exclaims fearfully.

Simon opens his eyes and gets an evil smile on his face. His eye color has also changed. Instead of the normal grayish-blue color, Simon's eyes are brown.

Simon then evilly says to Theodore, "Let's have some time of brotherly love," before laughing evilly.

Theodore runs as Simon takes a swipe at him with his finger knives and screams as he runs down the stairs.

Alvin, hearing this, quickly follows Simon as Simon chases Theodore down the stairs.

"Dave, help!", Theodore screams as Simon is close behind him.

Dave then grabs Theodore and asks, "What's wrong with you Simon? Also, why do you have knives on your fingers?"

"I just wanted to have some time with Theodore," Simon says with an evil smile.

Dave then grabs Simon's right hand and manipulates the knives on his fingers, but realizes that they won't come off.

"These things and I are kind of attached. Let me show you," Simon says before slashing at Dave and managing to cut his arm.

Simon approaches Dave while laughing evilly. Alvin then grabs Simon from behind to keep him from really hurting Dave.

"Stop it! Get away from him!", Alvin screams as he restrains Simon.

Simon then closes his eyes tightly, then the knives on his fingers retract back into his fingers. He then opens his eyes and sees Dave looking at him with a wide eyed look of fear. Simon's eye color has also returned to its normal grayish-blue color.

"Why are you looking at me like that?", Simon asks.

Dave stammers, "You were trying to get Theodore and you cut me with knives on your fingers."

Simon sees the cuts on Dave's arm and gasps as Alvin lets him go.

"Oh no. Before everything went black, I saw knives coming out of my fingers," Simon says sadly.

Alvin says, "This unfortunately confirms the worst possible thing, Simon. You are possessed. Clearly possessed by Freddy Krueger."

"Alvin is right. I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't just see it myself, but you are unfortunately possessed," Dave says.

"Oh my goodness, what am I going to do? Freddy is without a doubt going to try to make me hurt and even kill people! I can't control it," Simon says frantically.

"We have to find a way to get rid of him! That's all there is to it!", Alvin exclaims.

"Yes, we need to beat him. We need to free Simon," Theodore says.

"Theodore, Dave, I'm sorry. That wasn't me but it looked like me," Simon says sadly.

"You don't have to apologize, we know it wasn't you in control. It was clearly Freddy Krueger," Dave replies.

"That's right, we know it wasn't you," Theodore says assuringly before hugging Simon.

"I still feel bad because Freddy made me do it. You'll remember me doing these things," Simon said glumly.

"No we won't. We'll always know it was Freddy and not you," Dave says.

After Simon composes himself, he and his brothers go back upstairs to continue to practice math problems in an effort to try to put the disturbing incident behind them.

Later on, it's dinner time and the boys come to eat with Dave. Dave had made spaghetti for dinner.

Alvin then speaks up, "In case it happens at school tomorrow and Simon gets in trouble, I'll need the video recorder so I can have proof that he isn't intentionally doing these things."

"Okay you can take it. But be careful," Dave says.

"I didn't break it the last time I took it. I know how to handle it," Alvin says.

"It's not just about the camcorder, it's about if Simon; or should I say Freddy; sees you and tries to hurt you," Dave says.

"Dave's right Alvin," Theodore says.

Simon gets up from the table and says, "I'm looking for a soulful dessert and I think I found it.

Alvin turns toward Simon and gasps when he sees Simon's eyes brown and the finger knives. Simon then tackles Alvin to the floor and tries to stab him with the knives.

Alvin holds off Simon's hand, but the knives are getting closer to Alvin's face. Simon then starts laughing evilly as he tries to get the knives closer.

Dave and Theodore grab Simon and try to pull him off of Alvin, but it's harder than they thought because of Simon's unusual strength.

"Get off of him you monster!", Dave yells out as he and Theodore attempt to pull Simon away from Alvin.

Simon then shuts his eyes tightly and the knives once again retract into his fingers. When Simon opens his eyes, they're back to their normal color.

Simon then asks, "Was it Freddy again?"

Alvin says, "It definitely was. You had the knives on your fingers and your eyes were brown instead of their normal color."

Simon gets off of Alvin and helps him to his feet.

"Why is Freddy doing this to me?", Simon asks sadly.

"He's a sick twisted murderer who probably thinks it's funny," Alvin says.

"He just needs to leave us alone," Theodore says.

"Unfortunately I don't think he'll leave us alone anytime soon," Simon says.

The boys and Dave are able to finish dinner and watch TV for a while before it's bedtime.

After tucking the boys in for the night, Dave says, "I know what has been happening lately is scary, but you have one more exam tomorrow and you need your sleep."

"We know, but it will be hard to sleep comfortably knowing Freddy could try to make me kill someone," Simon says.

"At least try to get some sleep. I know it'll be hard, but at least try to sleep," Dave says. He then says, "Goodnight boys."

"Goodnight Dave," the Chipmunks respond. Dave then turns out the light and closes the door.

Neither the boys or Dave can sleep comfortably for long periods due to the events of the day and night.

It's been confirmed, Simon is possessed by Freddy Krueger. Will Freddy make Simon kill against his will? Please review!
