Chapter 25

It's Friday morning, and the Chipmunks have gotten up to come eat breakfast. Dave notices that the boys are acting differently from usual.

"What's wrong?", Dave asks his boys.

"It's what's happening to Simon, I'm very worried about it," Theodore answers.

"I'm afraid Freddy Krueger is going to try to make me kill someone," Simon adds.

"I can easily understand that, but you also have to think about the last exam you have today," Dave says.

"True," Simon says.

"I doubt Freddy will care about our exam today, especially if he wants to cause trouble," Alvin says. He then adds, "That's why I want to take the camcorder and record Simon if Freddy tries to make him do anything nasty in order to show that Simon isn't willingly doing anything evil."

"I'll say that's a good idea Alvin," Theodore replies.

"True, but like I said, be careful Alvin," Dave puts in.

"I will," Alvin replies.

After the boys arrive at the school, they are joined by Nathan and the Chipettes.

"Last exam today. I hope it goes well for us," Nathan says.

"It should if we studied hard," Simon replies.

"We definitely studied a lot, I hope you and your brothers studied just as hard," Jeanette says to Simon.

"Hopefully Freddy doesn't try anything while you're taking the test," Eleanor says.

"I hope he doesn't try anything, period," Brittany says.

"Knowing Freddy, he very easily could try something during the day. But I'm with you Brittany, I hope he'll behave himself," Nathan responds.

Later during math class, the students were taking the exam when Simon noticed fellow student Jeff Dent, who was sitting next to him, looking over at him.

"What?", Simon asked.

"Nothing," Jeff says.

Simon sees Jeff's eyes looking at his paper and he asks, "Are you afraid to fail this class?"

"Why do you ask?", Jeff asks.

"You're looking at my paper. How about I give you something to really be afraid of?", Simon says menacingly.

Jeff sees that Simon's eyes are brown and that knives are protruding from Simon's fingers and says, "What's up with you?!"

Alvin hears the commotion and quickly grabs the camera from his backpack and starts recording.

Simon says to Jeff, "You need to learn what happens when you try to cheat off of me." Jeff's eyes are wide with fear as Simon grabs him by his shirt and smiles evilly at him.

Mrs. Shepherd sees the action and comes over to break it up.

"Simon, get away from him. Jeff, you shouldn't try to cheat," Mrs. Shepherd says to both of them. She then sees the knives on Simon's fingers and sternly says, "Take those off right now!"

"Hate to break it to you, but they're stuck stronger than glue," Simon says with a wicked smile on his face. He then says, "Here's proof," and slashes Mrs. Shepherd on her arm.

She backs up to her desk with her eyes showing intense fear as Simon comes toward her moving his fingers and rubbing the knives together.

"Stop! Get away!", Mrs. Shepherd exclaims fearfully.

Simon, whose voice is now slightly raspy, says, "It's time for the student to teach the teacher a lesson," before laughing evilly.

Mrs. Shepherd screams as Simon gets closer.

Simon then grabs his head and shuts his eyes tightly. The knives go back into his fingers and he opens his eyes and sees Mrs. Shepherd looking at him fearfully while shaking.

"What happened?", Simon asks.

"Your eyes were brown and you had knives coming out of your fingers. You were going to do something to Jeff, then you started coming at me," Mrs. Shepherd says with fear in her voice.

Simon gasps when he sees the cuts on Mrs. Shepherd's arm and says, "That wasn't me! That was Freddy Krueger! He's possessing me!"

"I'm not sure what that was. I saw the knives go back into your fingers, but I have to send you to the principal's office," Mrs. Shepherd says. She then adds, "I believe you that you weren't doing it on your free will, but I don't know what to do. You can finish your test later today."

"Okay," Simon says solemnly.

Alvin, who has ended the recording, says, "I'll go with him. I can show the principal that he actually wasn't meaning to do it."

"Okay, you can go with him. I can say for certain that whoever that was that went after Jeff and came after me wasn't Simon," Mrs. Shepherd replies.

Alvin and Simon make their way to Principal Smith's office.

At the office, the 2 boys tell Principal Smith what happened.

"Why on earth would you attack Mrs. Shepherd? You aren't normally like that," Principal Smith says.

"I know, but it wasn't actually me. It was Freddy Krueger," Simon says.

"It's true, it was Freddy Krueger. He's possessing Simon," Alvin adds.

"That can't be true, Freddy Krueger has been dead for decades," the principal replies.

"We know, but somehow he is doing this," Simon says.

"I've got proof that Simon didn't actually have control over what he was doing and that Krueger is responsible," Alvin claims.

"Okay, fine, show me," the principal says with a bit of skepticism.

Alvin then plays the tape for Principal Smith. After the recording finishes, Principal Smith has a shocked look on his face.

"You had knives on your fingers and your voice was different Simon. I can safely say, that wasn't normal," Principal Smith says in a shocked way.

"You can even look at my fingers," Simon claims as he puts his right hand on the desk.

The principal then feels Simon's fingers and doesn't feel anything abnormal.

"That has to be one of the strangest, scariest things I have ever seen on that tape. It's clear you weren't in control Simon," the principal says.

"Thank you for believing Alvin and I," Simon says.

"Unfortunately I do have to punish you because it would set a bad example and other students could try to say something like this to get away with infractions. You'll have detention this afternoon," Principal Smith says.

He then leans over to Simon and says, "I believe you. It's just my hands are tied with this situation."

"I understand," Simon says sadly.

"Okay, now go back to class," Principal Smith says.

Alvin and Simon return to their math class and finish the period.

Later at lunch, the Chipmunks and Chipettes talk with Nathan about the day.

"We don't have any more exams, so it should be smooth sailing to the end of the school year," Alvin says.

"I can't wait for summer," Brittany says excitedly.

"I can't wait either, but we do have a couple more days," Nathan said.

Nathan looks at Simon and notices he is looking down and asks, "What's wrong?"

Simon replies, "I got detention after school today."

Jeanette asks, "What for? What did you do?"

Simon replies, "It wasn't me in control, it was Freddy. He made me attack a kid named Jeff in math class. He also made me go after and slash Mrs. Shepherd."

The Chipettes and Nathan gasp and Brittany says, "Freddy Krueger needs to go away!"

"But he won't. He's just going to keep doing this for however long he wants," Alvin says.

Derek, who heard the conversation, comes to their table and says, "The nerd trying to be tough and scary, what a laugh."

"Last thing we want right now is your stupidity attacking our ears," Eleanor says.

"What stupidity? I'm just saying, it's a laugh that a goody-two-shoes like that blue wearing geek would get detention," Derek replies.

Simon then grabs his head and knives come out of his fingers.

"Oh no! It's happening again!", Theodore exclaims.

"What are you talking about?", Derek asks.

Simon looks up at Derek and smiles evilly at him.

"What are those knives? What the heck are you doing?", Derek asks.

Simon quickly comes over to Derek and grabs him by the shirt and says with a rasp in his voice, "Looks like you need a good lesson in fear."

"Hey! Let go you nerd!", Derek says as he tries to break Simon's grip. He then says, "Also, what's up with your voice?"

Simon says evilly, "It's me itching to put you down like the dog you are. You're about to join your friend," before laughing evilly.

Derek feels his heart jump into his throat and he asks the others, "Why is he doing this?"

Alvin answers, "He's possessed by Freddy Krueger, it's not really Simon!"

"Get him away from me!", Derek exclaims.

A cafeteria worker sees the commotion and comes to restrain Simon.

"Get away from him! Let him go!", the worker says as she restrains Simon.

Simon then shuts his eyes tightly and the knives retract back into his fingers. He then opens his eyes and sees that he is holding Derek's shirt and quickly lets go. Simon's eye color has also returned to normal. The worker then releases Simon.

"What is wrong with you?! Have you gone crazy you freak?!", Derek says while wide eyed with fear.

"It's Freddy Krueger! He's making Simon do it!", Theodore says.

"You're still on this stuff? That guy is dead!", Derek says.

"Well explain what you just saw," Brittany says.

"Whatever the reason is, I don't care. Just keep this psycho away from me!", Derek exclaims fearfully before quickly going back to his table.

The cafeteria worker says, "That was one of the strangest things I've ever seen in my life."

Simon turns to the worker and says, "I'm so sorry, I wasn't in control of myself."

"That was pretty obvious. I don't know what to say or think right now," the worker replies before walking away.

Simon puts his head in his hands and sadly says, "I know it. It's only a matter of time before Krueger makes me get him another victim. I can't stop him."

"Don't say that! There is a way to stop him, I know it!", Jeanette says as she hugs Simon.

"I hope it's found quickly or else Freddy will, without a doubt, get another victim using me," Simon says.

The rest of the school day passes without further incident for the Chipmunks and Chipettes. Simon later on does his detention period and completes his math test.

Later at the Seville house, the boys talk with Dave about what has gone on.

"I was surprised to hear that you got detention Simon," Dave says.

"I know you were, but it wasn't me that attacked that student and Mrs. Shepherd. It was Freddy," Simon claims.

"I'll show you the proof," Alvin says as he takes out the camcorder and starts the tape for Dave.

After the recording finishes, Dave says in a shocked manner, "Freddy is sick! I can't believe he made you do that Simon."

"I know. I don't think there is a spot too low for Freddy to go," Simon says.

At the Miller house, the girls are also telling Ms. Miller about the strange day.

"There were knives coming out of his fingers. His eyes were also a different color. That wasn't Simon I saw doing this stuff, it was Freddy Krueger," Jeanette says.

"It's clear now that Freddy Krueger has possessed Simon," Brittany adds.

"Especially since during the episode, his voice actually got raspy, just like Freddy," Eleanor puts in.

"Oh poor Simon. Freddy is making his life a living nightmare. He needs help," Ms. Miller said with concern.

"We know he needs help, but we don't know how to help him," Brittany says.

"There has to be a way to help Simon and get rid of Freddy, I know it!", Jeanette says.

"I know you really want to help him dear, but you have to find the way first," Ms. Miller says.

"I know. It's even more urgent since at any point, Freddy could make Simon kill somebody," Jeanette says.

Sometime later at the Seville house, the boys are watching a program on TV when Simon quietly gets up and goes to the front door without Dave, Alvin, or Theodore noticing. They then hear the door open and close quickly and look up.

"I wonder where Simon is going," Dave says.

"I don't know. I say we follow him," Alvin replies.

He and Theodore then go out the door and follow Simon.

"Simon! Where are you going?", Theodore calls out. Simon however ignores him.

"Simon, come back! Tell us where you're going!", Alvin calls. Simon also ignores him and continues walking.

"Where on earth is he going?", Theodore asks Alvin.

"I wish I knew," Alvin answers as he and his chubby brother continue to follow Simon.

After a short period, Simon stops at a house and goes into the yard. Alvin and Theodore look and realize that it's Dr. Frankenstein's new house and gasp.

"Why would Simon come here?", Theodore asks.

"I don't know and I don't like it," Alvin replies.

Simon walks up to Dr. Frankenstein with his hand behind his back and says, "Interesting machine you're building here."

"Why are you here, chipmunk?", the doctor asks.

"I'm just curious about this machine. What is it?", Simon replies with a raspy voice.

Alvin and Theodore heard the change in Simon's voice and realized that Freddy is in control again. They quickly run into Dr. Frankenstein's yard.

With Dr. Frankenstein and Simon, the doctor answers, "A machine like one of the ones that got destroyed."

"I bet it was frightening when your lab exploded," Simon says with a creepy smile.

"Why do you say that? Also what's wrong with your voice?", Dr. Frankenstein asks.

Simon then takes his right hand out from behind his back and reveals the knives protruding from his fingers. He then evilly says, "It's just part of your lesson you need to learn!"

The doctor gasps when he sees the knives and says, "No! Stay away from me! Not this again!"

Simon laughs evilly as he approaches the doctor while rubbing the knives together.

Alvin and Theodore then grab Simon to restrain him.

"Please, get him away from me!", Dr. Frankenstein exclaims in fear.

Simon then shuts his eyes tightly and the knives retract back into his fingers. He then opens his eyes and is surprised to see Dr. Frankenstein looking at him fearfully.

"What am I doing here?", Simon asks.

"You had knives on your fingers and were coming after me like that Freddy Krueger person," Dr. Frankenstein says.

"We called out to you, but you didn't answer us. You just kept walking," Theodore said to Simon.

Simon gasps and says, "It was Freddy again, wasn't it?"

"I'm afraid so," Alvin says glumly.

"What are you, possessed by this Freddy Krueger?", the doctor asks.

"The evidence clearly says he is," Alvin answers.

"As long as he is like that, keep him away from me, please," Dr. Frankenstein says.

"We will," Alvin replies. He then muttered under his breath, "Just like we want you away from us."

The boys then walk back home.

When the boys get back home, Dave is waiting for them at the door.

"Good, you're back. Simon where were you going?", Dave says.

"It wasn't me, it was Freddy Krueger. He made me go to Dr. Frankenstein's house," Simon responds.

"It's true. Alvin and I saw the knives on the fingers and the brown eyes. Simon's voice was also raspy and he tried to attack Dr. Frankenstein," Theodore says.

Dave replies, "Simon is clearly getting worse and more possessed. This is not good at all."

"I just hope that this gets figured out before Freddy actually manages to kill someone else and Simon gets blamed," Alvin says.

"I know because the police would have a really hard time believing us that a dead serial killer was responsible," Dave says.

Later on, after the boys watch some TV, they have dinner.

At the table, Dave says, "Obviously no more exams. That's good."

"Yes I'm so relieved," Alvin replies.

"How do you boys think you did on the tests," Dave asks.

"I think we did well on them," Simon answers.

"Definitely, since we studied a lot," Alvin adds.

"See? That's what good studying gets you. I know you think a lot of studying can get annoying Alvin, but it will pay off in the end," Dave says.

"I know. You and Simon have told me that many times," Alvin says.

Alvin then thinks, "Even with as annoying as it can get, I'm hoping Simon is around to tell me that a lot more and not in prison or a mental hospital because of Freddy Krueger."

Later on, after the boys play some video games and watch a movie, it's bedtime.

As Dave tucks the boys into bed for the night, he says, "I know we'll figure this out. Right now don't worry about it and try to get some sleep."

"Okay, we'll try to sleep," Theodore replies.

"Goodnight boys," Dave says as he turns out the light.

"Goodnight Dave," the boys say back as Dave walks out and heads to bed.

After Simon hears Dave's bedroom door close, he gets up, turns on the light, and goes into the closet.

"Simon what are you doing?", Theodore asks.

Simon comes back out of the closet with 2 baseball bats and hands one to Theodore and the other to Alvin and says, "Watch me. If I start acting strange, don't let me leave this room. I don't care if you have to hit me on the head with these bats, just don't let me leave because I know Freddy will most likely make me kill someone."

"That's taking it a little far isn't it?", Alvin says.

"At this point it's extreme measures. If Freddy makes me attack you or Dave, you and Theodore are definitely welcome to use those bats on me," Simon says back.

"Okay, we'll watch you while you sleep," Theodore says.

"Thank you. Remember, do not let me leave this room," Simon replies as he turns off the light. He then gets in his bed and goes to sleep. Alvin and Theodore watch him intensely.

Two hours later, Alvin and Theodore are beginning to fall asleep when they hear Simon moving around in his bed. They quickly look in Simon's direction and watch with horror as knives emerge from his fingers.

"It's happening!", Theodore says in fright.

Simon then stops moving and his eyes open, which confirms what Theodore was thinking since Simon's eyes are brown.

Simon gets up and goes to the door and is about to open it when Alvin says, "Where do you think you're going?"

Simon turns to Alvin and smiles evilly at him and says in a raspy voice, "Why does it matter? You can't stop me!"

Alvin bolts out of his bed and grabs Simon to restrain him. Simon easily breaks free and punches Alvin in the face.

Alvin drops to the floor after the punch and Simon walks over to him laughing evilly before snarling, "Nobody can stop me! I'm almost there! Time for you to die, little piggy!"

Theodore quickly runs up to Simon with his baseball bat and hits him on the back.

Simon quickly gets back up, turns around, and snarls at Theodore, "You think that will do anything, you miserable munk?!" Theodore takes another swing with the bat, but Simon blocks it and slashes him on the chest.

Simon moves toward Theodore to finish him off when Alvin uses his bat to hit Simon on the side. Simon grunts in pain as he turns to Alvin and comes back toward him.

Alvin then hits Simon in the head with the bat and Simon drops to his knees. He then looks back up with blood dripping out of his mouth and smiles evilly at Alvin. Alvin takes another swing, but Simon catches the bat and disarms Alvin of it and throws it aside.

"Both of you are through!", Simon rasps at Alvin and Theodore before uttering another evil laugh.

Dave is woken up by the commotion and races to the boys' room.

Dave opens the door and is horrified to see Theodore slashed and bleeding on the floor and Simon chuckling evilly as he tries to slash Alvin with Alvin desperately trying to keep the knives away from him.

"Stop!", Dave yells frantically.

Simon turns and sneers at Dave and says, "Nice to have an audience when I send these boys to the eternal sleep. You'll soon join them!"

"Leave them alone you monster!", Dave says.

"I will…when they're dead!", Simon snarls.

Simon then drops to his hands and knees and is twitching. The knives retract back into his fingers and he trembles before opening his eyes.

Alvin, Theodore, and Dave are relieved when they see Simon's eyes back to their grayish-blue color.

Simon grabs his head and says, "Ow, my head hurts. It feels like I got hit with a bat."

"You did," Alvin says.

"It was Freddy wasn't it?", Simon says.

"I'm afraid so," Dave replies.

Simon tastes the blood on his lip and wipes it off of his mouth. He then sees Theodore on the floor slashed and bleeding and says, "Theodore I'm so sorry. I'm sorry you got hurt."

"It's okay, we know it wasn't actually you. Besides, it's actually not deep at all," Theodore says.

Theodore then says, "I hope you don't have a concussion Simon."

"I know who I am and I know it's Friday, about to go into Saturday, so I don't think I have a concussion," Simon replies.

"We'll still take you to the hospital tomorrow just to be safe," Dave says.

"I don't think I hit him that hard. Besides, Simon told us to use our bats if he acted weird or attacked us," Alvin said.

"It was extreme measures after what happened earlier today," Simon claims.

"I know it was really hard on you after what Freddy made you do, but we'll figure out a way to get rid of Freddy soon," Dave says.

"I hope so," Simon says.

Dave takes Theodore to the bathroom to clean the blood off of him and bandage his cuts. He also got him a new nightshirt.

When Dave and Theodore get back, Dave says, "In the morning, Simon is going to the hospital in case he has a head injury."

"Okay," Alvin and Theodore say.

Dave then says to Simon, "If you start feeling different, let me know and I'll take you right away."

"I'll be sure to let you know," Simon replies.

"Goodnight again boys," Dave says.

"Goodnight Dave," the boys say back.

Dave goes back to bed and the boys also return to bed. The boys however are unable to comfortably sleep for the rest of the night.
